"The Azure Gate B&B was the highlight of our trip to Arizona in July. Christine and Dennis were warm and welcoming hosts. The breakfasts were amazing, beginning with wonderfully complex aromas wafting from the kitchen and grill and ending with sighs of contentment around the table. We stayed in the charming, colorful, and quiet Santa Ana guest house. We also enjoyed the beautiful guest areas in the main house, especially the library and sunroom. The exquisite use of color in the rooms (and on our plates!) was inspired.
Don’t think that Arizona in the summer should be avoided. The house was cool and the pool was refreshing. We loved walking the grounds to examine several kinds of blooming cacti; getting a brief view of a roadrunner and a Cooper’s hawk; seeing and hearing hummingbirds, white-winged doves, and finches at the feeders; exclaiming at our discoveries of delightful pieces of art in wonderfully surprising places; the faint scent of creosote bush after it rained; and watching thunderclouds build in the afternoon. We are already planning a return visit.
