Greenville Inn

Moosehead Lake's most historic inn was built by a lumber baron in 1885. Situated on five acres just one block from the lake and town, the inn offers luxury & family suites, private cottages & historic inn rooms with magnificent views.
The rare hand-tooled, quarter-sawn oak found throughout the inn gives the guests the feeling they are living like a lumber baron. The original leaded glass tiffany style light fixtures (some half gas & electric!) make this grand mansion glow with days gone by.
The Greenville Inn has magnificent views and sunsets which guests enjoy year round.
The lumber baron, William Shaw, built this Master Suite for the ultimate in privacy and luxury. A private sitting room with fireplace, flat screen TV/DVD; an en-suite bathroom with marble shower & over-sized soaking tub, foyer, and spacious bedroom with pillow-topped king bed--all with spectacular views--provide a "masterful" experience!
Come see the area's magnificent moose...they outnumber humans 3 to 1!
Newly decorated Cottage 4 features a pillow-topped KING bed, AC, TV, refrigerator, coffee maker, amazing views and outdoor seating.
Newly decorated Room 25 provides a private hideaway with a pillow-topped KING bed, fireplace, flat screen TV/DVD, air conditioning, full en-suite bath and comfortable sitting area.
Historic lumber baron's mansion at dusk during a snowstorm...a year-round destination!
Relaxation is just some bubbles away in our two person whirlpool tub!
The Greenville Inn has a Tower Suite that is truly luxurious. This romantic suite is privately located in its own building. King bed, gas fireplace, two person whirlpool tub, large tiled shower, towel warmer, heat lamp, A/C, two sitting rooms, flat screened TV/DVD, fluffy robes, private verandah and parking area.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at The Greenville Inn. We stayed in Cottage #5. It was a beautifully decorated, quaint and comfortable space overlooking the mountains, at a surprisingly affordable price. The Inn is stunning with the original mahogany paneling and stainglass windows. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. This is definitely a do-over!

June 18, 2012
My wife and I stayed in cottage #4 and had a wonderful stay. We are picky, but must say we were thoroughly impressed. The inn and the cottages are immaculate. The inn itself retains most, if not all, of it's original Victorian features. The dining room is very nice and has a warm, cozy feel. The inn was not yet open for dinner during our stay which was a pity since the options in Greenville are limited and average at best. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The inn is located within easy walking distance of "downtown" Greenville. and getting around the Moosehead Lake area was easy given the excellent location. The owners, Terry and Jeff were friendly and knowledgeable. We highly Recommend considering the Greenville Inn if you are lucky enough to find yourselves in this beautiful part of Maine. Mike and Donna C.
5 out of 5Our Family Getaway
July 23, 2011
The Greenville Inne is a site to behold - an elegant structure at the top of the hill on Norris Street - overlooking beautiful landscapes and purple mountains. The grounds are an artful mixture of nature left to the wild and manicured elegance with cozy nooks for reading and playing games with the family. The common rooms have a spa getaway feel with deep leather couches, quiet restful background music and a variety of detailed decorations for the eye to wander. The owners quickly become friends and guides who you hope to run into for an interesting chat. They were patient and accomodating with our family of five - loveley to the children as well as the adults. The main dining room is a relaxed yet upscale place to enjoy a sunny breakfast or a quiet dinner while watching the sun set over the mountains. It was wonderful to enjoy a day in the wild - climbing mountains in the rain, paddling large ponds looking for moose, swimming at the top of waterfalls and hiking challenging trains - and then returning to civilized quiet oasis with all the comforts of home plus more to relax, read, sleep, play games or watch movies with the kids. We are already checking our schedule for our next visit to The Greenville Inne.

June 06, 2011
Everything from the building and rooms to the views to the wonderful hosts to the delicious meals were reminiscent of the great inns of the northeast mountains many years ago. It was great to renew an old friendship with Jeff and to make a new friend of Terry. The icing on the cake was the enjoyable canoe trip to see moose on a "Moose safari".

4.6 out of 5Elegance in the wilderness
March 06, 2011
The Greenville area is a hotbed of outdoor activities in summer and winter, but most accomodations are rustic. The Greenville Inn is an oasis of civility and elegance in the wilderness. The building is gorgeous! We spent a lot of time just ogling the magnificent woodwork and other original details. Our room was very comfortable and Jeff could not have been more accomodating. Highly recommended!

3.6 out of 5Review of Tower Room
October 10, 2010
The room was pretty much as pictured at the web site and was clearly decorated with a great deal of attention to detail. The pictures did not convey the fantastic sense of privacy (it's basically a separate guesthouse). The owner, Jeff, was very responsive to a couple of minor issues (fuse blew on the jacuzzi, toiled clogged).
