Cozy Berkshire Getaway
on September 26, 2015
My husband and I were in need of a cozy getaway for two, and I was determined to find the perfect place. We planned our escape on the heels of a family wedding in New Jersey and settled on the Berkshires. Having never been to the Berkshires, I set out to do my intense research and chose the Cornell Inn. I chose wisely! The Inn is made up of three historic buidings, each with its own unique charm. We stayed in the MacDonald House and had a wonderful romantic four night stay, filled with yummy breakfasts to get us ready for our hiking adventures, museums and the typical sightseeing of the area. Our host, Tim, and his staff were warm, welcoming, gracious and always available to ensure our stay was perfect. Each morning we had a hearty breakfast with plenty of options to choose from, including scrumptious pancakes to eggs over easy. Fruit, cereal and muffins were always available. Our room had a king bed and fireplace and we could have spent the week just there. We did manage to take advantage of the great location of the Cornell Inn, which is very close to wonderful restaurants, historic sites, museums and beautiful hiking trails.
I would stay here again and recommend it to any of my friends.

This B&B was clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient to town. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and they accommodated special dietary requests. My only concern was that the stones at the entrance made it difficult for a rolling suitcase. I would stay here again and recommend it to any of my friends.

Cornell Inn Bed and Breakfast is an overall wonderful place! It's centrally located to everything you may want to explore while vising the Berkshires.; Shakespeare & Co, Tanglewood, museums, restaurants and so much more! The breakfast is amazing and there are snacks provided throughout the day.
This is my second visit and I'm already planning for next summer's return!
Stayed to go to Tanglewood
on August 17, 2015
My wife and I were attending a Sunday evening concert at Tanglewood, and stayed over. Everything was very nice, but our only comment / criticism would be that when we booked the room, the website said this was the last room, and it was priced at $330 (with tax) one of the higher priced rooms they have. However, when we arrive Sunday afternoon, there was a "vacancy" sign up. We would have been happy with one of their smaller, less pricey rooms, but they were not shown as "available". I am assuming this is probably a common practice in Lenox, as we saw many other Inns and B&Bs with signs showing "vacancy" on Sunday afternoon, when just one week earlier online their websites showed "no availability". No new strategy next time will be to go old school and arrive earlier, drive around and incur about these "vacancies"...my bet is I get a better rate.
Hi, thanks for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. I'd like to provide some information regarding your comment. At the time you booked the room (10 days prior to your stay), it was the only available room at our inn. As you know, Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma were at Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra that evening, and they always draw a crowd. Many Lenox inns are booked to 100% during summer weekends and during key Tanglewood concerts and most have a 2- or 3- night minimum all summer; in this case, we permitted a one-night stay because we had one night available in that particular room between two stays which were booked (8 and 3 months, respectively) ahead of time. To address your concern about availability--our vacancy sign was up during your visit because another guest cancelled her Friday-to-Monday reservation with short notice (on Thursday) and we were unable to rebook the Sunday night of her reservation. Believe me, we would have preferred to have all of the rooms booked, but we ended up with one empty room on that Sunday night. For future reference, it is possible that you may occasionally get a better rate as a "walk in" later in the day, but most inns are usually booked to 100% on summer weekends and we usually only have same-day vacancies if there is a short-notice cancellation. I hope I have shed some light on the reasons for the apparent disconnect. If you'd like more information or clarification, please call me at your convenience.
We hope you choose to visit us again in the future--I recommend calling early for the best prices and most options.
Beautiful Gardens...average rooms...wonderful value
on August 16, 2015
We spent two evenings at the Cornell Inn and had a wonderful time. The rooms and bathrooms need updating. First on the todo list should be an immediate upgrade of bath towels and the bedding. Bed and room was comfortable and peaceful. Each room has an attached outdoor sitting area overlooking the beautiful gardens and water feature. The staff was attentive (but not overly so) and friendly. Breakfast was very good and the value overall was excellent.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We appreciate your input and will take it into consideration. I'm glad overall, you found our B&B to an excellent value.

Though our room was small, the inn generally was a delight: it provided an excellent, full breakfast (with a huge variety of options) which we ate in beautiful garden featuring a waterfall and a lily pond. The facility was immaculately clean and the staff friendly and helpful. For music lovers, Tanglewood is a short drive away. For nature lovers, a lovely park adjoins the property.
Thanks for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed your time with us! Thanks for your kind words.
