This lovely Bed & Breakfast is a circa 1820 Federal-style home overlooking the Kennebec River in historic Bath, the "City of Ships", and just a few blocks from the heart of town. A classic New England house, it features an elegant double staircase, wide pine floors and fireplaces. There are two distinctive rooms, all having private baths. The Elizabeth Room, named after a previous owner, is decorated in a Victorian style and has a queen-size bed and spacious bathroom. The Tall Chimney Room, unusual with its exposed brick chimney, reflects a feeling of comfort and warmth. It has a queen-size bed, high ceiling, a 2-person Jacuzzi in its large bathroom and balcony to the outside. A convenient stopping-off point for visitors traveling on Route 1 or I-295, it's also located near historic Wiscasset, Popham Beach, Reid State Park, Brunswick Naval Air Station, Bowdoin College and the Boothbay area.
The Elizabeth Room has a more Victorian feel with its floral window treatments and rose-colored trim. Perfect for sleeping in, its queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress, is almost a guarantee for a good night's sleep. This room has a large ensuite bathroom. Evening turndown service is included. Check in time is 3:00 pm and Check out time is 11:00 am.
Nightly Rate: $130 - $135

Pryor House is beautiful. We stayed in the tall chimney room which has an amazing bathroom with a big 2 person Jacuzzi. Unfortunately, the mattress was the softest I have ever felt. I just went to the website to see if other rooms have firm mattresses but they state the tall chimney room has "the firmest mattress in the house." The innkeeper, Gwenda, was delightful and very accommodating. She made a delicious breakfast (although I think my husband would have liked 2x the amount). She also made some nice cookie bars after dinner. We love the town of Bath as well. I highly recommend Pryor House unless you need a firm mattress!
This mattress is a different mattress than the one previously stated on the website and is no longer the firmest bed onsite, which will soon be updated on our website. Sounds like our guests may have been better suited on one of our other beds. Thank-you for the nice breakfast review.......glad husband could have eaten even more.

Loved the Tall Chimney room. Bigger and pretter in person than online. An outstanding value compared to the other local accomidation options. Very clean. Amazing breakfasts no matter how man guests are staying in the house. Planning a return visit!

A historical Inn with an antiquated private ambiance. Breakfast food elegantly presented and highly pleasing.

The jacuzzi room was wonderful, breakfast was great, quiet atmosphere, awesome city! Try the restaurant solo bistro. Really friendly inn keeper. It was our first visit to a bed and breakfast and it was a wonderful experience. I love Bath already, and the Pryor house made it so much better.
