Great place to stay in Bar Harbor. Beautiful Inn, very cozy and inviting. Loved the room and the comfortable bed. The perfect location, in town yet quiet and in a beautiful location by the harbor. Wonderful breakfast and a great place to be.

Although a little hard to find at first, the Ullikana is located in the heart of Bar Harbor; steps from the Marina and center of town. We were immediately impressed by the appearance of the house and delighted that the interior was even prettier. Art plays an important role in Ullikana with sculptures in the gardens and various artists competing for your eye's attention as you enter. An impressive staircase with stained glass windows serves as a beautiful portal to the guest rooms above. A very comfortable bed delays your intended departure, but not by much, as you know a delicious al fresco breakfast awaits you out back. We never left the table wanting for more. In the late afternoon, wine and snacks awaited you outside where you could take off hunger's edge and reflect, privately or with other guests, on the day's truly spectacular events. Helene and Roy are the consummate hosts, providing warmth, and guidance for a great meal or another fun event. I also have to give out a shout to Syd, who works the evening and greeted us on our arrival. We were made to feel as special, welcomed guests in their remarkable home. I'd go back!
Thank you so much. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay

Our stay at the Ullikana was lovely. The Inn was gorgeous, the breakfasts were phenomenal. The one disappointment we had was that our mattress was uncomfortable, though otherwise we liked our room well enough (room 4). The location can't be beat, right on the water just a step from the "downtown" area. We would stay here again.
4.8 on July 13, 2014
The home is gorgeous as are the grounds and location. We had a 1 block walk to town, the harbor and the shorefront walking trail. Breakfast on the patio was superb. We ate like kings! And happy hour wine and cheese was a lovely, gracious touch. But all else pales to the incredible hospitality that Roy, Helene, Sid and staff provide. Feel like we made old friends! Roy is especially knowledgable and helpful in his sightseeing guidance. Treasured memories.

Our 2-night stay at the Ullikana was nothing short of spectacular. The location can't be beat. It's a short walk to Main St and all the little shops and restaurants there, but the house is tucked away so you don't get any of the noise or traffic. Our room, Room 7, had a darling little porch over looking the water and we spent lots of time out there enjoying the lovely cool breezes. The room was also equipped with its own AC unit, which made for some comfortable sleeping at night. The house itself is a fantastic mix of quaint, old-fashioned charm and quirky art. There is something interesting to look at everywhere you turn! Roy and Helene are just the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet and they really make you feel like family, not just guests. Helene is an incredible chef, and breakfast each morning was extraordinary. She could turn something simple like scrambled eggs into a gourmet treat! My advice: eat as many of Helene's muffins as you possibly can because they are out of this world (especially the cinnamon raisin ones with orange glaze!) Nothing could have improved our stay, except more time! The Ullikana is the only place we will ever stay in Bar Harbor because of its location, amenities, breakfast, and Roy and Helene! Thank you for a wonderful visit!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Many thanks for the kind words

We just spent four nights at the Inn at Ullikana in Bar Harbor, Maine. This is one of the most beautiful B&Bs where we've ever stayed.
5 on July 05, 2014
A big beautiful home, with attractive spacious rooms (we stayed upstairs). We enjoyed the fire place. Also had a veranda, but did not use that much due to the cool weather (we were there in early June). More than the attractive surroundings, however, was the personal hospitality provided by Roy and Helane. Always willing to answer any question and address any issue (the guest laptop did not always work properly) promptly and courteously. Roy loves to give suggestions for visits to Acadia Park and other places of interest. Well worth the price!
5 on June 28, 2014
Everyone gets a warm welcome when they arrive as well as return. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts are to die for and Helene is always willing to share her great recipes. The hotel is so beautifully decorated with unusual works of art. Every time I come I notice different art pieces. The rooms are comfortable and each is uniquely decorated.

Roy, Helene and their warm and talented staff truly made us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious, our room (#2) was lovely and let in lots of great light with its four windows, and Roy and Helene recommended amazing hikes, interesting excursions, and wonderful places to eat. The house itself is beautiful, and filled with fabulous artwork. The location was fantastic - the back faces the water and is just a block from downtown Bar Harbor. We will definitely be going back!
Thanks for your kind words

Looking forward to seeing again

We were welcomed to the Inn by the scent of lilacs, bordering the pathway from the parking lot to the main entrance. Immediately, we were impressed by the large works of art on display in the common areas. The Inn has an outdoor breakfast area, which is very special, though the breakfast room used in less accommodating weather, is also comfortable and pretty. Breakfast was excellent. Location very convenient for touring the town and for cruising. We stayed in the Library room, which has the advantage of easy access on the ground floor, with its own French doors to the outside. However, in inclement weather, the wine and cheese is held in the parlour adjacent to the Library room, which seemed a bit intrusive/ awkward. Night stand tables are super small, with no room for books, just a cup of tea. The bathroom could do with some more shelving to accommodate cosmetics, etc., and there was no desk for laptop use, except in the adjacent parlour. Very personable staff and management, charming and helpful without being intrusive. We appreciated their help with the dinner reservations.
Thank you so much for your review. We are taking note of your comments and suggestions.

Ullikana is a gem in Bar Harbor...not to be missed! Roy, Helene, "Louie", Cyd, and all of the staff were so wonderful and truly made us feel like guests in their home. What a pleasure! Ullikana is a gorgeous historic home and filled with works of art and yet it still feels like your home. Very comforting and what a treasure. Helene's breakfasts are absolutely the finest anywhere..they begin with fresh juice and hot, out of the oven fresh muffins that are heavenly. Then a fresh, delicious fruit course presented beautifully and finally a sumptuous finale...be it omelets or an crepe with apples. Yum! Roy's passion is Acadia and it shows! His expertise of the park help to make the most of your Acadia experience! He is fabulous. Ullikana is not to be missed! Anyone would be thrilled to stay here..we stayed five nights and look forward to returning.
So happy you enjoyed your stay

My soon to be sister-in-law vacationed last weekend at the Ullikana for a girls' weekend while the men in our lives traveled to Las Vegas. We all agree that the girls chose the better location. I have been staying at the Inn since 2006, and this was the first trip for my travel companion. Within minutes of meeting Roy, Helene, and their incredible staff, she was ready to make reservations to return the following year. It is hard to believe that the Inn could be any more pretty or special, but Roy and Helene continue to renovate and update the Inn truly making it, in my opinion, one of the most special places in this world.

A unique experience, a "quiet inn" (no phones or TV's in the rooms) located in the heart of Bar Harbor. Wonderful innkeepers who love taking care of their guests and can assist with planning activities at any level and know the best places to eat
So happy you enjoyed your stay!

We had a wonderful fall visit to Bar Harbor, made more wonderful by the incredible Inn at Ullikana. Roy and Helene and their staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. The food was wonderful and they were quite accommodating in meeting special dietary needs. We would definitely stay here again if we are in Bar Harbor.
4.4 on October 30, 2013
Inn was eclectic and charming. Great view on Frenchmans bay from our room. Wine and cheese at 5:30 was nice. The only downside was if your not one of the early birds to get in the shower in the morning, you will have to wait for hot water and some of the other room had their bathrooms across the hall from their rooms. Otherwise it was absolutely fantastic. Close to town as well.
5 on October 30, 2013
Our innkeepers were very friendly, very knowledgeable and anxious to help us with exciting things to do in the area. Our breakfasts were unique and delicious!
5 on October 19, 2013
The rooms very clean and decorated in lovely manner, the service from all the staff and the owners was exceptional, the inn was an excellent value, with breakfast in the mornings an adventure with most excellent coffee, crepe, fruit, omelets prepared by the host that were out of this world.

The Ullikana is simply amazing. The owners and their staff are fantastic. We have stayed at other inns and b&bs but this was the best. Breakfast is gourmet and the service is nothing less than what I would expect at a four star hotel.
4.8 on October 12, 2013
The breakfasts we had were incredible. I noticed one woman asked for something a bit different than offered and they were quite willing to satisfy her. It is a beautiful place to stay close to the "happenings" of Bar Harbor, yet neatly snugged in by the water. Loved it and will return hopefully. Steve & Mary B.

Just a wonderful experience. From the room, to the wine and cheese in the late afternoon, to the amazing breakfasts...it was just a wonderful place to stay, and when we return, I doubt we will stay anywhere else. Roy is THE expert on the region, and can point you anywhere to do anything you want. We were departing just as the park closed due to the shutdown, and he was extraordinarily helpful to some of the guests looking for alternate plans in the area. The breakfast was amazing. Just delicious. I'm a picky eater, yet I found the flourishes and ingredient combinations delightful. Staying here is worth it if for that alone! The rooms were charming and comfortable, and the location can't be beat. Wonderful place to stay.

Helene & Roy are wonderful hosts. They serve the most delicious, decadent breakfasts; who would have thought to have frozen yogurt with waffles for breakfast! Roy was very helpful with ideas and places to go in the Bar Harbor area. I wish we had more time to spend there.
4.8 on September 30, 2013
Perfect location only steps away from shopping and the shore! The rooms are good sized and our bathroom (in the room) was a bit small (so much so that my husband dropped a bar of soap off the sink ledge and it landed in the toilet, Lol!). But it worked for us. Roy (owner) knows the island like the back of his hand and provides expert advice on trips and planning activities (your personal tour guide!). And his wife (Helene?), provides a three course, five star breakfast every morning! They discovered we were there for our honeymoon and, the next evening we came to our room to find chocolates, flowers, and kissing swans made out of towels (very neat)! We had a great time and will go back in a heartbeat!

Roy and Helene provide the most wonderful experience for enjoying the Bar Harbor area from the comfort of a turn of the century house located right in Bar Harbor. From the 5 PM wine and cheese to the incredible breakfast everything about this place rings one of a kind and wonderful. The decor matches the style of the inn-keepers; each room given special thought and attention making your stay really really enjoyable. We come here whenever we can!

The inn is very unique and arty. Great spot with view of sea from the hotel garden but away from the noise. There is a shortcut at the bottom of the garden to the sea front. 2 minutes walk to sea and town. We had room 5 with a detached bathroom, both were very individually decorated and lovely to stay in, plenty of room for luggage storage, bath robes were provided for the walk across the corridor. Early evening hors d'oeuvres and a lovely breakfast were served on the patio in the garden. Tea and coffee were available in a small kitchen area as well as a guest fridge. The lounge area had games for guests and a number of different seating areas. Staff were available during the day and very helpful. We would stay there again if we ever visited the area again. A definite recommendation.

Helene and Roy do a superb job with their Inn at Ullikana. The location is 1 block off main street shops and restaurants of Bar Harbor and out the back 1 block with an unobstructed view of Frenchman's Bay. The B&B is decorated very tastefully and comfortably. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Helene is a fabulous chef and our breakfasts were more like a Sunday brunch with 3 courses. The first course is a homemade muffin served with fresh squeezed OJ mixed with cranberry juice, coffee and hot tea. Our second course was a delicious fruit - we had mixed wild Maine blueberries and strawberries with a Grand Marnier Sauce one morning and a baked apple stuffed with cranberries and a delicious sauce with cinnamon. The last course - one day was hot apple stuffed crepes served with frozen vanilla yogurt, and the next was a herb and feta cheese omelet served with a small salad! We literally ended up only eating 1 other meal around 4pm after those fabulous breakfasts! On a side note - I was treating my mom to a New England trip for her 83rd Birthday, and somewhere one of the days we were in BH she lost a 14K gold bracelet. She was upset and I tried my best to look everywhere in our room and the grounds of the Inn. Roy called me 1 week after our stay to tell me that the people that stayed in our room after us had turned in Mom's bracelet and he sent it to me!! So they definitely attract very honest and nice people and they are soo very accommodating as well!!

My wife and I celebrated her birthday at the Inn at Ullikana this past weekend. What an amazing place. Helene and Roy have thought of every little detail you'd expect to keep their guests happy. The breakfast was to die for and Roy gave us such great ideas on how to spend our time in town. Their house dog Louis was also wonderful company. We can't wait to return!

My girlfriend and I spent the weekend at the Ullikana using it as our base camp for hiking, kayaking, and exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor. We are early risers and they were able to accommodate our breakfast schedule with their breakfast schedule. The Ullikana breakfasts were delicious. It reminded me of the period when I had lived in France. There rooms were very clean and decorated so nice. A bit quirky, some what Victorian but very nice

What a beautiful old house to stay in. Everyone was very helpful and the service was great. The breakfast wasn't to our liking but we just don't like cheese first thing in the morning and the Feta cheese and spinach omelette was the only thing available.

This was the best vacation we have ever taken together, and our stay at Ullikana was a huge part of that. The friendliness and hospitality that Roy and Helene showed us is unparalleled. The inn is gorgeous and, even though it's in the middle of town, you feel like you're in your own secluded part of the island. We were so sad to leave and cannot wait to return!

This little oasis was just what my husband and I needed! Sid was most wonderful in greeting us and extending hospitality of the Inn, Roy was quite engaging with suggestions of things to do and the breakfast by Helene & Sid were outstanding! Who would expect a little wine and cheese/appetizers as our extra bonus each evening? Can't wait to go back when the crowds of summer disappear, so we can explore the trails of Acadia or walk around town and fill our camera lens with so many more beautiful pictures!
5 on August 18, 2013
We just returned from a three night stay. We were in Room 5 for one night and Room 6 for two. Both rooms are great and have a wonderful view of the water with your own private porch. Roy and Helene were amazing hosts, as was Cyd. Helene turns out amazing breakfasts from Maple Muffins to peaches with a honey lemon sauce to an omelet, everything was great. We had the pleasure of being served by Jack, Roy and Helene's grandson who is truly a special young man. If you want to hike in Acadia, be sure to talk to Roy who will give you advice about the trails based on what you want to do. He sent us to the Jordan Cliff trail which was perfect for us. He has a wealth of knowledge and is so willing to share. Wish the inn was not 8 hours away or we would return right away. We will have to wait until next summer.

Heartily recommend this B&B as a great place to stay in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. Combined historic charm with wonderful service, great breakfasts (everyday a nice surprise) and absolute cleanliness. It is a quiet haven in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, but within easy walking distance of the harbor and all the restaurants and other entertainment. The owners and staff also provided great advice about things to do in the park and outside. Will definitely go back if/when we return to Bar Harbor. Some of the other guests we met return regularly.
5 on August 07, 2013
We have been staying at the Ullikana for the past 18 years and would not stay anywhere else in Bar Harbor. Roy and Helene are delightful. The breakfasts are amazing. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff is wonderful. Roy and Helene are like family to us. We call the Ullikana our "second home".
5 on August 06, 2013
We could not imagine a nicer place to stay and enjoy the beauty of Acadia National Park. Our room at the Ullikana, nestled across from the beach and harbor in Bar Harbor Maine, was filled with colorful fabrics and lovely antiques. We had a terrace overlooking the harbor and our queen size bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever had. The Inn itself is furnished with an eclectic collection of art that reflects the discerning eye and warm hearts of the hosts, Roy and Helene.. As beautiful as the park is, the breakfasts, made by Helene and served by Roy and his friendly assistants in the Inn's charming garden, were a highlight of our stay. In the afternoon, after a satisfying day of biking or hiking or simply exploring the park or the town, one returns to the Inn for wine, tea and cheese in the garden, filled with beautiful flowers, colorful china and a lovely view. In addition, all guests can take advantage of Roy's expertise and knowledge of the park. You couldn't ask for a better guide/conierge. He is only too happy to suggest where you might find just the right hike or ride in the park, or activity or restaurant in town. Staying at the Ullikana provides you with everything you will need to maximize your enjoyment of the area.

My husband and I have been guests of Roy and Helene in their wonderful B&B several times and can't say enough about their unique hospitality. We have stayed in B&B's around the world and the Ullikana is our number one favorite!! Roy and Helene are warm, friendly, helpful, and never make us feel like we are a "bother". They interact with their guests and have a quality that is hard to find elsewhere. Plus, Helene's breakfasts are second to none! The Ullikana is an oasis of tranquility while at the same time being in the heart of Bar Harbor. We hope to be back there many times!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in room 4 (one of the more inexpensive rooms at the Inn) and we couldn't have been more in love with it. The private bathroom was detached from the room but you still felt like it was extremely private and your own. The Inn is nestled in the perfect part of Bar Harbor, within walking distance to all of the restaurants and shops, but hidden enough away where you have 100% peace and quiet. The second most wonderful part of the whole experience was the breakfast. It was some of the best prepared food I'd had in a long time. But most important was the friendliness of the owners and staff. We were blown away with the accommodating and sincere way with which we were treated. We can not wait to return someday, hopefully soon!

The Ullikana is a wonderful inn with great hosts, a super location and gourmet breakfasts everday on the patio overlooking the bay. Roy always knows the best hikes and restaurants to recomend and Helene's flair for decorating and knowledge of the local artist community have made the Inn at Ullikana the best place to stay when visiting Bar Harbor.

A great location, just yards from the beach and Shore Path walk. Only about 15 minutes from the main entrance to Acadia National Park. All the comforts of home and great breakfasts. Also very useful was the local knowledge available from the staff that gave us good ideas what best to do in the limited time we had available

My husband and I look forward to going to Ullikana every summer. It is the only place that we stay on Mount Desert Island. Owners Roy and Helene are the epitome of gracious hosts as are Syd and Kathy. The owners pay explicit attention to detail in everything about the house and one's stay. The breakfasts are gourmet. The house is gorgeous and the rooms are comfortable. Excellent restaurants are within walking distance as is a walk along the ocean and Bar Harbor piers. Get ready for a luxury vacation!

Instead of blaring sounds of TV, we were greeted each morning by an eclectic range of delightful music. It was a very enjoyable experience, and if we return to Bar Harbor we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Ullikana is a notch above the rest. This B&B is well appointed with interesting landscape, art work, & furnishings. Hosts Helene & Roy and the entire staff and "Louie" the Black Lab were gracious hosts and made us feel like family. Gem of a place. Beautiful and well kept, just enough off the main road and a lovely view of the harbor while we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio. The owners are wonderful. They really take the time to ensure your stay is comfortable and they gave excellent recommendations for hikes in Acadia and restaurants. They even made us a dinner reservation and left a note on our door to confirm. We would definitely return!

We finally had the opportunity to book an evening at the Ullikana in Bar Harbor after several years of curiosity and passing by on our vacation walks in this lovely part of Maine. We were overwhelmed with the warmth and hospitality of our hosts, thrilled with our room (Henry's room treated us to a lovely, serene sunrise with its skylight) and left with full bellies after a great crepe breakfast. We can't wait to book another evening at Ullikana the next chance we get, hopefully in August... Don't forget to pet Louis when you're enjoying breakfast with other guests on the lawn! Wouly highly recommend a stay.

This was our first trip to Bar Harbor, and for our 15th anniversary. I wanted to find a nice place to stay that would be enjoyable in itself for such a special event, and the Inn at Ullikana truly fit the bill. Roy and Helene were wonderful hosts, the food was delicious every morning and evening, and the location is perfect. Secluded and quiet, yet less than a minute to Main Street. I cannot recommend the Inn at Ullikana enough, and we'll definitely be coming back.

Ullikana is a charming bed and breakfast that has an air of privacy while still being in the midst of everything. One can talk about the old world look of the inn, the waterviews, the location, the excellent breakfasts, but what sets the place apart is the hospitality extended by Helene and Roy. We had a wonderful stay - the Inn is superb, with lovely views of the harbor. Roy and Helene are caring, thoughtful and extremely knowledgable hosts. The Inn is very central but still in a quiet location.

This was our 3rd time back at Ullikana. Each year we have added a night (seven this time). Bar Harbor is a glorious place to just enjoy life. The inn is the added attraction. The breakfasts are to die for. Roy, Helene and the staff are warm and wonderful people. The ambiance (music, setting overlooking the water, wine and cheese at 5:30, and the fireplace at night) adds to the perfection.

The alfresco breakfasts were truly delightful and leisurely. The beautifully appointed rooms were so comfortable and quiet. My friends and I are eager for the chance to return. We consider this Inn to be an ideal location and great value. .

I have visited Bar Harbor many times and admired the Inn at Ullikana, but never been able to make a reservation until this spring. I recommend it highly. The rooms are lovely (but vary considerably in size, with the smallest rather claustrophobic). The hospitality is outstanding. Breakfast distinguishes Ullikana from other inns. Each one was superb! We will stay here again.

We enjoy going to Bar Harbor, ME every year and when we do we stay at the Inn at Ullikana. The inn keepers are wonderful, breakfasts amazing and the rooms are unique and immaculate.

We stayed two nights, first in room 2 and the second in room three. Room 2 was small but cozy and room 3 was amazing! The wood fireplace and large windows made the room. The service was exceptional, Roy and Helene made us feel right at home. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and a gourmet breakfast. The weather didnt quite cooperate with us, but the we had an amazing time! will definitely return!

Roy and Helene are the perfect hosts. The house is fantastic and perfectly located. Walk to the center of town in one minute - but the location is very quiet. Multiple visits - we'll do it again.

For the fifth time in twelve years, our stay at the Ullikana was perfect! The breakfasts were delicious. All of the services provided by Roy and Helene were done so cheerfully and professionally - making us feel more like friends than guests. The inn itself has no shortcomings and is the epitomy of comfort and cleanliness. Even the other guests seem to be friendlier and more interesting than at other B & B's. The Ullikana is ALWAYS our choice for celebrating our anniversary!

Beautiful house, beautiful setting, gracious hosts, amazing breakfast!! Definitely will stay here again when back in Bar Harbor. Flexible too in allowing us to adjust our itinerary and stay another night.

Staff provides warm reception and shares helpful information about Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Rooms are clean, well-maintained, and quaint. Breakfast is as beautiful visually as is delicious. Good location, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Although it was in October, my stay at Ullikana took me back to a care free time of being 12 years old and away at summer camp. Upon my arrival, a lovely hostess greeted me, along with a crackling fire and a sweet canine old-timer named Teddy. I couldn't resist dashing up to my room on those wonderful old wooden stairs. My room was comfortable and cozy, and very very, pretty. My private bathroom was located across the hall from my room, and again brought back memories of long ago. Although out of another era, the sink, tub and commode served their purposes, and were kept spotless. The innkeepers were cheerful and helpful, and so was the housekeeping staff. If you want to know where to go in Acadia for hikes, talk to Roy, one of the owners. He loves the carriage paths and knows them like the back of his hand! I hesitate to say anythng less than glowing about Ullikana, but I felt the breakfasts lacked a little in taste and substance. Other than that minor shortcoming, my stay was delightful and I would absolutley recommend Ullikana to anyone seeking nostalgic bliss!

Very nice-- in every way. Great location. Friendly staff. Great breakfasts. Absolutely beautiful inn. I highly recommend it.

We spent 2 nights at the Ullikana and it was not enough! Everything about this place was fantastic. The location could not be beat - it was right off Main St., but far enough away that it was perfect. The service was fabulous - everyone that worked there was very helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Roy was so wonderful helping us get the most out of our short stay in Bar Harbor and everything he suggested we did. We will return here for sure!

My wife and I stayed in the Library room on the 1st floor. It had french doors which opened onto the front porch making getting the luggae in and out a snap. Our hosts were gracious, The service and food was excellent. Given the chance we would love to go back.

Beuatiful setting for an inn. Loved the back patio overlooking the water. The innkeepers were extremely helpful in getting to and around Acadia National Park. Breakfast and the evening wine and cheese was excellent. The only regret is that we had to leave and come home. We would stay their again next time we make it to Bar Harbor.

Great Inn, wonderful breakfasts, good location, great recommendations for visiting the Bar Harbor area. New friends ... loved it all.

We spent two nights at Ullikana this fall. Our room was well furnished and comfortable. The house was beautifully restored. The service was excellent, the entire staff were friendly and helpful, even making sure we had an umbrella on a Rainy weekend. Breakfast was awesome. Evening wine and snacks were available, again with friendly helpful service in an area easy to mingle and visit with other guests. Great visit!

My wife and I have stayed in many B&B's and consider thid one of the best. Highlights are the breakfasts and advice about hikes to take. The view of the harbor from the back garden are great. It was very quiet for sleeping.
5 on September 25, 2012
This was my first time to Bar Harbor. My husband and I were celebrating our 15th year wedding anniversary. We absolutely loved this B&B! It was extremely close to all the shops and restaurants but tucked away in a quiet gravel road side street. Our room was spacious and beautiful antiques but with modern bathroom amenities. But what makes this B&B special are the innkeepers, Roy and Helene. Helene is a wonder chef that cooked up the most wonderful breakfasts. We looked forward every morning. Roy is an expert on Acadia National Park and the surrounding areas. He helped us every day right after breakfast to plan our day. He has a gift of getting to know his guests and recommending the perfect day. We had such a great time that we can't wait to return. We met many guests that have returned year after year, some for as long as 15. We will also be coming back year after year to the Ullikana.
4.8 on September 17, 2012
The B&B was absolutey perfect. Roy and Helene do a fabulous job of making you feel right at home. Breakfast is amazing. When it's nice, you sit in what I'll call a court yard overlooking Bar Harbor (the water, not the town). Conveniently located adjacent to downtown shopping and dining, but off the beaten path so there is no traffic around the B&B except for those staying. Roy has a deep knowledge of Acadia National Park and is thrilled to be asked for recommendations. Would we go back ... in a heart beat!
5 on September 15, 2012
This was our first visit to Ullikana B&B but it will not be our last. The Inn and its owners are delightful! It is a well-maintained property in the heart of Bar Harbor, and within easy walking distance of many fine restaurants. The breafasts are wonderful thanks to Helene's talents as a french chef. You will not be disappointed!!
5 on September 11, 2012
Innkeepers Helene and Roy are wonderful. They could not have done more to make us feel right at home. We're headed back next year - and bringing family.

Best location in town, near to the center and sea view from garden. Helpful innkeepers and clean rooms. Only thing is that in some rooms the private bath is opposite whats a bit inconvenient especially in the night.

Incredible hospitality of the owners, Roy and Helene. Amazing gourmet French-inspired breakfasts prepared by Helene every morning. Great views of Frenchman's Bay, Bar Harbor. A comfortable, quiet, relaxed place to stay.

Beautiful Inn in a wonderful quiet waterfront location in downtown Bar Harbor, very short walk to the shops and restaurant. The innkeepers were among the nicest and most responsive we have ever experienced in all the B&B's we've stayed in. I would highly recommend the Ullikana to anyone visiting Bar Harbor.

Beautiful location, outstanding staff, would definitely return to Ullikana.
5 on August 27, 2012
We stayed at Ullikana for 8 wonderful nights and were very sad to leave when the time came. The breakfasts were delicious every single morning, a nice mix of sweet and savory delights! Roy was very helpful with picking hikes to do in Acadia NP or what to do the one day that it rained while we were there. All of the staff members were super friendly and always smiling. The afternoon snacks and wine were a great way to mingle with other people staying at the Inn and a good way to share stories and suggestions of what to do at the Park or around town (and the yummy cheese, crackers and tapenade. We plan to come back to Bar Harbor and will definitely be staying at Ullikana!!!!
3.2 on August 13, 2012
Staying at a "preferred inn" property, we expected a level of plushness that sometimes missed the mark. The setting was perfect, and the innkeepers were very accommodating. However, no complimentary robes, which was a disappointment. And, the complimentary spring water bottles that greeted us were not replaced each day, and the same was true for the commentary toiletries when they were used up. For the price, we expected those to be spot-on. Breakfasts were delicious.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Ulllikana. The lodging was charming and practical. Your breakfasts were excellent but we did not get a chance to try the wine & cheese (our fault). Your advice and suggestions for touring the island and traveling thru Maine were very useful. Our only problem was making the turn off Main Street to access your propwerty! But we plan on returning, so next time, we will know how to do it.

We stayed in the Yellow House for several days and loved it. Our room was comfortable and well furnished and extremely quiet. The location is fantastic and Roy offers wonderful advice about Acadia. The food is also excellent. My wife maintains that it is the nicest place we've ever stayed and i'd have to concur.

We just returned from a week long trip to Maine. We stayed two nights in Bar Harbor at the Ullikana on a friend's recommendation. Ullikana exceeded our expectations and we felt immediately at home as soon as we entered the Inn. Our room had a lovely porch overlooking the harbor. Peaceful and restful after our long days of hiking/biking/kayaking in Acadia. A healthy, tasty breakfast is served on the outside patio with views of the harbor. Sad to leave, but all good things must come to an end. We will return!

Outstanding B & B. Roy was terrific and very helpful with planning our activities. Helene's 3 course french breakfast everyday was great but not so helpful for your waistline. Would highly recommend this property.

There is not enough I could say to explain how wonderful the stay was. Quiet but close enough to all the action of Main street. Felt right at home and then some. Cannot wait to go back!

Our room got a "3" only because it was really small, but we knew that it would be when we reserved it. We would HIGHLY recommend this B&B. Roy and Helene and their staff were wonderful! We will stay here again if we ever get back to Bar Harbor.

We had a very relaxing stay. The breakfasts were excellent. The place is beautiful and Helene and Roy were awesome hosts.
3.2 on July 24, 2012
The Ullikana Bed and Breakfast is wonderfully situated in Bar Harbor, but on a quiet street. The Innkeepers, Helene and Roy were friendly and cheerful. They had all sorts of information and brochures about Bar Harbor and dining. I was looking for an inn with a little more contact with the innkeepers, however. Helene and Roy keep the inn running really well, but I would have preferred a little more informality. Breakfast was served by servers and it seemed that the guests generally kept to themselves. So if you're looking for privacy in an inn, Ullikana is quite genteel. I would have preferred something a little more casual.

We spent two nights at the Yellow House and had a wonderful time. Our room was bigger than we expected and very nicely decorated. The attention from all the staff was great, not over the top and very helpful. We would gladly stay here again.

My wife and I had a great time on our visit. Ullikana B&B was far enough away from the hustle and bustle that we could relax. Plus, the short walk to the water made it easy to enjoy the best part of the town. The breakfast was great both days we were there. Our hosts were very friendly and courteous and made us feel welcomed. Thanks for a great visit!

Large rooms that were well kept and clean. Terrific breakfasts provided by gracious hosts.
5 on June 15, 2012
I wish there was a category above outstanding. A class act. The best bed and breakfast we stayed at during our week in Maine. The breakfast was great but they also had wine and cheese in the afternoons. This gave you a chance to meet the other guests. They also had a computer available for the use of the guests.
4.6 on June 13, 2012
We will definitely return. The accommodations met our expectations of what a B&B should be. The breakfast was fabulous! We met some of the other guests at the wine and cheese mixer, whose company we enjoyed during our stay. Our hosts were very welcoming. We stayed in the Yellow House which was quite nice. Next time, we will try to get a room in the Ullikana.

Inn keepers and Sid were the best... they made us feel welcome and at home. They were happy, warm, friendly.... that makes a big difference with me. Location is the best in bar harbor and breakfast is a gourmet treat... Loved it.... I loved playing with the wood-burning fireplace every evening... The wine and cheese afternoons were a special treat. Wonderful 3 nights!

we had a great time. The Inn is located near downtown Bar Harbor... making it easy to walk everywhere. The staff was helpful and the food was good.
5 on June 11, 2012
We have stayed at Ullikana/Yellow House for the past several summers, and have found it to have consistently excellent accommodations. Roy, Helene, and their staff are always warm and welcoming; and we always feel like we are back with friends when we stay there. Their 'General Manager', a Labrador Retriever, makes sure everything is up to snuff (sorry, pun intended). We mostly stayed at Yellow House, across the street from the Ullikana building. The Inns are at the end of a quiet street, but within an easy walk to the shops and restaurants on Main Street, the town dock, the village green, and the popular shore path. Therefore one doesn't need to drive to everything. Acadia National Park is a short drive away, with limitless activities and stunning views. Ullikana is an excellent place to stay.
5 on June 11, 2012
Staying by the river was simply amazing. Everyone working there was wonderful, engaging, and helpful. And the food, wow. My wife and I will be back to celebrate future anniversaries.

Nestling behind the busy main street of Bar Harbour we found the Inns of Ullikana to be a haven of peace and tranquility. The location, service and food were of the highest quality and I wouldn't hestitate to recommend this little piece of heaven.
4.4 on November 04, 2011
The Ullikana and Yellow House are right in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. Since the inn is tucked away just off Main Street, it's peaceful, and many of the locals don't even realize it's there. The rooms are comfortable and distinct, and the personal service is unparalleled. Take a few minutes after the gourmet breakfast (on the patio with a view of Frenchman Bay) and ask for directions, help with activities, or dining suggestions. The owners and staff are so helpful, and the stay will last with you a lifetime. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bar Harbor.
3.6 on October 31, 2011
We are visiting at least one national park each year. The Ullikana is a great base for exploring Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor's downtown. The Inn is a bit hard to find, especially in the dark. Hint: It is located behind a bank drive-through. The breakfasts were superb with our own table for two (the first morning) and friendly & interesting folks in the indoor dining room (the second morning).
2.4 on October 20, 2011
Their private road to the parking lot was full of large potholes. Bathroom sink was too small and low to use. Room temperature controls did not function properly. Winds rattled the windows producing load noises at night. We made reservation through BnB Finder and tried to use BnB Finder gift certificate but they would not accept it saying they don't participate. Location was excellent and breakfast was adequate.
4.0 on October 20, 2011
We enjoyed the stay primarily due to the location and the great condition of this wonderful old summer home converted to a B & B. Ullikana is very well located within a short walking distance from the town shopping and eating district. We felt very safe and comfortable.
4.6 on October 20, 2011
We highly recommend the Ullikana and will be returning next year. Due to capacity that weekend we stayed in the Henry room, the smallest at the Ullikana, but we knew this going into it and were not disappointed. We did tour the other rooms and they looked spacious and phenomenal. If you can afford it book room #7. Helene's breakfasts are phenomenal and the service and hospitality Roy provided made for a fantabulous stay in Bra Harbor.

Roy was a terrific guide to the area. Took time with everyone!
5 on October 18, 2011
My daughter and I were delighted with our stay at the Ullikana in Bar Harbor, Maine. Our room was very comfortable and our stay was relaxing. The owners are friendly and helped us make our sightseeing plans. The morning meal was gourmet and served on a terrace overlooking Frenchman Bay. Who could ask for more!
5 on October 12, 2011
The fantastic breakfasts made by Helene gave every day there a special start. Both Roy and Helene, and all the staff, are warm and caring and that's what really sets Ullikana apart from other nice B&Bs.
5 on October 12, 2011
We have been visiting the Ullikana annually for the past several years, and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Bar Harbor. Roy, Helene, Cyd, and Louie (the Lab) make each of us feel like family. They, along with other charming staff members, serve wonderful breakfasts, they always have great hiking suggestions, they help us unwind after active days with wine and cheese and beautiful views, and they keep us up to date on the best places to eat dinner. All go out of their way to accommodate individual or group interests and preferences. A visit to the Ullikana is a uniquely wonderful experience.

This was a lovely, quiet, well-appointed inn, close to all amenities and a quick ride to beautiful Acadia Park. Hosts were delightful and the breakfasts, sitting in the garden, with a view of the harbour were sublime. Late afternoon wine was a real plus after a day in the out-of-doors. We hope to return. Early fall is a particularly pleasant time of year for this area.

We stayed in Agamont room in The Yellow House, it was a large room, nice if a little old fashioned. It had a great shower cubicle and free standing bath. It was clean and comfortable. There was a pantry, downstairs so you could make tea and coffee which was lovely, Free wi-fi. The Inn Keepers were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The only thing I didn't like were the communal breakfast tables, a little too noisy for a morning for us! Breakfast was plentiful, a bit strange for the English taste buds, but you won't go hungry! We loved Bar harbour and The Inn was in a central location. the Acadia National Park was outstanding, and would love to visit again.

Stayed 3 nights in room 7 in Ullikana. This was our first time staying in a B&B and we absolutely enjoyed it. Cyd the inkeeper was awesome! The room was clean and the private deck was worth the extra expense. Helene's muffins in the morning were wonderful. We couldn't have asked for a better first time experience. Highly recommend it!! The Ullikana Inns are wonderful This is our 11th stay there, always in the Yellow House. One could not ask for, nor find, better innkeepers thas Helene & Roy.
5 on September 28, 2011
Although Bar Harbor has many lodging options, my wife and I have been staying at the Ullikana \ Yellow House for 12 years running now. September is a beautiful time of year to visit Acadia National Park (just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor), and the Ullikana innkeepers, Roy & Helene, make it a memorable experience. They are a very hospitable couple and make each guest feel welcome in this northeastern island paradise. Helene's breakfasts alone are worth the stay. I highly recommend choosing to spend part of your Maine vacation at either house.
5 on September 25, 2011
Every year we come back to Bar Harbor we stay at the Ullikana Bed and Breakfast. The atmosphere is unique and enjoyable. Breakfast is to die for as they serve either inside in the dining room or outside on the patio overlooking the harbor. The care taken for each breakfast course and dish shows how much time goes into giving each guest a wonderful experience. We have returned each year at least once, if not multiple times a year for the last 5 years and would not think of staying anywhere else in Bar Harbor. When we go it is a sad day as it feels like we.are leaving family and friends.

We loved our surroundings, absolutely loved the breakfasts, and were incredibly impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff. I think that was the issue which stood out more than anything - absolutely every staff member was courteous, accommodating, incredibly helpful and accessible.
5 on September 21, 2011
The rooms are very nice with great period furniture and really nice appointments. The staff is pleasant and attentive. The breakfast is first class. The inn is within walking distance of all the attractions of Bar Harbor. We stayed in the "Library". It has a great (and almost private porch) and a large bathroom (no tub but large shower). Next time, I'd book a room not so close to the reception area. (Actually, I think the Library is the only one with any problem, slight as it is.) Usually breakfast and wine/cheese are served outside on a beautiful terrace, but during cold or inclement weather the gatherings right by the door to your room can get noisy if you are trying to rest. The rest of the rooms?.... not problem! That said (and assuming you have any other room or the weather is good and you have the Library), expect great service, wonderful food, beautiful furniture and a stay well worth the money charged.

This stay was our second at the beautiful Ullikana B&B and I can't say enough positive about this place. The accommodations are gorgeous and comfortable and the staff are welcoming and very helpful. If you need advice on Bar Harbor dining or sightseeing they are always eager to recommend something. I look forward to returning next year.

Stayed in the Yellow House as part of a New England tour in August 2011. The room was airy and comfortable, Helene's breakfasts were excellent and, with good weather, were taken each day in the garden terrace. Roy's local knowledge and daily weather forecast were invaluable. Location of the inn's close to the town centre was very good but a signpost on Main Street would have helped - look for the two banks and go between them, a street name for The Field or a finger post to the inns would have helped on a busy August afternoon!

We stayed three nights at the Ullikana B&B. It turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more. The room and entire yellow house was charming. The hosts were wonderful, interesting people who helped us with everything from reservations in hard to get places, recommending restaurants that were off the radar, and directing us to fabulous beauty in Acadia and around the area. Helene is a perfect chef...the food was skillfully prepared...delicious but not too fussy and heavy. The setting of the Inn is the best in town! Beautiful views of the bay and within walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. We would return!

This is a lovely property just a block away from the congestion and noise of the main street of Bar Harbor. The inn is spacious and well maintained. Our room, which had a view of the water, was just as advertised. My only complaint was that the inn seemed understaffed--we had to go to another building to find someone to help us check in, and there didn't seem to be anyone to offer advice on tours, attractions, etc. except at breakfast and then that person had more than he could handle. Maybe the owners assume that their guests already know where to go, what they they want to do, etc., but when I go to a B&B I expect more local expert advice than the Ullikana seems set up to provide.
4.4 on August 30, 2011
This is a fabulous bed and breakfast in the middle of Bar Harbor at a very reasonable price. Helene provides the most fabulous breakfasts - easily equivaltent to the most opulent accomodations in Quebec. The staff are courteous and efficient and the house is spotless. If you want convenience , fair price, excellent breakfasts and hospitality - this is the place. Roy will even give you a detailed description of all the hikes you can do.
4.4 on August 28, 2011
Ullikana is a charming B&B in a key location (walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in downtown Bar Harbor). The inn also has some great history. The inn keepers are fabulous. It is clear they take much pride in running their B&B. Roy himself takes time out every morning to offer suggestions and tips on what activities to do during the day. The breakfasts are homemade and absolutely scrumptious. I highly recommend Ullikana!

A gorgeous inn in a gorgeous town. The staff and hosts were supremely friendly, the room (Jack's Room in the Yellow House) was beautiful and clean, and they served much more than your average breakfast fare for a B&B. The Inn's guest pantry is a very nice touch! Close to everything -- water, shops, restaurants, etc. Would definitely return.

My wife and I stayed in the Library Room which was on the first floor and opened up to a porch overlooking the beautiful gardens and the Yellow House B&B with its outdoor sculptures. Location is great as the back yard w/ the breakfast area overlooks the harbor and the B&B is one block away from the downtown area. Definitely hope to stay there again.

We stayed in the Malvern room in the Yellow House, across the way from the Ullikana. We're not crazy about the Victorian look so we appreciated the bold reds and blues of the room, the 4 windows letting in the cool breeze and the comfortable bed. The breakfasts were amazing, each one starting with a muffin warm from the oven and fruit. The main dishes ranged from a German apple pancake to, my favorite, spinach crepes. It was all really well done. We also appreciated the happy hour. The staff provided crackers and cheese and a wonderful roasted red pepper spread that made a tasty combination along with red or white wine. The grounds are beautiful and the staff were all so helpful and accommodating. There was a problem with our shower one day and Roy was kind enough to give us that night free, which was not necessary but was appreciated. Great location. It was pricey but probably the nicest B&B we've ever stayed in and we've stayed in many all across the country. We hope to come back and stay again someday!

The Inn has a really nice and relaxing view of Bar Harbor harbour. The innkeepers made sure that there is info on all activities in and around Acadia National Park and the towns and villages of Mount Desert Island. And one can alwats ask for more. The Inn next door has a good restaurant (Ten Tables).

My husband and I just returned from Bar Harbor, Maine. We spent 3 nights at the Ullikana in room 4. The room was very spacious, lots of closet and drawer space; however, the bathroom for our room was across the hall.....which we knew before we booked the room. This really was not a problem. The inn is conveniently located to the downtown area so you can walk everywhere. The breakfasts were wonderful and served outside on the terrace and everyone associated with the inn was wonderful. They helped us with restaurant selections and Roy was very helpful as we tried to determine which hiking trails to do in Acadia National Park. We would definitely return to the Ullikana if we ever return to Bar Harbor.

The Ullikana Inn is among the finest B&Bs I have stayed in. The innkeepers, Roy and Helene, are warm and welcoming, the breakfasts are fantastic, and the site where breakfast is served (overlooking the harbor) is a delight. If you are going to Bar Harbor, the Ullikana is the place to stay.

We loved everything about our stay. The owners were extremely kind and gracious.

Exceeded all expectations! Breakfast was delicious, the B&B was charming and Helene and Roy were very helpful... and Louie the dog was a riot to watch during breakfast.

We enjoyed ourselves tremendously in Bar Harbor, thanks in large part to Ullikana. Roy & Helene are fantastic hosts and gave us great advice on hiking, restaurants and the island. The breakfasts were amazing, too! We will return.

The innkeepers were kind. The rooms were nicely decorated and very comfortable. The location is great...right in town, without any of the noise. Great Place to Stay.

We travelled in companionship with another befriended couple. They had a beautiful comfortable suite, we had a small room that was much less pricey. Small, but craftfully decorated. Henry's room is a recommendation if you want to stay in a B&B but at a more affordable price. Breakfast is good and healthy, in three courses first a muffin, then some fruit, and then something along the line of a crèpe filled with egg or apple or clotted cream - good. Best of all the relaxing athmosphere of Ullikana, with its reading room - I wouldn't mind spending a rainy day inside the mansion - and its beautiful secluded spot near the busy main street. The owner & innkeeper Roy gave very helpful tips for our stay.

This is a wonderful property. The staff were very friendly, helpful with restuarant recommendation, directions and any request we had. The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We walked to restuarants and the harbor. I would highly recommend this property.

With in moments we were walking the halls of the Inn as comfortably as we would in our own home. The location was hardly a 2 minute walk to the center of town or the beach in the opposite direction, yet was very private. We felt like friends with the staff and owners. And the other guests were very friendly also. It was a truly amazing experience and will be back as often as possible.

We recently spent 5 nights at the Ullikana and had a wonderful experience. Roy and Helene could not have been more gracious hosts. All of the staff greatly exceeded our expectations and the breakfasts were fabulous! No detail was overlooked. We cannot wait to return!

Spent 5 wonderful nights at Ullikana. Property was wonderful and perfectly located in town, but quite. Innkeepers and their staff could not have been more grcious and enjoyable. They were great resource for helping to plan appropriate hikes, biking and other activities. We will be back.

My wife and i stayed at the Ullikana 15 years ago for our honeymoon and loved it. We returned to stay at the Yellow House (same owners, right next door) to spend a weekend and attend a friend's wedding. Both are beautiful old Maine summer "cottages" (more like mansions) with very comfortable shared spaces and quiet and comfortable en suite rooms. Everything is clean and beautiful but not new (and that is good). The two homes are quiet and have wonderful gardens decent sized lawns around them. What we also love is that you can easily walk to everything in in the commercial distrcit of Bar Harbor. Lots of great places to eat and nice shopping if you want it. The shore path starts right in front of the Ullikana. Breakfast is amazing every morning. Roy knows everything about Acadia National Park and spends time in it EVERY DAY. We hope to be back much sooner.

The innkeepers Helene and Roy and all the staff are very nice. Roy knows the Acadia Park very well and gives good information. Ullikana is very well located.

Although the period furniture and bathroom were --- as expected --- less luxurious than a room at a fancy hotel (the shower water temp fluctuated and the bed was a little firm for our tastes), it met and exceeded our expectations as far as atmosphere, beauty, and service went. And they went a long way. From gourmet breakfasts and afternoon wine & cheese to free bottles of olive oil and VOSS water to the owners themselves, who stood with us at a big map of Acadia and told us which hiking trails were the most splendiferous, the service lacked nothing. And the beauty of the house, grounds, and rooms, which (having seen them online) were what brought us here, lacked not a whit either. We felt rather regal. Thanks Helene & Roy!

Our stay at the Inns at Ullikana, in Bar Harbor, Maine was delightful. We felt like very special guests at the owners' home. Their innkeeper was as pleasant and helpful as anyone could desire. The chef/owner was more than accommodating to special nutritional needs, and the food was delicious. And the owner/host was helpful beyond hopes, and the room was just right for our needs. We would return to the Inns at Ullikana for our next visit to Bar Harbor. without hesitation.

The most romantic Inn.. with the nicest people. A cheese/wine snack, amazing breakfasts (best omelette I have ever had).. amazing view. Would stay here for as long as possible!

Just a lovely place. Didn't do any dining so just rated satisfactory. Proximity to downtown is a real plus.

If you're trying to find another reason to visit the already sublime Bar Harbor, the Ullikana Bed and Breakfast is all you need. Roy and Hélène are gracious hosts and they will make you feel like a guest of honor. When you arrive you will have the option of staying either in the Ullikana or the Yellow House, which are both beautiful and historic houses. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and spacious. Furthermore the overall feel of both houses is welcoming and comfortable. You will truly feel like you are staying in a home and not a hotel. The Ullikana is also a short walk from all the restaurants in town, and even better it is right by the water. The breakfast Hélène makes is spectacular and it is just what you need to embark on the journey that Roy will gladly plan for you. I wholeheartedly recommend you visit.

We have stayed every summer at the Ullikana since we discovered it some years ago on a trip to Bar Harbor. We have stayed in many of the rooms at both the Ullikana and the Yellow House and loved them all. Everything about them is unique and wonderful, from the house itself, the owners and staff, the wonderful art that fills every room, the location looking out over the water, Helene's breakfasts, etc. We have been made to simultaneously feel like we are both special guests and family, not an easy thing to do! We love this place and recommend it unequivocably to everyone. Helene and Roy have created a home away from home that you won't want to leave. Thanks for sharing it with us! The inn is beautiful and ideally located. The room was very pretty with a deck overlooking the water. Breakfast was excellent. The owners and staff were very helpful. All in all, it was an outstanding experience. We have already made reservations for next year.

My wife and I stayed for the first time at the Ullikana Yellow house. The breakfasts were delicious and unique on each of our three days. The clientel at breakfast were great, and morning discussions were varied. Roy had great advice on Arcadia and let us use some CD's on the park as we took the auto route. I would've like to have had a TV in the room, but we managed without by using my laptop and the Inn's WIFI. We're looking forward to a return visit.

We've been going to Acadia National Park for years to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Sadly the B&B that we had stayed changed ownership. The "heart" of a B&B is in the owners. Roy and Helene are the "heart" of Ullikana. They made our anniversary a wonderful stay and we hope that we can keep returning each year.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ullikana! Helene and Roy were gracious hosts and always ready to help with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. The breakfasts were delicious, and it is especially nice to be able to sit outside on the back patio to enjoy the food!

Friendly and cordail atmosphere. We were made to feel like a close friend of the family by the owners, the staff and even the household dog. The feel of a country setting but just 100 yards off the main street with restaurants and shopping. Roy was a treasurehouse of knowledge about the park and he guided us well in selecting hikes and rides. The mid-June timing found the park like a private retreat and town uncrowded but active.

We booked Room 7, based on the web site description - and it was just perfect. We loved our little balcony, overseeing glimpses of the harbor. We put restaurant decisions in the hands of our hosts, and both restaurants were top notch. Breakfasts were unique and excellent. The perfect touch was a small box of chocolates on our bed with a note congratulating us on our 50th. It was a very memorable spot, and we hope to return.

Our recent stay at Ullikana was blissful. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the lovely Syd to our last morning spent relaxing in the dining room chatting with other guests and enjoying another amazing breakfast from Helene, we felt so at home! Roy was so helpful each morning as we planned our time at Acadia National Park. He helped us plan our hikes, recommended we enjoy lunch at Jordon Pond House which was so delicious and even recommended a few off-the-beaten-path locations like Thurston's Lobster Pound. His warm demeanor and knowledge of the area helped us really feel like we got the most out of our time in Bar Harbor. We will definitely come back again and again. Ullikana is a gem.

The Inn Staff are exceedingly capable and friendly, making you feel comfortable while still allowing for plenty of privacy and quiet time. The room was lovely, cozy and simple, with great, new amenities and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was delicious, if a bit of a sugar-overload, but don't be afraid to ask for some eggs if you crave something different-- they will happily oblige.

I am never one to repeat and always looking for bigger/better. Not the case with the Ullikana and the Yellow House. We will only consider these Inns when booking a trip to Bar Harbor. Roy and Helene are hosts beyond compare. The staff is as genuine as the hosts, always ready to help in any way possible. The breakfasts are a delight to the taste buds.

Roy and Helene at The Ullikana were wonderful to stay with. Early morning knocks on the kitchen door got me my coffee and a friendly welcoming "Good morning" For all that commercialism and tourism takes away from Bar Harbor, The Ullikana replaces with charm, quality and ambiance. My wife and I look forward to our next trip where the beauty of Acadia and the charm of The Ullikana will fill a day and evening with memories .

This was an exceptional location and value at a beautiful house. Across from the ocean with views from the patio and rooms 6 and 7. Just a short walk to downtown shops and dining. The hosts were delightful and breakfast was fabulous. A home run!

The Ullikana is - without doubt - the nicest B&B I know of, and we have stayed at many in the US. The rooms are beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. The breakfasts are a treat to behold - imaginative and simply delicious. Roy and Helene and their staff are kind, attentive, thoughtful, warm hearted, gracious and very helpful. We stayed in the Yellow House this time - every comfort of home is there, we could not have been more comfortable and delighted with our stay!

It was a great stay; Roy is the commensurate host and Helene's breakfasts on the terrace are wonderful. Roy's knowledge of everything from the best restaurants to every trail in Acadia let us make the best use of our short stay. Even the guests of Illikana are one of its assets... all are friendly, engaging and make good conversations. We are coming back in the fall.

We went to The Ullikana 8 years ago and absolutley loved it. We decided to come back for our anniversary and were so delighted to see Roy and Helene again. The two house are beautiful with wonderfully kept grounds. It was so nice to sit in an adirondack chair and look out to the water to see the boats passing. The bedrooms are quaint, warm and very inviting. The gourmet breakfasts are outstanding to say the least. Everything is made fresh! You can't beat the location. The B&B is located right downtown so shopping, eating and activity planning is right at your finger tips. We plan on returning again and again!

We have enjoyed Roy and Helene's hospitality twice so far. Both experiences were magnificent. Not only are the inns (main house and yellow house) beautifully appointed, with a warm and charming feeling, but the rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The eclectic decor is fabulously put together. In a quiet, hidden corner, tucked away behind the large, commercial hotel, is this slice of quiet contentment, salve for the tired soul. Breakfast is an extraordinary experience, where you sample delicious, gourmet dishes out on the patio, overlooking the harbor, pampered by impeccable service. Roy and Helene redefine the meaning of hospitality with their friendly approach, raising the bar on the standard of good innkeeping. All you can hope for in a bed and breakfast. Roy and Helene were perfect hosts, always giving us advise on were to go and what to see around the island. Breakfast were perfect and very varied. The best muffins I've ever tasted!!! We stayed in Audrey's room, it was very comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. You feel you are home. We highly recommend you stay at the Ullikana. We'll be back.

Our 5 night stay at the Ullikana celebrating my husbands 50th birthday was perfect. The inn is so charming and comfortable. Roy and Helene, as well as their amazing staff were the perfect hosts! We have stayed at many 5 star resorts and the hospitality, friendliness, service and helpfulness of the staff is amazing! Helene's gourmet breakfasts each morning were a treat for the eye as well as the palate. I will miss her delicious culinary talent! The Ullikana was a wonderful respite, a step back in time reminiscent of a stay with a favorite aunt and uncle. We cant wait to visit again!
