Amidst towering pines, The Inn at Bay Ledge literally clings to the cliffs of Mt. Desert Island, which is locally referred to as "The Eden of New England". The decks which overlook the spectacular coastline are extremely inviting and guests may enjoy a swim in our pool, relax in a hammock, or take a walk on our private beach. The elegant bedrooms compliment the style of the inn which was built in the early 1900's, and possess an upscale country ambiance. Beautifully decorated with antiques, all rooms are unique with views of Frenchman's Bay and nearby mountains. King and Queen canopy and antique four poster beds are covered with designer linens, down quilts and feather beds. The cottages off extra privacy and more country style. Each morning a lavish full breakfast is served either on the deck overlooking Frenchman's Bay or before a roaring fire. Unique in character, size, location, and privacy, The Inn at Bay Ledge offers its guests the finest blend of luxury and Maine rustic living.

We have stayed at Bay Ledge several times in various rooms and have found it to be consistently pleasant and gracious. The staff is very hard-working and anxious to please. Lucia is an especially wonderful person and went out of her way to serve wonderful breakfasts with a genuine smile.

The Inn is outside Bar Harbor and we chose it specifically to be out of the hustle and bustle of town. It is right on the water with a beautiful garden and water views. The breakfasts were delicious as were the afternoon treats. The hosts Jack and Jeani were some of the most pleasant people we have met and treated all their guests with the utmost courtesy and respect. Of course you have the beautiful Acadia National Park on your doorstep but even without that the Inn at Bay Ledge would be a lovely place to stay. At the time we stayed the Inn was for sale and but for the fact that we live in the UK, we would seriously contemplate buying it - it is a little piece of paradise.

If you like to walk out of your front door and be in the action, this is not your place. This Inn is about 5 to 10 minutes by car from downtown or the Acadia park entrance. But its distance is part of the charm. We could return at will for a quick refresh or a relaxing glass of wine on our private balcony looking out to Frenchman Bay. The Inn at Bay Ledge offers beautifully appointed rooms, breakfast on the veranda and excellent service. Jack is always there in the morning and he is a great source of local lore and information. We were drawn to this place because of its private access to the beach and it did not disappoint. And if this offends anyone, I apologize in advance, but it is not pet or child friendly. I appreciated the silence and ambience this affords. Kay and Gary Vogel

We absolutely loved the property and the inn keepers. It was our first trip to Maine and I am telling everyone how beautiful it was. Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony. It was heaven. I didn't want to leave. Yummy delicious breakfast, also. Marie

The inn is a great place to spend a few days. The view of the Bay can't be beat. The walk down the stairs from the Inn to the beach is breath taking. The inn is just a few minutes from the center of town, so it is away from the traffic and the noise of Downtown. We enjoyed our stay and would go back .

This was the perfect spot for my quiet weekend away. The location, the Inn, and the hospitality were just supreme. Jack and Jean were lovely hosts, and Ellen in particular was so welcoming - she even made me gluten free cookies so that I could partake in the evening snacks! Just a really wonderful spot

We spent 3 nights at the Inn at Bay Ledge. It was wonderful. The beds were incredibly comfortable and waking up to the sunrise over Frenchman's Bay was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the breakfasts were good I was disappointed in that over three mornings we were served no meat. The pool is also unheated which was a disappointment. The gardens and porch were lovely. I recommend this as a restful and beautiful place to stay.

Jack was able to upgrade us to the Cottage due to a cancellation and it was amazing--so romantic and beautiful, sitting on the edge of the cliff with the trees and water in front. On our last night we moved to the smallest room they had--the Garden room--it's small, but still quite wonderful. Decorations were beautiful in the cottage, in the inn, and the Jean's breakfast was the best we had all week at any B&B in Maine. The view from the inn over the yard to the water is restful and amazing, and I can't imagine a better place to experience Bar Harbor. We'll be back! Ben and Sandee

Both having left the corporate world for the tranquil life of Maine; this is our second Inn on the island of Mt. Desert. Our first was in downtown Bar Harbor, but there was one thing missing...the Ocean. Thus our Inn sits atop an eighty foot cliff with a private beach. A great place for our sailboat. We also enjoy golf, hiking, biking, and skiing. What better place to enjoy it than Acadia National Park...our own back yard!
