My boyfriend and I stayed here when we had to be in the area for the Maryland Faerie Festival as he was an artist there. We LOVED our stay! Carol is such a pleasant woman to have as a hostess. The mansion is just stunning and so nicely decorated and comfortable. We were really just looking for a reasonably priced place to stay while we were away from home and I'm so glad we found this gem! We will be back!

This is the best little b and b! My partner and I stayed here for only a night and wished we had stayed longer! From check in to check out, it is a completely unique, friendly and personable experience. The owner, Carol, is a fantastic lady and great cook. Her and her staff provide the most hospitable service. I recommend this hotel with utmost confidence. When we checked in, she was gracious enough to whip out a handy map and notate points of interest in Havre de Grace. She pointed out the best restaurants to eat and which ones had the best views. Carol also gave us the grand tour and showed us rooms that were not yet checked into. The house itself is an absolute gem. Spencer Silver is a Victorian antiquity bedecked with period pieces. Each room has its own personality and each and everyone of them is exquisite. Everything from the pocket doors to the mouldings to the carpeting is absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are incredibly cheap for their size and accommodations Yes, there is a shared bath but people come and go whenever so there is no problem securing the facilities. The garden out back is a stunner. We enjoyed coffee out there and forgot that we were in the real world. The little cat even came to pay us a visit. Breakfast was a home cooked gourmet affair. Carol takes request and delivers. She made these incredible pancakes. I wanted to take lessons from her. On a food note, she has little goodies, some homemade, scattered throughout the mansion. Most rooms have fruit and little candies. There is access to coffee and tea in the downstairs hall. There is also a little fridge down there if needed. This was by far the best service experience I have come across. Carol will sit and talk with you and generally, make you feel welcome and at home. I would definitely stay again. Everything was just perfect and made a great end to my vacation. If you get the chance to, this is one b and b opportunity you don't want to miss.

What a Wonderful place to get away from a busy schedule and just relax. The mansion was done very nicely, with beautiful furnishings, relaxing atmosphere and a very nice hostess (Carol). Havre De Grace was also very nice to just walk around and visit various shops.

We just spent 3 nights in the Carriage House at the Spencer Silver Mansion, it was AWESOME! The main house is a beautiful Victorian mansion and the lovely Carriage House sits directly behind it. We were looking for a cozy place to hunker down for the storm and this was the perfect place. The Carriage house is completely charming with the fireplace, spiral stair to the bedroom and great jacuzzi tub for two - the tub was great after walking around town in the snow! Breakfast was incredible. The staff were beyond pleasant and helpful. They even pay attention to little details, like having fresh ground coffee, creamer and candies in the room. Our entire stay was picture perfect. Whether you are coming from far away, or looking for a local hideaway, I strongly suggest you look into staying with Carol!

I reserved the carriage house for my one-year anniversary, and was totally happy I did it. I was only there for one night, but I plan on staying there again in the future. The carriage house is separate from the main house, so that's nice for privacy. It's two floors, with the bedroom on the second floor up a spiral staircase. The bed was very comfortable. There is a kitchenette, and a living room with a fireplace on the main floor. There is a hot-tub in the bathroom, and it's bigger than the picture makes it seem. Walking over to the home the next morning, we met the innkeeper for breakfast. She owns the home, and runs the B&B and is VERY approachable for conversation. The house is well kept, and clean. Carol (the innkeeper/owner) is very detail oriented, and it's apparent in how she's restored the home. Everything from period antiques, to detailed wallpaper on the ceiling, to custom Italian plasterwork on the ceiling, to stained glass windows. Even the outside of the house is taken care of...which is saying A LOT for old Victorian homes like this. To sum it up, this place is totally worth the price alone, but if you talk to Carol and walk around the house you'll get more than you paid for.
