Room nice, breakfast great, Christmas decorations were a very nice touch

The breakfast was very good. The granola is the best i have ever tasted with big chunks of apricots. Our room was extremely clean. We had the Juliet Room with a little balcony out the door. It was very romantic. The touches of home and the candy bowls throughout the establishment made me feel welcome.

Very comfortable, clean, and friendly inn. Fast internet with printer. Excellent breakfast. Having a daughter at Bates, I especially enjoyed chatting with Bates trustees at breakfast, who apparently routinely book the inn when they meet at Bates. i believe I was the only one in the inn who was not a Bates trustee. Quite an endorsement!

Exceeded expectations in every way. Immaculately clean, charming, warm and welcoming. Yummy breakfast too!

This quiet inn is a one-minute walk from the Bates College campus which my daughter and I were visiting. We stayed in the Daisy Room which had a country theme. The price of our room was comparable to the usual chains in the area, so the Ware Street Inn was a real value when you consider its location, charm and the included breakfast of waffles with real maple syrup and homemade rhubarb-raspberry-apple compote. Great coffee, too. The room and attached private bath (which looked like it had been recently renovated) were roomy and extremely clean. The bed was comfy and there was ample lighting. The downstairs common area was welcoming and comfortable, too. Jan, our host, was warm and efficient. Just one suggestion--ask Jan how to set the shower dial to get the water hot--it took me a while to find the right position for the dial. Once I did, the shower was strong and plenty hot.

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay during Bates Homecoming weekend. Jan and Mike made it feel like you were coming and going from your own home. We really enjoyed the breakfasts especially out on the screened porch. The homemade granola and Jan's tasty oatmeal pancakes were the best. Jan was even generous in providing me the recipe! My husband really enjoyed talking to Mike about cycling and learning about his eclectic and talented work history. We are looking forward to stopping by again even if we aren't visiting Bates. Thanks to Jan and Mike for a very relaxing and enjoying weekend!

Stayed here when visiting my son, who was working in the area. We stayed in Madame's Room which was very spacious, with a loveseat, chair and a desk.. The room had windows on three sides and a short hallway as you entered the room, making it a very quiet room. We were happy to find the inn provided free wifi for our IPad. The homemade breakfast was very special. the owner, Jan, is not only a wonderful host but a spectacular cook as well. Many homey touches throughout the inn's common areas, too. Looking forward to returning for another stay!

Charning in every way. So many lovely details...free internet, unlimited M & M's (yum!), pretty spaces to sit inside and out to relax.

The only thing to add to our stay would have been a few feather pillows. Jan and Mike might have them, but it was a bit too late to ask. We usually take our own pillows, but we had so much luggage to move our daughter into the dorm, we couldn't fit one more thing!

What a great weekend! Staff was so friendly, gracious and accommodating. The breakfasts are sensational; wasn't too sure when main breakfast item was described to me, but turned out to be absolutely delicious. When in this area again, we will never stay anywhere else.

We stayed here while visiting Bates College, and the B&B literally just a block away from the college, so we never had to drive anywhere. The building is gorgeous, although the inside is perhaps a little over decorated for my tastes. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and more than your run-of-the mill eggs and sausage. We had apple pancakes the first morning that were excellent, and stuffed french toast the second morning that were a bit sweet but still quite good.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Ware Street Inn and it was the most delightful away from home experience we've ever had. Jan and Mike are gracious hosts and the food is beyond wonderful - delicious and beautiful. We felt at home the minute Jan met us at the front door. The inn is meticulously clean, comfortably and yet elegantly decorated - the terrace is a great spot to relax. We cannot wait to return.

Day two of my business trip did not allow me much time unfortunately. I arrived late and left before breakfast hour but I would like to return some day and really experience the inn.

So what do you do if you wake up and have to go visit a client and your battery is dead? If you are at a hotel, you call AAA, if you are at the Ware Street Inn, the owner jumps starts your battery in a matter of minutes. I have stayed at this place numerous times while in business, WiFi is reliable, they know me, the place is just great. Lewiston is a great central location if you are visiting clients in Maine. If you don't want to drive very far to go out for dinner, just cross the street and have dinner at Bates College. It's great food. If you want to drive someplace for dinner, Lewiston has great restaurants. But, best of all, the Ware Street Inn is a quality bed and breakfast.

We were on a business trip and stumbled on this gem of a B&B quite by accident, and now we can't wait to return. The charming old-fashioned rooms and lovely hostess made us feel on vacation. The large sitting room offered literature on local cultural events, a decorative fire, and bowls of little candies (these latter actually cropped up in the foyer, the staircase, and even in the hallway upstairs!). Breakfast, complete with home-made granola, whole wheat French toast and home-made marmelade syrup was a delicious start to the day. Check out is at 11:00, but we were made welcome in the sitting room to wrap up some business before departing. Overall, the Ware Street Inn and B&B is a wonderful destination in itself!

We've stayed at Ware St several times when visiting friends and family in the Lewiston area. Can't recommend strongly enough. The rooms vary in size, but Madam's is our favorite. Jan's breakfasts are a highlight - make sure you try whatever fruit spread/syrup is available. Very comfortable, relaxed environment. We'll be back next time we're in Lewiston.

My husband and I were in Lewiston for my nephew's wedding and visit with family at the same time. We were there in late October and wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy all that the Inn had to offer (Summer would be ideal). After being out and about all day, returning to the Inn at night was truly like coming home, the peacefulness, the glow and warmth of the fireplace and then walking into our beautiful room was all that anyone could ask for. The Inn is so tastefully decorated with warm colors and interesting antiques, wonderful collectibles....etc. Breakfast were plentiful, tasty and healthy. One could spend time in the dining area, the large living room, the den or the sun room. Whether you were interested in reading, listening to music, watching TV, playing board games, working on the computer or just relaxing............this is the place. My husband and I have stayed at many B&B"s here and abroad and this exceeded them all. If you are planning a trip to Maine look into this B&B, I assure you that you will not be disappointed. This is the most delightful bed and breakfast! I feel like I'm staying with friends -- everything is outstanding from the lovely rooms to the amazing breakfast to the fabulously friendly folks! Simply Love It!!!!!

We stayed for 1 night to drop our freshman off at Bates, and could not have chosen a better place. The location was perfect--we were able to leave the car at the inn, and walk over to the college for check-in. Jan was warm & welcoming, and breakfast was wonderful. Everything was spotless, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We hope to stay here again.

We had never stayed at a B&B before but were told of this wonderful Inn by friends who live in Lewiston, ME and we were so delighted with every nook, and unique peice of art, that we have vowed never to stay in a hotel again. 2 nights were not enough and we will be sure to return as this fabulous place and especially the Inn Keepers; our stay was a mini vacation and retreat!!!

I recently stayed there upon two different occassions, the first for three nights and the second for two and found everything to be delightful upon both occassions. The host and staff were outstanding and available for every need, including pre-printed maps to nearly every location you might desire to travel. I purchased the Cookbook from the Ware Street Inn as well and our family prepared the Oatmeal Pancakes from the recipe for the mix and they were fabulous. It was indeed a very pleasant experience.

This is an adorable B & B. Very clean, friendly and comfortable. Wonderful enclosed porch and outdoor area. Candy every where! Everything one would need to make their stay comfortable. Very professionally run, yet laid back. I would definitely recommend this place!

I sleep better at home. I don't sleep well in a hotel room at all. But WSI changed that with the welcome, charm, simplicity and environment for comfort.

The Ware Street Inn was perfect in nearly every way. My daughter is a junior at Bates and I am sorry that I just learned about the inn this year. Jan Barrett is a terrific hostess and an awesome cook. The inn is cozy, quiet and has all the amentities neccessary to get a little work in while enjoying one's stay.

My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night in Scarlett's room. The place was amazing, breakfast was delicious (Jan made us heart-shaped pancakes). The whole place felt really homey - Mike even ran the snow blower around our car so we wouldn't have to walk through it to get in. The only problem was that it was a bit cold - apparently they keep the heat low in the winter and put space heaters in the rooms. But we will definitely be going back!

The most up to date, clean B&B with unlimited amenities and a warm delicious breakfast I have ever stayed in.

This was such a pleasant surprise, staying at the Ware Street Inn. Everything was done to perfection, from the cooking to the decor. Even so, it is totally relaxing and not "stuffy" at all. Jan and staff go the extra mile!

We recently rented two rooms for a Saturday night stay. The inn was lovely and very well run. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful and the rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was excellent.

We needed a place to stay near Bates when picking up our daughter at a summer dance camp. The choice was a chain hotel or the Ware St Inn. Are we glad we chose the latter! It is a beautiful old house directly adjacent to the Bates campus. The grounds and gardens are delightful and the house itself is beautiful -- one of those places you drive by and wonder what it's like inside. We immediately felt at home. Our room (Daisy's Room) was bright, spacious and airy. The breakfast was sublime. Fellow guests were cultured and engaging. Every detail was taken care of. Not a word of complaint. In fact, it was almost worth the trip. Don't hesitate: if you're headed to Lewiston-Auburn, this is the place to be!

Felt like staying in the comfortable home of a friend. Excellent bed (I slept great), spacious room, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of "public" spaces to relax in including full use of computer and printer (plus wifi for my iPhone), really nice folks with a mellow attitude, and outstanding oatmeal apple pancakes with warm apple syrup. Really good coffee, too. I couldn't ask for more. Right across the street from Bates College.

This was our second visit to the Ware Street Inn for the purpose of going to the festival Moxie Days in Lisbon Falls. The Inn is just perfect...great rooms, all the amenities and lovely views, and a wonderful place to sit outside or inside and enjoy the grounds. Breakfast was a treat of apple pancakes on Sunday. Bates College across the road is a perfect place for a stroll. The host and hostess are totally friendly and offer directions to whereever. This is what you hope for but rarely find at B&B's! It's only a short drive to Lisbon Falls and all the Moxie fun.

My first time at the Ware Street Inn was excellent. The rooms are full of interest, the gardens beautiful, and Jan's breakfasts worth coming back for seconds if you just had room. Even the towels are displayed creatively. A real jewel in Lewiston.

From TX we visited a number of B&Bs in NH, ME, and VT and the Ware Street Inn was one of the best if not the best in our 2 weeks of travel.

I visited the Ware Street Inn while in Lewiston for business. The wireless internet worked but did not accept my VPN (SecurID) login. The breakfast was wonderful and the innkeepers pretty much leave you alone. The pancake breakfast was outstanding. The only problem is coffee was not available early enough for me but a quick ride to the local Dunkin Donuts resolved that. Only a few minutes away. My room was upgraded at no additional cost. The bed was very comfy and so was the room. Clean, neat just great. Would stay there again.

Happy to have our techie check on the VPN situation--was unaware of that issue. Also happy to put a fresh carafe of coffee out late at night so that it'll be hot and available early in the a.m.--always offer to do that when we're aware of the desire. Just ask...we're pretty accommodating. We enjoyed her visit!

It is a charming B&B, filled with antiques. Each room decorated differently. Interesting books supplied, soft towels, etc. Delicious breakfast, everything you would want to eat. Special owner, interesting historical artifacts.

After staying in many hotels in our quest for the perfect college for our son this was like going home again.

Very pleasant and attractive inn. I have special dietary requirements and Jan went to great lengths to fix me an excellent breakfast.

An enjoyable local on and stay at a B&B near my daughter's college. I wish it had more rooms so it was available more often. Try it out. Breakfast was great!
