Morewood has undergone a complete historically correct restoration. Everything is authentic, including antique marble baths resembling those in the Vanderbilt mansions. No expense was spared, and no detail overlooked - months of work by master muralists and artists have created masterpieces of rooms for your enjoyment. Live music flows from the historic model O Steinway Grand piano daily. Guests are welcome to enjoy nearly every spectacular room in the mansion, but are provided a map to avoid getting lost!

Morewood, the "Charles Whittlesey Power House," is attributed to the architecture of Sir Edwin Lutyens, who is considered the finest architect of English Country homes who ever lived. Its style is adapted from the Elizabethan period homes in England. It is a clean-lined house whose roof-line is reminiscent of early roofs made of thatch. Adjacent to the historic Country Club of Pittsfield, it enjoys a splendid setting on over eleven acres of both wooded and open land. Like Elizabethan period homes in England, it has leaded glass windows throughout - over 160 windows, with original brass hardware. The domestic areas are the only exceptions, which include the kitchen, butler pantry, chauffer's waiting room, coal room, and domestic's living quarters. The carriage entrance, however, adds a Gothic impression. The formal garden, with its central fountain, gazebo, and gated entry to the carriage barn, gracefully complement the home's English influences. The home is featured under "Types of Country Homes" in a book entitled, "Pittsfield Views," published in 1912, and is among the reference books in the Local History Department of the Berkshire Atheneum.
