Hollerstown Hill Bed and Breakfast

  • Inn Details

The Hollerstown Hill Bed & Breakfast is a wonderful example of late victorian architecture built in c.1900 by Sarah and Richard Dutrow, owners in the late 1800s of the Dutrow Confectionary. The bed & breakfast is graced with carved mantels, fireplaces, period antiques, reproductions, and collectibles. For example, Betty displays her large collection of dolls throughout the house. There is a game room in which you'll find a traditional billiards table plus nooks for board games, including a chess set with Civil War characters. The four guest rooms are spacious, each with air conditioning, sitting area and private bath, and each uniquely decorated. Begin your day with freshly brewed coffee or tea. Indulge in a full country breakfast featuring home-baked breads, fresh juices, fruit, yogurt, granola, cereals, and sumptuous casseroles. Guests can relax on the wrap-around porch or garden patio, enjoy the game room, or leisurely stroll to the charming historic district of Frederick to visit the shops, museums, local events, and many restaurants. There are many additional historic sites a short drive away.

My wonderful husband and I had a lovely stay at the Hollerstown Hill Inn. The decor is very Victorian, cozy and comfortable. The innkeeper has extensive collections of dolls and ceramic figures on display. The house is lovingly cared for and furnished. There's a terrific billiards table in the parlor. Our room was large with an ensuite bathroom. Our only complaint is that the corner sink is quite small...but that is a minor matter. Breakfast was plentiful and so nicely served. The innkeepers are very friendly and knowledgable of the area. Our mission for the visit to Frederick was dinner at Volt....an easy walk from the inn. There's great antique shopping and many dining venues in the downtown area. I hope we can return there soon.

Great place for a weekend getaway, highly recommend!

Located just off of I70, this bed and breakfast was wonderful for a night away. Betty and Phil were very accommodating and great to speak with. The rooms were very clean and the house overall was very quaint. I highly recommend this B&B.

My parents came to visit for a night and I decided to spoil them with a stay at this B&B. The owner was very sweet and warmly welcomed us with a tour of the home. We had a great time playing pool and listening to music in the main floor, while enjoying little snacks and drinks they've set around the common area for guests. It was within walking distance to Downtown Frederick. The owner even got up a little earlier than usual to have coffee and muffins ready for my parents, who had to leave at 6am! Overall a wonderful experience that I highly recommend to other travelers. My parents look forward to another comfortable stay on the next visit from NY.

Nice place located near downtown Frederick. The claw foot tub and pull chain toilet added to the ambiance. The Inn Keepers were very accommodating and served us a wonderful breakfast in the morning - the pancake and turkey sausage casserole was outstanding!

My wife and I stayed with Betty and Phil several years ago and chose to return on our recent visit. The Inn is as interesting, nicely located, and comfortable as we remembered. Whenever we're in the area, we'll stay there!
