We spent several days at the Carriage House as part of a three-week New England trip. This Inn was the most charming of all we visited and the Innkeepers were especially wonderful. The food is exceptional, the room was clean and pretty, and the grounds are gorgeous. We will visit again soon.

My girlfriend and I spent three nights in April at the Carriage House Inn and wish we could've stayed longer. Jim and Val were amazing hosts. It was our first time at the Cape, so Jim was very helpful in pointing out the best places to visit and restaurants to go to. Val's cooking was unbelievable and was always a great start to each morning. And did we mention our room? Gorgeous room with plenty of space and sunlight. The beautiful amenities and warm hosts will definitely bring us back for our future trips tot he Cape.

Jim and Val are great! My hubby and I stayed one night, WAY off season (February) - we're preparing to move to Cape Cod, and took a night away from the kids to get "chores" done for the move. Jim was waiting at the door as we drove in. If you want to just settle in to your room, he'll let you. But, if you want a ten minute map tour of the Chatham area, complete with shopping, excursion, and restaurant suggestions, he'll do that too! (I recommend the map tour. Jim knows everything!) Fresh cookies, drinks, snacks waiting. A huge selection of DVDs to borrow if you feel like relaxing in your room with a movie (it was winter, after all). The room was absolutely lovely. Well appointed, smartly decorated, clean, cozy, and private. Attention to detail is obvious. Val's breakfast was delicious. Home cooked goodness meets novel presentation. If a Cape Cod B&B is that great in the cold cold winter, I can only imagine how great it is in warmer times! I will tell my family and friends to stay at the Carriage House Inn - it's perfect.

We stayed at the Inn for New years and it was perfect !!! Val and Jim were wonderful hosts !! We've stayed at Inns all over New England and this was deifinitely in our top 3 !!! A short walk to town was so convenient, and the fact that you could see the midnight fireworks perfectly from the Inn was amazing !!! The breakfasts were awesome, all homemade, great variety !! The mimosas New Years day were a very nice touch and were delicious ! ( There were bloody mary's too ) !! We will definitely be back !!

Stayed at Inn for our 25th anniversary. Jim and Val, the hosts/owners went out of their way to make it special. It was our first visit to the Cape, and the Inn and the people were wonderful in every way.

My wife and I took a vacation to Chatham on Cape Cod for our 1st wedding anniversary (Sept. 2013). Needless to say, we were looking for something special to celebrate our first big milestone as a married couple. We looked at many hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts on the Cape before ultimately choosing the Carriage House Inn. We both could not be happier with our decision to stay with Val and Jim (the owners). From the moment we arrived, both Val and Jim were there to help make our anniversary a special experience and ensure that we had everything we needed to make it a pleasant experience. The breakfasts were different and fun every morning, and Val was extremely accommodating to my wife's Gluten/Dairy Allergies. We couldn’t have been more pleased to start out each day there. Jim was kind enough to spend time with us mapping out the local attractions, food establishments, which beaches to go to (as well as avoid) and was always there to answer questions. He even mapped out our entire day trip from Chatham to Provincetown, giving us plenty of great ideas to make our anniversary road trip amazing. The rooms were clean, cozy, and offered much more privacy than your typical B&B. Overall, we can’t say enough positive things about the Carriage House Inn and the owners. We would recommend this B&B to for a first time trip, as well as a return one (we will be returning).

On arriving at the Carriage House Inn, we were warmly greeted by welcoming hosts, Jim and Val. They not only provided us with delicious breakfasts each morning but also useful knowledge of the cape which really personalised our experience. The accommodation was excellent; it was cleaned daily and our room had an en suit bathroom. I would definitely recommend The Carriage House Inn to a friend.

We traveled here with my husband's parents to relax for a few days after our wedding in upstate NY. We were met with smiles and chocolate chip cookies- GREAT, welcoming first impression. Jim gave us an introduction to Chatam and Cape Cod with lots of ideas for day trips and insider tips. The rooms were lovely and had a very cozy and charming feel to them, as did the whole house. Every morning we were spoiled with a wonderful breakfast including fresh juice, fruit, and a mix of savory and sweet home cooked bits; my favorite being the quiche! Bottled water and soft drinks were always on had and free of charge and there were also beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler available for use. As we were newlyweds they even arranged for a bottle of Prosecco our last evening there to celebrate (a very thoughtful touch!). Overall we were quite impressed by this Bed and Breakfast and absolutely loved the hospitality of the owners. We will definitely by staying here on our next visit to Cape Cod!

We stayed at the Carriage House Inn for 2 nights in the main house in July 2013. I had stayed here previously in 2010 with a friend. I had raved so much about it that my husband couldn't wait to go there with me. Jim is amazing -- he is friendly, while not pushy. He was always available to help you with suggestions, reservations, and directions. Val prepared delicious and beautifully presented breakfasts each morning. You could choose to come down when you wanted during a set timeframe and could either sit in the sunroom at your own table or with a group at the dining room table. Snacks and drinks (and Jim's homemade chocolate chip cookies) were available whenever you wanted them. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and very quiet. The inn is in walking distance to downtown, lighthouses, etc. so you don't have to drive. We highly recommend this inn to anyone wanting a wonderful experience.

We arrived a little early and were met at the door by Jim. He took the time to sit with us and give us ideas regarding sites to see and places to have a nice lunch. The Inn and property are just lovely. We stayed in Room 1 in the Main House. It was beautifully decorated and immaculate! The bed was extremely comfortable and the private bath sparkling clean! Val's breakfast each day was homemade and delicious, served in the bright dining area or the sunny porch. We cannot say enough about how very welcoming Val and Jim were. They made us feel like family. Jim's knowledge of the Cape was invaluable. He gave us wonderful ideas of what to see and do during our stay. We will recommend The Carriage House Inn to everyone and plan to return there ourselves!

Everything was perfect! We were greeted warmly upon arrival, given the tour which included a thorough summary of the best of Chatham. The room was lovely with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The breakfast was outstanding and a real gourmet treat. The owners made us feel like family. We will be back!

Carriage House has it all: convenient location, cozy, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts and warm, genuine hospitality. From Jim's expert sightseeing and dining advice to Val's delicious breakfasts, staying here is a delight. I can't wait to return.

Stayed in Cottage 5, 6/18 for 4 nights. From the moment we drove in, Jim was greeting us by name and home location. Everything was ready and the Innkeepers, Val and Jim go above and beyond to make your stay the best. The Inn is clean and up to date. Treats in the afternoon, water and service A+. Val's breakfasts are different each day and very nice. Jim will sit with you with his knowledge and maps to get you set for your adventures. Just cannot say enough to make you want to stay here, wonderful, friendly, clean and of course no pets was good for us.. You won't be disappointed with a reservation here. Pensacola FL

There are nothing but superlatives for Val and Jim and their Carriage House Inn at Chatham. The lodging and house are clean, beautiful and very comfortable. Val does a top-notch job on breakfast. Jim is a font of knowledge about almost anything on the Cape from tours to off-the-beaten-path scenic wonders. We have been to the Carriage House twice and will return again. Extraordinary hospitality. Great value. Superb innkeepers.

We had a fantastic time at the Carriage House Inn. We stayed for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with friendly smiles. Jim and Val were so sweet and did an incredible job making our stay perfect. Their Inn is so neat and cozy. We felt right at home. The bedroom is spacious with comfortable beds and nice-sized bathroom. Fridge in our room was a plus. Sodas, water, snacks, and Jim’s homemade chocolate chip cookies are also complementary daily. Jim also clued me into the 2 beers left in the fridge from the previous guests which we helped ourselves to. When we arrived, Jim sat down with us and marked up a map of the cape of places to check out. He tailored his suggestions to our interests and also added many of his favorites spots to check out. My significant other loves photography so we wanted to check out lighthouses and great sights, and Jim pointed us the way to many great overlooks. He even called to make a reservation for us at the Impudent Oyster where we had a fantastic romantic dinner on our second night. On our first night we went to the dock and ate freshly caught cod and scallops ---very delicious! Then we spent the rest of our evening walking along the sand to what ended up being our own private beach next to a lighthouse, where we opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed each other’s company until dusk. On our second day, we drove up the national seashore to Provincetown (per Jim’s suggestion) where we also saw many great sights. If we had more time we would have done whale watching or took a ferry to Martha’s vineyard or Nantucket. We will do that next time. Oh, and can’t forget to comment on Val’s breakfast – it was phenomenal.

After decades of travel both domestically and internationally, for my wife and I it boils down to people - how genuine, professional, and reliable are they. Val & Jim Mellett have done a marvelous job in creating an environment that is both beautiful and welcoming. The Inn is pleasing on every level: decor, cleanliness, and charm. Val & Jim are warm, helpful, and create a truly enjoyable experience. Their input regarding restaurants and sightseeing was invaluable, which added to the experience. If we're ever in Cape Cod again, we will definitely be at the Carriage House Inn in Chatham. Ed & Pam San Diego

Have been coming to Chatham for years. Loved the Inn for a quick weekend visit. Jim and Val made us feel right at home and accomodated all of our needs. I especially love the location. It allowed me to take my morning walks all along the beautiful shore road, through town, before few are awake, and up Old Harbor. I felt great afterwards and had time to spare for the great breakfast and afternoon cookies....YUM!! Thanks again for making our stay wonderful and relaxing...Only wish we booked 4 nights instead of 2...see you in August with the kids I hope!! Hugs - L & D from CT

Jim and Val are wonderful Innkeepers! They made us feel right at home and were right there with advice. The room we stayed at was in the carriage house with a fireplace and it was lovely. Everything about the room and bathroom was crisp and clean. And yes it's true, Val makes a wonderful homemade breakfast! Although I'd rather keep this place to myself for future visits, I'd definitely recommend to anyone and everyone! Thanks Jim and Val!

We can't say enough about this Inn. From the moment you are greeted at the door there is a sence of comfort and warmth, not to mention this place is immaculate! Linens are high quality and smell great. Shower had great water pressure. Full breakfast was amazing. Pictures show how tastefully this Inn has been decorated, what you don't see is the beautiful grounds, just like out of a story book! Highly recommended to those who appreciate every detail. just stayed at the Carriage House Inn last weekend and had a wonderful time. our hosts, paula and tim, are friendly upbeat people who know exactly what their guests need. we stayed in room 6 which was comfortable and clean, had its own bathroom- (shower stall, no tub), a cozy switch operated fireplace, and flat screen tv with dvd player. an absolutely charming B&B and we will be back here if we're ever in the area again!

This was our fourth visit to the Carriage House Inn and every visit was excellent, but this weekends visit was exceptional !! Paula and Tim's hospitality was superb and full course breakfast was delicious. The Carriage House room that we stayed in was beautifully remodeled. The restaurants and day trips that Paula suggested (complete with directions) were perfect. Thank you for making my birthday the best ever !! Before I left, I also booked the same gorgeous room for my daughter and her husband for their first wedding anniversary in June. Tim and Paula's "Carriage House Inn" is a perfect ten!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage House Inn for a few days on our honeymoon. The room was lovely and private and immaculate. I am only 5 ft. tall and had a hard time getting up into the bed so Paula went out and found me the bed stairs. The breakfasts were wonderful, they recommended restaurants for dinner and made our reservations, great cookies. Our last evening we found a bottle of wine chilling in our bedroom. Truly a delight to be there.

Cozy, delightful, friendly and Exceptionally clean are just a few words that express our stay recently at the Carriage House Inn. This was the first time we stayed at the Carriage House and the room was very cozy and exceptional clean. I can't say enough good things about the innkeepers...Paula made a great choice in dinner reservations for us upon our arrival. She is a sweatheart and goes out of her way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. Tim on the other hand is a fabulous cook. The two breakfasts we had were absolutley delicious and pleasing to the eye. This stay was so delightful we will be coming back in September and I am so looking forward to it. Thank you Paula and Tim for a memorable stay.

I stayed at this B&B with my husband who had never stayed at a B&B before. We stayed in room 6 in the carriage house which had a fireplace and a great 4 poster bed. My husband was nervous because he thought we were going to stay in someone's house in their "spare" bedroom. Needless to say he really enjoyed his first B&B experience. The next morning he was even more surprised to be served a full breakfast. It was a great first time experience!
