Inn Details
The Inn is owned and operated by George Pergantis; He was born in Greece in 1930, on the island of Andros; worked as a furniture maker; and then was 3rd Capt. on a Greek ship. He married and became a citizen and has three sons. He has been renovating the Inn since 1977. Opening day of the Inn was 12-15-1990, which marked a new era in the history of the Inn. Mr. Pergantis hopes the Inn will be as it was in the past to the citizens of Groton and area....a meeting place for friends to enjoy. It is perfect for a family function; quiet dinner; or overnight stay in one of the hand hewn pine canopy beds made by George himself.

George and Gloria enjoy travelling, sightseeing and sampling all types of local cuisine. Sometimes a new entree will turn up on the Inn's menu from their quest for interesting and flavorful foods. They enjoy a good chat with guests and like everyone to go home with a brief history of one of America's oldest working inns: THE GROTON STAGECOACH INN & RESTAURANT(circa 1678). The Inn welcomes 2 new chefs and is under new managment!

When we stayed it was off season so we did not see much of the staff except when checking in; we may have been the only guests at the time. It is an older facility but the room and bathroom was very clean. The "breakfast" was coffee (7AM) and cookies but there is a Dunkin Donuts right across the street - we brought breakfast back and sat on the front porch to eat. The "draw" for us was the location - proximity to family in the area. We did not see much going on in the restaurant in the evening.
