Gateways Inn

As someone who prefers B&Bs vs. traditional hotels, I have seen my share of good and bad B&Bs. The Gateways Inn in Lenox, MA was one of my most memorable stays. The room was clean; and the service was excellent from when I walked through the door with the entire staff being friendly and attentive, to when I left. I stayed mid-week when there were vacancies and received a free upgraded room upon arrival. I do plan on visiting the area again come summer, and will definitely seek to stay again with Michele and Eiran.

The Inn is lovely and the new owners could not have been more hospitable. However, we were very disappointed to arrive and find that the bar and restaurant had been closed becuase they were under renovations. We were not notified nor had the website been updated prior to our arrival. Even this review site lists the former owners. Also, a suggestion to the owners, turn the heat on in the room before the guests arrive. As stated, the new owners were very accommodating and did all they could to accommodate us.

Not know what to give that certain someone, I decided a getaway to a nearby B & B would be a great unexpected gift. The choice of the Gateways Inn fulfilled that perfect gift that I was seeking. The Room was charming and the welcoming owners and staff made us feel right at home. We had a lovely leisurely dinner by the fireside that was prepared with great finesse and served according ly. We shall return!!!

This was our second stay at Gateways and look forward to our next.

booked a 2 night getaway after our 25th wedding anniv at the gateways and was more than plesently suprised at the package that farrizio and rosemary have put together in this beutiful and historic inn in the center of lenox. from a very personable and attentive welcome to the great food and atmosphere to the beautiful room it was an a+ all around. my only dissapointment was not being able to extend the stay a few more days!

We recently stayed at the Gateways Inn for a birthday weekend getaway. We were greeted by the owners Fabrizio and Rosemary, who were welcoming and most helpful. The room was perfect, and our special birthday dinner at their restaurant was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. From the appetizers to the incredible chocolate almond tart, each course was delicious. The wine list was impressive, the service exemplary. I would recommend this charming and convenient establishment for your lodging, and most definitely as a must for dinner.

We had a wonderful stay at The Gateways Inn. The food is out of this world! The Innkeepers were accommodating.

Fabrizio and Rosemary were the perfect host and hostess. We were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our beautiful room. Fabrizio spent a lot of time with us giving us the history of the inn upon my request. He was patient with all my questions and recommended some wonderful places to visit around town. The inn was beautiful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was magnificant! Rosemary seated us for breakfast and served us with a smile. I would highly recommend you stay here for the charm, delicious food, and friendly hosts! We will be back!

Fabrizio and Rosemary were both very welcoming and friendly. The room was a little smaller than I expected but the public spaces were comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was very good on both nights and the single malt whisky selection is nothing short of spectacular!

My wife and 2 year old son recently stayed at the Gateways Inn, and we had a great time. The staff was very helpful, and the room was spacious. We stayed in the Procter Room, which was conveniently situated away from the other rooms and perfect for a family with a small child. The inn provided a roll away bed for our son, which was more comfortable than most hotel beds. The breakfast was amazing, and the room where breakfast was served was bright and conducive to meeting other guests at the inn. We especially appreciated how the inn was less than a 5 minute walk to most of the shops in the charming town of Lenox. We would definitely stay at the Gateways Inn again.

Gateways is a lovely B & B, well located and easy to find. The breakfast was delicious, although the kitchen was very slow in preparing the food. Over and hour for breakfast is really quite long and although the server was very sweet, the long delay disrupted the rest of our day. Otherwise, this is a good place to stay.

Excellent long weekend get-away! Fabulous gourmet dining, lovely accomodations, and most congenial hosts. Lots to do in the Lenox, MA area. Would love to return to the Gateways Inn - anytime!

We stayed at the Gateway Inn over the Columbus Day weekend. The innkeepers were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was small but comfortable and have a nice gas fireplace, which we unfortunately never got to use since it was so warm that weekend. The inn is located a few steps from downtown Lenox so we could walk to all the shops and restaurants. Breakfast at the Inn was delicious - you had a choose of two warm dishes each day, plus fruit, yogurt, donuts and homemade cakes.

A beautiful inn in a beautiful town. The room was very comfortable and the innkeepers were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely consider going to the Gateways Inn again.

We have been coming to the Gateways Inn for years, and for good reason. It enjoys an ideal location in Lenox and offers exquisite rooms and gracious service--not to mention a bar with one of the largest selections of single malt scotches in the country!

My husband and I went for a three day weekend - had to leave a day early because of Hurricane Irene. We LOVED it there - can't wait to go back for a more relaxing worry-free time. Fabrizio and Rosemary are the ultimate hosts - they are wonderful and interesting people. Their staff is friendly and helpful - the food was truly superb - don't waste your time trying out the area restaurants (we did try some and we were disappointed) - Gateways Inn Restaurant is the best. We plan to return in the off season when Rosemary runs her Italian cooking school - yumm.

An outstanding facility and service which exceeded my expectations.

The Gateways Inn is wonderful. We stayed in the Orleton room which is a 2nd fl corner room. It is spacious and very private. The Innkeepers, Fabrizio and Rosemary, are friendly but not intrusive. A true plus is the dining room and bar on the premises, which is hard to find in a Lenox B&B. We ordered a picnic dinner to take to Tanglewood which was just super, and all packed in recyclable materials. If you go to Lenox, don't stay anywhere else.

Rosemary and Fabrizio met us at the door and welcomed us very warmly. We were escorted to our room, which was beautiful and appointed with great style. Towels and linen were of a high quality. There was a spa tub in the bathroom. Rosemary is a trained chef and prepares the most delicious breakfasts. Fabrizio's sense of humor had me laughing. The bar is a great place to hang out after an evening concert. Looking forward to the next 4th of July.

Rosemary and Fabrizio were great hosts. The food was fantastic and their inn is beautiful. We enjoyed our three day stay and look forward to seeing them again. Thank you.

Nice place located right near the middle of everything -- the Inn keepers are friendly and helpful. Breakfast starts a little late for active people, however.

The hosts were very friendly, the food was to die for! The whole inn was spotless, true to New England traditional decor, and very homey. The price was right for what we got. I will definately go back to the Gateways!

We booked this inn last minute after another property in the area was unable to fulfill our reservation, and boy are we glad that they weren’t. Fabrizio and Rosemary were the most gracious of host for the night. Our entire experience was filled with nothing but the best, from our accommodations, to the great conversations that we had with Fabrizio, to the most amazing menu that Rosemary had prepared for us both in the evening, and the following morning. I have never in my entire life felt so well taken care of while away on vacation. Their attention to detail, along with their incredible personalities made our stay one to remember for a lifetime! We can’t wait to get back to the inn and spend more time with them.

Love going to Gateways Inn - our 2nd year in a row. Same room each time. Dinner was fabulous. Breakfast the same. Will definitely go back again.

We celebrated our 20th anniversary with a stay at The Gateways Inn. Our room, the Proctor, was beautiful and romantic. The dining room and the whole house is full of historic grandeur and charm. The dinner we enjoyed was amazing! Highly recommend a stay here; we certainly hope to return.

I love cooking vacations and the Gateways Inn is at the top of my list for the BEST all around experience. The House is beautiful. It is evident that Fabrizio and Rosemary have invested time and love as well as their finances to meet the highest of standards. Value to me is getting more for your money, and I left feeling I got more than expected. I will be returning frequently and will most likely have to make reservations a year in advance once this package gets around. Thank you Fabrizio and Rosemary for opening up your beautiful home to a couple of strangers and making us feel like friends.

Wonderful establishment. My only complaint was the box spring under our bed was very bouncy such that I couldn't sleep all night with my husband tossing and turning. Otherwise, it was beautiful surroundings and top quality.

The Inn is very well kept and the Staff was extremely friendly and ensured we had everything we needed to make for a relaxing stay. The Procter Room was beautifully decorated, quaint and cozy feel and offered modern conveniences. I would recommend the Gateways if looking for a B&B in the Berkshires.

The Gateway Inn is simply exquisite. For a very reasonable price I had a lovely room. The owners and staff were quite helpful, including scraping snow off my windshield in the morning.. I would absolutely recommend this Inn! The curved railing on the center hall staircase is worth the price of the overnight stay. What a glow of beauty! I was visiting the Ultrawellness Center next door, literally 40 ft. from the Gateway, and my gracious hosts allowed me to check out as late as necessary and couldn't have been more lovely. Will never stay anywhere else in Lenox. PS On the internet I read a cruel review before I booked, and it made me hesitate; but their convenient location was the deciding factor. CANNOT BELIEVE how some nasty toxic person decides to pollute customers' opinions. What a shame that things like that are allowed to be published. ANYBODY can call me or email me to discuss this. That slander was really false. I'm a random guest and have no interest in writing this except to report the truth.

Rosemary and Fabrizio went beyond the call of duty to ensure a perfect getaway to the Bershires. The food was exquisite and the room was beautiful and comfortable and exceptionally clean!!!

The inn is beautiful, comfortable and very cozy, but the innkeeper is not at all friendly. There is a great bar and the food is very good, but there isn't a sitting area if you want to just lounge and read a book. Great location too.

I took my wife to the Gateways Inn for a short weekend getaway, leaving our 1-year-old with the grandparents, hoping for a quiet and romantic good night sleep. We got just what we were looking for and more. Tho owner Fabrizio was wonderfully warm and welcoming, and told us about the history of the Lenox "cottages." The inn and the room were beautiful and charming. Steps to great restaurants in the heart of the village. Breakfast was fine, although not quick. Altogether we'd recommend this inn highly and without reservation. Classic and historic, charming and quiet. I bet we'll be back!

From the room, to the food to the service we couldn't have asked for a nicer stay. Five stars!

I stayed here during the low season while in town for a medical appointment at the UltraWellness Center next door. The owners have a great relationship with the Center. It seemed that most of the inn's visitors were patients there. Both my room, the Battenburg, and the cozy breakfast room had gas fireplaces to keep toasty warm during the snowy weather. I wish my stay was longer so I could've tried out the jetted tub in the spacious bathroom. The meals were like those found at a fancier restaurant. While this was great for the included breakfast, it could add if all your dinners were on site. I walked to a few local restaurants in historic Lenox as well. The owners were very service oriented and friendly. Fabrizzio even offered to scrape the ice and snow off my car for me. :)

The Inn was a very nice place to stay. The room was spacious with a large comfy bed and the fireplace was a great touch. The service was good and everyone was friendly. Location was great, and the breakfast satisfactory.

The Gateways was again the site for our second family holiday away from home; we arrived with our newborn daughter and the delightful owners made our stay more than comfortable and memorable. Do not hesitate to book this B&B. The food is divine, the rooms are spotless and tasteful, the inn is lovely.

This is cute inn with well decorated rooms. Everything was clean and organized. The service was fantastic, as Fabrizio went out of his way to make you feel like you were at home. The fireplaces in the rooms were fantastic!

MY wife and I were met my Fabrizio at the door and shown to our room. OUr room was comfortable and the dinner that nilght at the restaurant and breakfast the next morning were out of this world. Will be back at some point.

Our family stayed at this Inn for 2 nights over the Christmas weekend. Both Fabrizio and Rosemary were wonderful and incredibly helpful. Our breakfast were delicious as well. We hope to continue this tradition next year.

The innkeepers are very hospitable and willing to entertain your requests - just ask them and they will let you know what is possible!

I had a wonderful stay at Gateways this month. I was traveling alone for a physician's appointment. Fabrizio & Rosemary went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. They are both charming and very welcoming. The meals were great and it was so convenient to have everything available in one location as the weather was chilly while I was there. The entire inn was immaculate, there were NO pets, and the only scents were the aroma of spices and good cooking. I would love to return with my husband.

Wonderful quaint bed and breakfast. Room was really nice and comfortable. I was on first floor and my room was near the bar area so I could hear talking at night but it was quiet after 11pm. Excellent service and food was great.

This inn, wonderfully kept and maintained, provides a most relaxing place to stay. Meals are superb. Ambience, charming. The Procter room is the loveliest inn room we've ever stayed in. We'd highly recommend the Gateways for a romantic get-away or just some quiet R&R. And right in the heart of Lenox!

I enjoyed my stay but my room was very warm and I could not control the heat. The food was excellent. I have never been to a bed & breakfast so I did not know what to expect.

The Gateways Inn is a beautifully maintained small hotel (or a large B&B) hosted by a charming innkeeper, Fabrizio Chiariello. It has comfortable rooms and offers a very delicious and generous breakfast with two different entrees on the occasion of our visit. Fabrizio also maintains an incredibly well-stocked and gorgeous bar. While my wife and I did not dine in the Inn's restaurant we would have done so had we stayed another night because the food at breakfast was delicious. We hope to stay there again. The owners of Gateway Inn were very gracious and helpful. Although the restaurant was open, we never saw a single patron for dinner. We chose to eat elsewhere as we did not want to be the only ones in the restaurant being waited on by the inn keepers -- we had enough time with them already. My review of the food was based on breakfast only.

The hosts at the Gateways Inn were charming and attentive. Some unexpected highlights: collections of over 100 single malt whiskeys and grappas and the best mushroom ravoli either of us have ever eaten (and my wife is from Rome!). Everything was immaculately clean.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The location is very handy to downtown , which is wonderful. We were not able to sample dinner or the included breakfast as we both had appts next door. We had heard all good reviews from people there.

We were bumped up to a more spacious, luxurious room, as there were very few people staying at this time. That was a treat. Nice, walkable distance to a good restaurant nearby and easy to find The Mount--a short drive away.

Because we got upgraded, he had an unexpectedly lovely room. Very convenient to main street and dining. Friendly innkeeper.

We arrived one day earlier than planned. Rosemary, one of the owners was at the desk and graciously found a room for us giving us the option to move the next day into the room we had picked on-line. The "new" room was immaculate, sunny and comfortable , and we chose to remain there for our stay. Although the inn is on one of the main roads into Lenox, it is set back on well-tended grounds and very quiet. We went to a concert at Tanglewood and a play in Stockbridge on two consecutive nights. The inn was located only a few minutes drive from both venues. and in walking distance to the center of town. Best of all, the bar and restaurant were open until midnight and served very nice meals even at 11:00 pm. Service in both the dining room and in the rest of the inn was friendly without being intrusive. We'll come back to this place for sure.

Gateways Inn is a great place to ’recharge the battery’ for a vacation. Still majestic, but not intimidating, the neoclassic building, work of the architect firm McKim, Mead, and White, has a unique appearance that stands out among the other Inns in the area. As you step in, hosts Fabrizio and Rosemary will make their best to make your vacation worthy to be remembered. The cozy breakfast room, the ample dining room and the huge bar with an outstanding variety of liquors and wines are the perfect set up to confirm that you have select the right place to enjoy the weekend. Lenox is surrounded by many interested places and activities such as Tanglewood music festival, Stockbridge Norman Rockwell Museum, or others to enrich your pleasure time and support the selection of the Inn.

I had a wonderful experience staying at the Gateways Inn. The guestroom was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. From the moment I arrived, Fabrizio and Rosemary were exceptional hosts. Their knowledge of Lenox and the whole Berkshire Region was incredible. They did a wonderful job making sure I visited all the worthwhile places to see in the area. The meals at the Gateways Restaurant were delicious! Rosemary's homemade cheesecake was bar far the best cheesecake I've ever had! I would definitely recommend the Gateways Inn & La Terrazza Restaurant to anyone traveling to Lenox area.

Far and away exceeded our expectations for a bed and breakfast. Cannot wait to return.

I don't think I've ever been to an inn with such spacious guest rooms, and I visit tons of inns. The Fiedler Suite is like an apartment! If you like spacious guest rooms, this is the place. I loved the bar and restaurant here too. Rosemary is a fabulous cook. Fabrizio, the other co-owner, has the most incredible selection of single malts I've ever seen anywhere - something like 250 selections. The inn is lovely, the innkeepers are interesting, the rooms are really nice.

I arrived to the Inn welcomed with an unexpected room upgrade, and warm, friendly service from the Innkeepers (per usual). We ate a delectible dinner by the fireplace as it snowed outdoors, and had a fireplace in the room also. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable. The Innkeepers serve a great complementary breakfast. We enjoy a stay at the Gateways during any season for rest and relaxation!
