Our stay at Canterbury Cottage was a great time. Super convenient location, cute room- stayed in the Look Nook, and delicious breakfast. We would definitely return!

For this trip my boyfriend and I had camped for a few days, then spent our last two nights at Canterbury Cottage in order to be comfortable, clean, and well fed before we headed back home. I am so glad we chose to stay at Canterbury Cottage, because it was clean, centrally located, comfortable, and cost about as much as a regular hotel room. The owners were ready to help with anything that we may need, and I even had a wonderful conversation about literature with Martha while she was making breakfast. I used to work in Bar Harbor, so I'm very familiar with the area and didn't need suggestions for things to do or places to eat. That said, I watched the other guests get really great advice for things to do and places to eat while I was there, and they all came back very satisfied with their day's activities. They're only two blocks away from the shops and restaurants, and are on a side street where parking is much easier (parking gets harder to manage in the summer, but in late June it's still not too bad). I loved the amenities, the olive oil/vinegar samples they left for us, and my boyfriend said that he liked the pillow mist they put on the linens. The bathroom is smaller, so expect that, but don't be put off by it. It is still more than enough room to do everything you need to. Lastly, the breakfast was amazing both mornings we were there. Balsamic berries and an inventive eggs Benedict one morning, stuffed french toast and roasted grapefruit the next. I cannot stress enough that anyone staying here needs to make sure they're downstairs for breakfast. It is so delicious. Everything was perfect. Thanks Tim and Martha! Everyone else: go to Bar Harbor, and stay at the Canterbury Cottage. It's worth it.

Innkeepers demonstrated exceptional flexibility and accommodations. We arrived earlier than stated check-in time, but they had the doors open and made sure we felt welcome. Location is excellent, with Bar Island, Main Street, the free shuttle to Acadia National Park, and numerous other quaint streets and shops within walking distance. Coffee and other beverages always available, as well as snacks. Innkeepers were great references on local activities and had numerous local publications/references for guest perusal for planning adventures. Well-behaved, socialized dogs allowed to roam the house off-leash along with the innkeepers' dogs while we were on-premise--a treat after most B&Bs require dogs in crates or on leashes at all times. Great spot to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Canterbury Cottage. It is well located a few blocks from the center of Bar Harbor and near to the bus stop where busses go around the area including Acadia. The breakfast was delicious. We had baked pears and a huge stack of pancakes! Our room, the Look Nook, while beautifully decorated, was a tight squeeze. Try to get one of the other rooms.

My two night stay at Canterbury Cottage exceeded expectations. Martha and Tim are very warm and welcoming hosts--and terrific cooks. The cottage feels like a part of the islands history while offering very contemporary and comfortable accommodations. Once I parked my car out front, I was able to leave it there and see everything I wanted to see on foot. However, I heard Tim and/or Martha educating other residents about island features and the best way to find them. I stayed in the pet friendly room, which, except for a sturdy bedspread, was as lovely as any other. Although I was with a very small dog, I would not have had to worry if I had been with a larger dog that opted to sneak onto the bed while I was sleeping. If I ever return to Bar Harbor, I know where I will be staying.
