Barrow House B&B did an outstanding job of combining the quiet southern retreat with all of the modern anemitites I needed for my weekend attending The Writing Symposium in St. Francisville. Ms. Shirley and her son Chris, did a wonderful job of making sure I was attended to and snuggled into a nice warm comfortable bed each night. The Rose Room was such a delight! I loved sleeping in a teester bed! Oh my, can't wait until next year when I shall return! Patricia Landry Settoon

A very relaxing place to stay. Much like visiting an old friend's home.

This was the perfect suite for 3 to stay in, very roomy with the parlor sitting area. The shower was the only inconvenience for the elderly person in our party since it is in a stand alone tub with a circular curtains. Stepping into the tub was a bit tricky! It is very quiet & we slept wonderful!

The owners of the Barrow House were extremely helpful. They made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were able to share the history of the town, as well as, information about what we should do during our stay. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was great. My husband loved their selection of movies. We will definitely be coming back.

The Empire Suite was amazing for my husband, daughter and myself. My daughter loved the bears and fell in love with Ms. Shirley. The breakfast was perfection. Shirley was informed about every aspect of the area. I just loved eating breakfast with tourists from all over the USA and Thailand to boot! We will recommend the Barrow House to everyone looking for a relaxed, wonderful getaway.

Our room was beautiful, clean, spacious, lacking for nothing in amenities, and very historically appealing--I felt like Scarlett waking up at Tara! Shirley was a treasure in relating historic vignettes about the house and the town's history; and her breakfasts were exquisite!

Barrow House is an absolute delight. Shirley is a terrific host and has thought of everything you need for a delightful stay. The rooms are beautiful, the refrigerator stocked. Combine that with the best eggs Benedict in the world and you have a e winner. Shirley knows the area and can guide you to the best places and some hidden treasures. Can't say enough positive things about the barrow house

We recently stayed at the Barrow House Inn for a weekend getaway. We had wanted one of the suites but all were booked, and this was the only weekend we had available. There was a scheduling snafu with the website but Chris emailed within 12 hours or so. The only room left was the Rose Room, which actually turned out just fine. It was bigger than I expected and the bathroom was also spacious. It had a tub/shower with a shower curtain, which is not always the case when traveling, and very welcome after days walking around in the hot South! All the antiques in the room and parlor were beautiful. Breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted great. Perfectly poached eggs for everyone at the table (definitely get the egg breakfast for an extra $5). The only issues were a puppy that barked ALL NIGHT LONG a couple of houses down on the side we were facing (totally not within Barrow House Inn's control and I am sure the owners are well aware of the puppy barking so speaking to them would do nothing. It sounded very young so hopefully it won't be an issue for long. It was just a sad & lonely puppy. The second night we put Pandora on and that did help) and the bed was smaller than we were used to. I think it was a full or double. High (antique bed, very beautiful) & not very wide, which is only a problem if you have a blanket hog who also tosses & turns a lot. They have just about anything you could possibly need if you have forgotten something, and a little common fridge if you needed to store anything or buy a soda. As others have mentioned, there are no keys in the main house, but I do believe either Shirley or Chris are there at all times and it is a very low crime tiny town. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the sites within walking distance. It is on a street lined with beautiful houses to look at, so definitely take a stroll.

Baton Rouge, LA (BTR-Baton Rouge Metro Ryan Fla.) 25 miles
From New Orleans: Take I-10 into Baton Rouge. Near the Mississippi River bridge, you will come to the I-10 and 110 North split. Take 110 N. Then take Exit 8-C to Natchez, the very last exit off 110 N to Highway 61. Drive about 25 miles and then come to a stop light on the outskirts of the town. Turn left at this stop light onto Commerce Street. In about a mile, you will reach another stop light (the only stop light in the town itself). Turn left onto Ferdinand (the main street in the historic district) and drive for about 3/4 mile until you see our courthouse on your left. Barrow House Inn is directly behind the courthouse on Royal Street, so you can turn left before or after the courthouse. The inn is a large white house with a dark green sign in front.
