We completely enjoyed our stay at HH Whitney House - the house is beautiful the service is outstanding and Glenn & Randy have wonderful historical stories that they are more than happy to share! Breakfast daily was great and the location is centrally located so we literally walked everywhere and loved it! If you're thinking about staying in New Orleans visit HH Whitney House - you won't be disappointed! See ya'll again - Jason & Yamilette from Texas

House is beautiful, hosts were wonderful, food was delicious, and 10-15 walk (or $5 Uber) to French Quarter.

Excellente adresse! Vous ne serez pas déçu!

What a fantastic place. we were so happy and comfortable staying there we couldn't say enough its indescribable. Its like home, in fact its better then home... we most certainly will be back and we have already recommended this to family and friends, though we did want to keep all to ourselves. Glen, Randy thank you both so much we love you guys, and I'm holding Randy to his word on those smoked ribs. Thank you so much. Randall and Anita

We found the HH Whitney House met all our needs when we visited NOLA for Jazz Fest. When we made the reservation, Glen was prompt with communications about our stay, getting tickets at a discount, our food allergies and more. He let us ship our bag chairs ahead of time and gave us tips for public transportation, cabs, etc. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly. This B&B is the perfect location, about halfway between the Fairgrounds and the French Quarter - both within easy walking distance. Esplanade is a wide boulevard with lots of lovely old homes, a treat to stroll. Honestly, we didn't spend a lot of time at the B&B, but breakfast every morning was superb - both Randy and Glenn, the innkeepers, make a wonderful breakfast. The backyard is fantastic - patio, hot tub, pool and all the lush greenery that is typical of the South, The Southern hospitality was showered on us, We met some interesting and cool people at the B&B as well. We had a great time.

Glen was very accommodating and was always there to help or give advice about where to go around town. We loved the room and the view from the balcony. We would definitely stay there again.

This was our first time staying in a bed and breakfast and I'm not going to lie to you, but i was a bit nervous, especially since its close to the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. I will tell you, if you end up staying at a hotel instead of here you are 100% missing out. I met both owners, Glenn and Randy along with little Randy (little girl). Let me start with the owners. Both owners have unique personalities and completely different from one another but I got to tell you they were both great. Glenn welcomed us the first day and filled us in on the areas to visit and things to do. His daughter was also extremely sweet. A few days later I met Randy and he was delightful and enjoyable to talk to... and drink with. Both were very kind to our group and very informative Now lets talk about the breakfast. I was the only one on my group that enjoyed 2 out of the 3 days of breakfast. Both were delicious. I was expecting to see something similar to what you see for a continental breakfast... not at all. Fresh from scratch they will whip you up a good delicious, stomach filling meal. Don't miss the breakfast, i actually regret missing one of the 3 days we stayed. Lets talk about the Bed part (The house). This house is old, literally it is 151 years old. It has history. I saw some reviews where some reviewers complained about the condition of the house and yes, its a bit old, its not the prettiest house in the area and it has a lot of clutter but it really, really, really has character and charm. The house is huge with plenty of rooms and the bedrooms and bathrooms are clean. We stayed in the Bride and Grooms room which was very enjoyable except for the 2 creepy dolls that stared at me... i have a thing about dolls. Our overall experience was great, the inkeepers were nice, the bathroom and bedroom was clean, the breakfast was great and we had a blast in NOLA. Also, it seemed safe where we were at.

Fabulous mansion with enormous ceilings and old world charm. Bedroom/bathrooms were extremely clean and I felt very much at home during my stay. Glenn was very helpful and had lots of local knowledge. Hotel is in a quiet area and is an easy walking distance from the French Quarter (15-20 mins) and a cheap taxi ride to most other parts of the city. Would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay here again.

We were very impressed with the hospitality we were shown by Glen and Randy. Their home is beautiful and we were very comfortable in our rooms. The Inn is well situated for walking to various parts of the city including the French Quarter.

This was a wonderful place to stay. Glen, one of the owners, was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. He had a map and marked places that we were interested in seeing. He also suggested places to dine while we were there. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here this year and stayed in the Garden Suite. It's a good size room and has a balcony and it's own private bath. The food was great and we enjoyed discussing our adventures over breakfast with the other guests. Although we had a wonderful time, I felt like the property could have been better kept up. The hot tub did not work and we would have liked to have the lights on in the pool in the evening. The pictures must be from a while back. Still a lovely place to stay, though.

I chose to stay here after my girlfriend and her mother had a girls' weekend in NOLA and they stayed at the Whitney house. She had mentioned how quaint and wonderful it was, so I decided to surprise her with a quick, two-day stay at Hh Whitney. Glen and Randy are wonderful hosts! They're very knowledgeable about the area and can give you great recommendations--depending on what you want to do there during your stay. The house is only a short 7-10 min. walk to the French Quarter/Bourbon. Only caveat is that you have to walk under the I-10 bridge which has a large number of homeless individuals there, but that shouldn't deter you from staying there. It's highly encouraged that you not walk back to the Hh Whitney house after a night of partying, but rather just catch a cab home. And here's a tip, if you wait on the corner of Esplanade and Royal and hail a cab headed back the direction to Hh Whitney, the ride will only be about $5. It's a safer alternative than walking back in the dark. We stayed in the Scarlet O'Hara room--which was lovely. We had our own private bathroom, which was down the back staircase, close to the back door of the house. The bed was comfortable, and we slept great every night! And in the morning, they have breakfast ready for you in the downstairs dining room. Sometimes it's omelettes, sometimes it's waffles. If those aren't your thing, they also offer some different cereals or muffins and fruit. During your breakfast, you can talk with Glen--who is usually at the end of the table working on his computer, doing business things--and he can help answer any questions you might have. Hh Whitney House is wonderful, and I fully endorse them as a great place to stay. Great rates, great rooms, great staff, awesome location. Tip: If at any point someone comes up to you and says "Say, I bet you $xx I know where you got those shoes from.." DON'T take the bet. Just reply--"YEP--They're on my feet on xxxxx St. right here in New Orleans!"

The hosts Randy and Glen made us feel right at home. Maria cooks an awesome breakfast every morning and all the guests eat together at a huge dining table. It feels like you are visiting family. The Inn is decorated very awesome with lots of antiques. We would definately stay here again. Leslie and Tim

I recently spent 5 nights at the HH Whitney House and had a wonderful stay. The house is well-situated on the Esplanade close to the French Quarter. I stayed in the Scarlett O'Hara Room for 2 nights and the Groom's Room for 3 nights. Both were comfortable although I preferred the Groom's Room as it was more spacious. A very nice cooked breakfast was provided every morning. The host, Glen, is a New Orleans native and was able to offer plenty of useful information about things to see and do and how to get around. Highly recommended!

We spent four great nights at Whitney House in the Treme. what we expected and more. Glen, Randy etal are great hosts. They provide a very warm and friendly environment. They are laid back and at the same time attentive. This was even while they were preparing for the parade. Whitney is an old gracious home with lots of charm. It served as a great base for enjoying New Orleans and not being in the midst of the French Quarter. Looking forward to the next opportunity to stay here again.

We could not have been happier with our stay at the HH Whitney House on the Historic Esplanade! Glen and Randy were happy to tell us about their city and were fantastic about explaining where things were! Glen made us feel welcome from the beginning and never made us feel like we were a bother. He went out of his way numerous times to make sure we had everything we needed! We will be back!

A charming B&B away from the hustle of the french quarter but close enough to everything you'll want to visit in the city. Glen was a wonderful host and provided great directions and even better breakfasts. We loved our private balcony and suite of rooms, very comfortable.

Interesting place to stay. Very historic house. Very large rooms. Was not to impressed with the bathrooms but still, I would stay again because of the price. It's about a mile and half to get anywhere if you are walking. We enjoyed walking in the daytime but we took taxis at night. We are a lot in New Orleans so walking actually worked out very well. I was not to impressed with the breakfast at the bed and breakfast. Overall, our stay wasn't to bad. The walls are to thin.

The best thing about this B&B is the friendly welcome by the owners and other guests. They serve a great breakfast every morning and are very welcoming and helpful. The house and rooms are nice - not luxury, but homey feeling. The location is a little further away from the French Quarter than is comfortable for always walking, and you have to plan ahead to time the bus right. It also doesn't run very late in the evening so you end up having to take a taxi. But overall this place was a nice stay for our trip.

We recently stayed at the HH Whitney House for two wonderful nights, and had the Solarium Suite upstairs which included the private balcony overlooking Esplanade Avenue, which was great for relaxing and people watching! This B&B is absolutely beautiful, and Glen is a delight and the utmost Host! Did I mention the homemade breakfast each morning? It couldn't have been better! You must visit NOL soon, and opt for this gem for a great experience! I work in the travel industry and highly recommend HH Whitney House! Mike & Stephen Marietta, Georgia

So this was my first visit to New Orlens and I was not familiar with all the neighborhoods. I found it a bit to far from the main sights and not so easy to catch the bus only runs every hour on the weekend so we spent more on can rides that I would have liked. Additionally Glen the host was amazing he made us feel very comfortable and he was soo helpful. The last negative I will make is the place is a bit more runned down than I expected. It could use some updates and repairs the pool was not so enticing as expected and the cotrols to hot tub were not working so not so hot. Again I enjoyed it would recommend it just consider having a car.

Whitney House has just the sort of charm you want in New Orleans, but with a lovely pool in the back. A friendly, welcoming, comfortable place and excellent value. Location is convenient and the homey atmosphere made it a very pleasant stay.

This was our first time in New Orleans or at a Bed & Breakfast for that matter. But our expectations were wildly exceeded. Glen did a fabulous job of making us feel welcomed and more importantly gave us real insight for the "Do's and Dont's" or New Orleans (In terms of places to eat, places to see, and attractions that are worth your time. The Scarlett room we stayed in was enchanting, and the daily breakfast was very, very good. The HH Whitney house is is an unforgettable experience in a an unbelievable city, for a very fair price. We would highly recommend this experience. When we come back to New Orleans it'll be at the HH Whitney House.

We loved staying at HH Whitney House. Our Innkeeper Glenn, and his partner Randall were very accommodating. The home was beautiful, and warm feeling. We stayed in the Solarium Suite and the Bride's Room, which are joined as one suite with a parlor, one bath and two bedrooms. So very comfortable and lovely. Breakfast was always delicious, and thankfully, well balanced, well proportioned meals. The neighborhood is quiet, and the bus that runs up to City Park and down to the edge of the French Quarter (and beyond) is just a block away. There is also a locally owned mini-mart across the street, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but they have just about anything you need.

as a last second thing my friends and I booked this place for WrestleMania in New Orleans. It was by far the best value around. We were able to get 2 rooms on our own floor for a fraction of what we would have paid for that at any hotel. The management was amazing and made perfect recommendations. We would go back.

The H. H. Whitney House is in an excellent location, easy walking distance to the French Quarter and on a bus line. Even before we arrived, we felt well cared for, thanks to the detailed and accurate driving instructions to the B&B. We arrived early, but Glen was very hospitable and then and throughout our stay made us feel very welcome and at home. He's also a great font of knowledge about things to do in New Orleans and the surrounding area and how to get there. Our breakfasts were excellent and kept us well fed most of the day. We definitely would stay at the Whitney House if we visit New Orleans again.

I have been to New Orleans many times and can tell you that the HH Whitney B&B is truly an authentic B&B in New Orleans. Today so many B&B's have shortened the list of ammenities, HH Whitney has not done this. They exceed the experience in respect to a unique breakfast and endless amount of travel tips.. The location is the best. Can bike or hop a bus to city park. City park is a wonderful place to explore with regard to the grounds as well as the New Orleans Art museum. Can walk to the French quarter or the Marighney. Can access the street cars. And if you prefer not to walk, can take a taxi to one of these venues. The host, Glen is a native, a real plus in New Orleans. I would highly recommend HH Whitney. .Kathy. Central Louisiana

This B&B was a longer walk than advertised but the bus service was right across the street. The historic home had a few old home quirks but that is to be expected. They definitely need to fix the sliding room doors since it makes getting to the hall bath difficult in the middle of the night. The hosts were most welcoming and provided food throughout the day. Let them know about your plans and they are happy to accommodate you. I would definitely return to this B&B

To get a true feeling of New Orleans you must stay at a B and B. Nothing gives you that feeling of a place stuck in time and southern comfort like staying in this historical house and stepping onto the streets surrounded by other timeless historical dwellings. My wife and I highly recommend HH Whitney House. It has a friendly warm atmosphere, Glen and Randall go out of their way to make you feel at home plus they serve great food.

My husband and I enjoy staying at B&Bs and usually only go to one once so we can try different places. We go to New Orleans at least once a year. However, after staying at the HH Whitney House - THAT is where we will stay when visiting New Orleans in the future. Randy and Glen are the absolute best hosts we have had at a B&B. True southern hospitality prevails at the Whitney house!

Glen and Randy are outstanding hosts who went far beyond expected innkeeper roles to make my stay enjoyable. I usually stay in hotels, but now, as a single traveler, I am sold on the b&b experience. Breakfast conversations around the big dining room table were both reminiscent of college row house meals and sources of useful dining and sightseeing information. Hanging out in the kitchen with Randy and another guest or two, winding down with a glass of wine after a full day in the city was a memorable pleasure. I look forward to staying there again on my next trip to New Orleans.

Very enjoyable stay. Felt like we were part of the family in this beautiful historic Victorian New Orleans home, on Esplanade. True southern hospitality shown by the innkeepers Glen and Randy. They both went above and bejond to make our stay fun and memorable. Beautiful home outside of French Quarter. Walking distance, during the day, to best attractions. At night, a cab is highly recommended. The owners treat the home as their home vs a Bed and Breakfast business. They are very willing to help and suggest activities. Timing for breakfast is a bit short. If you're a little late, you miss it.

This was a beautiful B&B on Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans which is just a short walk to the French Quarter! I stayed in the Solarium Suite, which was by far the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in at a B&B! It had a gorgeous private balcony looking out on the oak lined esplanade avenue. This was the most romantic room and stay in New Orleans I could have asked for. I will most certainly return again to HH Whitney House!

Glen and Randy are super nice guys. The house is a true southern beauty. The rates were extremely reasonable. There were only two areas that were a slight disappointment. First our bedroom door didn't shut very well and we never figured out how to lock it, since staying there was a lot like staying with family, that wasn't much of an issue for us, but I could see it being a problem for some people. Our big complaint, which in their defense we never voiced , was the promise of a "FULL SOUTHERN BREAKFAST" While breakfast was home cooked every day, it was not a traditional southern breakfast like I grew up with. No biscuits and gravy ,no bacon or sausage, we only grits once and portions were quite small. I would recommend staying here as long as you plan on going out for the southern breakfast experience. I was in NOLA for a conference and then to vacation with my husband. This place was within walking distance of the French Quarter but was nicely tucked away from the crazy. I stayed in the Solarium Room, which was so very luxurious! We loved sitting on our own balcony overlooking the street, having a good soak in the one-person footed tub while staring at the chandelier, and having a quiet night in the HOT! hot tub (it was still too chilly for the pool). The owners are lovely to chat with and make an amazing breakfast! The price was a little steep for what I would pay out-of-pocket, but it was the same price my company was willing to pay for at the conference hotel, so I chose to put my money into the local economy instead of a faceless corporation. Because of this, I got more than my money would have paid for at the hotel, including: breakfast (wonderful!), free internet, free parking, the hot tub/pool area surrounded in a private backyard full of plant-life, excellent suggestions for restaurants, snacks whenever I needed them, and the joy of meeting my hosts. Definitely would come back! Oh, and I will always book directly through the B&B's website - this website takes 20% commission away from the owners if you book through here!

I had an amazing stay at the HH Whitney house. I stayed in the solarium room, which was really nice. It has a separate bedroom, a large sitting area with large balcony, and a nice bathroom. The craftsmanship of days gone by is evident though out. Beautiful. Glen was a great host. Very helpful. Pointed me in the right direction for great food and jazz.

First the positives: The home is very beautiful and historic, and the owners have paid great attention to detail in terms of décor, cleanliness and comfort. The room where we stayed had a very comfortable bed, truly outstanding. The breakfast was tasty, with a croissant sandwich, fresh fruit and coffee, or juice. Both our host and the woman who helps with cooking and cleaning were both very kind and helpful, making us feel comfortable and very much at home. The on-street parking is convenient, right outside the front door, and the home is well marked with a large banner on the fencing in front of the home. The front porch has a nice porch swing which we enjoyed. The home is conveniently located on bus lines which connect to street cars so you can easily access the whole city from the front door. And the French Quarter is a short walk down the street. There is a friendly corner store across the street where you can get a bottle of wine, some beer, snacks, or muscatel in a brown paper bag depending on your interests. The negatives: The door to our room was a pocket door which did not close entirely, leaving us wanting for more privacy. We also noticed that the acoustics were such that we could easily eavesdrop on conversations from the next room, again a privacy issue, and when our neighbors woke early one morning it was more than a nuisance. The home is on a grand boulevard with lovely homes, but in a neighborhood which appears to be in a transitional state – one where you feel quite comfortable in the daylight hours, but where I would think twice about an evening stroll. Whether the neighborhood is on the upswing or deteriorating I could not say.

Loved this B&B. Quiet rooms, great breakfast and a relaxing backyard to recover after a night of indulgence. Will definately stay here again next time in NOLA.

My sister and I stayed for the weekend because we had a wedding to go to on the same street. It was by chance that we found such an amazing place to stay! We shared a bathroom with one other guest, but it was never an inconvenience. The bed was very comfortable. There were complimentary drinks and snacks. You will fall in love with the place. It has so much character and the owners make you feel extremely at home! I wish I could have moved right in! Breakfast was delicious both mornings that we were there. The place was so very clean. I absolutely plan on going back and telling everyone I know!

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the H H Whitney House on our first visit to New Orleans. This grand home has lots of charm and it is situated in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance of the French Quarter. We really enjoyed our daily walks along the historic Esplanade. Guests are invited to relax in the parlor/sitting room on the main floor and the backyard has a pool, hot tub, fountain, and lush vegetation. The house is filled with interesting antiques. There is ample parking on the property. We stayed in the Scarlet O’Hara room. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was ample space for the two of us. Free WiFi access was appreciated. Glen is a perfect host: welcoming, thoughtful, and helpful. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived and he made us feel like special guests. Glen gave us a helpful orientation when we arrived and prepared a city map that included great recommendations of places to eat and visit. Before our trip, we received a detailed email that answered many of our questions and it provided directions from the airport. Breakfast each morning was delicious and well presented. We enjoyed the bottomless cups of tasty coffee. Snacks, bottled water and soda were always available. We enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the other guests and Glen during breakfast. I would not hesitate to recommend H & H Whitney House and hope that we can visit again.

We had rooms for my husband and me as well as our adult son for a long weekend. The rooms were spacious and beautiful. The pool and garden were gorgeous. The breakfast was fantastic. The house itself is well maintained and beautifully furnished and - important for an August weekend in NOLA - the central air worked perfectly. Lots of character and comfort.

Our stay at the H H Whitney House B & B was a wonderful experience for my husband and I. This was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and Glen and Randy the innkeepers really helped make our visit memorable. The pool and hottub were an added bonus in heat of a New Orleans summer. The breakfasts were so good... I just loved the waffles with fruit they were wonderful. If your looking for a quiet location with that feels like home H H Whitney House is a great choice. Thanks Glen and Randy for helping to make our vacation memorable. Scott/Lisa

We loved the New Orleans charm of the HH Whitney in its architecture and furnishings. The pool was relaxing feature for our downtime. We could walk to the French quarter or Bourbon Street, and take an affordable taxi to or from the area. We were on the bus line as well. The trolley was not too far away. We were close enough to our B & B to come back, kick back, and then go out again. Need advice on a restaurant or a taxi cab call? Glen will call or advise. Both restaurants we tried were great--and totally different in price and atmosphere. We loved our three days and want to come back!

My daughter and I had the pleasure of spending the last three nights of our trip to New Orleans at the HH Whitney House in June of 2012. We had been staying at a swanky hotel for five days prior, but decided we wanted to experience the personal touches that only a Bed and Breakfast can offer. We stayed in the Garden Suite which gave us plenty of room to relax and get ready for outings. We were impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the innkeeper Randy. He was ready and willing to provide us with suggestions on things to do around town. We certainly appreciated his advice as it saved us time and helped us to avoid some "not so great" establishments about town. The breakfasts were prepared with great love and eye appeal, and were quite delicious. It was interesting to walk throughout the beautiful home and admire the many old photos and other unique artifacts. Though it is a very elegant home, we immediately felt right "at home" since Randy was so welcoming and cordial. If we ever return to New Orleans, we would most definitely consider staying at the HH Whitney House again. And I know we will refer our traveling friends to this lovely Bed and Breakfast!

Randy made a point to make sure I enjoyed my stay. From the phone call checking on me to see how I was progressing in my travel to the detailed map and brochures to aid in my sight-seeing and the food recommendations...everything was PERFECT! I totally felt like one of the family. The bed in the Bride's Room...oh my! I wanted to take it home! And the breakfasts were amazing! I couldn't have chosen a more perfect place for my stay! Thank you so much!

Truly enjoyed going for a late night swim after strolling streets of New Orleans. Very relaxing atmosphere. Walking distance to bus stop.

it is a really charming B&B, but unfortunately the surrounding it is not at the same level, in particular if you want to walk until the French Quartier.

The HH Whitney House provides its guests with the ultimate in southern hospitality. I recently came to New Orleans for a job interview and stayed at the HH Whitney House for two nights. Although I came to New Orleans alone, I left having made two new friends. Glen and Randy provided me with invaluable asssistance in learning about the city's neighborhoods and in locating a new place to live. They truly go above and beyond for their guests. Regardless of which room you are lucky enough to stay in, you will enjoy every moment of your stay at the HH Whitney House. it is definitely a treat!!!

My wife and I can't thank you enough Glen, Randall and Frank. Upon our arrival we immediately knew we made the "right" choice in staying at your amazingly large B & B house. Frank....your hospitality was off the charts...as well as your delicious homemade gourmet breakfast each morning! We also enjoyed the "no time-limit" jacuzzi & pool...it was peaceful and very clean. We are kinda big kids at heart and like a good secret midnight snack; so it was truly wonderful to enjoy the fresh pastries and refreshing drinks which you make available 24/7. We also give you a big A+ on the room cleanliness, bed comfort and towel/immenities replacement during our 5 day stay. Lastly, thanks on your expert suggestions on music; we enjoyed the blend of sounds and atmoshere on Frenchmen & Chartes. We were able to get a picture with a "great" jazz legend that friday night!! We hope you continue to be a "rare" find; thanks y'all again for all your true southern hospitality. We'll be back! V & C Orange County, CA

The owners made us feel like ROYALTY! This is a beautiful home! We stayed in the Servants Quarter's. The room was SO nice, with plenty of room for us to spread out. The breakfast was so good that I had to ask for the recipe! When we arrived, they sit with us and told us about the city...where to go and what not to miss. Overly helpful! It made the most of our short stay in New Orleans. Would definitely go back!
