Topside Inn

  • Inn Details

Topside Inn Bed & Breakfast - a 19th-century sea captain's home in the center of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Overlooking the scenic harbor and surrounding islands from the highest point on McKown Hill, the panoramic view out to sea is one of the best in Maine. The front lawn provides a grandstand seat to observe harbor activity during the day and the lights of the sky at night. Topside Inn’s 21 guestrooms include seven in the picturesque main house, and fourteen located in two quaint summer guesthouses. All rooms have private in-suite baths, and a full breakfast is included. The activities of our waterfront coastal village are just one block away.

I discovered TOPSIDE INN B&B on the internet and reserved our October weekend stay in late May. Friday and Saturday rates were $195/nightly; Sunday rate was $175 excluding taxes. TOPSIDE INN B&B is at the perfect location at the top of the hill for a great view of the harbor and a quick walk to downtown Boothbay Harbor to shops and restaurants! This is a great place to stay if you have doubts about the B&B experience where you stay in the house. Here you can select from the many rooms in the large main house or in the adjacent "bunkhouse" buildings. We stayed in Room 8 in the "bunkhouse" which is on the lower level, excluded from all the other rooms. We had an enormous deck right outside our room that was very private and exclusively for our use. Room 8 was an extremely clean room with daily maid service, something you rarely find in B&B. A very spacious room with an even more spacious bathroom with double sinks! Very nicely decorated with wicker chairs and a table for 2! A small frig and microwave is also in this room. A hot breakfast was served in the main house each morning between 8am-930am. We loved the blueberry lemon pancakes with turkey sausage! The main house is cozy and comfortable with a fireplace lounge stocked with loads of games, magazines and books to enjoy! Also available for guests are afternoon snacks of cookies and/or crackers. Wine glasses are available for those who BYOW. Loved the Adirondack chairs in the yard - sooooo relaxing!

    Simply the Best!

A delightful place. Beautiful setting, great room, superb breakfasts with the most delicious homemade granola, need we say more. Brian and Ed are so welcoming, attentive and organised, making for a really restful stay. One of the nicest B&B's we have stayed in anywhere. You would have to go a long way to match the Topside Inn.

Great setting overlooking the harbor, can watch the sunset, rock on the front porch chairs, and it is an easy stroll into town. First floor room in the main house was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful and the homemade granola with yogurt was excellent. The Inn is sparkling clean, relaxing and delightful. Brian is cordial with helpful suggestions for dining in town and a superb host. Stayed 2 nights in the fall. That's our top choice for Boothbay Harbor, and Boothbay area is a great place to visit. Highly recommended!

Clean, quiet, beautifully decorated rooms with wonderful beds and great pillows. Breakfast is a culinary delight and no one misses it. Owners are personable, attentive and never in a hurry. The view of the harbor is magnificent and you are just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
