This place is great! One of my turn offs to some smaller Inns is that they don't have private bathrooms. We loved our room, the Innkeepers were soooo nice and pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone was comfortable. I loved the little bar area and small snacks. That was a great touch. And the breakfast each morning was outstanding. We will be back!
Thanks for taking the time to write us a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with us and in the Berkshires. Our little in-house pub is a fun place to relax and meet other guests and well our breakfast crew, they serve up some tasty meals, thank goodness I love to run! Hope to see you back again! Enjoy the holiday season!

We had a beautiful 2 night stay at the Cornell Inn. Very friendly inn keeper and our room was fine. The only oddity was that the room was never freshened on our 2nd day. Bed wasn't made nor bathroom done. We weren't sure if this was traditional for a 2nd night, so we just made it ourselves when we got back.Breakfast was delicious, omelets & eggs to order along with pancakes, meats, potatoes and lovely pumpkin muffins. We would certainly return to stay again.
Thank you for reviewing our B&B. I'm so sorry your room was not attended to during your 2nd day. That is unacceptable. Again, I'm so sorry and will speak with housekeeping immediately. I'm glad you were able to enjoy our ample and varied breakfasts, as I too find them quite tasty. Best Wishes- Nell McCaffery

We did a 8 day fall color loop of New England with a different B&B stop each night. This one was the BEST! You could be happy just hanging out here. OK, the particulars: Personally greeted by the hostess and friendly staff-given an inn and grounds (large place) tour then shown to our room and told instructions on how everything worked-included a DuraFlame log for our fire place (we stayed in the carriage house-Martha Washington room), antique yet modern conveniences, these folks know Fall!-great fall decor everywhere, pumpkin spice candles (not heavy or overwhelming!) never ending hot apple cider, cookies and pumpkin muffins out, Breakfast 8-10:00 am hot buffet with cider pancakes, 2 kinds of frittatas, fresh fruit, potatoes, etc, (interestingly 3 of the B&B's we stayed at counted suppling tea or coffee as Breakfast- when on site dining was avertised-not good when traveling with a hungry husband!) dining room can accommodate individuals, couples, or groups-very open and friendly with views of their lovely grounds-chef present and helpful, outside seating and romantic niches, They provide a binder with menus from the all the other local eateries too, Main St. of Lenox is exquisite-looks like a Hollywood movie set & first full service gas station attendant we had in last 10 years LOL Thank you Cornell Inn! You were the quintessential B&B!
Wow- All I can say is THANK YOU for the glowing review. I'm so happy you enjoyed yourselves at our B&B and in Lenox. Wishing you all the best-- Nell McCaffery

My husband and myself and our adult son booked two rooms. Our room (Van Buren Hannah, in the Carriage House) was spacious, comfortable and had a good fully equipped kitchen, and a separate living area. Our son's rooms, Van Buren, Martin was smaller without a separate living room. Cornell Inn provides substantial and delicious breakfasts with a wide variety of food to choose from. The view from the Breakfast room is charming as it looks onto a very pretty garden complete with little waterfall and backed by a peaceful forest. Room rates were expensive in comparison with other places we stayed at. However it was peak leaf-peeping time, so probably anywhere in the town would be expensive. Hostess very friendly and welcoming.
Thanks for taking the time to review our B&B. I'm glad you were able to visit Lenox during the Fall Folliage. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

We spent two nights at The Cornell Inn and were very pleased with our choice. The mid-week prices are quite reasonable, the room was spacious and exactly as pictured, the location perfect for a visit to the Berkshires. Our breakfasts were fine, although we've had better. It's possible that this is because we generally stay at smaller Bed and Breakfast accommodations where it's easier to prepare for a smaller group of guests. We did enjoy the yummy chocolate cookies with tea after a busy day of sightseeing, though! As an aside, dinner at Brava and at the Tavern at the Red Lion were both great.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us and in the Berkshires. Happy Travels- Nell

Tim is a gracious host and the Inn met all of our expectations for a relaxing weekend in the Berkshires. Just 1/2 mile from downtown Lenox with lots of great restaurant options - loved Nudel and Alta! Also just 6 miles to Sturbridge. Easy access to all the area has to offer. And no one is joking about those breakfasts - they wer amazing - still dreaming about the spinach and artichoke quiche!
Thanks for taking the time to write us a review. I'm glad my husband, Tim, made you feel welcomed at our B&B, I completely agree he's a gracious lad, a keeper for certain. ;) Lenox, is a ton of fun during the slower seasons as one is able to enjoy the many nice restaurants as well as the many attractions in the surrounding areas minus the traffic of the summer time hoopla. We hope you come for another visit in the future! Cheers, Nell McCaffery

When I rate " met my expectations " , I mean we were very pleased with our stay . It was what we wanted : a charming old house , comfortable , with the appropriate atmosphere . the welcome , room and services were at the pleasant level we expected . We would go back if we have the opportunity .
We're glad your respite in the Berkshires and at our Inn. We hope you come back if you head back to this beautiful part of the country.

We stayed overnight at the Cornell Inn in late September. Our communications with the Inn were fantastic in setting up our stay and with assistance in choosing our rooms. Everything was as described on the inn's website. The breakfast was superb with consideration for any dietary issues. This is simply a gem of a find in Lenox with the location so close (within walking distance) to town for dining and exploring. We will definitely stay here again! Mark and Tina Bunce

Loved this place from the moment we drove up the drive. We were greeted with a smile, and offered coffee, and fresh warm cookies. Our room smelled fresh, and all the colors and furnishings were warm and cheery. The other guests were very happy as well. We met a few couples who we had dinner with and socialized with out in town. The breakfast was outstanding, it really made our tummys happy... The two hosts/innkeepers were so helpful and went out of their way to ask if we needed anything. I will definitely return there and tell everyone to visit there as well.
Thanks for the gracious review. We're glad you had fun at our B&B and in the beautiful Berkshires.

The room, food and hospitality were great, and this is an excellent location for touring the Berkshires. The new owners are the kind of people you want to see own a B&B, and in a few minutes with them they feel like old friends. We have stayed at a lot of B&B's in North America and Europe, and this is one of the best. Craig & Linda, Grand Rapids, MI

My husband and I stayed overnight here on our way back from dropping our daughter off at her college in Boston. It was our first night as Empty Nesters, and provided the perfect environment for a night of quiet relaxation. Our room, in one of the outlying houses, was charming and cozy,a nd it was almost, but not qite, cold enough to use the corner fireplace. After dinner in twon, we relaxedon the porch with a glass of wine. Our only regret was that the rain prevented us from sitting out in the beautiful garden. breakfast in teh morning was delicious and plentiful. We considered the rates a bargain for the area and the quality of accommodations, and will definitely return in the future. Everything was excellent.
We're so glad you enjoyed your mini respite after dropping your daughter off at college, that must have been tough, but at the same time wonderful! We hope you come back for another visit when the weather will allow you to relax around the pond and listen to the waterfall. Best Wishes- Nell McCaffery

Stayed here for the first time last week, was looking for decent place in Lenox and saw they had good reviews and bargain prices on Sunday nights, so we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! Really friendly owners with tons of energy, anxious to please their guests. Beautiful large room (we stayed in Frances) with a small deck overlooking woods. Sylvan grounds with small waterfall and fish pond, with chairs and tables surrounding same for sitting, sunning, and eating breakfast. Buffet hot breakfast (plus eggs-cooked-to-order option) was delicious and varied, including the usual suspects and lots of fresh fruit. Also delicious homemade snacks (love those lemon squares!) are supplied in the afternoon. There is a small pub open in the evenings that we didn't have time to patronize. The inn, which consists of three well-maintained historic buildings, offers a variety of styles/sizes of rooms and is a fairly short (though down a steep hill) walk into central Lenox, where there are some good restaurants (we enjoyed Frankie's) and an excellent independent bookstore. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Lenox. The "regular" rates (Fri-Sat) are fairly high, but about normal for Lenox, and this place is much nicer than some others we've stayed at nearby that were even more expensive. Highly recommended.
Thank you for the detailed and kind review. We're glad you enjoyed yourself at our Inn during your time in the Berkshires. Frances is a great room, and our cooking staff are truly amazing with the quality and variety they prepare for our guests each and every day. I love the short walk (about 10 city blocks) into downtown Lenox as it provides you with a bit of exercise which is especially appreciated after dining and one of the many fine restaurants downtown! We hope you come back again for another visit in the not too distant future as each season in Lenox truly has its own vibe!

I'll start by saying that I don't usually stay at B&B's, but the charming atmosphere and attentive service of The Cornell Inn may have changed my mind. The room was clean and nicely appointed with updated conveniences and a small porch. The property, with its waterfall and stream, added to the quaint ambiance, and really made me feel that we were staying in a magical place. My husband, who is a breakfast aficionado, loved the homemade pancakes and fresh toast. I appreciated the fresh fruit and warm cobbler. I would absolutely recommend this inn to anyone coming to the area.
We're happy we changed your mind about B&B's. We're so happy you enjoyed our Inn and the beautiful Berkshires We appreciate you noticing that we are trying out best to please our guests. While I may be a tad bit biased, I believe our breakfasts are quite amazing, and you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer selection and higher quality within the area. We are fortunate to have a great breakfast crew as part of our team at The Cornell Inn. Thanks for recommending us to others and we hope you visit again sometime!

We had a pleasant time. We felt welcome and especially enjoyed the breakfasts and the grounds. There has obviously been real attention to modernization. The room was good, but the bed was not particularly comfortable. The high four poster bed was a nice touch, but comfort was an issue. Bathroom was fine and shower great. With the exception of the bed, a really nice experience.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Inn. I'm glad that overall your experience with us and in the Berkshires was enjoyable I appreciate you noticing some of the improvements we're trying to make to the property and the guests' individual stay. I'm sorry you felt the bed was uncomfortable. We have put in new mattresses for many of our rooms, but even then it is hard to determine what is comfortable with each guest as some prefer a firmer fit while others prefer a softer touch. Regardless, I'm glad you let us know and that you were so understanding. While we continue to update the rooms, we'll always have some extra mattress pads to help ensure every one's needs are met to our best ability. Best Wishes-

We had a lovely 2 night stay. Our hosts were welcoming and very helpful regarding local activities. The breakfast room opens onto a wonderful patio with a fish pool and one can spend as much of the morning there as you like. Buffet breakfasts were excellent, with many choices including abundant fresh fruit (and all you can eat...!). Our room had a balcony overlooking the patio with Adirondack chairs.
Thanks for the nice review we're glad you enjoyed your stay in the Berkshires. We are very fortunate to have a great breakfast crew and lovely area to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area with the soft sound of the waterfall. We hope you return for another visit in the near future.

We booked one night here at the last minute to go to a Shakespeare Play in Lenox, knowing nothing about the Inn but found it to be totally wonderful. The owners appear to run the Inn and are incredibly welcoming and flexible (e.g. we drank tea all morning from the breakfast bar and had a late check out, which the front desk was happy and accomodating about), the rooms are spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed with antique lamps and nice bedding, and very comfortable, the shower was as good as my shower at home, and the food was amazing. Breakfast was I think the best breakfast I have ever eaten in any hotel or Inn in New England - homemade berry muffins, multigrain pancakes, quiche, home Fries and 2 kinds of French toast and fruit, toast etc. All homemade and really good. Plus there was coffee and home baked cookies when we arrived mid-afternoon. The garden is also wonderful - a serene place with a pond and seats where we sat and chatted all morning, just because it was so relaxing and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again.
We're so glad and thankful you decided to give us a try on your quick trip to Lenox. Thank you for the lovely review. We hope you decided to visit again next summer! Best Wishes-

Wonderful place for an overnight stay after Tanglewood. Would love to come back in the wintertime. Such a nice, cozy , comfortable place to stay. A good location.
While we love the hustle and bustle the summer season provides, visiting in Fall and Winter is a completely different vibe. Very cozy indeed, we have 18 rooms with wood burning fireplaces, its much easier to get a reservation at one of the many restaurants, or simply relax with fellow guests in our in-house pub.

My wife and I couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Cornell Inn in early August. The new owners take loving pride in the inn and in making their guests happy. Breakfasts (included) were delicious, especially when eaten at an outdoor table in the calm, beautiful grounds. Easy walk to downtown Lenox and quick drive to Tanglewood. We plan to return next summer.

Not in the traffic mess around Church Street, the Cornell is a short walk away down Main St. (Rte 7A), but it seems like a world apart. Having breakfast on the patio, the sun streaming in, is glorious. The rooms are typical B&B. It's very comfortable, and the new owners couldn't be more accommodating and pleasant. It was a delightful stay, and while not our first, it won't be our last, either.
We'er happy you enjoyed your stay with us just a hop, skip, and a jump from downtown Lenox. While we love our little town, it does get a bit hectic in the summer. We feel our guests can escape a bit of the hustle and bustle of town but still have the ability to walk to town and enjoy the hoopla if they wish to do so, being that we are a mere 10 city blocks to the town center. We hope you come back to see us again- Cheers, Nell

My companion and I recently enjoyed a lovely stay at the Cornell Inn. The inn is centrally located with easy access to many local attractions. The innkeepers are gracious, down-to-earth, available and helpful with any questions or needs. The breakfast is abundant, fresh and delicious and there is a lovely courtyard where you can have breakfast, read or relax, and/or sit with a drink in the evening. I highly recommend this inn.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Inn. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry to hear the lighting was not sufficient to suit your needs. We have recently invested in energy efficient brighter bulbs to enhance the lightening throughout the Inn, as well as helping the environment by decreasing our electrical usage. Best Wishes- Nell

Stayed in the Dolly (or Dolley) Room during the 2nd week of July, 2013. This room overlooks Main Street, which turned out to have more traffic noise that we'd expected. The loud fain of the air conditioner somewhat masked the traffic. The room smelled a little too much of cleaning chemicals, but otherwise was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, furniture-wise. The inn on the whole was appealing, but on a future visit, we'd probably select a quieter room. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful; the breakfasts were quite nice. We thought the price for a Berkshire B&B was phenomenal.
3.8 on July 24, 2013
This B&B has excellent service! Everyone there is extremely pleasant, and the pub food (available after 3) was delicious. The next time we stay, we're going to try one of their Tanglewood pre-packed picnic baskets! My only complaint is that there were several small spiders trying to make a home in our bathroom. Easy to sweep out, but it seemed like the room needed to be swept out before we arrived. Otherwise, and excellent stay, and we highly recommend the Cornell!

We were in Lenox for a wedding at the Mount. We do not generally stay at B&Bs. The other options in the area were other B&Bs, Inns, or motels. The prices in the area are high and most had 3 night minimums and we only wanted to stay 2 nights. Cornell did not require 3. Overall the facility was acceptable. It's under new ownership and there seems to be a sincere effort to improve the quality.

The house and grounds at Cornell House are beautiful, a delightful experience. With a short walk into Lenox, the House location made the two night stay even more convenient. Unfortunately, there was no room service provided during the day (we left a "Please make-up room service" tag on our doorknob between 11 AM and 3 PM, and between 4:30 PM and 8 PM). The two twin beds were much too hard for the average person. My wife likes a firm bed, but even she could not get a good night's sleep. In addition, there was too much dust and lint in the room. The Air conditioner worked pretty well, but since there was no dehumidifier working in it, the room became very humid (thus our bodies and clothes couldn't dry out very well). However, the breakfast was a highlight of the stay, with much variety and quality in everything. The desk staff was pleasant and helpful, but only two nights stay made it impossible to solve our room problems in time.

We stayed at the Cornell Inn after two nights in two other bed and breakfasts. Unfortunately, of the three, it was our least liked. First, the good: It was very well situated near downtown Lenox and very easy to find. The innkeepers were very pleasant and helpful. There was a beautiful fish pond on the property that was lovely and relaxing to sit around. And, the not so good: Our bed frame came apart when we first sat on it, causing the bed to crash to the floor (although it was promptly fixed). The WiFi didn't work in our room (which was in an adjacent building) so we had to go to the main building to use it. The walls between our room and the next (and the locked door between them) was very thin and we could hear everything going on in the next room, including the very loud television at 10:00 pm. Lastly, the breakfast cook seem very unprepared with breakfast, with it being set up late and guests having to ask for things that he forgot to put out. Also, the food was ok, but not great. Like the title suggests, perhaps it was just a bad day with a handful of unpleasant things coincidentally lining up. I wouldn't necessarily be against giving it another try.

The Cornell Inn was in a great location; close to town yet away from congestion. Close to Kennedy Park where I could walk/hike and ride my bike. I'm a beginner mtn biker and it was a great way to learn on the carriage trails/single line trail. Tanglewood was a short drive away and we took back roads so didn't have to wait in traffic after the show. Jacob's Pillow was a 25 minute drive and the entire center was beautiful and loved the free show so stayed and bought a ticket for DTH, Dance Theatre of Harlem. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Loved the sound of the small waterfall throughout the stay. Thank You I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend.
4.6 on June 17, 2013
While the room at The Cornell Inn was very pretty, it was right on the road which proved to be quite noisy with 7:30 am paving going on. The breakfast was good but because it was buffet style, it was just lukewarm when we got there at about 9:00 am. Maybe burners under the warmers would keep the food warm.

Stayed two nights in the Dolly room. For me it was the perfect blend of a real honest Victorian house, maintained beautifully, with amenities like a modern bathroom and WiFi. Service was just outstanding, my friend and I wanted to have a fire outside after we got back late from dinner and the staff set everything up for us. Others used to big hotels might find the rooms too small or be annoyed at a creaking floor here or there but those things made me feel at home and I could not have been happier.

We had a very nice time staying at the Cornell Inn. The inn is well maintained and comfortable. The grounds are lovely. There is a pond and waterfall behind the main house. The innkeepers are a nice couple from NYC. The breakfast was incredible. They had French toast, pancakes, quiche, bacon and other items. They planned to offer dinner during the summer. We will definitely be back.

Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast offered nice variety- fruit salad, broccoli-cheese omelet, hot just out of the oven peach-rhubard crisp and banana muffins, french toast, pancakes, breads, pastries. Nicely landscaped, patio and hill-side seating next to small koi fish pond/waterfall for outdoor eating/drinks. Room: Old windows difficult to open, screens out of tracks. No mattress pad & thin sheets. Connected to Cornell B&B network, but no internet access. Traffic noise in eve and morning (front rooms).

Lovely inn - not quite sure if we ever met owners/proprietors. No one to greet us upon arrival or to help with questions throughout stay...but not a big deal. Grounds were great, really nice outdoor patio with pond...so peaceful. Room (Frances) was really nice - could have used a little more attention with respect to cleaning (bathroom walls & dusting underneath bed). Really yummy breakfast. Would stay again.

Nice place for the price. Very comfortable. Before we arrived they had already emailed with us about our dietary needs regarding breakfast, which was appreciated. Nice people, room was very clean - mattress and bedding looked brand new. Would stay again.
Thank you for taking the time to review our Inn. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at The Cornell Inn and the Berkshire region. I'm glad Lance was able to address all of your dietary needs. We hope you return again for another visit! Cheers, Nell McCaffery

My husband and I recently stayed at the Lenox over the weekend. The hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and shops in town, the staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms and location were charming. I would definitely recommend it.

The Cornell is like a little bit of home away from home. The managers dogs in and around, with barking were a bit annoying. I would return to the Cornell. Good value for the price.
Thank you for your review of our Inn. I'm glad your overall stay was enjoyable. I'm sorry Lance's dogs were a bit troublesome for you. I too am a dog lover, but excessive barking is not enjoyable for anyone. Since your stay I have talked to Lance about his dogs, whom are very nice. He now has both of them on leash at all times and they no longer will be entering and exiting his residence via the main staircase. We hope to see you back for another visit in the not too distant future.

The Cornell in is conveniently located in town and consists of several buildings. Room was well-appointed, comfortable and everything in the main house was well-kept. Breakfast was very nicely prepared and the caretaker offered to let us use the sitting areas in the inn as long as we needed. Our family stayed in the McDonald house, which has a suite large enough to accommodate a family of five.
Thank you for such a wonderful review of our Inn. I'm glad you had an enjoyable stay both in the Berkshires and at the Inn itself. Lance is a thoughtful managaer and amazing chef, we are fortunate to have him as part of our team. I"m glad your room in the MacDonald House was able to meet your needs. We look forward to your next visit. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

Excellent experience on an early Spring weekend at Cornell Inn. Service was excellent meeting special needs and requests quickly. Breakfast area was spacious and comfortable, food was satisfactory. Definitely an excellent value for the cost in the Lenox area. Recommend it highly

Clean, comfortable, nice breakfast, friendly staff. Buildings could use some sprucing up. It was appropriately priced.
Thank-you for reviewing our Inn. We're glad you had a pleasant stay. Indeed, since we took over the Inn last September all three of the buildings are in need of a "face lift." We are working towards that goal. First we had to take care of some structural items and now we are tackling the exteriors of the buildings and the grounds. We hope you come back for another visit in the not too distant future. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

The staff were pleasant, helpful with all request, and accommodating at all times. Breakfast was excellent, my room was very clean, and pleasant.
Thank you for the kind review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us in the Berkshires. Since taking over the Inn in September, our whole staff has been working on improving the overall satisfaction of the guests' needs as well as making improvements to grounds and buildings. Lance and Karen have some fabulous skills in the kitchen and we are fortunate to have them as part of our team. We hope you come back again for another visit. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

The Manager/Chef was very friendly and an outstanding cook. The room in the carriage house was clean and very nicely done as shown in the pictures. Our only complaint was that the whirlpool tub was a bit small. Other then that we had an excellent stay.
Thank you for your kind review of our Inn. I'm glad you had an enjoyable stay while in the Berkshires. I'm sorry the whirlpool tub was a bit on the smaller size, but within historic homes there is only so much room to try and update with more modern ammenities. We appreciate your understanding. We hope you come back again for another visit. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

I'm glad I found this B&B, it is a"hidden gem!" We absolutely loved our stay in the Nancy room in the MacDonald House and were impressed by the rich history of the house and the B&B. Lance, the innkeeper, was very gracious and provided us with a nightly log for the fireplace. He is also a great cook...loved those pumpkin pancakes! This was a winter getaway, so we visited the museums--look for the combo packages to save you money. We plan to go back for the full summer experience at Tanglewood. Thanks for the Berkshire hospitality!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Cornell Inn and your time in the Berkshires. Lance and Karen are amazing chefs and we are lucky to have them as part of our team. While the summmer months in the Berkshires are lovely, I love the calm and simplicity of life here during the winter season. We look forward to seeing you this summer. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

Our weekend stay at the Cornell was great. The breakfast was great and the people were friendly. The location was idea. The room was a bit smaller than I expected and as unappealing to the eye as I know it would be, it would be nice to have a small fridge hidden in the room to keep leftovers in from eating out for lunches and dinners. All in all, a great place and I can't wait to stay again!
Thanks for taking the time to write a review and give us your feedback. I'm sorry the room seemed a bit smaller than you had anticipated. Yes, it would be nice to have a refrigerator in all of our rooms, but because the buildings are historic and have uniquely shaped and smaller sized rooms that simply isn't a possibility. However, we do look forward to your return visit and hope you will be once again happy with your service and stay. Cheers, Nell McCaffery

Wonderful B&B at a very competitive price. Recommended for couples that are looking for a weekend away.
Thank you for your kind words regarding our Inn. I'm glad we could provide you with a week-end getaway at an affordable price in these tough economic times. While the Berkshires are beautiful and busy during the summer months, I feel Lenox is a hidden gem in the winter as a good respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and a good place to visit many amazing art museums and historic homes. We hope you come back for another visit! Nell McCaffery

Beautiful, cozy and affordable B&B in Lenox. Perfect for a weekend getaway! We didn't really interact much with the people there but everyone seemed very friendly. Rooms were small but very pretty and very clean. There was even some candy when we arrived! And the breakfast was pretty tasty and diverse, certainly better than what you'd find at a chain hotel and all for the same price.
Thank you for the kind review of our Inn and we're glad you had an enjoyable stay with us during your respite to the Berkshires. I'm glad you enjoyed the candy and found the rooms enjoyble, albeit small compared to today's modern hotels. We hope you come back for another visit as we recently opened our in house pub so our guests can congregate with one another over a pint or two! Best Wishes Nell McCaffery

Thank you for taking the time to review our Inn. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us during the winter season in the Berkshires. Since your stay we have decided to provide one complimentary log/evening vs. one's entire stay, as we all know New England winter nights can be a bit chilly. We hope to see you again be it during the summer, fall, or winter. Best Wishes, Nell McCaffery

This inn is a very cute and lovely place. The room (Nancy) I stayed was very cozy and clean in general. May not be spotless, but the inn's laid back and comfortable mood was really wonderful. Don't miss its fantastic breakfast! Finally, its location is terrific for Berkshire tourists.
Thank you for your kind words regarding our Inn. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself while staying with us during your visit to the Berkshires. Lance and Karen possess amazing skills in the kitchen and we are fortunate to have them on our team. I'm sorry our Inn a/o your room was not spotless. That's a big no-no for me, as I'm a bit type A. I apprecaite your understanding but have talked to housekeeping about what I expect from them on a daily and weekly basis. I'm glad you enjoyed our casual atmosphere. We hope you come back for another visit as our in house pub is now open on a daily basis and our our rebuilt pond, new patio and lawn furniture will provide wonderful comfort to our guests this spring and summer. Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The room was warm with an excellent and the breakfasts were wonderful. The inn is located close to lenox but far enough out that it's nice and quiet. When we requested late checkout and needed a place to store our bags on the last day, the front office staff were understanding and accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend this inn.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and time in the Berkshires. I'm glad you enjoyed our amazing breakfasts and location. Everything in Lenox during the summer is expensive and this place is no different, even if the quality of the room is merely "quaint". No TV, no refrigerator, no desk/table in the room, no place to put your stuff in the bathroom. It was tedious to stay there for more than a day.
Thank-you for your review. While your stay at The Cornell was not during our time of our ownership I did want to tell you that we have made significant changes. Since your stay we have put on a new roof, all of our rooms with fireplaces are fully functional, most of the rooms have new AC/Heating units, the majority of the rooms have TV's, (though due to some of the sizes of the smaller rooms and in addition to some people not wishing for TV's in their rooms so do not), we rebuilt the pond, purchased new beds and pillows, as well as lawn and patio furniture. We also upgraded our tolietries and our in-house pub is now open on a daily basis for our guests' enjoyment. Because The Cornell Inn is comprised of 3 historic buildings not all of the rooms have tables, or refrigerators, though some do. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay but hope if you did come back to the Berkshires we'd love for you to give us another try. Best Wishes- Nell McCaffery

We sought a last minute get away, and found The Cornell! It was wonderful! The breakfast was definitely outstanding, with really special preparation. There was coffee, tea and hot cider all day with cookies in the afternoon. Our room was really lovely, with a wonderful fireplace and whirpool tub, and a deck! It was cozy and really relaxing. The staff could not have done more for us. We will return!

This was my first time in the Berkshires, and the Cornell in Lenox made this visit absolutely wonderful. We stayed in a suite-like room with the bedroom up in the gallery and a double pull-out downstairs. There was a kitchen and 2 TVs, which made life much nicer. The breakfast at the Inn was amazing and very different both mornings. The place is beautiful and the staff was very warm and helpful. A couple of notes: 1. The Inn is right off a major roadway, which we could still hear from our window 2. The bed was quite firm and the couch wasn't super comfortable 3. The kitchen was only partially stocked

The Cornell is a great B&B a short distance from the Main Street shops in Lenox. The rooms are very nice and the service is friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the Hannah room, which is 2 floors and includes a fireplace. The breakfast was fantastic every day and had several choices for anyone's appetite or dietary needs.

This place was fine, but nothing else. The breakfast food was good, but the dining room was overcrowded and they were not very quick to replace food. If you came down later on in the service, the buffet was very much 'picked over'. There were tip jars and envelopes left everywhere, despite me finding rubbish from a previous occupant in my room under the bed. Whilst the staff weren't rude by any means, they were not overly friendly for a small inn. There were cookies and cider in the afternoon for example, but no one told us about this: we just happened to find them. To sum up, it was fine but i would not go back.

Nice place, nice owners, good food. We were disappointed that we were told by owner to buy our own firewood for fireplace in our bedroom (especially since we were encouraged at time of booking to book that room for the fireplace). We spent over an hour trying to find firewood in the area because we were unfamiliar with the surrounding area and several places were out. I really think this should have been offered as a courtesy at the B & B.

The manager Lance, his family and staff were very helpful and accomodating to any request we had. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and there was always hot cider, coffee, muffins and cookies for us to enjoy during the afternoon !! And we all enjoyed watching the Patriots defeat the Broncos in the Cornell's Pub!! I will highly recommend the Cornell to my friends and family!!

My wife and I took our first overnight trip to the Berkshires recently. We went midweek after peak season. We were looking for someplace reasonably priced, good location, and clean and functional. The next time we travel to the Berkshires we would be very happy to stay there again.

We stayed here for a little getaway for our first year anniversary and we will definitely be coming back! We were only there for one night and began calling it "home" when we referred to returning to the Cornell each night after our excursions in the Berkshires. The Inn Keeper was the most friendly, accommodating gentleman and the entire staff made us feel like family. We couldn't have asked for more for our stay and what a value! We'll return with our family to stay in a Suite next year for sure!

My friends and I throughly enjoyed our stay, the rooms were clean just as described in the web page. The Inn had just changed ownership and there were a few bugs they need to work out. None of these issues had bearing on how we enjoyed the time there. They neeed to up date their computer system, make a few minor repairs on the grounds and some of the deck furniture should be replaced. We plan to return there next summer.

I usually do not enjoy staying at B&Bs and was a bit hesitant when booking at the Cornell. What I was drawn to was the fact that there were several buildings to choose from when picking a room. The grounds were lovely and the breakfast was outstanding. I would recommend fro anyone who is not sure about B&Bs.

Nothing exquisite about this place, nothing awful either. One piece of advice, the road it is on is quite busy, so if traffic bothers you, book a room in the back of the property. The balcony that came with the "Pat" room was unusable due to the traffic noise. Food is so-so. Lots of sweet sticky things, but if you're looking for something a little healthier, this isn't the place.

I was very impressed by the helpful and positive attitude of the staff. The manager, Lance, is a hard working pleasant gentleman who, when not managing the property, dons a white coat and becomes the chef. In this day and age I think this performance is extraordinary.

I stayed in the Mamie suite which was very spacious with two rooms and 2 baths, only downside was Wifi did not reach to this room. Grounds are well kept and they are working on painting the exterior of the buildings. We sat on the porch each evening enjoying our wine and cheese. Breakfast each morning was plentiful.

Was pleasantly surprised by the room we stayed in, Hannah. Was a terrific rate for a huge room - duplex with lofted bedroom, kitchen and living room. We had come from a few nights in Williamstown where we stayed in much more standard hotel room for the exact same rate (in all fairness, our stay at The Cornell was on a Sunday, so off peak days). Great place to stay ! I highly recommend!

The inn was lovely and met my expectations. The place is a bit shabby, but a great value and preferred alternative to a hotel. While the staff was friendly, none of them introduced themselves or 'welcomed' us as I've become used to while staying at Inns and B&B's. Be aware that while a great breakfast is provided, the pub and dining room are only open on Friday and Saturday nights....that was very disappointing. Also, the mini fridge in my room did not work and we lost food we had stored there.

Except for some needed exterior maintenance, the physical appearance was very good. The room was very spacious and comfortable - we took advantage of a week day special when all rooms are the same price to stay in one of their largest rooms with a king bed; our 1 complaint was that the TV remote did not work properly because of some vague problem with their provide and our multiple requests for assistance from the rather small staff went unfilled. We particularly enjoyed having our own drinks and meal in their extensive outdoor garden/terrace and enjoyed a delightful and ample breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cornell. We were there for the James Taylor concert at Tanglewood in July and found the Cornell to be conveniently located. Our room was on the second floor of the MacDonald House and had a lovely deck which we took full advantage of after the concert. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated although the bathroom was small . For the one night we were there it was perfectly adequate for our needs.. The bed was comfortable and we didn't hear any noise from the other rooms in the building. There is a fabulous deck off the main building which was a great place to enjoy cocktails in the evening and then breakfast the next morning. The staff was very nice. We will definitely stay at the Cornell again. Our only suggestion would be that they offer a shuttle service for guests to and from Tanglewood. It would be a nice value added service for the guests.

This B&B is in a lovely setting. There is a pretty landscape in the back year with different deck levels and a small pond. It is a pleasant place to sit in the afternoon or to eat breakfast. Our room was fine, reasonable space with a small but adequate bath. All was well until breakfast. They serve a "quiche" in a large pan that was cool, rubbery, and tasteless. There was also a doughy pancake mass with sausage. There was also fruit--okay--and a choice of cereals--overall very disappointing. They need a new approach to breakfast! Not up to the standards of most B&Bs.

We arranged a stay at the Cornell for my parents as an anniversary gift to them. Our stay was wonderful. The staff was extremely accomodating and friendly. We have been coming for many years and this year was fantastic. We highly recommend this Inn as a great place to relax and enjoy the Bershires!

Great stay, staff were friendly, rooms were clean. Looking a little tired - the room my parents stayed in the wallpaper was peeling off the walls.

Had a great weekend in the Lenox area...the Cornell was just as good as I had remember

Needs a facelift. Air conditioner not working and though management tried to fix it, to no avail. No other rooms available. Breakfast room is too crowded with tables with the buffet set up - people are getting their food and walking around the tables while others are eating. Nice that we only had to stay one night despite this being high season.

Stayed 2 nights at Cornell Inn in July in the Rachel Room. The Inn is located close to Lenox and all its attractions, within a walkable distance. Breakfast was great with something different on the menu each morning. Enjoyed the lovely courtyard where you can eat you breakfast, read, or enjoy drinks at the end of the day. Kennedy Park is right next door and provides lots of trails for those interested in the outdoors.

Very convenient location. People friendly and trying to please. Our particular room was dark and rather musty. No opportunity to change rooms but would have if possible

We treated our parents to a weekend in the Berkshires which included a two-night stay at the Cornell. The staff and grounds were just lovely and the proximity to Lenox center was a plus.

Excellet B&B experience! Making reservation was easy on-line. Location was ideal for access to area attractions. Upon arrival, our rooms were available and very inviting...even nicer than appeared in on-line photos. Breakfast was outstanding with a variety of freshly baked pastries, freshly cut fruit, cold cereals, potatoes and egg options. Eating available indoors or outside on the spacious deck. Quiet area, off the main road with plenty of convenient parking. I will stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in June. The rooms were nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious - so nice to sit on the deck outside and listen to the waterfall. Lance and the rest of the staff were excellent. The location of the inn was central to everything we wanted to see and do, yet it felt relaxing. We can't wait to return.

We enjoyed a week long stay in Barbara located in the main house of the Cornell. The decor was lovely, service was excellent, breakfast was always delicious. The grounds provided many lovely spots to sit and enjoy afternoon conversation. We enjoyed getting to know Lance Fyfe and his family.

Nice quiet room, but heavily deoderized with strong scent. Breakfast and service were excellent. WiFi connection spotty.

Superb period decor in a relaxed setting at a location close to the major cultural attractions of the Berkshires and the natural beauty of the region.

We usually stay at a place in town when we visit Lenox, but this year it was fully booked so we had to try another place. What luck! The Cornell had a room and we plan to stay there when we visit Lenox in the future. It is an easy walk into town from the Cornell, so the location is still primo. The room was very nice. We could hear people in other rooms, but that's to be expected in such an old inn. The breakfasts were amazing. Loved the gingerbread pancakes the first morning. The service was also outstanding. We were looking for a trail map of Kennedy Park so we could go for a short hike after breakfast. There was no map, so the woman at the desk went online to get one for us. It was unreadable when printed out, and she directed us to a local bike shop to see if they had a good copy, which they did. When we saw her the next morning, turns out she had also gone to get some maps so they'd be available for others. A great experience, and we will definitely go back!

What a find! Lance and his team are truly the best hosts ever. Nothing was too much trouble, a genuine interest in conversation with you, a minefield of information or else willing to find out if they don't already know. Everyone was so friendly we felt a part of the household from the very first minute. Charming, amusing and very easy going. Above and beyond all expectations. Many thanks Lance, especially for the lifts to the Wedding activities we needed to get to. The umbrellas have already been out advertising in our local town due to the unlimited rainfall we are suffering! Cannot recommend highly enough.

The Cornell in Lenox was quaint, the manager was very friendly, the room was excellent. We would definately stay there again!

This is one of the best places I have ever stayed at. Every room is incredible and the atmosphere is so great. There is a nice sitting area outside with a coy pond. Each room has its own theme and I got the chance to see many of them. They are all fantastic. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who is staying in the area. Everything at this place really is outstanding.

Came here for weekend, and it was just like staying ant grandmas house. nice beds, albeit a touch stiff, clean rooms, working AC. Food was good, simple, but delicious. Owner was exceptionally friendly and fed us home made cookies as soon as we walked in the door, very accommodating. Gave us great dinner recommendations and over all friendly guy. I would definitely stay here again.

Several of us took over the inn for a wedding. We had four different rooms. I stayed in the Frances. Each of the rooms were clean and comfortable. And I loved the whirlpool tub. There is a coi pond, and chimenela outside for gathering. Lots of nooks and crannies to hang out, and equally the ability to retreat and hide in our respective rooms.

Lance and Anna were so sweet and helpful. We had such a nice mothers day weekend. Highly recommend the Cornell Inn for a romantic weekend. And there is a state park just down the hill.

Lance and his staff couldn't be more accommodating! We had a big group and needed breakfast an hour earlier than the usual - a delicious and generous breakfast was served daily with a graciousness we all appreciated. A warm reception and continued investment in the quality of our stay was far superior from the many other B&Bs I have experienced in Lenox. I am looking forward to my next stay at the Cornell. Many thanks, Catherine B.

The staff does a great job to help guests enjoy the beautiful town and countryside. Frances Suite is very roomy and has a super bed. Best breakfast!

We've stayed here twice in the last two months because of the great $99/night deal they had on. Each visit was incredibly relaxing, and would have been worth the regular rate. Since it was off season, the inn was quiet, making the stays even nicer. Breakfast was delicious, too, though I'll admit that I missed the bacon from the vegetarian breakfast menu (but appreciate their ethics). The manager, Lance, was there both times as was incredibly helpful in getting us acquainted with the Inn and the area.

The Cornell is a lovely inn in Lenox, MA. The owners are friendly, the food is phenomenal including the breakfast which is home made by the owner/cook. It is included with the room. The grounds are well kept and beautiful complete with a small water fall and a fish pond. The rooms are clean, spacious and antique. The price is very competitive. Overall great stay! My second time and WILL go back.

The Cornell was great. The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast and the staff were beyond what I expected. If there was any negative it was the closeness to the street and the noise from traffic. I'm sure if you have a room facing the back of the building it would be fine.

My husband and I spent one night at the Cornell as a mini-getaway for our anniversary. We know the village of Lenox and have always liked it, but previously have only been there on y trips. The Cornell rooms are charming and the manager, Lance Phyfe, extremely pleasant. We felt welcome and at home, and hope to return soon.

Me and my girlfriend just spent a lovely weekend at the Cornell. Fantastic Value overall, I would recommend staying in one of the rooms closer to the back however as the street is a bit busy in front. Otherwise, great and friendly service. Lance is very efficient and available, and makes a wonderful host. He also cooks up a hearty breakfast. I would definitely stay here again!

The Cornell is better than most other B&Bs in the Berkshires and a fraction of the price. The staff is super friendly and accommodating to all special requests. The rooms are average size for a B&B but very clean. Breakfast is superb with the chef open to any special requests (omelets, eggs benedict...etc.).

We were there celebrating our 25th wedding annniversary. The Room was spacious; the Inn was quiet; the grounds were beautiful; the breakfasts were delicious; and the innkeeper bring us a bottle of Champagne really tooped off our stay. We have stayed in at least 3 other inns in Lenox and this was the nicest!

I was very impressed with the property, beautiful garden, cozy breakfast room. Great selection for breakfast with lots of fresh fruits. I had the Abigail room, the bed was comfortable, the only drawback was the bathroom was tiny! The property was well kept & everyone was very nice. I will definitely come back again

We stayed at the Cornell Inn for just one night for a quick getaway. We loved the location as it is close to the Outlets in Lee, there were several festivals going on in the area, and we loved the setting of the inn.

My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed our stay last weekend. The house was gorgeous and well kept. Michele and Eiran were lovely hosts who were warm and informative. The breakfasts were filling and delicious, especially the cheese and fruit selections! Its in a very convenient location in Lenox right next to a lovely park for hiking. The pub is a great place to cap off a night in town. Ask Michele and Eiran for recommendations of things to do and places to go!

For my husband’s 50th Birthday we stayed at the Cornell Inn – weekend of October 9th, 2010. I have been planning a surprise party for him since April! For several months I was trying to find a B&B that can accommodate a large group of people on 10/10/10 – but it seemed hopeless. Many places were booked ahead of time for weddings, anniversaries, etc. At some point I came across Cornell Inn’s phone number. Immediately, after explaining my problem to Eiran (the manager of the Inn), I found understanding, support and readiness to help. I ended up booking almost the entire Inn for our group. I was in touch with Eiran for almost half a year, seeking his advice for restaurants options and organizational issues. After all, everything exceeded my expectations! When we came back from the surprise dinner party, balloons, champagne, coffee, tea and a wonderful cake made by Michele (Eiran’s wife) were waiting for us. Most of our group stayed for the entire weekend. Everything was perfect: the rooms, the cleanness, comfort and warm atmosphere. Eiran made an upgrade for some of our friend’s rooms without any additional charge. Delicious breakfast (mini egg quiches were amazing !) was served every morning in a very sunny charming breakfast room. It was the one of busiest weekends of the year (Columbus Day), yet in spite of that, Eiran and Michele had time and warm words for all their guests. All our friends enjoyed the experience and had a great weekend. We really felt at home in this B&B. The location is perfect – very close to everything, hiking, kayaking, biking, galleries and charming New England towns. Tanglewood is just around the corner! I highly recommend this B&B, and will come back soon.

We arrived late on a rainy, chilly afternoon and were met by Lisa who welcomed us with hot apple cider and freshly baked zucchini bread which instantly cheered us. She provided us with valuable info about the area as well. Michele's breakfasts the next two days were delicious and offered variety. The breakfast room was not overly formal and relaxing. Our hosts were gracious and room was very inviting.

I love the Cornell. The innkeeper and his wife are lovely people. The room was very nice, well ventilated (we didn't need to use the ac and it's mid July!), and VERY clean. Breakfast was delicious and accompanied with nice conversation with guests and staff. The yard area offers a wonderful spot to sit and relax by a pond. I highly recommend it!

My husband booked us for the weekend to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We had never stayed in a B&B before. We had a wonderful experience. When we checked in Eiran welcomed us and showed us around the facility and to our room. We stayed for 2 nights. The first night we enjoyed a nice evening at Tanglewood and came back and relaxed in the pub chatting with other guests. Breakfast both mornings was nutritious and delicious! We had mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and were surprised with a bottle of champagne in our room. Eiran and Michelle are wonderful hosts and made our first B&B experience so pleasant. We will be back!

My husband and I decided to take a long weekend (July 16-18, 2010) to attend a concert at Tanglewood as part of our 30th wedding anniversary. We were able to book at The Cornell (think we got the last room) at a reasonable price and were also able to book only two nights. Most Inns in the area required a 3 night stay. Eiran, Michelle and Lisa were so friendly and welcoming. They were great about making sure there would be breakfast waiting for us even when we thought our early morning horseback ride would prevent us from making breakfast on time. Breakfast was very good and varied. I especially loved the creme fraiche with french toast. We would go back again in a heartbeat!

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Cornell for a wedding in Lenox. Our room, the Dolly Madison was spacious and the period furniture enhanced the room setting. The grounds were well maintained, as was the inn. The management were very accommodating, pleasant, and knowledgable. The breakfasts were delicious and there was ample variety. The private bath was nice to have. The only concern was that the toilet was too low. A new ADA approved toilet would have been easier to access. It was also nice to have a bar on the premises and the bartender was personable. The Inn was only a short walk into Lenox center and was scenic. I would recommend the Inn , without reservation, and my wife and I would gladly return. Dr. Alan & Harriet Chates

We wanted a perfect place for to celebrate that would be relaxing, with beautiful grounds and welcoming inside in case the weather wasn't perfect. The room we rented actually looked bigger than the photo on the website and the other photos were better than true to form. Eiran and Michelle were perfect hosts and very easy to get along with. Lisa checked us in and she showed us around and got us settled in. After going out to dinner we returned to find chilled champagne, balloons and candy waiting outside our door. Breakfast was yummy and plentiful. We enjoyed our stay and intend to return. Thanks to Eiran and Michelle from Bob and Judi!

I have only wonderful things to say about my stay at the Cornell Inn. The property is lovely, my room was very comfortable and charming, and the proprietors made every effort to insure that I enjoyed my stay. Oh did I mention that the breakfast was delicious. So go and stay with Michele and Eiran Gazit, and Lisa and feel like an honored guest.

We were at the Inn for a wedding on premises. The staff was incredibly generous with time & attention to our needs & desires. The breakfasts included freshly baked fruit breads, muffins, fresh local fruits & vegetables, wonderful teas and coffee (which were available at all times). Local cheeses were presented as well, including goat cheese which is the only cheese I can eat. The wedding was organized wonderfully with the same attention to detail as everything else at the Inn. The staff followed the direction of the wedding couple and the event was just lovely. The staff is more than willing to please and more than capable to do so. Susan G.
