Our room was beautiful, clean, spacious, lacking for nothing in amenities, and very historically appealing--I felt like Scarlett waking up at Tara! Shirley was a treasure in relating historic vignettes about the house and the town's history; and her breakfasts were exquisite!

Barrow House is an absolute delight. Shirley is a terrific host and has thought of everything you need for a delightful stay. The rooms are beautiful, the refrigerator stocked. Combine that with the best eggs Benedict in the world and you have a e winner. Shirley knows the area and can guide you to the best places and some hidden treasures. Can't say enough positive things about the barrow house

We recently stayed at the Barrow House Inn for a weekend getaway. We had wanted one of the suites but all were booked, and this was the only weekend we had available. There was a scheduling snafu with the website but Chris emailed within 12 hours or so. The only room left was the Rose Room, which actually turned out just fine. It was bigger than I expected and the bathroom was also spacious. It had a tub/shower with a shower curtain, which is not always the case when traveling, and very welcome after days walking around in the hot South! All the antiques in the room and parlor were beautiful. Breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted great. Perfectly poached eggs for everyone at the table (definitely get the egg breakfast for an extra $5). The only issues were a puppy that barked ALL NIGHT LONG a couple of houses down on the side we were facing (totally not within Barrow House Inn's control and I am sure the owners are well aware of the puppy barking so speaking to them would do nothing. It sounded very young so hopefully it won't be an issue for long. It was just a sad & lonely puppy. The second night we put Pandora on and that did help) and the bed was smaller than we were used to. I think it was a full or double. High (antique bed, very beautiful) & not very wide, which is only a problem if you have a blanket hog who also tosses & turns a lot. They have just about anything you could possibly need if you have forgotten something, and a little common fridge if you needed to store anything or buy a soda. As others have mentioned, there are no keys in the main house, but I do believe either Shirley or Chris are there at all times and it is a very low crime tiny town. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the sites within walking distance. It is on a street lined with beautiful houses to look at, so definitely take a stroll.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Barrow house for his birthday. The BnB was nice, clean, comfortable beds, and Shirley and Chris were gracious friendly hosts. The inn was much closer to everything in town than we expected, and we could walk to all the restaurants and shops. I only had two complaints, and they are kind of nitpicky: one was that the first night when Chris showed us to our room he asked us to pick out our breakfast for the morning. The check box paper said the egg breakfast choices were an extra $5 each, but it was scratched out and he told us not to worry about the cost. So we assumed that meant the cost was included, but it was not included, so at check out we owed an extra $10 for breakfast each morning. I think it's tacky when a self professed BnB charges for breakfast, and I felt a little tricked about the way that they charged for it after we were told not to worry about it. Also on the last morning we were there they removed all the towels and linens from our room while we were at breakfast; sheets, towels, and hand towels. We had not stayed gone past checkout time, it wasn't even 10am when we got back from breakfast. Overall it was a nice stay, and probably one of the better places in St Francisville.

We were staying in St Francisville for my daughters wedding. Our suite was beautiful and well cared for. The family took plenty of time to share local history and advice on local restaurants to enjoy, We will definitely stay here in the future and would recommend it to anyone staying in this beautiful southern town.

We stayed in the Printers Cottage and Shirley and Chris are the best of host. They make sure you have everything you need to be comfortable and are a wealth of knowledge about the area attractions. You can't go wrong staying here in either home with them.

Baton Rouge, LA (BTR-Baton Rouge Metro Ryan Fla.) 25 miles
From New Orleans: Take I-10 into Baton Rouge. Near the Mississippi River bridge, you will come to the I-10 and 110 North split. Take 110 N. Then take Exit 8-C to Natchez, the very last exit off 110 N to Highway 61. Drive about 25 miles and then come to a stop light on the outskirts of the town. Turn left at this stop light onto Commerce Street. In about a mile, you will reach another stop light (the only stop light in the town itself). Turn left onto Ferdinand (the main street in the historic district) and drive for about 3/4 mile until you see our courthouse on your left. Barrow House Inn is directly behind the courthouse on Royal Street, so you can turn left before or after the courthouse. The inn is a large white house with a dark green sign in front.
