Our stay was wonderful. Bev and Chuck are wonderful hosts. Completely accomodating even the smallest request. Spent first 2 nights in Daisy room, absolutely perfect. Spent third night in Azalea room, since the previous room had been booked prior to our booking. Although smaller, it was still very comfortable even with a 6'2" teenager! Breakfasts were awesomw and filling! Perfect location. Right in town but enough off Main St. to be quite and quaint. Recommend this B&B completely. Hope to be able to return next year! Thanks Bev & Chuck for a great stay!

My greyhound and I stayed here in April and we were whole-heartedly welcomed by Bev. The daily breakfasts were delicious, she gave us tips of where to go and what stores welcomed pets. The entire house was very clean and it's close to the village of Freeport, just a short walk. I would definitely stay here again!

The Evergreen room was very comfortable and clean, and breakfast was a gourmet feast! Bev couldn't have been more accommodating, since we just popped in unannounced. We would highly recommend the Captain Briggs House.

Even before we arrived we felt very welcomed by Bev via our phone conversation. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted. The entire place was spotless (as we gave ourselves a little tour)! Cozy, country feel (a home away from home). Bev catered to our every request and was very helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do. Winter getaway rate was a steal! Would definitely go back! (And, actually, we are, because we loved it so much!)

4.0 out of 5Second Stay
February 16, 2009
My husband and I stayed at this B&B for the second time in January of 2009. We were very pleased with our first stay so we were eager to return. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is great also. We were even upgraded to a larger room than we had reserved at no extra cost to us because the inn was not full. We would certainly stay at this inn again if we travel to Freeport.
1.8 out of 5Not Good
November 11, 2008
We stayed for three nights. The day before our last night, we explained that we were leaving early the next morning. From the Captain Briggs website , it states "Upon request you can be served an earlier breakfast". In addition, the coorespondence in our bedroom also stated this fact, in fact it stated that muffins would be provided IF you decidied to leave early. The hostess also stated that she would at least have coffee ready for us IF we left early. Breakfast was normally at 8AM. The afternoon before we left, we told the host and hostess that we would be leaving at 6AM, The response: "I'm not getting up at 6AM to make breakfast". In addition, the innkeeper would NOT even prepare coffee.. We did indeed leave at 6AM, and of course, no coffee, no muffins, nothing. NOT even an apology. In fact, a statement was made by the innkeeper, "That's why we have Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts" when we told them that we were leaving at 6AM. This was a total disappointment. I believe when you are in business , and your guests paid their bill in full, that you would at least meet your end of the bargin, that is, providing breakfast for each day that you stayed. Although the B&B was clean and well kept, the innkeepers were NOT cordial. I would NOT stay at this B&B again.
Innkeeper Response
First of all I'd like to apologize for not getting back to you sooner, but I just found this review the other day. Secondly, I whole heartedly would like to apologize to you for not offering muffins or coffee on your departure. This IS something that I normally would do, but somehow I missed it with you. All I can say, because of personaly circumstances that I won't go into here, October & November were VERY stressful months for me, and I was understandibly not focussed on the business at hand. I pray that you will visit again, and if you do so and identify yourself as having written this review, I will give you a free night.
