Open all year. Small bed and breakfast with comfortable, tastefully decorated rooms. On a quiet side street within easy walking distance to in-town shops, restaurants and Acadia National Park activities. Tim and Martha are outstanding hosts, very friendly, very helpful with restaurants, things to do, places to go and see. Have snacks and beverages available all the time, also can hang out in the living room to review menus, hiking trail books, etc. The only negative we had was the size of the bathroom in the Look Nook room, it was very small. No counter or sink space to get ready, very small mirror above the sink, very small sink, very small shower.

My 3-night stay at Canterbury Cottage was satisfying. The location is convenient to the shops and restaurants and only a few minutes' walk from the waterfront. The room was well-decorated and very clean. Talking with the other guests over very good home-made breakfasts was a great pleasure. I also appreciated having tea and coffee always available in the breakfast room. Mrs. Searchfield and her daughter were friendly and helpful with suggestions for activities in Bar Harbor. The big dog was super friendly. Tim seemed to be in a bad mood and should have either stayed in bed or tried to be friendly- thus 2 stars for service.

Location was great but parking horrible! They had us park partially on their walkway and dangerously close to another vehicle. Charming, but owners were not overly friendly.

This is a great B&B, within walking distance to shops and entertainment. Tim & Martha were great hosts, and gave input each day on places to visit. They also made some fantastic recommendations for dinner - we were not disappointed in their choices. I would recommend their establishment to anyone visiting Bar Harbor. Oh yes - Clinton and Ellie May were the cutest dogs as well.

Canterbury Cottage is a quaint, cosy, period home/B&B, offering excellent value in its ideal location for visiting Bar Harbor and its environs. Tim & Martha are hospitable hosts, more than willing to share their knowledge of the area, and providing delicious breakfasts to give a good start to the day. We look forward to being able to stay there again.

We went to Canterbury Cottage for our honeymoon. DELIGHTFUL stay, will be returning we LOVED it there. They are sweet and helpful but non-obtrustive. The food is phenomenal and they are so welcoming. Rooms have AC are spotless and have private bathrooms! We LOVED our stay and will return! They even surprised us with a bottle of champagne for our honeymoon!

We had never been to Bar Harbor, and Tim and Martha couldn't have been more helpful! They let us borrow their guidebooks and maps, set us up with dinner reservations at one of their favorite restaurants, and told us a lot about hidden gems and off the beaten path places for us to get lobster, hike, and explore the island. The house is in a perfect location for walking into the main part of Bar Harbor to eat, shopping, or gaze out at the beautiful views. The rooms were clean and cozy, and we slept so well in the comfy beds with the windows open! Coming from Atlanta, it was a nice change to have the fresh Maine air circulating our room. The breakfasts were delicious and we met a lot of nice couples. We can't say enough about this wonderful cottage, and hope to come back soon!

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights for our 20th anniversary. This was our first bed and breakfast and we were not disappointed. Canterbury Cottage is located blocks from downtown and the Village Green (central Island Explorer pick-up location). Each morning we were treated to a different, fabulous breakfast. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

can't think of one negative thing to say about our stay here: -convenient location (easily walkable to downtown bar harbor); -clean and comfortable room with a nice bathroom (we stayed in the cottage room); -delicious full breakfasts (blueberry pancakes!); -lots of guidebooks on hand, as well as to-do suggestions from the owners; -very reasonable prices; -pet friendly. the two dogs who live here are sweet and friendly. they are often out of sight, but if you don't like animals, this isn't the right place for you -- because you probably will see them occasionally. i consider having dogs on-site to be a huge plus to any establishment ... reminded me of home!
