The price was a bit of a budget stretch for me, but I had the cheapest room, downstairs on the corner, which was delightful, and luxurious for one person. The breakfasts are outstanding, and I was able to take a simple lunch of yoghourt, cookie and fruit each day for my long walks on the beach. Crane beach is spectacular, with infinite different aspects - beach, dunes, marshes, shells, driftwood. On my last morning, the staff encouraged me to hang around once I'd checked out of my room, and Bob even took me for a tour of the great house, which was one of the highlights of my visit. Staff were always delightful, If they provided frozen entrees and a microwave for evening meal I would have never even have driven into town! Fiona

The entire Crane Estate is magical. The Inn is very impressive and a lovely place to stay. The rooms are well represented by the website so in reality they met my expectations as did other things like service, value, and cleanliness. The breakfasts are good but the service in the dining room needs improvement as well as at the front desk, where one can wait a while before someone appears. There is something intimidating about having to pick up the phone that is at the front desk to call someone if you need something when they are within sight yet out of earshot. If peace is important do not stay at the Inn at a busy time because there tends to be too many inconsiderate guests who have no respect for the peace and tranquility of the place. This is no fault of the Inn but the place might be too commercialized at this point. I will try the place one more time and if I don't enjoy that stay then I doubt I'll return. This last visit I felt that something has been lost in the shuffle.

This inn is expensive, but worth every penny. We stayed in one of the best rooms, with lots of light and a spectacular expansive view of the ocean and a marsh. Every detail of our accommodations was perfect - fabulous towels and terrycloth robes, wonderful sheets. Service was attentive and impeccable. Each night a fire was lit in the living room for our enjoyment, and the staff was helpful with directions about places to visit. Nearby Crane Beach is one of the gems of Massachusetts, and our walk in the dunes was most rewarding. If you want to pamper yourself, this is the place to go! Also, there are no TVs or phone in the rooms -- our idea of what is necessary for a peaceful retreat.
