Judge Porter House Bed and Breakfast

Our weekend stay at the Judge Porter House was very pleasant. The home was charming and the staff was personable. The room was very clean, and breakfast was delicious. It was located conveniently to the historic district.

The detached 2 story Guest House was most private. It had an upstairs loft bedroom readily accessed with a spiral staircase. There was a gas fire place in the sitting area. Full kitchen was nice as well. For people who are trying to get away from people to relax, this was the place to stay.

My fiancee and I stayed here August 11, 2012 and had a wonderful time. Since then we split up for a while. Our stay January 26, 2013 was our first time together since our separation. Thanks again for a wonderful memorable stay. We look forward to another trip

The Judge Porter House is lovely and all that I was told it would be and more. My husband and I came with friends for a pre-Christmas weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. The house is located close to the river so we were able to walk to all of the holiday festivities, shops and restaurants. Best of all, it was easy to get back to our room after a full day on the town. Our room, The Judge Porter Room, was spacious, clean and well appointed with beautiful period furnishings and all the amenities we could want, as was our bathroom. I loved our canopied bed...curling up in the plush bedding and tons of cushy pillows...nice way to end the day. Although we didn't want to leave our comfy bed, we didn't want to miss Charles' breakfast either. This is a full breakfast that would make Paula Deen proud. Charles, our host, was amazing and made us feel so welcome. He told us that they have a lot of repeat guests...in fact, our friends have been going there every year for the past 17 years... now I know why. This was our first visit, but it won't be our last. Truly a relaxing weekend, people were as friendly as it gets, we would not hesitate to return. Very peaceful, laid back community.

This was our second time staying at a B&B in Natchitoches, LA. The first wasn't so pleasant, but this one made up for it and helped provide a lifetime of memories! Upon checking in late, we found that EVERYTHING was in order and beautifully set up. We paid extra to include some wine, chocolate covered strawberries, and roses. When entering the room, our breathe was taken away because it was so much more then we expected! The guest service manager also did an amazing job at helping me to find the right place to stay for what I was iterested in and even suggested and helped to communicate the special package I was wanting added! The Judge Porter House really helped make a special event more memorable. The in keeper and guest service manager were wonderful to deal with!

This was the second time we ever stayed at a B&B and it was the best experience ever. I thought I preferred staying at hotels but the Judge Porter House was like being at home only much better. The food was excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the house is beautiful. Loved every minute of our stay except Sunday morning when we had to leave. We hope to come back very soon.

The inn was in great condition. The location was realy good and all of the inn's amenities excellent.

My wife and I married 10 years ago - we have 5 children between us, so the honeymoon was one night in the Maple Manor B&B in Dallas. We decided to travel to Florida for our first vacation by ourselves, but also take our time getting there, We picked Natchitoches as our first stop on our trip. The Judge Porter House had great online reviews and lived up to and exceeded our expectations. The Romance package of chilled champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries with rose petals strewn on the bed was waiting when my wife opened the door. She didn't know about "the extra touch" I ordered and was overwhelmed by the surprise. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was amazing the next morning - plus our hostesses were extremely attentive and efficient with our total group of eight. It was a perfect way to start our wonderful private time together.

We loved the Judge Porter House! Everything was immaculate and we were served a wonderful breakfast both days we stayed. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking! We can't wait to return during the Christmas Festival of Lights!

We came to Natchitoches for our 35th anniversary. We had never stayed in a B&B before! We were pleasantly surprised with all the accomendations at Judge Porter B&B. The food was great and Jennifer was a wonderful hostess.

We have stayed at other properties in the group (Violet Hill and Queen Anne) and this was among our best stays. Breakfast on both mornings of our stay was wonderful, the house was spotless and the stay was great. We will be visiting this B&B again.

This is our 3rd time to visit Judge Porter House. We love the balcony in the evening after shopping all day on Front Street! The breakfast on Sunday was really good! Thank you for making our anniversary special.

Judge Porter House was a nice place to stay. Being a tech person, you could not use the WiFi but at certain spots around the house. Wanted to set in Parlor and use WiFi and could not. Not sure if I care for the policy of only two drinks (water or soda) per day allowed out of the mini fridge. Had just spent the week at three other B&B's and did not have this restriction. A nickel and dime you situation.

Great B&B, would recommend to all. But next time will stay in a larger suite.

This was our first stay at Judge Porter House, and it won't be our last. The apricot glazed stuffed french toast was awesome, the amenities were great, and the location was ideal.

This being our first time at a B&B, my husband and I had no idea what to expect. After our experience this weekend I must say it would be hard to stay at a hotel if a B&B is available when we travel. The innkeeper was very helpful and friendly, she made us feel at home. It was fun to meet new people, have a romantic weekend, and just RELAX in the beauty of this house. Can't say enough!

Just stayed at this beautiful B&B and loved the facilities. It is nestled in a wonderfully quaint little town and, aside from the loud fraternity house across the street, is very quiet and comfortable. The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring this period home yet incorporating modern conveniences to make anyone's stay most pleasurable. However, be cautioned about your safety if you stay there!!!!! We checked in after hours and learned that our room key fit the front door. Conversely, the key that gained us entry into the front door also fit our room. Upon further reflection, we wondered how that could be done without the key allowing entry into the front door also not equally fitting all other bedroom doors. To our dismay, we learned the next day (after all rooms were cleaned and cleared for new checkins and walk thru by any potential visitors) our room key fit the door for all other rooms in the facility except for one!!!!! Then, we learned that the key envelopes for arriving visitors were kept in a mailbox on the front porch where simply anyone could walk up, open the box, obtain an envelope with a key, gain entry to the facility building and then have free access to most if not all of the rooms!!!! I cannot fathom how this safety measure was overlooked despite their preservation of a historic facility that still uses traditional keys for the doors to preserve the feel of the historical nature involved!!! I have since emailed the management thru their main reservations site about this apparent oversight but have not heard back form anyone. You may want to discuss that with them when you book! Aside from the obvious potential problems inherent from a personal or property safety concern, this is an absolutely wonderful little place to stay!

I want to express my appreciation for your kind words, & my apologies for issues you found disconcerting at our Inn. The security of our guests is paramount & I must thank you for calling my attention to an internal oversight. Each room has a key intended to open the main door of the Inn & the specific room it is assigned too, as it is possible to have 1 key cut to work 2 separate locks. I am grateful; since opening our Inn nearly 15 years ago; this has proven both a safe & convenient way for our guests to gain access to the Inn, & their specific room only. When making additional keys for your room, we inadvertently placed a Master Key on the key ring; allowing you access to an additional 2 rooms. I assure you this problem has been resolved & all keys are correctly identified. I only hope you know this isolated incident was a learning experience for us, & understand we are grateful you brought this to our attention. As we already discussed; you mistakenly used a link requesting information from our tourist center, when attempting to contact us. I assure you, if you had actually emailed us we would have contacted you immediately. Thank you for telling us how to be better for our future guests; I am hopeful this will include you.

We have loved the Judge Porter house for years, even when we lived in Natchitoches. After moving away, we return when we can and always stay here. The house, rooms, grounds, and inkeeper, Jennifer, are all you could want. We look forward to our next stay.

Had a great time at Judge Porters House , but was a little dissapointed in the food in town and the fact that everything closes so much.Hope to be back this year.

Beautiful home. wonderful breakfast. I loved that I could walk to the downtown area to the shops and restaurants. And the walk was so nice because I got to walk by other historic homes and check out the architecture.

the bed in the guest house is a standard bed and the mattress is not very comfortable . the standard bed is kind of small... the refridgerator leaked alot of water on the floor on day number one. Everything else was wonderful.

The 100 year old house was restored to beautiful condition and furnished with antiques that set the perfect atmosphere. The furniture was comfortable, the inn keeper was welcoming and the Christmas decorations were gorgeous. We will definitely be back.

We have now stayed at 3 of your four B&B's. Each stay has been a delightful one with the rooms, breakfast and staff being outstanding. The grounds are exceptional and the atmosphere welcoming and comfortable. We have also met many charming people during our visits. Thanks for the great hospitality!

Celebrating our 51st. annivsersary. Our children surprised us last Dec. with one night (Dec.23) at the Judge Porter House. We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to come back this year and hopefully next year. It has such warmth about it and is decorated so beautiful.

We had a great stay! The room was impeccably clean and the decor was beautiful. The Christmas decorations for the season made the house warm and inviting for our holiday vacation. The breakfast fare was delicious and varied. Our stay was made even more relaxing and enjoyable because Jennifer, the innkeeper, was so friendly and conscientious about ensuring that we were comfortable.

The food and service were impeccable from the outstanding staff at this beautiful and charming place! So quiet. . . The first night I was convinced that I was the only one in the entire house only to awaken the next morning and find the table in the beautiful dining room fully set as the house was filled to capacity!

I spent two nights here and immensely enjoyed my stay the house is gorgeous and private, unfortunately it's close to the train tracts but the trains finish around 1130, the town is delightful and the historical area is close enough to walk to.

We've stayed in several B & B's here in Natchitoches, and this ranks as one of the best. We stayed in the Garden Room with its own first floor private deck and entrance. Lovely gardens and water features make sitting outside most pleasant. The bed and the window treatments are unbelievably gorgeous! The entire house is lovely and immaculately kept. At breakfast, we enjoyed a fresh fruit cup, sour cream grits (yum!) and a baked egg casserole. Can't wait to return!

I higher recommend this bed and breakfast...so much privacy and the room was perfect!!! The care taker was extremely professional and she made sure we were happy and taken care of during our stay.

We stayed at the Judge Porter House September 3-4. It was clean, quiet, and charming. They had several suggestions for local places to visit, which we took, and had a great time in Natchitoches. Also, breakfast was incredible! It definitely exceeded our expectations and we had a great time. Would stay there again.

First time staying at a B&B, and it was great. Will definitely do it again! Can't beat southern hospitality!

I stayed at the House this past weekend. Things were NOT fine. There was a blackout,something the owner told us happened often, and they had no provisions for dealing with it. No flash lights, no emergency lights, 2 candles I found, for the entire house. Worst part was the owner ONLY came to check on us, after hanging up on us and another guest called to say someone had fallen in the dark. The temperature was 94 at 10 pm and the owner thought everyone was over reacting and lied about the rooms being charged to our accounts when we requested to move to another location. The owner's behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. You should also know that while after almost 2 hrs of no ac or lights, they came back on in the main house only. The guest house took another hour plus. We had rooms in both. The final insult was when the owner whined to us that we shouldn't be mad at him because of his lack of preparation or accomodation in the situation, espcially when he tells us it happens often. I will not be returning! If you book, bring your own flashlight, candles, matches and telephone numbers of alternate accomodations. A very sad way to end a weekend.

As always,I wish to begin by offering my sincerest apologies to you for the experiences you expressed within this review. I am shocked at many of the issues you factor as cause for your extreme disatisfaction during your recent stay. However; I would like to comment on what I believe to be a misunderstanding, & to give insight into any misrepresentations of our Inn to all possible future clientele. I am clearly aware there are times we are unable to satisfy every wish of our valued guests... no matter how much we try; even though it is our greatest goal. We are unable to predict the inconvenience of a power failure; a problem with the power company; not the Inn. I do understand the aggravation, & extend a heartfelt apology. I can assure you & all future guests, as part of the necessary requirements to operate a business; we have security lights which are immediately activated the second the power is interrupted. In addition; each room has both a night light which will immediately turn on the moment their is a loss of power, & a flashlight located in the drawer nearest the bed. I can only hope your feelings towards the way you speak of our unprofessionalism was excalated by your displeasure of the power outage. We have the highest appreciation for all our guests, & the extreme honor of welcoming most of those guests back to our properties again, & again. All my best to you & your family. I do hope you return to our charming city, & will one day allow us to hosts your visit. Again, I am terribly sorry for the way you feel; our main motivation is to please our guests.

Our children gave us a gift certificate to the Judge Porter House Bed and Breakfast for Christmas 2010. We recently decided to make our reservations to visit there. It is a very nice Bed and Breakfast and everyone is very friendly. We met some very nice couples during our stay and the breakfasts were delicious.

This is THE place to stay in Natchitoches. The hospitality was exceptional, the room beautiful and comfortable. Nice bed, beautiful gardens. I would like to know who "Miss Betty" is though. By the date on the stone in the garden, I assume it is a pet. I was also curious about the tooth that is in the rosary box. Keep it there, it's mysterious. Thank you for a wonderful experience. The breakfast and opportunity to meet other guest was awesome too. I hope to reuturn someday. Oh, if you could put a pen or pencil next to the Journal note book that would be cool so guest can record their experiences.

We stayed in the Judge Porter House and we really enjoyed it. The home is beautifully furnished and well maintained. The breakfast looked as if they were being featured in a magazine...beautiful presentation. The grounds were beautiful. We stayed in the Garden Room which had a lot of privacy and a private patio on the main floor. We would definantely reccomend this Bed & Breakfast...you will not be disappointed. Elaine and John really loved the complete set up of the house, everything to check in, tour of the rooms, sitting rooms, kitchen and outside garden area and grounds. The area was very quite and parking was spacious. Jennifer did a super job on both breakfasts, was attentive to serving breakfast, explained the meal courses and the other guests engaged in great conversation during the meal. Bathrooms were very clean and house and rooms were nice and cool during the day and night. We highly recommend a stay at the J Porter House!

Four friends came for a meeting in Natchitoches and all stayed at the house. We are mothers and the relaxing atmosphere certainly helped us relax and unwind after the day. Thank you for all the little things that make a difference like the chocolate, the soft drinks, the mints, the chairs on the front porch, etc. I loved my stay and want to send everyone I know!!!!

The Judge Porter feels like home. It is close to excellent restaurants and downtown.

The Judge Porter House is an old home filled with history yet it was light, comfortable and well decorated. The backyard garden was beautiful indicating that the owners had spent a lot of time and money to get to that level. The front porch was a nice addition. The breakfast meals were outstanding and Jennifer made everyone there feel like family. It was a great experience.

Lovely house, excellent breakfast, BUT, it is right across the street from the Kappa Alpha house. Believe me, these are not Southern gentlemen. Filthy language, and LOUD both nights, with "ladies" present. We did not hear anything inside the house, but we love to sit outside The only chairs were on the porch out front (chained down). the back yard was lovely, but no place to sit!

What a pleasant, unexpected surprise! We stayed in the Garden Suite, and it was quiet, warm and,romantic. In fact the whole Porter House, was welcoming,warm yet private. Our Inn Keeper,Jennifer was warm,happy and full of information. I will always want to come and stay at Judge Porter's !!!!

The town was very freindly and the house was out really cool and it was neat to see the decor.the Innkeeper was very very great and the only bad thing is we had to leave before breakfast and I missed the french toast so it looks like we got to go back for another stay. it was a great time.

Ok, I really expected the grounds to look like the picture - this B&B is on a VERY busy street with lots of traffic noise. We sat outside on the upstairs balcony and while it was very pleasant weather wise, the Frat house across the street had music blaring while we were trying to read.

As the grounds of the Judge Porter House & the flowers adorning the gardens are seasonal; we have many things blooming at different times of the year. Even though the gardens may not have mirrored the picture, we have multi-colored Inpatients & Hydrangeas blooming at this time. At times the street may get heavy traffic; it is rare & doesn’t last long, & certainly does not go into the late afternoon. In addition, there is a noise ordinance within the city limits of Natchitoches. If we are ever notified of disturbances to our guests at any time, we gladly correct the problem without hesitation. Your complete satisfaction is our greatest concern. If we have the pleasure of having you as our guest in the future; please simply let us know what you need to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, & we will do our very best to accommodate your wishes.

We stayed in the Judge Porter room on the main floor...it is exquisite! The entire house is very tastefully decorated and not at all overdone. You just feel welcome when you walk in the front door. Our breakfast was wonderful...loved the Judge Porter sundae! We will stay at the Judge Porter House again!

My husband & I celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary while staying at Judge Porter B&B. WOW, what a wonderful place for us to celebrate! It was quiet, private, and lovely. I recommend that when anyone is visiting Natchitoches, La. to stay at Judge Porter House Bed and Breakfast.

The Judge Porter House is beautifully decorated and a very comfortable stay. We stayed in the Garden room, and loved the gardens and the deck overlooking them.

Judge Porter's B&B was awesome,this was my first experience with a Bed And Breakfast, but won't be my last. My whole family stayed there and we immediately want to book a return trip. I personally had the Guest House an all inclusive one bedroom apartment with killer views of the back garden. My daughter had the Garden room with her own outstanding view and access to the garden and we both had small decks with patio chairs. My brother was upstairs in the New Orleans room, and the covered four poster bed was massive even for a guy. The Judge Porter House is a great place to stay and walking distance to Front street. I think the Garden Room is ideal. You have your own private entrance to the garden and a walk path to one of the parking spots. The private deck overlooking the garden was a nice spot to sip a glass of wine and enjoy the evening before heading to the Jacuzzi tub for two. The breakfast was elegant and unique. I'm sure my wife and I will be staying Judge Porter House again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Judge Porterhouse B and B. We stayed in the Guest House, which was well decorated, private, plenty of room with a living area and kitchen. The little porch area off of the back overlooked a beautiful garden with fountains and lots of blooming plants. It made a nice place to sit and have coffee or a cocktain before dinner. The breakfasts were delicious and well-presented. The only big negative surprise was that we had seen nowhere in the literature about the bedroom in the Guest House being up a winding staircase. The bathroom, closet and everythhing else was downstairs, so the climb up the stairs was not expected. But we soon learned to deal with it, and all the positives outweighed that one part. Just not sure everyone who rents the Guest House would be able to climb those stairs. Overall, it was a very nice experience and we would recommend it to friends.

Judge Porter house is lovely. The rooms are beautifully kept and the food is outstanding. We did have some difficulties with the wireless (which they would have helped us with if we had requested) and the TV reception was a bit fuzzy, but we weren't in Natchitoches to watch TV or surf the web anyway. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Jennifer is a wonderful innkeeper--made us feel both right at home and pampered at the same time.

We've never been B & B people, but the Judge Porter House made us re-evaluate. The design of the rooms makes them very private, and the amenities and comfort features were outstanding -- as well as the breakfast. Has to be one of the best in the country.

This was our first stay in a B and B. This was wonderful!!! The food was fabulous. Jennifer made sure all of our needs at JPH were met. The furnishing were lovely and it was a warm, homey atmosphere. We will definitely return for a longer stay.

This was my first experience with a bed and breakfast and it was great! I don't think that we could have picked a better place to spend our 1st wedding anniversary. We were in the garden room and it was very nice and tucked away from the other guests so it was very quiet and relaxing to not have to worry about hearing the other guests. The two person jacuzzi was definitely a big hit and the breakfast was just great. We stayed for two nights and both days that we had breakfast there the breakfast was just delicious. The innkeeper did a great job of taking care of things for us and she was very welcoming and definitely showed that she enjoyed her work which showed in her attitude and just her interaction with all the guests. Would love to stay there again sometime in the future.

Beautiful old house. Loved the porches. No one on the property....except for breakfast. I felt like we were pretty much on our own. Adequate but not very hospitable. True, it was the end of winter but the yard was very unattractive. Hate to sound critical but staying at a B & B I expected a little more.

I would like to give insight into what you thought we may improve upon, as it is our deepest desire to provide both exceptional customer service and an environment which delights all your senses. Our Innkeepers are on cite to prepare our delicious multi-course breakfast and to provide any housekeeping needed to insure your stay is as enjoyable and convenient as possible. However, as indicated when making your reservation and upon checking into the Inn; all any of our valued guests have to do is call our toll free number or pick up our hospitality phone which rings directly to our owner if you need assistance in any way. There is never a time we are not available to service our clientele. Even though our Innkeeper does not live at the property; which many of our guests appreciate, the owner lives two blocks from the Judge Porter House and is always easily reached for any of our guests needs. As for the gardens at the Inn, which are beautifully manicured; the extreme nature of the weather this year has not been kind to any foliage. As we have had many ice storms this year, all properties within areas met with these temperatures are unable to keep things looking as beautiful and flush as we would like. I am deeply sorry for the way you feel concerning your stay with us at the Judge Porter House, and only ask the next time we have the pleasure of hosting your trip to our charming city; you will contact us with any of your needs, and do hope the weather is accommodating for our gardens to meet your approval. We very much want every guest to have a great stay and leave with the wish to return again and again.

The bed and breakfast was a very charming inn. The innkeeper was very sweet and made two wonderful breakfasts and also gave us all the information we needed to help us enjoy our stay. The room was cozy, albeit not a luxury one. The bathroom was clean enough although not overwhelming so. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and the nicest B & B I've seen in Louisiana. What it may have lacked in more upscale amenities, it more than made up for in charm and gracious hospitality. I'd definitely recommend it.

The rooms in this B & B are beautiful with lovely period pieces throughout. The breakfast was tasty, but note that there is only one seating (at 8:30 AM). The timing worked great for us, but one of the couples in our party chose to opt out of breakfast so they could sleep in on the second morning. I think it would be nice if they offered a breakfast tray service or "continental" breakfast option or something for those guests who prefer to sleep in. The location is close to shopping and is a good value for the money. I would recommend Judge Porter House and will stay there again.

The breakfasts were a wonderful surprise (we stayed Friday and Saturday nights). The bed was so soft - it was like sleeping on a cloud. Really enjoyed the location and discovering downtown Natchitoches.

Beautiful house and very convenient to everything. I have stayed here before and will definitely stay again in the future.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! (Dec 20 -22, 2010) We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary. The Garden Room, with its' attached porch, was the perfect room for us. Both mornings we were there, the breakfasts we had were wonderful! The inn keeper was helpful and friendly.

House was beautiful and well kept and the room was large. Without innkeeper present, the little amenities like cookies, hot tea or coffee were missing.

I would like to say, there are only two days a year when an Innkeeper is not at the property to provide services; Thanksgiving and Christmas. When there are guests in house; the Innkeeper prepares a delicious multi-course breakfast. During breakfast; the Innkeeper or a housekeeper restocks any items you may have used in your room the evening before, and performs light cleaning duties. All rooms have coffee makers, where you will find multiple packs of both regular and decaf coffee. We also have a wonderful selection of hot tea packets available on the buffet in the formal dining room for you to enjoy at your leisure. I am hopeful we have the opportunity to have you as our guest in the future; just let me know and I will have some fresh homemade cookies waiting for you and also show you where to find the coffee and tea. Amazingly clean, private, & absolutely lovely. I dropped my earring on the floor & had to crawl beneath the bed in my room. I was expecting to come up dusty, but there was absolutely no dirt/dust! I found my earring with ease. Very warm staff... I could absolutely feel their appreciation for my business. I ended up buying gift certs for my parents' Christmas gift! Very impressed!

My wife and I decided to take this Thanksgiving trip on the spur of the moment. Without much planning we "lucked upon" the Judge Porter House. Jennifer was very freindly and knowlegeable about the area. Being a smoker, the Garden Room was very convenient with its own little deck right outside the door overlooking the well kept garden.

The house was Great! All the Privacy we wanted, walking distance to Front St. and all the Christmas Festival Activities. The jacuzzi tub was a big hit!

Fabulous is all I can say! The Guest house at Judge Porter's house was perfect and the yard was beautiful. We spent time on Front Street shopping, had dinner at Papa's and then sat on the riverfront and looked at all the lights. This trip was fantastic, just what my husband and I were looking for. We hope to return soon!

We loved this beautifully furnished b&b. Jennifer and Miranda, the innkeepers, will make you laugh. Nice big jacuzzi tub/shower with TV above doorway, first time for a TV in bathroom and liked it. Nice breakfast.

Had a great stay. The front room upstairs is a little noisy with the street traffic. The breakfast was the best part of the stay!! Would stay there again.

Stayed one night in the Judge porter room. Loved the TV in the bathroom!

Just a short walk to the Historic shopping district on Front St., this place does not disappoint. Our two night stay in the Guest House was perfect for our anniversary celebration. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts each morning and relaxing days, along with privacy away from the main house in the evenings.

Absolutely wonderful service and a very personable, friendly staff. We enjoyed the good food and relaxation--rooms were wonderful! Thanks again for such a fun weekend in Natchitoches!

This was my first experience staying in a Bed and Breakfast and I truly enjoyed it. The Judge Porter House was highly rated in Southern Living and now I can understand why.

My husband and I have stayed a few times at B & B's and have been disappointed. However, the Judge Porter House was wonderful. The property was very well kept and the furnishing were just beautiful. We stayed in the New Orleans room which was a nice size. No tripping over each other. The rockers on the porch were a nice touch and we took advantage in the evening after dinner. The breakfast was amazing!!!!! We would definitely return as well as recommend The Judge Porter House. Thank you for a great B & B experience!

This was actually the very first time myself or my wife have ever stayed in a Bed and Breakfast. We knew we were going to stay the night in Natchitoches so we looked up Bed and Breakfast stays on the internet and the Judge Porter house stood out. I am skeptical sometimes the internet can make something look better than it actually is but once we checked in, it was just as promised on the internet. We loved the guest house as it was separated from the main house giving you the feel of seclusion and breakfast service was great. I would recommend the Judge Porter house to all of my friends, Thanks for a great stay!

The Judge Porter is the 3rd of 3 bed and breakfasts we have stayed out and it was a beautiful home. We stayed in the Princess Room and it was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the Jennifer was great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Natchitoches at the Judge Porter House. The room was very attractive, and extremely clean--spotless! Breakfast the first day was outstanding (French Toast), and would have been the second day except for a (rare) power outage--so we only got half of the breakfast--which was still great! Service was great also.

when i think of a bed and breakfast i would like to think that i am in a different atmosphere then reality..it is like traveling back in time to be at judge porter's the bedrooms are charming and it gives you a feeling of tranquility.. the beauty of the home and the quaint dining room makes you feel so special.. the coffee is served and then a several course delectable breakfast is served..as in the times past you dont miss the noise of the world with cell phones, tv and the hustle of the real day... thank you judge porter for a peaceful stay....

The innkeeper here and at its sister properties are top-notch, friendly, helpful, and above-all, hospitable (and GREAT cooks!). This is one of the nicest b&b's I've stayed in (which is a lot). I love it here!

We had a great time. We stayed in the New Orleans room and it was beautiful. The bed was really comfortable. I expected to hear other guests in the house but did not even though the house was full. The house is awesome. The walk to down town was fast and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious! This was the last romantic night away for us before my husband deploys. We felt at home, relaxed, and made many memories. Thank you for a lovely time.

My husband and I decided to leave Nacogdoches, TX and come to Natchitoches, LA for a quick nights getaway. We have never stayed at the Judge Porter House but had stayed at two of the other properties owned by the same people and found this home to be just as welcoming, relaxing, and just what we needed. The home is very well kept, very clean, lots of little extras that make it so nice. We will definitely be back again. I loved the rocking chairs on the 2nd floor balcony. Perfect place to drink a Mint Julip and read a book.

We have stayed at the JPH twice now and it is a beautiful home. The innkeeper is great and they provide wonderful service. It is so nice to stay in a wonderful environment. We are a;ready planning our next trip. This is a great place to stay.

I usually make reservations ahead but there are so many B&B's in the area it was hard to choose, so we decided to get there & then just pick one. After a long hot day of sight seeing we drove up to the Judge Porter House. It was the most expense one on my list but absolutely the prettiest. We were tired & for lack of courage to look any further,we decided to stay there. After a phone call & quick look inside we were very glad we did. The check in process was easy & convenient. The rooms are very clean & nicely appointed. The staff was friendly & helpful. The breakfast was delicious. We would definitely return.

This was our second visit to Natchitoches and our first time to stay at a bed and breakfast. Everything exceeded our expectations. Jennifer and Charles are both outstanding and very eager to meet our every need. This is a very beautiful property. We will definitely return again.

The dishes and settings at breakfast were beautiful and the food was fresh, but not amazing. The rooms were filled with nice furnishings and the grounds surrounding the inn were lush and well-maintained. The room was very clean, but the dresser drawers (built-ins in the closet, not a piece of furniture) were moldy-smelling as were the carpeting and rugs. Soap and lotion were provided, but you had to pay $20 for a full size bottle of shampoo if you wanted to use it. VCR tapes available for guest to watch, but no VCRs in the bedrooms.

I was traveling through the area on a long road trip and stayed one night at the Judge Porter House. I happened to be the only guest at the house (it was a Tuesday) and the inn keeper does not reside there. Despite there being no one to greet me, the arrival process was well explained in advance by email, and I felt very welcome. Lights were left on throughout the house and clear instructions were given on where to find beverages, other amenities and local information. In fact, it was great to arrive and immediately relax and enjoy being in this wonderful house alone. I thought it might be creepy being alone in a big old house, but there was no odd noises of any kind. My only suggestion would be that if a guest is going to be alone in the house, it might be helpful to be forewarned of this. It didn't bother me, however. I stayed in the New Orleans room on the 2nd floor. It's one of the smaller rooms, but it was plenty of space for me. It would be plenty of space for a couple if they didn't need a couch or sitting area within the room -- there are plenty of common sitting areas in the house. If someone or a couple prefer to spend more time in their room, one of the larger downstairs rooms may be a better option. The A/C was more than adequate. The TV was small and old, but watching TV wasn't really the point of my stay. The hot water in the shower/tub was a little tempermental, especially in the morning, but manageable. The breakfast was awesome. It was a little embarrassing to have someone make breakfast just for me, but I got over it. :) Breakfast was exactly on time and it was yummy! Coffee was great too. The house is easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. If I'm ever in Natchitoches again, I would definitely stay here again. If I came as a couple, I might choose one of the larger downstairs rooms.

My wife and I were visiting Natchitoches for the first time and decided to stay at the Judge Porter House. We stayed in the New Orleans room (upstairs) and felt right at home. Jennifer (the innkeeper) was incredibly gracious and friendly and made us a great breakfast every morning. We also enjoyed talking with all the other friendly folks who were staying at the JPH. Natchitoches is a quiet, little town with a lot of southern charm. The people really won us over. I don't think we met a mean soul. I recommend visiting the Melrose Plantation where Clementine Hunter lived and worked. The tour is $10 a person but it's very interesting. I also recommend visiting the Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site.

Everything was wonderful..Even though we initially had a problem with the AC, it was handled very professionally and promptly.

We drove into Natchitoches on Friday around 2:00pm and found the Judge Porter House quite easily. It is located a block or so back from the main downtown street, which is quite nice for traffic reasons. The innkeepers had a note with the key placed for us so we could access the interior. After unloading, we walked the beautiful grounds and admired the backyard, and were impressed with the neatness and tidiness of the place. We stayed in the Judge Porter room with a beautiful bed and a nice jacuzzi/shower and bathroom. The next morning we ate breakfast. The innkeeper, Jennifer served us and was very accommodating. The only issues that we had were: 1. Lack of hot water in the early evening on Friday. We wanted to bathe before dinner and were dismayed to find that the hot water tap only emitted slightly lukewarm water (we did have hot water the next morning, however). For the price we paid, I would have expected such a common amenity to be readily available when we needed it. 2. Minimal DVD movie selection. We had a DVD player in the room but the movies offered on the shelf in DVD format were minimal. Aside from this, we enjoyed our stay.

Every aspect of our stay at the Judge Porter House was superior---food excellent, room delightful, bed excellent, delicious breakfast. We were there with two other couples, and we all liked the fact that we had two living areas available plus the front porch available for our use.

We had a lovely evening at Judge Porter House. Natchitoches is a charming town. The Bed and Breakfast fit right into the atmoshere of Natchitoches. The breakfast was a little heavy, but absolutely delicious.

This weekend was a surprise for my honey. We absolutely LOVE Natchitoches. When we arrived at the Judge Porter House she was in absolute amazement at the decor - she kept saying how great this was. The breakfast both days was to die for. Jennifer, our innkeeper, is a doll. She was helpful, courteous, and even offfered to fix me something to my liking since I am a diabetic. I had made some special requests (The Romance Package) and some special liquor that we both like. It was all waiting just as promised. I can't say enough good things - this is what special occassions are all about. Thanks to all the great staff and owners. If you want a special trip made even better stay at The Judge Porter House. They WILL exceed your expectations.

Wonderful--peaceful, charming, just what I needed after a flight.

We stayed in the Garden Room for our honeymoon. The room was lovely, with a wonderful, nice-sized bath and private deck. The grounds are beautiful! Jennifer was wonderful and was able to accomadate my dietary preferences at breakfast. It was also very nice to stay where the kitchen was accessible. This enabled us to store scrumptious deserts in the fridge for late night snacking and use of the microwave enabled us to eat dinner in our room....very romantic. Thank you for a wonderful stay! We will definitely return!

The accommodations were wonderful and the location of the house made it perfect for us to walk to our functions in the Landmark District each night. Outstanding service provided by the Inn Keeper - Jennifer. She went above and beyond to pamper us and made sure we had everything we needed. Without a doubt, we will be back!

This was our first time staying in a b&b. We stayed in the judge porter room downstairs. Large lovely room with jucuzi tub.The breakfast Jennifer served was delicious.Wish I would have tried staying at a B&B before now.I didn't know they could be so nice.

We stayed in the Garden Room. It was beautiful and authentic, though it was a little difficult to get into the high bed with no steps. The bathroom was large and comfortable but the jacuzzi controls were somewhat difficult to manage. But these small matters in no way made our stay less ejoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the hostess was even kind enough to share some of the recipes. We enjoyed a walk around the area viewing the other homes in the neighborhood, shopped at the quaint shops in Natchitoches and enjoyed the plantations on Cane River. Staying at Judge Porter House was the icing on the cake.

We stayed over a weekend for a family wedding. We had a terrific experience.

What a great place to stay. Our room with the deck overlooking the well manicured garden was pretty and very private. The breakfast menu was unique and prepared perfectly. Friendly staff and elegant decor. We will definitely return!

Beautiful home in a pleasant part of town, perfect for walking or biking to downtown restaurants and activities. Rooms, service and dinning were great. Enjoyed lifting the old windows for access to the upstairs porch for morning coffee.

We were very happy with our short stay at the Judge Porter House. A couple of suggestions: 1)we would have enjoyed seeing Steel Magnolias, but had a DVD player in our room and it was available only on VCR, 2) it would be wonderful if you could offer guests a simple alternative, e.g. scrambled eggs, to the high carb, high sugar breakfast that was served. Decaf coffee would also be a welcome alternative to high test 3) it was a bit difficult to get into the high bed. A step stool would be helpful.

The Judge Porter House was beautifully decorated and the furnishings were comfortable and delightful. The two breakfasts were interesting and tasty. It is conveniently located and it's a very pretty building, outside and inside.

I loved the quaint old charm of the Judge Porter House. The breakfast on Saturday was ok, but the pancake did not resemble pancakes, nor did it taste like pancakes. It was very dry like perhaps very dry cornbread. It was supposed to have pecans in it, but they were either chopped extremely fine or were few in quantity because I didn't taste them. A suggestion would be to make plain old pancakes and put coarsely chopped pecans in the batter and perhaps vanilla flavoring or berries. Warm the platter you put the pancakes on in the oven and keep the freshly made pancakes on that warmed platter in the oven until you have enough to serve everyone. Voila! Great pancakes that are warm and tasty. The Sunday brunch was much better. She has that recipe to a T!!! It was very good, seasoned just right, and all of the things on the plate complimented each other. I did not find a thing that would keep me from returning to the Judge Porter House. Our host was kind, helpful, and informative, and I enjoyed it, even though my husband was in Afghanistan and unable to come along for the wedding I attended. Thank You!

After reading your review, I wanted to let you know the ingredients of the Blueberry Pancakes to perhaps give insight into why you may not have noticed a predominant flavor of pecans and should have noticed the berries. The ingredients are: Pancake Mix, Milk, Eggs,Oil, Blueberries, Honey, and Cinnamon. The toppings are: Powdered Sugar, Fresh Blueberries,Whipped Cream, and (Pecans). I am so sorry you were not satisfied with the pancakes and assure you it is our greatest priority for you to enjoy every aspect of your stay. I am hopeful you will return, and ask you let us know so we can do everything possible to insure all breakfast you eat during your next visit meets your approval and taste to your satisfaction. A long weekend get-away was all we needed to rescharge our batteries after a COLD winter. Coming to Natchitoches and the Judge Porter House did the trick. First, upon arriving we found our accomodations beyond our expectations and nature provided a garden of colorful flowers and exotic scents to soothe the soul. Breakfast sealed the deal. It made us want to stay an extra day. Thank you for making our trip filled with such happy memories.

Arrived in town early, but found the house with no problems due to good directions. Checked in later. Was more than we could ask for. Clean and quiet. Comfortable. All necessities in place. Easy access. Very quiet atmosphere at night. Service and food was great!

The Judge Porter House is a beautiful B&B. Our second-floor room (the Princess room) was comfortable, though the bed was high for someone with bad knees and those stairs steep. We should have requested a room on the first floor. The location is very convenient in the historic center of Natchitoches and near the University. The service was friendly, the garden in back is a restful and beautiful place to relax in the afternoon. The apple dish at breakfast needed sugar, but the rolled omelet was good.

This was our second stay at the Judge Porter House and we definitely plan to come again. We would recommend to anyone who needs to get away to a cozy retreat.

My wife and I went to Natchitoches for a romantic get away for our anniversary and decided to stay here after a recommendation from a friend. We would have to say the Judge Porter House certainly exceeded our expectations. We were impressed by the decor throughout the house and although surrounded by such eligant beauty, we still felt quite at home. The breakfast was exceptional and our Inn Keeper was especially gracious. Also, a TV in the bathroom, within view from the jacuzzi, was a nice touch!

My sister and I just returned from a weekend at the Judge Porter House and we loved it! We had the Garden room with its own private balcony/porch and the most beautiful room! Even had a tv in the bathroom with vcr and since the bedroom tv player didn't have a vcr we watched Steel Magnolias in the bathroom! That will tell you how big the bathroom is! And the breakfast we had each morning was excellent. Wish I could take the chef home with me. If I'm ever in Natchitoches again, this is where I will be staying!

Judge porter house exceeded our expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. We stayed in the garden suite. I snooped around before the other guests arrived to look at the other rooms- they were all beautiful but our room was by far the most memorable. Not only was the decor bright and beautiful, it was special. (and I'm sure our nights stay didn't even pay for the trim on the tapestries.) There are no rooms above it, so there is no late night floor creaking. Plus there was an additional entrance from the garden, with a deck. Very private but still seemed very much a part of the rest of the house. We stayed only one night but I could have stayed another just to sit around and look at the decor while sipping from the crystal and relaxing in the tub!

Our weekend at The Judge Porter House was fabulous! This was the perfect place for a girls' weekend in Natchitoches. The house itself is absolutely beautiful, and our accommodations were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and served with such authentic southern hospitality. The Judge Porter house was an amazing bed and breakfast. The home was beautiful to start with but the holiday decorations made it pop even more. The breakfast was delicious. There were several courses so it made it really special. I would highly recommend this B&B for the location, food, cleanliness, and overall comfort.

This place is amazing, nothing short of amazing. The house is elegant and warm, filled with period antiques and accents. The rooms have beautiful appointments, they've thought of everything. THe staff is lovely, helpful and charming, especially the manager, Charles. And after a long day of business meetings, the jacuzzi tub takes all of the stress/strain out of my bones! This place is a must stay, and I would recommend it to anyone who is coming to Natchitoches for business or pleasure. I am planning to bring my husband there some day just b/c he has to see this place!!!

My husband and I recently visited the Judge Porter House & found it to be very comfortable. The home was decorated for the holidays which made it feel cozy & inviting. The mix of old - furnishings, decor, home structure - and new - whirlpool jacuzzi tub w/TV in bathroom (!!) - were in perfect balance. We stayed in the first floor suite which had glaring lights from the porch, but we simply closed the curtains & the problem was eased. A pull-down shade would be nice for that room. Breakfast was tasty & our Innkeeper was just as friendly as she could be with a charming accent :) We had a wonderful time and will certainly visit JPH again soon. Highly Recommend.

I've been to several outstanding b&b and some not so much. Judge Porter House was among the best! Everything from the decor to the bed pillows the linens were outstanding! The breakfast both days was GREAT!! Jennifer was an amazing innkeeper and her personality was a real treat!! Thanks again for a weekend I'll not forget!!

I have been to Natchitoches 7 times and alway stay at a Bed & Breakfast. The Judge Porter House it the best I have ever stayed at. Our room was lovely and the Breakfast was wonderful... I want to go back now... All the little extra touches in the room were greatly appreicated. Our innkeeper Jennifer made out stay more than we could ask for.

Everything was perfect for my mother and I. The house was clean and decorated to perfection for Christmas. The cook was talented and breakfast both days was outstanding and enough to fill you for the entire day. My only complaint is barely a complaint but a wish that the porch lights were not so bright at night. They would shine into our first floor room even with the drapes pinned together. A simple pull down shade would easily solve the problem for people like me who sleep best in complete darkness. Otherwise, we were very pleased with our accommodations and we are very, very particular travelers. Marty in Houston

We had already heard about the great service and Judge Porter house.. so we knew what to expect... but the cleanliness, hospitality and value was tremendous. we will recommend to friends and family and if we can get back, we will stay at the Judge Porter house... loved it? Jennifer was wonderful... thanks, a great vacation for us.

My husband and I stayed last weekend at your bed and breakfast and I can assure you that your innkeeper, Robert, made the weekend. He far exceeded our expectations, from the wonderfully-prepared breakfast to the attention to his speech. What a wonderful asset to your company. It is with great sadness that we learned he will be moving to New Orleans. Furthermore, just to let you know, I hate bread pudding and he informed us that we would be having bread pudding Sunday and assured me that I would love it. He was right. Charming Inn with lovely period furniture. The was very clean and orderly. Excellent location we were able to walk to Front Street and Cane River antique shops and restaurants. Staff very nice, breaksfast served in lovely dining room.
