Ullikana Bed and Breakfast and a Yellow House

  • Inn Details

A secluded, romantic haven in the heart of Bar Harbor.Breakfast is served ...overlooking the water. Bar Harbor's first summer cottager, Alpheus Hardy, built and named the Ullikana in 1885. The Historic building and its sister inn, A Yellow House built in 1872, are two of the few early cottages still remaining in Bar Harbor. Although only a minute from the center of town, our quiet location offers a haven of hospitality. Start your day with a sumptuous homemade breakfast. Relax in the afternoon with refreshments on the terrace, overlooking Frenchman Bay. We are proud to be a member of Select Registry, and rated top pick by Fodors, An Exporers Guide to Maine, and Moon Handbooks.

Nestling behind the busy main street of Bar Harbour we found the Inns of Ullikana to be a haven of peace and tranquility. The location, service and food were of the highest quality and I wouldn't hestitate to recommend this little piece of heaven.

Ullikana - Even the locals don't know this Bar Harbor gem

The Ullikana and Yellow House are right in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. Since the inn is tucked away just off Main Street, it's peaceful, and many of the locals don't even realize it's there. The rooms are comfortable and distinct, and the personal service is unparalleled. Take a few minutes after the gourmet breakfast (on the patio with a view of Frenchman Bay) and ask for directions, help with activities, or dining suggestions. The owners and staff are so helpful, and the stay will last with you a lifetime. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bar Harbor.

Great Location for Acadia & Bar Harbor

We are visiting at least one national park each year. The Ullikana is a great base for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor's downtown. The Inn is a bit hard to find, especially in the dark. Hint: It is located behind a bank drive-through. The breakfasts were superb with our own table for two (the first morning) and friendly & interesting folks in the indoor dining room (the second morning).

    NOT! very good.

Their private road to the parking lot was full of large potholes. Bathroom sink was too small and low to use. Room temperature controls did not function properly. Winds rattled the windows producing load noises at night. We made reservation through BnB Finder and tried to use BnB Finder gift certificate but they would not accept it saying they don't participate. Location was excellent and breakfast was adequate.

We enjoyed the stay primarily due to the location and the great condition of this wonderful old summer home converted to a B & B. Ullikana is very well located within a short walking distance from the town shopping and eating district. We felt very safe and comfortable.
