The Cleftstone Manor, built in 1884 on “Millionaire’s Row”, is one of the few Victorian mansions to escape the fire of 1947. The seventeen guestrooms, each with private bath, and magnificent common rooms are furnished with Victorian antiques and period pieces, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of turn of the century Bar Harbor. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast each morning created by our chef and owner Anne Bahr as well as afternoon refreshments.

Our first time to Bar Harbor and was there for our 50th anniversary and wanted to get just the right place and it could not have been better. Ann and Bob know how to run an inn and make the stay just right. Great room (The Cleftstone) and all the little special details to make us feel welcome were well attended to.

Greetings from Minnesota... Thank you Anne and Robert and all employed by Cleftstone for making our family reunion/vacation to Bar Harbor a five-star experience. You certainly exceeded our expectations.

You don't have to be Martha Stewart to stay in one of the few remaining "summer cottages" on the island. Short driving distance to Bar Harbor and entrance to Acadia.

Great breakfasts and a pleasant social hour with fellow guests and our host. Short walk to downtown and a bus at the door home.

The house was nicely appointed with period furniture. Our favorite part was the delicious breakfast made by our host, Anne. She was the perfect combination of delightful host and politely reserved.

A nice and quirky old mansion. Lots of corners and stairways to explore. Very quiet and peaceful. The common rooms on the first floor were a great place to sit and sip a glass of wine after a day of hiking. The morning breakfasts were excellent, fresh and hot. Our room on the second floor, the Bruce Price, was very nice, but it took a full 10 minutes for the hot water to get to the shower. Lots of wasted water.

Spent five days camping in Acadia and decided to down te last in the luxury of civilization. Stepping into the cleftstone was like stepping back in time. The decor and afternoon snacks were wonderful. The host was very knowledgeable about te town and the history of the house.
