The HH Whitney House - A Bed & Breakfast on the Historic Esplanade invites you to Experience Southern Hospitality and Old World Charm in this circa 1865 Italianate Beauty.
The centerpiece of the home is the triple-archway suspended over the double-parlor and solarium. This focal point is the ideal spot for your wedding or commitment ceremony.
Experience the grandeur of a bygone era the moment you step into the exquisite double parlor at the HH Whitney House.
A birds' eye view of the pool and hot tub as seen from the Garden Suite's large balcony overlooking the tropical garden.
The dining table at the HH Whitney House is the perfect place to start your day, visiting with other guests, sharing stories, planning your day's outings, all while enjoying a hearty home-cooked breakfast.
Guests in the Solarium Suite may relax on the gallery which overlooks the oak-lined Esplanade. A swing and bistro table and chairs awaits you as you take in all the activity below.
Is there a better way to end your day than with a cool refreshing drink in our beautiful pool or hot tub situated in a lush tropical garden?
The alcove just off the Solarium Suite's parlor cradles the queen bed and allows light to fill the space from five windows with an east-west-southern exposure. Of course, you can always close the drapes if you want to sleep in.
The Solarium Suite at the HH Whitney House offers a spacious private parlor in which you may relax or visit with others in your party.
Guests in the Solarium Suite may bathe in elegance, soaking in an antique clawfoot tub beneath a crystal chandelier.

For families or groups of friends traveling together, the Solarium Suite, Bride's & Groom's Rooms all have adjoining doors as well as separate entrances off the main hallway.
Guests in the Solarium Suite may step thru a window in time and take in the grandeur of the historic Esplanade from their own private gallery.
The Bride's Room may be used as an adjoining bedroom with either the Solarium Suite or the Groom's Room. It does not have its own bath, so if it is rented separately, it must share the home's original hall bath with occupants of the Groom's Room.
Bride's Room - Soft peach pastels highlight the black-iron bed dressed in flowers and draped in lace to please every young lady. This room may be combined with the Solarium Suite to form a deluxe two-bedroom suite or with the Solarium and Groom's Room to form a premium three-bedroom, two-bath suite. The home's original hall bath is just five steps away and features an antique clawfoot tub with shower and a separate water closet. This bath may be shared with occupants of the Bride's Room (door at left) which may be combined with the Groom's Room and/or the Solarium Suite to accommodate up to six guests.
The Groom's Room offers lots of style and character at an affordable price. This masculine-themed room features our Cypress panel door-bed hand-crafted from two doors that once connected this room to the rear portion of the house. The home's original hall bath is just five steps away and features an antique clawfoot tub with shower and a separate water closet. This bath may be shared with occupants of the Bride's Room.
The private hall bath for the Scarlett O'Hara Room is located on the first level, just off the rear staircase that leads to the Scarlett O'Hara bedroom.
Our Scarlett O'Hara Room, featuring Gone with the Wind memorabilia, overlooks the carriageway, garden and pool. The private hall bath is just below the bedroom on the first level.
The original exposed brick chimney in the Garden Suite serves as a room divider between the bath & dressing area and the main sleeping area.

    Not a full southern breakfast!

    April 22, 2013

Glen and Randy are super nice guys. The house is a true southern beauty. The rates were extremely reasonable. There were only two areas that were a slight disappointment. First our bedroom door didn't shut very well and we never figured out how to lock it, since staying there was a lot like staying with family, that wasn't much of an issue for us, but I could see it being a problem for some people. Our big complaint, which in their defense we never voiced , was the promise of a "FULL SOUTHERN BREAKFAST" While breakfast was home cooked every day, it was not a traditional southern breakfast like I grew up with. No biscuits and gravy ,no bacon or sausage, we only grits once and portions were quite small. I would recommend staying here as long as you plan on going out for the southern breakfast experience. Great Location and Great Price

    March 25, 2013

The proximity to everything was great. We walked most places and enjoyed exploring the area. The house is nice and the owners do a good job keeping it clean and welcoming. We had the room that had a shared bathroom but it wasn't an issue...most rooms do have private restrooms.

Great hosts/building/grounds a little far from the French Quarter

    March 19, 2013

A totally positive experience.. Warned about the neighbourhood at night, so we took public transport back after dark.

    SOOO Loved it!

    March 14, 2013

I was in NOLA for a conference and then to vacation with my husband. This place was within walking distance of the French Quarter but was nicely tucked away from the crazy. I stayed in the Solarium Room, which was so very luxurious! We loved sitting on our own balcony overlooking the street, having a good soak in the one-person footed tub while staring at the chandelier, and having a quiet night in the HOT! hot tub (it was still too chilly for the pool). The owners are lovely to chat with and make an amazing breakfast! The price was a little steep for what I would pay out-of-pocket, but it was the same price my company was willing to pay for at the conference hotel, so I chose to put my money into the local economy instead of a faceless corporation. Because of this, I got more than my money would have paid for at the hotel, including: breakfast (wonderful!), free internet, free parking, the hot tub/pool area surrounded in a private backyard full of plant-life, excellent suggestions for restaurants, snacks whenever I needed them, and the joy of meeting my hosts. Definitely would come back! Oh, and I will always book directly through the B&B's website - this website takes 20% commission away from the owners if you book through here!

    Beautiful House & Great Hosts

    March 11, 2013

I had an amazing stay at the HH Whitney house. I stayed in the solarium room, which was really nice. It has a separate bedroom, a large sitting area with large balcony, and a nice bathroom. The craftsmanship of days gone by is evident though out. Beautiful. Glen was a great host. Very helpful. Pointed me in the right direction for great food and jazz.

    Excellent

    March 06, 2013

Pleasantly surprised. Building 1863, decked out in antiques. Owners Randy & Glenn have created wonderful space and great hosts. A very reasonable price for what it is. Thanks for that! Will recommend to friends and family, will definitely stay there again. We didn't partake in the breakfast as we are finicky about our all natural, organic diet. Sincerely Eric & Lisa Kolk Bresselsmith

    Great Stay!

    February 06, 2013

Glen was most hospitable and his home is lovely. Although we only stayed one night, I would not hesitate to return. I can unequivocally say that it was a great B and B. Thanks so much Glen!
