Ray and Heidi were super nice and so helpful! They gave us some pointers on some great places to check out and where to find great lobster. The room we stayed in was lovely, private, and felt like home. The muffins are incredible!!! They alone are worth the stay in my opinion. Additionally, it's just a quick walk to the ocean and the life of Old Orchard.

Lovely time was had at the Atlantic Birches Inn. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Ray and Heidi were terrific hosts. The value was very good and Ray was very helpful in suggesting places to visit. Heidi made some excellent suggestions for our dinner choices.

My mother and I greatly enjoyed our stay in "The Alberta" room at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The room was lovely and very clean, and the breakfast muffins were delicious. Ray was also very helpful in recommending restaurants and interesting sights on our drive to Boston the next day.

My Mom and I really needed a relaxing getaway, and we found it! The Atlantic Birches Inn has incredible antiques and offers comfortable rooms, and incredible hospitality. We found this wonderful B&B outside of Portland on our trip through NE. Ray was super helpful about the area - making recommendations on things to do & where to eat. He even printed us out a map for a scenic drive to take the next day into NH.

On our trip through New England, this was a perfect place to spend a night. It is a charming place, and we would happily return if the opportunity presents itself. The staff was extremely helpful in every way.

This is a lovely property with such nice owners! They offer a great continental breakfast with homemade muffins! Stayed in the off season so things were quiet but very enjoyable. Lots of good dining nearby.

This was a beautiful B&B and maybe the best, most well decorated that we've stayed in! You get the feeling like you are the first one to stay in your room. This is for those who do not want a TV in your room, although there is one in the common area. It was not a hot breakfast, but it was very good. We heard no other guests and got a good night's rest on our long trip through the northeast.

The inn was kept up very nicely. If the inn is considered a B&B, a larger breakfast would be desired. What was provided was mostly a continental breakfast.

We enjoyed our two nights at this cozy house. I particulary liked the way it was decorated for the season and that the main living room was nice to relax before going to our room. The breakfast was more like a continental syle but very equiped with cereals and home made muffins.

Good value for the price and the loecation. Very good tips for sightseeing. Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

We only had a short time to stay at the Atlantic Birches, but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Rooms were clean and well-decorated, breakfast was welcoming and tasty. We also got great recommendations on things to do during our short stay in the area.

This B & B was very nice and quiet, easy to find and right at the end of the main street. It was a quarter of a mile walk to the beach and amusement park. Two things could have been better. The breakfast was a bare bones continental breakfast. We were there at the end of September and ther was no heat in the room.

Sorry to hear that you found some items that could have been better. You have stated that we are a quarter of a mile from the beach we are about a 2 minute walk to the beach which is about 150 yards sorry there is nothig we can make better than that. As for the heat in the room it is set at 68 degrees, if you felt that is was chilly you could have contacted us and we would have turned it up. The contiental breakfast is Coffee, teas, juices, milk, cereals, various breads, fresh fruit salad and daily made fresh muffins. Nowhere on our ad here or on our website do we mislead where our location is or what our breakfast consists of.

Our stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn was exquisite. The innkeepers provided us with suggestion for seeing sites for or short stay in the area that results in a wonderful vacation experience for our family. I cannot wait to return to this location to spend some more time visiting Orchard Beach. A huge treat at a great value!!!

We didn't get the room that we reserved online, but were offered our 2nd choice, which was a wonderful room as well. We were both very impressed with the detail in decorating! There was not a hot breakfast, but it was adequate. There was no TV in the bedroom, but the main common area did have one, so that was satisfactory. The other guests were quiet and that was very much appreciated! We enjoyed our stay!

Heidi was very accommodating, with she and Ray running a fine inn. It was exactly what we were looking for, and exactly as advertised.

We only stayed one night in this B&B in late September, but it was delightful. We stayed in the cottage. It is so charmingly decorated. We enjoyed sipping our wine on the front porch lounge chairs before a short walk for dinner to a restaurant recommended by the owner. Breakfast was continental style but they offered tasty muffins, fresh cut up fruit, breads, cereal, coffee, tea and juice. Very good value. This would be an excellent place to stay with a family with the beach, shops. and amusement park nearby, and pool on the property,

Owner very friendly, excellent location, rooms clean and quiet. I would definitely stay here again when visiting OOB and the Portland area. The breakfast was simple but satisfying, and very healthy.

Although the breakfast was continental, all the items appeared to be store bought. We were under the impression that a B & B would provide home baked items. Also, the soups, etc were not replaced on a daily basis. We had to go out and purchase shampoo, conditioner and soup.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were not happy with the breakfasts that we serve here at the Inn. We serve breakfast to over seventy couples and families a week and have never heard a complaint about the quality of breakfast items served. Our day starts at 5am each morning to prepare the continental breakfast that we to serve our guests each morning. We serve a continental breakfast and it is clearly stated on our website what the breakfast consists of. The wheat bread is 100% stone ground whole wheat and is a major brand (Pepperidge Farm), the English Muffins are Thomas’s are store bought. The bagels are N.Y. Style brand bagels that are par baked fresh each morning and cannot be purchased in a store. The fruit salad is made fresh daily not premade from a jar. The cereals served are Kellogg’s corn flakes and General Mills cheerios not store brands\labels. We are very sorry you did not like the muffins they are not store bought they are baked fresh daily with fresh fruit ingredients, no preservatives, no oil and they are made from scratch with a high end mix (Krusteaz). As for the bathroom amenities we do not replace them daily, but we will replace them upon request. We find that most guests bring their own favorite shampoos, conditioners and soaps.

We had our room in the main house which is really beautiful and well conserved. Ray, the owner is really generous of clear advices on good restaurants, places to see, and the best scenic road to continue our trip to Ogunquit.

Our stay at Atlantic Birches was one of the best experiences we have had at any Bed and Breakfast. The Continential Breakfast that was provided each morning was better than we have ever had. We didn't have to think about anything because it was done before we had to ask. Our room was good for sleeping and we never had to worry about anything. Would recommend Atlantic Birches to our friends.

Was a perfect place for my honeymoon. Just far away from the busy streets but close enough to enjoy all the restaurants and beach.

Took my boyfriend here for a weekend getaway for his birthday. We absolutely LOVED our stay. We stayed in the cottage house. Our room was cozy and the entire place was EXTREMELY Clean and very well kept! Ray & Heidi were so helpful upon arrival. Gave us great recommendation on things to do and places to eat. We loved our stay at the Atlantic Birches and plan on going back. It is a short walk to the beach and many restaurants. The owners were very helpful and recommended some great places to eat and see. It was a quiet place and very comfortable. We stayed in the room with the bathroom in the hallway in the main house and it worked out fine. We loved having a glass of wine on the front porch at night- it was very relaxing. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer.

Stayed in the Fiske room. VERY comfortable king bed. Room and bathroom were clean. Room and hallway smelled heavily of cheap air perfumes or potpourri. Bath towels were poly-cotton blend. Very close to boardwalk (good location!). Breakfast was a major disappointment: they claim to provide "fresh home made muffins"...either they cannot bake or, as I suspect, the muffins were picked up at the local Walmart/Costco. Breakfast included: coffee and tea (low quality teas), bread aisle bagels, English muffins and sliced bread, a selection of pasty and clearly not homemade muffins, corn flakes and cheerios and a fruit salad. No yoghurt, nothing home cooked. Fruit salad was good, no issues there. Would not stay here again because it was overpriced considering the low quality breakfast.

This stay was as nice as most B & B's I've used. Considering the extremely poor lodging in Old Orchard Beach, this was a diamond in the rough. I would book a room there again.

I loved the pretty pair of blue buildings lined with birches, the lovely wrap around porch, the charming Victorian interior, and its proximity to the water. The fruit salad and homemade muffins were particularly wonderful.

The house was well maintained and clean. Missed tv in room only had an old tv in living area. Extremely small shower. No extras. Continental only breakfast. Walking distance to beaches.

No where is it stated that there is TV's in the rooms and that the breakfast in both buildings is anything more than a continental breakfast that consists of coffee, teas, juices, cold cereals, fresh made muffins, bagels, toasting bread, english muffins, jams, peanut butter, cream cheese, butter and fresh fruit salad. As for the old TV downstairs in the living room that is its orginal cabinet that goes with the decor of the livingroom and the television componentin it has been rebuilt and is a HD TV with over 200 hundred cable stations, don't judge a book by its cover. As for the shower being small it is a regular sized shower for one person. Not sure what extras you were looking for.

My partner and I, my sister, brother in law, 2 grown nephews and 1 neice stayed in The Abbott suite, Lafayette Suite and The Velvet. Most of us had never stayed in a B&B before and everyone reported enjoying the experience very much. All rooms and baths were very clean. The Abbott suite where I stayed is 2 attic rooms (partially sloping ceilings) with a shared bath. The Abbott rooms and shower are a little small for big people - better for average size people or a couple with children. However we were comfortable there other than the shower being a little small. The Velvet and Lafayette suite are both good size. The continental breakfast included coffee, tea, juice, milk, two cereals, bagels, english muffins, toast, very nice fresh fruit bowl everyday and delicious fresh baked muffins. I initially booked us there based on price (good value) and it turned out to be a perfect place for my extended family. The inn keepers, Ray and Heidi were very nice and friendly - we followed their dining recommendations for Joseph's By The Sea (upscale and just great for a special birthday) and The Rising Tide (great value and perfect). We loved the room, small but cosy. Loved the pool, very clean, very helpful suggestions on where to eat etc., excellent location and nice breakfasts. Wish there could have been another chair possibly at the table and slightly softer bed, but all in all a fabulous place.

We made last minute plans to go to the beach for two days and while I was looking for something on the beach, we were fortunate to find a vacancy at the Atlantic Birches Inn, named for the beautiful Atlantic Birch trees that grace the front lawn and shade the wrap-around porch. I am partial to Victorian architecture and this lovely 1904 house with its period antiques did not fail to please. I slept in a Victorian wrought iron bed as a child so the bed in the Alberta room brought back happy memories of my grandmother's home. The hosts are welcoming and accomodating to special requests. The inn is a few minutes walk from the Old Orchard Beach Pier and we were able to leave the car at the inn and walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and amusement park. For those who don't like to swim in the ocean the inn has a pool. Our room was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. The porch is the perfect place to wind down before bed after a long day of play, and in the morning have your morning coffee and continental breakfast there. I would not hesitate to go back to the Atlantic Birches Inn.

I found this Bed and Breakfast online and booked it for a one night stay before meeting up with friends in Portland. The location was excellent. Quiet area but within walking distance to the shops, restaurants and beach. We were greeted and shown to our room with a friendly smile and all our questions were answered and recommendations were given. The room we were in was very clean, a little small with the slanted ceiling, but we knew that when we booked. The breakfast was light and not what you typically get at a B&B, but again we knew that when we booked. All in all it was perfect for us and would stay again.

This was our 6th. time at the Atlantic Birches. Ray & Heidi are very attentive to their guest. We will be going back again!

Lovely place to stay and a short walk to the beach area. Breakfast muffins were delicious! I would suggest a closer look at QC.....a lot of crumbs found on dresser in my room when checking in; rather 'weedy' in areas; area under Cottage stairwell needed raking; daily vacuuming needed in Cottage upstairs sitting area and room. It is the little things....that set apart good and best.

The Atlantic Birches was a great place to stay. Charmingly decorated to the 'nth degree. Quiet. Great muffins and coffee. My only disappointment was Old Orchard Beach. The beach area was like a carnival. Fun if that is your thing but not what I was looking for. The B & B was great retreat to once I saw what the beach area was like. Would stay there again if in the area.

We had a delightful time at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The location, hospitality, service, and our room all exceeded our expectations. We stayed 3 nights in the Gables. If you're planning on spending more time in your room, then a larger room might be recommended. We didn't spend much time actually in the room, so it met our needs. Ray and Heidi were very accommodating to our needs including beach chairs and umbrella and printing our boarding passes.

The overall experience of our stay at Atlantic Birches was lovely. We stayed in the cottage. The room was very clean and tidy, the bathroom was huge and very tastefully decorated. The only drawback with the stay was that the kitchen was very small. You had to serve yourself as Heidi would bring the continental breakfast over from the main house early in the morning. There was another couple staying in the cottage while we were there, when we came down to breakfast the kitchen got quite crowded, I would hate to imagine what it would be like if the cottage was full! Apart from that we had a lovely stay and Heidi's husband was very helpful with giving us ideas on where to go next and supplying us with maps for our journey through Maine.

How can a place so close to everything be so quiet? Well, the Atlantic Birches is just that. Last week was our third stay and my wife, son and I enjoy the convience the AB offers. We'll be back!!!

The owners were friendly and helpful. Our room was one of the least expensive and it showed. It was quite small and we had no headroom in much of the space because we were under a slanted ceiling. I would not choose this room again. We were given only a continental breakfast which was good, but I have gotten much better in other B & Bs. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. I felt we paid too much for what we got.

The innkeepers were friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgable of the places to go, see, and eat at. The continental breakfast was delicious. Homemade muffins, perfect coffee, fruit, and cereals. The room was neat, clean, and adorably decorated. The bathroom was large and the whole house was comfortable. It was like having your own little cottage for the weekend. The yard is nicely landscaped and you can walk right Old Orchard Beach. The drive to Portland and the Portland Head Light is about 25 minutes. I can't wait to go back and highly recommend it! The price is very good in comparison to local motels, hotels, and inns.

We regard our guests very highly and make sure every effort is made to make their stay as enjoyable, comfortable and informative as possible. Not sure why you would consider the Cottage breakfast below as mediocre. But thanks for your feedback. Breakfast in the cottage is fresh baked muffins, coffee, teas, juices, hot Chocolate, various cold cereals (Cherrio's & Corn Flakes), milk, fresh seasonal fruit, and various breads for toasting. We learn from your reviews and take them seriously and make changes accordingly but it is not easy task to make everybody happy all the time but we do try.

This was our 3rd time staying here! We love it! Ray and Heidi are wonderful and are very friendly. Everytime we stay they let's us leave our car at the B&B after we check out so we do not have to pay to park at OOB! Breakfast ivery light, but that is what it states on their website...I am fine with a muffin for breakfast...my husband not so much. So if you like more than muffins and cereal you might not want to plan on eating here! Other than that it is a great place and very well kept!

Ray and Heidi have a wonderful B&B in Old Orchard Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend their establishment to anyone. Their knowledge of the local area and attractions was very helpful. Their rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the location is perfect - close enough to the beach to enjoy it but far enough away to miss the evening noise.

I found this B & B online and am happy to say that it was all that it advertised itself to be - and more! The location was perfect! Close enough to the 'action' of beach and shops and entertainment to walk most everywhere - but far enough away so that when you returned to the Inn you were not assaulted with noise and lights when trying to sleep! The owners were friendly and helpful as well. We have definitely added it to our 'will visit again' list!

My boyfriend and I stayed for a weekend recently. Heidi and Ray were very helpful in telling us about the area and the room was clean and comfortable. The Inn has a great location- close to the beach and a short drive from Portland. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the Inn as a great place to stay.

Ray and Heidi are some of the nicest people! I'm glad to have met them. My boyfriend and I stayed in the room called "The Velvet". It was lovely room. I would've given it a 5 star, but there were a few things that needed repair. Very minor details. The home was very lovely and the breakfast was just what I needed, though my boyfriend likes more meat options. It was very well kept and, aside for minor things, very well taken care of. I grew up in an old home, so I understand how it's very hard to keep on top of all repairs at all times. They do a very good job of it. It seemed a smidge expensive, but still affordable, and what I would expect to pay for a lovely home like this. I'm glad we stayed here and will certainly want to come back in the future.

My husband and I spent two nights there. The room was awesome, so romantic and clean! In the morning, we had breakfast with the other couples staying there, and everyone was so pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, the fresh fruit was fantastic. Gourmet? No, but just the light meal you want before you dive into your day! We loved everything about our stay, and I'm booking another one as soon as I post this! :)

Spend a few nights at the Atlantic Birches Inn visiting my brother and family. Great recommodations for dining and seeing the sites. My family loved the way the house was decorated and lighted for Christmas, really felt like being at home . Ray and Heidi are great innkeepers and very attentive to our needs. I would highly reccommend staying there.

My wife and I stayed at Atlantic Birches Inn for our first wedding anniversary (late October) and we had a great time there. We stayed in the Vespers Suite for 4 nights and had a very enjoyable time. The surroundings were very quaint and the solitude of the place was very relaxing. The location is excellent, too -- this cannot be emphasized enough -- and is a great distance, north and south, from all sorts of Maine attractions, and even some very nice drives down Route 1. The muffins in the morning were very tasty and the amenities in the suite were perfect for a nice little stay. The only downside was a slight lack of warm water at times, but it didn't last long and certainly wouldn't stop me from staying again at Atlantic Birches. I would like to say, too, that the value of the inn is impressive, considering other options -- so it's a great place to go if you want a bang for your buck. Ray and Heidi were extremely pleasant.

The room was cleaned daily and very comfortable. the location was close to all the activity. Breakfast was homemade muffins and coffee or OJ.

This was our first time staying at a bed & breakfast, and definitely will not be our last at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The best way to express our visit overall is to say that we were truly cared for. Significant attention to all the details of our stay was the order of the day. Ray and Heidi are truly wonderful hosts.

This is a very nice home and the hosts are also very nice. However, for the price of the stay the breakfast was very poor. It was a snack at best and therefore should not be promoted as a B&B.

Ray & Heidi certainly do themselves proud - a really lovely home and accommodation ! We would certainly return if the opportunity arises. The muffins in the morning are to die for - but you have to get up early as some guests are greedier as others as we found out to our disgust! You can't blame them though as they really are delicious! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and very aptly named.

Positive: Impressed by the cleanliness and attention to detail. Negative: Originally tried booking the room for 2 nights on Columbus Day weekend and our reservation was rejected to to the strict policy of a 3 night minimum on holiday weekends. While I understand they want to fill the inn for all three nights of the holiday weekend and maximize their profits, this policy is not very customer friendly and did not sit well. Other than that, everything was great!

The Innkeepers were very friendly. They gave us insight into local places to dine and things to see. The Inn was very clean and cozy. We were given fresh muffins, coffee and orange juice every morning. The Inn is close to major highways/streets so it has easy access to other towns and cities. It is also within walking distance to the Pier and ocean.

Our room was very small with no t.v. However, we weren't there much, so not really a problem. After staying in other B & B's it was not the plush, 4 star experience we're accustomed to. One of the reviews we read before booking stated they had fresh fruit with the muffins - this was not our experience, but I'll have to say the muffins were tasty. Overall a pretty decent experience.

Ray was very helpful with giving us directions and pointing us to a terrific restaurant after a long day of driving!! We stayed in the Cleaves room and it was very cozy and super clean!! This was an exceptional B&B. The room was very clean and cosy. The owners shared their plans with us, which showed us that they are continually working to improve the facility. They have been in business for 10 years, which is exceptional for a B&B. The bathroom was not part of the room, but was private and was only a short walk from the room. We enjoyed our stay and would consider this inn again for a stay in OOB.

My girlfriend and I recently spent three nights at the Atlantic Birches Inn, staying in one of the suites. We had a wonderful time in Old Orchard Beach, and loved Atlantic Birches. It's location is excellent, and the rooms were very comfortable and homey.

Rooms on second floor of cottage feel closed in because only (small) window has an air conditioner and you can't see out. Home made muffins for breakfast were good but make a skimpy breakfast.

We are sorry you felt this way about the room. The Cottage guest house cannot be centraly air conditioned, that is why we install window air conditioners for the Summer months (Mid June - Mid Sept). We do still get hot hummid days in mid September. We cannot please everyone but we do try our best to accommodate all guests. I am sure if you were here on one of those hot hummid September days like today and the Air Conditioner was not installed you would have written about the lack of air conditioning and warm temerature in the room. As you can see we cannot please every guest every time, we are truly sorry for any inconvience this may have caused you on your stay.

Ray and Heidi were more than kind, they were informative, helpful, and genuinely interested in our comfort and activities. The room was beautiful, clean, and offered plenty of space. The entire trip was well worth it with the trip to Pemaquid Point being the highlight. This is definitely a place that I want to visit again!

Our stay at Atlantic Birches was great. The room was clean and the place was very quiet. Also within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. Innkeepers (well, I guess we only interacted with Ray) were very nice and helpful giving us maps and offering up suggestions on things to do and places to eat. Only major disappointment was breakfast, but then again we were just coming off a stay at another B&B where the woman made 3 course hot breakfasts every morning. I don't know which is more typical, but here they would just put out muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, etc. The stay was very nice and I would recommend to others.

We staid only 3 nights.The room (Alberta) was so original, coloured and confortable. The breakfast was wery good with a special regard for the muffins. We didn't use the pool because the edrsand beach (wonderful and very long) was close to the Inn. Privat parking available and safe. We met only Ray, person very kind and always ready to satisfy all our request.

This old house was unique, cozy, & comfortable with intriguing & unusual antiques. Friendly & knowledgeable innkeeper. A great selection for stepping back in time. We greatly enjoyed it!

The inn keepers were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were very nice and as described on the website. The muffins for breakfast every morning were out of this world. I would definately stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

This cute B&B was what we expected as a nice home base for our mini 3 night vacation in Maine. We would recommend it to others and stay there again if in the area. The muffins were delicious and Ray was very helpful with suggestions on places to eat.

I stayed in a cottage room, so things may be different for rooms in the main house. The room was lovely, spotless, and comfortable and the innkeepers were lovely and helpful. The only unpleasant aspect about the stay was the breakfast. It consisted only of muffins that, while home baked, had clearly been stored for they were tacky and some of them were undercooked. This is a great place to stay for access to the beach and shopping, but don't plan on the price including a hot breakfast if you're in the cottage.

This little Inn in Old Orchard Beach is very, very cute. The innkeepers are super friendly even in this busy time of year for them. They take time out to make certain you know where places are. We stayed the last week in July for 2 nights. The rooms are darling, the beds are smaller than stated size, but very, very comfortable. Everything is clean, neat, well-taken care of. Some of the cottage rooms are not for people over 5ft7in because of the slanted ceilings, but that was not a problem for us. The breakfast was delightful, simple-exactly the way we like it. The beach is straight out the door, across the street, down the sidewalk. It's exactly what we needed for our 2 nights. We would have stayed 3, but the place was already booked. Ray and Heidi are very kind,sweet people even with all the busy-ness around them. They enjoy their work. Thank you very much.

This was the first time staying at a B&B for my husband and I, and it was an excellent first experience. Ray the innkeeper greeted us and gave us tips on some nearby restaurants to try, then showed us to our beautiful room! We stayed in The Alberta room and it was immaculately clean! I tend to be a little fussy about the cleanliness of any hotels I stay at...this place exceeded my expectations! The bed was one of the most comfortable of any place I've stayed and the sheets were silky soft! The bed linens and towels also had a wonderful scent, don't know what kind of detergent or fabric softener they use, but it smelled great! The attention to detail in the room was very noticeable, it was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean! They obviously take a great deal of pride in their B&B. The breakfast was exactly as it is stated on their website, fresh fruit, fresh baked muffins, bread, coffee, tea and juice, served in a very cute dining room. We felt so comfortable and relaxed staying here. Also, it's within short walking distance of the beach and Pier and all the activity, but yet far enough away that's it's very quiet and peaceful at night! I would stay here again in a second, and would recommend it to anyone! The only regret about our stay was that it wasn't for a longer time!

My wife and I had stayed for five nights at the Atlantic Birches Inn in late July 2011. From the moment we first arrived we felt we were at home. Heidi and Ray greeted us and took care of anything we through at them. Our stay was an absolute treat. The room was spacious, well decorated and immaculate. We could not believe how close it was from Old Orchard Beach. It was nice we could walk to everything within 2 or 3 minutes. The breakfast they prepared every morning was wonderful. We would love to stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn again.

With its charm and location, this B&B met all of our expectations! The hosts were very helpful, kind and generous. My sister and I appreciated this week-end with our grown-up daughters who will want to come back with their friends.

We spent our 41st annivaersary night in the Bridal (Old Orchard Room) Room. The room was tastefully decorated. The innkeepers (Heidi and Ray) were so helpful. Breakfast was delicious!!

We have been staying in a hotel in OOB the last week in July for over 20 years with my husband's family. We did not think we would be able to attend so we didn't make a reservation. Of course our plans changed but there were no more hotel reservations available. In a last minute effort, we booked a room at the Atlantic Birches Inn. We did not know what to expect since we have never stayed at a B+B but wanted to be up at OOB. WOW! were we ever surprised and delighted! It was a wonderful stay. The Inn is beautiful and our room was right out of the victorian era. We had our own private bathroom and plenty of closet space. The room was immaculate and the beds were so comfy. Heidi and Ray are so down to earth and helpful. My husband and I like to bike ride and they gave us excellent suggestions and directions to wonderful riding paths. We will certainly be back again! While the room was very nice, it is hard to call it a bed and breakfast when breakfast is a muffin and coffee. The people were very nice and it was an enjoyable place to stay.

My husband and I stayed in a suite in the cottage. Just lovely! Muffins were delicious, especially the apple pie muffin and the strawberry peach muffin. As expected, muffins are the only breakfast food served at the cottage. Not the typical breakfast at a bed and breakfast.

Our two night stay was satisfactory...most everything was as advertised. The only detractor was that the common areas (halls, stairwell, living and dining rooms) were not air conditioned. The weather was unseasonably hot during our stay which would have made "whole house" airconditioning nice to have. Individual room window AC units made the bedrooms comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

I'm so glad that we selected this bed and breakfast for our stay in Old Orchard Beach. Heidi and her husband were so welcoming and helpful. Muffins were varied each day, the coffee was hot, and the tea choices were plentiful. If you are looking for a classy place just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beach, THIS IS IT! It was quiet and peaceful, but just a short walk to the pier. This b&b is a great choice--NO regrets!!

We had a pleasant stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn, despite bad weather. Our room was comfortable, but the mattress was very firm. Breakfast was adequate, muffins & fruit, although a full breakfast would have been nice. Nice & friendly owners, were unobtrusive.

Heidi and Ray were fantastic hosts and were there to answer any question. They recommended places to see, directions and places to eat. Breakfast was a treat with lovely fresh fruit and yummy muffins. A wonderful place to stay and we will recommend it to anyone going to Old Orchard Beach.

Great B&B to stay at in Old Orchard Beach. Close enough to the beaches to walk to or drive a little up the beach for more privacy. The rooms were clean and it felt close to home. The fresh muffins were yummy. My daughter was sick and the Innkeepers were very accomodating and went out of there way to make her feel comfortable. I would stay here again. Plus the recommendations they gave for things to do and places to eat where great!

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Atlantic Birches. The Abbot Suite was perfect for our family of four. My husband, son and I had our own room with 2 beds (queen and twin) and my mom had her own room with a queen bed. It was like having our own little apartment on the 3rd floor. The bathroom that adjoins the two rooms is quite spacious and there are ceiling fans as well as air conditioning. You can tell that Ray and Heidi give this inn a lot of love and attention. It is very well-kept, very clean and all of the rooms are beautiful. They do an excellent job of accommodating all kinds of travelers--families, couples, young, old, etc. Having a pool was and added bonus and my 7 year old really enjoyed it. The beach, restaurants, amusement park, etc. is no more than a 5 minute walk from the inn and Ray and Heidi gave lots of good suggestions for things we could do nearby in Portland and Freeport. Ray's restaurant picks were spot on! And the muffins at breakfast are simply divine! Our favorites were the Apple Pie and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip. We enjoyed chatting with fellow guests during breakfast or at the pool and the innkeepers create a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Atlantic Birches is a gem and we would definitely stay there again.

We had a great family getaway at the Atlantic Birches Inn. My husband and I stayed in a cottage suite with our two daughters (8 and 6). The room was VERY clean, the layout was nice, and we appreciated that the room had a small kitchenette for our food. We LOVED the location--it was easy to walk to everything, but it was away from all the noise and congestion of the pier and beach. Our daughters LOVED the pool, too. The muffins every morning were great, but after the third day, it would have been nice to have some variety (maybe some bagels or English muffins or fruit). I would definitely recommend the Atlantic Birches to a friend; we thought it was a great value for our vacation!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back again. Ray and Heidi, the innkeepers, were so nice and gave us fabulous dining recommendations. The inn is walking distance from the beach, boardwalk and the Amtrak station. The innkeepers have a beautiful home which is seen in the attention to detail throughout the house. Coffee and other breakfast goodies, especially the muffins, were delicious!

Ray was most pleasant and hepful for any questions we had. The room was clean and well appointed, as was the bath. We were delighted and are looking forward to another stay there in the future. The location was excellent for local attractios like the beach, or for touring other parts of the state.

What an awesome 4 night stay! Our motorcycle trailer was a bit larger than we thought but Ray had no problem making room for it and our bikes. Right from our arrival Ray and Heidi made themselves available and had fantastic dining and motorcycle route advice. The Old Orchard room was spotless, tastefully decorated in vintage wedding memorabilia, and had a great breeze with the bay windows opened. During our visit the inn was always quiet despite being a full-house. Breakfast was perfect. FRESH home made muffins and FRESH fruit and juices. Just enough to hold you over until you find a cool shack for lunch. Ray & Heidi take the time to make each guest feel important at breakfast by asking questions and offering up any tips they have. Take his advice on dinners and don't waste your time at mainstream restaurants. All in all we had a perfect stay at Atlantic Birches and can't wait to come back.

Wonderfully clean inn with a great location to the beach and Portland. Innkeeper had lots of great suggestions for things to do, along with maps and brochures of local attractions.

Ray and Heidi are very pleasant, very helpful hosts. The room was a little awkward to get around what with the low, slanted ceiling in "the Cleves". We also wished we could have opened the one window to get some of that cool Maine air in the evening, but we were happy to have the air conditioner. Very convenient location to the main drag in Old Orchard Beach and only 5-10 minute walk to the beach.

We stopped Atlantic Birches on a trip down Maine coast; we drove down the coast to Kennebunkport, York, ... to explore the coast including light houses, rocky shores, beaches, and we returned to rest at Atlantic Birches. We slept well!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn in Old Orchard Beach , Maine for two days last week. We had tried to get a room in the main house but it was so popular we settled for a cottage room. What a pleasant suprise! The first night we had the lovely beach cottage almost to ourselves. The rooms were impeccably clean, with adorable seascape decor and quaint cottage touches everywhere. The owner was very friendly and helpful with attractions, directions and restaurant information. The cottage was a short distance to a great family beach and midway with rides, food, ice cream, shops and fun everywhere! The breakfast for the cottage was wonderful although a little less lavish than the main house but that was understandable and clearly stated on their website. We especially adored the pumpkin muffins and the coffee was excellent. We would go back to Old Orchard Beach again in a heart beat and gladly stay in the Atlantic Birches beach cottage again. Next time I hope to book a room in the main Victorian house which looked beautiful. You will not regret your choice if you decide to try this well-appointed B & B .

This is a very nice inn, however not really a bed and breakfast. There were coffee, juice and muffins only. We loved the location and the inn keepers were very nice and helpful. The location is great, very close to pier & boardwalk.

We had a nice stay at this bed & breakfast; it was quiet, comfortable and clean. Also near the downtown area and beach - within walking distance. Only inconveniences would be there is no rear entrance to use and all parking is in the back on of the house. You have to carry all your belongings from the parking lot out back all the way around to the front of the house. There are champagne buckets in the rooms but you cannot get ice from anywhere in the house yourself - have to find innkeepers who reside in a section of the house. But despite these minor inconveniences, we did have a nice stay.

We are looking forward to spending more time at Atlantic Birches. Heidi and Ray are wonderful hosts, and we love the atmosphere of the inn.

I stayed at the Atlantic Birches Inn for my honeymoon. We stayed in the Old Orchard room which, to my surprise, was wedding themed! I didn't even plan that, and it was perfect. Heidi and Ray are really sweet folks who gave us great recommendations on authentic places to eat. I liked the location as it was near the main strip, but not right on it. Our room was quiet and calm with a quick walk to the beach and shopping. My only low rating is on the dining section because I thought the breakfast was a little skimpy compared to other B & B's where I've stayed. The breakfast is "continental" style with muffins, bagels, cereal, and fruit salad. Though I could tell it was made with love, it did leave me wanting lunch a little earlier than usual. However, as I said before, everything else was outstanding!

Enjoyed our stay at Atlantic Birches. Hosts were friendly, very knowledgeable about the area. Continental breakfasts with fresh fruit and homemade muffins were filling.

The location was great--short walk to the beach but away from the hustle and bustle at the beach. The room was clean and quaint--very nice. I stayed with my parents and enjoyed the beach cottage atmosphere. We were also able to walk to the beach within minutes and devoured homemade ice cream while watching the moon over the water. This inn is very easy to locate, is clean and extremely peaceful.

The owners were very friendly and helpful in planning our days once we got there, providing maps, directions, suggestions. Property was pretty, rooms clean and quiet even with full capacity. Will go back!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Atlantic Birches Inn for two night. We were very impressed with the accommodations. Ray and Heidi made us feel very welcome right from the start. The setting is beautiful, just 2 blacks from the beach. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We stayed in the Cottage and were fortunate to have it to ourselves so we felt like we were in our own private house. Overall we were very happy with the service and hospitality. We would definitely recommend it to anyone and if we are ever in the region again, we will certainly be staying there!

We chose the Atlantic Birches Inn because of the feel of coziness we got from looking at the photos online and we were not disappointed. Our room was very pretty and clean and the location of the B&B was ideal - we even got to renew our wedding vows on the beach!! Needless to say, we had a wonderful time during our stay...and yes, the homemade muffins are delicious :)

Clean well kept rooms. Friendly advice from owners. Please note there are no hair dryers in the rooms, so you will need to bring your own. Also breakfast is served light with tasty muffins, coffee, tea and OJ. Close walk/access to the beach without being in the trall of people.

We are sorry that we do have hair dryers in the rooms we have found that most guests do bring their own hair dryers and as for the guests that have left or forgotten their hair dryers at home we do supply them upon request. As for the light breakfast served in the Cottage house the breakfast is clearly stated (coffee, tea’s juices and fresh baked gourmet muffins) on our website and confirmation letter. There is a kitchen area for those that what to bring there own breakfast favorites.

Ray was very discrete but very available, never far away. For antique lovers..... very beautiful house.

This was a great place to stay! The inn keeper was very knowledgable about area locations, places to eat, and attractions. He was so excited to tell us about the area and food that we wanted to stay for weeks! We will def. be going back sometime soon, we really did have a blast and the rooms are wonderful

We stayed at the cottage in the Seashore room. Our room and the bathroom were clean and bright. Ray and Heidi were very helpful and nice.

Atlantic Birches is a wonderful Inn, conveniently located within walking distance to the beach, and just a short drive to Portland. Fresh, wholesome breakfast combined with friendly innkeepers and a pool! Makes this a perfect choice!

My wife and I stayed a couple of nights in the cottage this fall. Ray and Heidi made us most welcome and gave plenty of advice on what to see and where to eat. The decor in the cottage is very cosy and beautifully themed to its coastal location. Only disappointment was the breakfast, Heidi bakes the most splendid muffins but those and a cup of thermos coffee was all that was on offer, no cereal, friut or toast options. There were facilities to self cater but this was not an option we were prepared for. All considered we would stay again.

Like staying with a friend. Wouldn't hesitate to visit Ray & Heidi again. Great spot for a future getaway.

We had a lovely 3 day stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn. Ray & Heidi were wonderful hosts. The variety of muffins were delicious and we enjoyed our breakfasts on the porch.

We stayed in The Old Orchard Room which was very nice and roomy. The shower was a bit small, especially for a pregnant lady!! The Inn was very clean and the breakfast was good. The owners were very pleasant and very helpful-they recommended some great places to eat. It was not as extravagantly decorated as some Inn's can be, which we liked. We would have liked a TV in the room but there was one available in the common room. We would definitely recommend this Inn.

The innkeepers were friendly and extremely helpful. They provided good information about attractions in the area and even a gave us a free pass to one of them. The interior of the facility was lovely, however, the exterior could use some sprucing up especially the landscape maintenance. While we were not affected, I think it is important to note that at least one of the rooms did not have a bathroom in the room. It was designated for occupants of that room but was down the hall. I would not have been happy if I had been assigned that room. The only minor disappointment was the breakfast provided. It was fairly meager compared to our experience in other B&Bs.

I stayed in one of the cottage suites. It was a great choice; location, comfort, amenities, privacy. I can’t imagine a better value in B&B!

Innkeeper was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. Presented a delicious breakfast which consisted of homemade muffins, bagels, English muffins, toast, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Very much above your average continental breakfast. In ground pool was also a plus.

Very comfortable accommodations - lots of opportunity for socializing in lounges or on porches and gazebo. Heidi and Ray were very hospitable and were knowledgeable re dining and sightseeing destinations. Convenient location to Old Orchard and its attractions - as well as to Portland and the coastal towns to the south. Would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to others.
