Royal Street Courtyard

  • Inn Details

You're greeted with stately columns and regal galleries. Inside, the charm of antebellum New Orleans surrounds you. This grand Greek Revival house of the 1850's exudes both the elegance and decadence of old Creole Louisiana. With soaring 14-foot ceilings and intricate, hand-crafted cypress trim, your room is a respite from the bustle of the street. Some feature 4-poster king beds, others queen and full sized beds. All have private baths. An intimate courtyard invites you to relax in our soothing spa surrounded by tropical greenery and yet you're close to the action. Just six blocks from the French Quarter, a 15 minute stroll to the non-stop energy of Bourbon Street. Fine restaurants, famous jazz clubs and sidewalk cafes are literally a short walk from our front door. Royal Street Courtyard, where you're at home in New Orleans.

    Airport

    • Directions to property:
Directions from New Orleans International Airport: Take I-10 East into New Orleans. Stay in the left most lane and continue onto I-610 East to Slidell. Take exit 3, and turn right onto Elysian Fields. Continue for approximately 2 miles and turn left onto Dauphine Street. Go three blocks to the first stop sign and take a right onto Spain Street. Proceed one block to Royal Street where we are on the corner of Royal and Spain Streets. Parking is free and plentiful and on-street! (Unbelievably, half the taxi drivers at the airport do not know the streets of the French Quarter-- even with a million tourists a month heading there. So be prepared to direct them.) I suggest calling a New Orleans based cab company, United Cab. They sit at a cab stand across the street from the Airport. Call them at (504) 522-9771 and they will drive around and pick you up relatively quickly. They will know the way...

My friend and I had never been to New Orleans before and this was the perfect place to stay. Philip and David gave us all the best advice and were so so welcoming. The house is a wonderful old style New Orleans house including four poster beds! It is very central just off Frenchmen street were all the jazz is.

What is special about Royal Street Courtyard is not only the lovely house, rooms, food and amenities but the exceptionally friendly and helpful hosts. They had excellent recommendations for restaurants and venues. In addition, they were welcoming and accommodating. Would highly recommend Royal Street Courtyard. Thanks Phillip and David!

We have stayed in quite a few B&B's and the Royal Courtyard is our favorite! The breakfast was continental with delicious coffee. The room was beautiful and the location is a outside the French Quarter, so it was nice and quiet, but a quick walk and you are in the middle of shops, jazz clubs and bars. Phillip and David are the most amazing hosts we've ever encountered at a B&B. David told us great stories of New Orleans post Katrina. Phillip gave us a map marked with restaurants and jazz clubs that we would have never found on our own and were the true New Orleans, not just the craziness of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. We are going to visit New Orleans again and will only stay at Royal Street.

This B&B makes our trips to New Orleans feel like visiting friends

this was our second time staying at the Royal Courtyard. Philip is an amazing host - and thinks of everything. THe rooms are comfortable and well kept, the location is great - especially for those who want to spend time taking in Frenchman Street and the city's charms without being overwhelmed by the noise of Bourbon Street.

    Wonderful B & B experience

My wife and I have stayed in over a dozen bed and breakfasts over the years but this was by far our favorite overall experience. The Inn is in a perfect location. Just close enough to everything you want to do, but far enough away that you can still come back and relax away from the madness of the quarter. That's not even the best part. The owner, Phillip, is one of the most accommodating, caring, and friendly proprietors we have ever had the privilege of staying with. Not only did he take the time to personally mark up a map of the city and give us a 20 minute orientation of things to do, he also was kind enough to call me on my cell on the way down to warn me about a huge wreck on the bridge coming into town. I could go on, but I will keep it short. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend RSC to anyone traveling to New Orleans.
