    Thank You, Carolyn!!!

    February 03, 2013

It's not easy finding the right place for a family of five. My husband, kids and I don't mind staying in one room. It's preferable to stay in the room with your kids when away from home, but if you have kids and love historic inns, you know it is not easy to find just the right accomodations. Baird Tavern was wonderful! The historic authenticity, livable, comfortable and child-friendly home was perfect for us. Warm and welcoming, Carolyn and her beautiful persian cat were so sweet. We love her conversation and also loved visiting after breakfast with the other guests. Beautiful birds fly around outside of the house. I can't tell you how good the blueberry pancakes were. I love to cook, but I can't figure out what Carolyn did to make such a special breakfast. Must be the love! Thanks, Carolyn Taylor!

    A wonderfully historic getaway.

    April 11, 2012

We just returned from three days at the Baird B&B. Our host was great with the kids and the home is an excellent example of american architecture from the late 1700's. Simply WOW.

    colonial experience with modern comfort

    June 16, 2010

You can easily imagine the travelers on horseback and wagons stopping for the night during colonial times; and talking and playing games in front of the fire, as we did. The house is immaculate and furnished comfortably, according to the period. The innkeeper made us feel very much at ease, as if we were her personal guests. Breakfast, enjoyed next to the wood stove while watching the birds at the feeders, was blueberry pancakes accompanied by, among other things, maple syrup and apple butter made from her own trees.

    a cozy getaway

    February 05, 2010

When I called the Baird Tavern to make a reservation, hostess Carolyn Taylor boasted about her delicious breakfasts. She did not exaggerate. My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at this lovely house that still feels as if it exists in the late 18th century, when it was built. The first morning, we woke up to the smell of coffee and bacon, which lured us downstairs to the cozy kitchen, where we watched a variety of birds flutter around a nearby tree while eating wild blueberry pancakes. The second morning we had omelets made to order, with red peppers that had just roased in the oven. The food is not the only thing worth raving about -- the place is immaculate and charming, and Carolyn made us feel like we were visiting an old friend rather than staying at a B&B. This will be our go-to spot whenever we're in the Berkshires. We had a truly lovely time and highly recommend the Baird to anyone who wants a nice, quiet weekend in Western MA.

Stay in a museum with every modern comfort

    December 14, 2009

Once a post-road tavern with rooms above, the building is beautifully preserved in all detail. This place is especially attractive in cold weather, with a fine wood fire and a comfortable cozy and tasteful sitting room. Excellent breakfast. Don't miss it.

    Baird Tavern B&B

    October 19, 2009

Serene and elegant. No teddy bear clutter. Furnished appropriately to the time it was built. Very charming and cozy. Excellent breakfast and the Innkeeper is also a delightful person. We highly recommend a stay here far away from crowds and noise.
