Chatsworth is our largest room and features a queen size four poster bed with a huge private bathroom that offers a full sized tub and shower. It is located on the second floor at the rear of the house and offers a quiet retreat for your stay in Bar Harbor. Chatsworth is one of the most beloved historic estate homes in England, and this room gets it’s name from the home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. You will feel like a Lord and Lady yourself during your stay in this spacious room! Amenities include air conditioning, ceiling fan, antique marble-top dresser, and loveseat
Tucked away in a corner on the second floor, Whitby overlooks the quiet one-way street our inn is on. This cozy room features an antique high-back queen size bed, and has a private bathroom with a large shower, a ceiling fan, and air conditioning. The room gets its name from a fishing town in England that is the home to both the Bram Stoker story ‘Dracula’ and seafarer Captain James Cook who sailed to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1758 prior to exploring Australia and New Zealand.
Breakfast is one of the best things about staying at a B&B, and you'll not only enjoy a wonderful full, hearty breakfast, but also friendly conversation in our dining room.
The inn offers wonderfully comfortable rooms, full hearty breakfasts and delightful afternoon refreshments. We have six unique guest rooms all with queen beds and air conditioning; all located just minutes from beautiful Acadia National Park. Aysgarth Station offers gracious and unpretentious personalized service to make every guest feel special.
Featuring an awesome view of Cadillac Mountain from your third floor windows, you will enjoy your stay in this room. The room is furnished with an antique queen size high-bed, handmade antique dresser, and the gabled ceilings that add a distinctively Victorian feel. You also have use of the intimate sun deck located off your hallway at the rear of the inn. Tan Hill has a private bath w/ a tub/shower and has a ceiling fan and air conditioning. The room is named after the highest pub in England, fitting for a room that boasts such a grand view of the highest mountain on the island!
This spacious and airy room is located on the third floor at the rear of the inn high in the trees, and features a queen size antique iron bed and private bathroom with shower. The room has a ceiling fan and air conditioning as well as use of an intimate third floor sun deck off the hallway. Treefalls was the former name of Aysgarth Station on the newly reopened Wensleydale train line in Yorkshire, where Jane grew up.
Located on the main floor, just off the dining room, this room offers easy access to breakfast and coffee. Henley is ideal for people who want to come and go throughout their stay and it’s the perfect room for those leaving early on the CAT Ferry. Henley includes a queen size pineapple bed, ceiling fan, air conditioning, and private bathroom with shower. Highlights include an antique waterfall wardrobe, and a unique desk. With multiple windows featuring original, diamond-pane glass that cover the width of one wall, the summer breezes will ensure your stay is delightful in this comfortable room. The room is named after Henley-on-Thames, home of the Henley Regatta, first held in 1839 on the Thames River in England - one of the world’s most popular rowing events.
Enjoy a Maine Winter at Aysgarth and relax with some warm beverages in front of our fireplace
This second floor room located in the front corner of the inn features a queen size antique iron bed and oak furnishings that will entice you to dream of quiet places in a land far away. The room is decorated with a medieval flair that will make you feel like Lancelot and Guinevere yourself, and is named after one of the finest castles in England. Skipton offers a private bathroom with shower, ceiling fan, and air conditioning and the two corner windows offer a pleasant view of the local scenery.

    Cozy, Comfortable, Great Location

    June 03, 2012

We chose Aysgarth Station for our Memorial Day weekend accommodations because it had great reviews, a downtown location, and had a room available for under $120/night.  We were not disappointed.  The entire inn was cozy and comfortable.  We stayed in the Whitby room,  small but clean with a nicely tiled bathroom and shower.  The location was perfect-- on a very quiet street, but still within comfortable walking distance to Bar Harbor's shops and restaurants.  Also, the street that the inn is located on connects directly to the Park Loop Road, allowing easy access for cycling or driving. The innkeepers, Steve and Jane, were easy to talk to and full of ideas for activities and restaurants.  Breakfast was delicious and filling-- a hot entree, fruit, more baked goods than you'd ever need, and nice strong coffee.  Speaking of coffee, they even had it ready in time for our sunrise hike up Cadillac Mountain one morning!  We will definitely consider returning to Aysgarth Station on our next trip to Bar Harbor.

    Our New Go-To B&B

    April 30, 2012

My fiance and I wanted a weekend away and so we found this place on the internet. As far as we're concerned, unless they're booked up (which would be no surprise), it's the only place we'll look for again. Our room was big and sunny, the bedroom and bath were spotless, we had plenty of everything (including maps and literature), and everything was precise down to the fluffy bath towels. There was no evidence whatsoever of Jane and Steve trying to cut a corner. The owners alone are worth going for. With warm smiles and a delightful sense of humor, they give the immediate impression that you are a welcome guest in a home, not a stranger who is there to pay a fee. They want to know where you're coming from, why you're there, what you're looking for in the Bar Harbor experience, and how they can help you to achieve it. They make wonderful recommendations for hiking and dining, and they have the inside scoop on what is open during the offseason. My fiance and I spent the car ride home talking about how we'd love to hang out with them at a bar! I'd be remiss if I did not mention their phenomenal breakfasts. We were fortunate enough to enjoy two of them during our stay. We were treated to fresh fruit and freshly baked breads and scones, plus lemon-ricotta pancakes on the first morning and a goat cheese and bacon tart on the second morning. We were positively gushing about how wonderful the food was. Again, not a single corner cut anywhere. Steve and Jane just want you to have the best experience you can have, and for that, we thank them!

    Exceptional B & B!

    August 29, 2011

We stayed five nights the middle of August and had a fabulous time. Steve and Jane are incredible hosts, very helpful and warm. Jane's breakfasts are better than any restaurant anywhere. Gourmet all the way!!! We loved both rooms we were in, Tan Hill and Chatsworth. Met some wonderful people from all over the USA and Canada. Would definitely Aysgarth to anyone headed to Bar Harbor. We hope to visit again in the fall of 2012.

Our favorite bed and breakfast in Bar Harbor

    February 08, 2011

We have stayed at several bed and breakfasts in Bar Harbor and this is by far our favorite in any season (and Aysgarth Station is open year-round). Jane and Steve are welcoming and have a wonderful sense of humor, as well as a wealth of knowledge about the area regardless of the season. The rooms are immaculate and attractively decorated, the living room is a perfect place to relax after breakfast and at the end of the day, and the dining room is stocked with tea/coffee/sodas all the time and Jane adds home baked cookies or brownies in the afternoon. And then there are Jane's wonderful breakfasts...We always look forward to a chance to visit the beautiful area and Aysgarth Station.

    GREAT B&B

    October 14, 2010

In July 2010, we were vacationing for one week at Aysgarth Station. The house was just wonderful, extremely nice and comfortable. A very charming and peaceful location. Our hostesses, Jane and Steve were very welcoming and friendly. They know extremely well the Island of Mount Desert Island and the Acadia National Park. Therefore they were excellent counsellors at all level; on restaurants, hiking, cycling, activities and also providing their clientele with a lot of documentation. Aysgarth Station is also very well located. A small peaceful street at walking distance to Bar Harbour. Finally Jane is an excellent cook, her breakfasts were delicious; she offered an excellent selection with a happy and friendly service. Jane understood and spoke some French, which was helpful and pleasant for us. We shall return. M&D
