Inn Details
On a picturesque lane that winds along the Atlantic ocean, Arbor House’s single suite bed and breakfast occupies a newly renovated wing of a 1899 summer house and offers complete privacy. Front picture windows overlook a fresh water pond and sliding glass doors open onto a secluded garden. A three minute walk leads to a private beach, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and viewing sunrises and sunsets. (Beach chairs, towels, and picnic basket available.) A combination of fine contemporary and antique furnishings, original artwork, luxurious fabrics and fresh flowers help to create an atmosphere of warmth, serenity, and grace. Additional features include an Italian tile bath and sky-lit cathedral ceiling. An expansive continental breakfast and snacks are stocked in your own kitchenette by Jennifer, a former professional pastry chef. Wake up early and watch the sunrise or sleep in and enjoy a long, lazy morning. Your breakfast is ready when you are. Other amenities include a queen-sized bed with an orthopedic mattress, private phone and answering machine, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, 27" TV with premium cable, DVD/ VCR / Stereo (movies and music available), down-filled sofa, separate thermostat, walk-in closet, hair dryer, and iron/ironing board.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) take Route 128 / I-95 North for approximately 26 miles. (At one point, Rts 128 and I -95 diverge - stay left on Rt. 128 ) Take Exit 25A for Route 114 East heading towards Salem and Marblehead. At bottom of exit ramp, you will go right and then move to the left lane. Follow well marked signs for Route 114 East through Peabody, Salem and Marblehead. (if neccessary, go to our web site for more detailed directions) Rt 114 will take you through the center of Salem and then past Salem State College which will be on your right. After you enter Marblehead you will head straight through three set of lights. At the fourth set of lights take a right onto Smith St. and at the end of Smith St., take a right onto Atlantic Ave (Route 129). At this point, Ticehurst Lane is a 1/2 mile down the road on your left. Once you are on Ticehurst Lane, Arbor House Bed and Breakfast is the fifth house on the left - 28 Ticehurst - a large house with natural shingles and green trim. Directly across from us is a small pond. As you look at the house, the bed and breakfast is on the left with parking immediately in front.
Airport
Boston, MA (BOS-Logan Intl.) 13 miles
Directions to property:
Take Route 1A North through Revere into Lynn. Stay on Route 1A over the General Edwards bridge. You will want to get in middle or right hand lanes on Route 1A and prepare to follow signs for Route 129 East which will take you towards the water and away from downtown Lynn. Following Route 129 East you will come to a rotary. Do not take the first right off the rotary (which would take you to Nahant) but proceed 3/4 around the rotary and continue straight on Route 129 East, keeping the water on your right. Route 129 will continue through Swampscott, approximately 4 miles. Once you enter Marblehead, Route 129 also becomes Atlantic Avenue and after the first traffic light, Ticehurst Lane is 1/2 mile down the road on the right.

Jennifer and Dave made our anniversary weekend very special. The room and private courtyard were more than we hoped for. We would definitely stay with them again.

When looking for a B&B, I wanted small and private. This was perfect. Jennifer and Dave couldn't have been more inviting. Jennifer make us dinner reservations as soon as we got there. Dinner was great and we were greeted with a big hello from the hostess "Hope you enjoy your stay in Marblehead". The room was very romantic as we were there to celebrate my Birthday and our upcoming anniversary. Dave and Jennifer had a bottle of champagne waiting for us to celebrate. Nice touch! The breakfast and snacks were excellent. A little fruit and the scones were out of this world. Everything was so organized, and the decorations were very nice. We opted for some music but could have watched a movie or cable TV. We were impressed by everything and would highly recommend staying at this B&B.
A wonderful B & B.

We had a wonderful stay at the B&B. The food was fantastic as was the total experience. Jennifer and Dave were so friendly and helpful in their suggestions of activities, yet they allowed us total privacy. They also went above and beyond with regards to returning items we left by mistake.

Our stay at the inn was absolutely wonderful. In addition to being well furnished, clean and quiet, the breakfasts were delicious- fresh fruit, home made breads, granola, juices, and other goodies. Also, I appreciated that the food was organic. Each morning we enjoyed our stroll to the ocean, sitting on the rocks, and absorbing the beauty. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here!!

A great place to stay for a quiet, intimate retreat. Great walk into marble head and by the water from the B & B. Loved it.
