About

Balcony Guest House, is a bed and breakfast conveniently located in the Creole Faubourg Marigny. At 2483 Royal Street (Corner of St Roch and Royal) it is only 6 Blocks from the French Quarter. Our guesthouse is the renovated second floor proprietor's home of Schiro’s Grocery. It features comfortable and inviting accommodations (4 Guest Rooms and the Master Suite) with a New Orleans Creole / Caribe feel. The Café and Bar is a popular neighborhood gathering place for our local collection of artists, musicians, and lets just say “personalities”, and offers authentic New Orleans comfort food, knock your socks off cocktails, and great people watching. The Marigny is also home to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, an emerging live music and eclectic restaurant scene of Frenchman Street, and the historic St. Roch Cemetery. A short bike ride and you are at idyllic City Park. There, you can stroll in the botanical gardens, lounge under the infamous “Dueling Oaks”, or lunch at the world renowned New Orleans Museum of Art.

Great overall experience!

4.2 on December 15, 2014

The rooms were small but quaint. We received great service the entire time we were there. The food was delicious, especially the Sunday brunch!!! I would definitely stay here again.

A quiet retreat within walking distance to the fun!

The owner Zak was terrific--helpful and congenial--and we were able to book last minute after realizing that staying on Bourbon Street might not be the wisest choice for a couple who enjoys their rest. The place is about 5 blocks east of Frenchmen St. and within walking distance to the French Quarter. We even walked to City Park from the B&B (3 miles north)! The other guests were pleasant, though we didn't actually see them much and it was nice not to have to worry about a key and instead the doors are password protected. My only complaint would be that the supplied breakfast is pretty boring three days in a row: croissant and a cup of fruit. There is a wonderful breakfast place around the corner: New Orleans Cake Cafe, so consider the money you're saving by staying here instead of in the French quarter and walk around the corner to this gem and eat your breakfast there instead.

Decent, but not enough for repeat business.

The room was nice & suitable. It was in an excellent area a short distance from the French Quarter. We were under the impression that the breakfast would be served hot & made to order. What we received was 4 boxes in our fridge upon our arrival for our 2 day stay. It included a small cup of friut with literally five small cut pieces, a small quiche, croissant & huge cookie. There was a microwave in the room to warm it up. Honestly, it was gross & I'm not a picky eater. One of the reasons we selected this guesthouse was for the nice breakfast, which would save us one meal dining out. Based on this shortcoming, we would not stay here again.

Birthday Weekend

4.0 on November 19, 2014

Great location and entertaining time at the Guest House. We rented all the rooms for a birthday weekend and had plenty of space to congregate. It was a great and centrally located to lots of food and activities yet in a quiet neighborhood

Solid stay, friendly staff

Thank you for making the trip to New Orleans wonderful! We had one hiccup where the rooms weren't ready for hours after they were supposed to be, which was definitely frustrating as we had arrived at 10am, and the rooms weren't ready well after the 3pm check-in time. But other than that, the staff was kind, rooms simple and beautiful, & Bloody Mary's delicious! Thank you for making the overall stay such a delight.

needed this stay to experience the true flavor of New Orleans....

would never had seen this area of New Orleans if we had not booked here......close enough to walk to Frenchman and Decatur plus we walked all the way to Canal St. for our dinner reservation.....great experience......you make this what you want it to be and you will be very happy.

The Silk Road had excellent food and service, their wine selection was great.

A great place to stay, on a bus route and within walking distance to the French Quarter. Zak was very helpful. Great value.

Not even good for one night

You're paying for the welcome cocktail and the breakfast. Room didn't have an iron and there were hairs in the shower. Breakfast starts at 10 or a little later since the bar opens at that time but was good. Was woken up by owner late at night making sure that I checked in when all he has to do was check with the lady at the bar. She walked me to my room when I would have been nice for the owner to do that. Felt uneasy about my stay too. Airport shuttle doesn't go there but fortunately there is a city bus a block away. Renee at the bar was friendly.

Quite, quaint and affordable.

We recently stayed at the Balcony Guesthouse. This is the first time we have stayed at a B&B and just loved it. When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready so we had lunch and a drink at Silk Road, the restaurant downstairs. The food was fabulous. Our room was very comfortable with a queen bed, ensuite, TV and wardrobe. The air-con worked extremely well, thankfully. On our last morning we were leaving early so Chef G cooked up some breakfast for us to take with us, which was very appreciated. The B&B is located a short and safe walk from Frenchman St. We didn't have a car so walked everywhere and although the B&B is not in the centre of town it is an easy walk or short cab ride to the centre of the French Quarter. We would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it to our family and friends.

Would stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Balcony. The staff was super! They went above and beyond to make our stay great. The free drinks at check in was a nice touch. The free breakfasts were the best!!! The area was very safe for New Orleans. Our friends stayed somewhere else; and it was in a very dangerous area compared to our's. J.H. from Alabama
