This Lower Garden District property worked very well for our casual approach, and we would definitely go back. There was no breakfast service, rather full access to the fully equipped kitchen, and supplies from which to prepare our own continental breakfast - a good approach for us.

The place was nice but the neighborhood isn't the best, at all! &the breakfast consisted of a bowl of fruit & 2 boxes of cereal. The room was clean& Its about 7 miles or so from the French quarter which was the best thing about the room. Over priced in my opinion

There was plenty of food, but nothing special about it. It was nice that we were able to serve ourselves.

Our group came to New Orleans for a conference being held at the convention center in May 2011. The location was great with easy access to the restaurants and bars on Magazine St. Transportation downtown was easy and convenient; bus on Magazine and street car on St. Charles. Everyone found the location secure and we had no issues walking where ever we needed. The rooms were very nice, and the unit was very spacious. Juanita was very helpful and made sure we had everything we could need (or want). Look forward to returning.

Once everyone knows about The Duchess, it will be hard to get a room! The Duchess is amazing and Juanita goes the extra mile to make sure guests are comfortable. We loved staying there because the location is slightly off the beat and path, but close enough to everything - the street car, Magazine Street (good food and shopping), the old houses.

Lovely place to stay. This was our first visit to NOLA, and couldn't have been happier with the accommodation. Great location in the Garden District but off the beaten path. 3 easy blocks stroll to all the goodness on Magazine St. The rooms and house are in top shape, clean & cozy & restful. And Juanita the owner is esp helpful if you need anything at all! She kept the fridge stocked and brought fresh pastries one day. But frankly, we almost always ate out so didn't need much there inside - it's New Orleans, so eating out is a given must! Would definitely look them up when we go back again.

I stayed four nights at the Duchess in April 2011 for business travel. Guests were greeted with mimosa on check-in. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet and the proximity to Magazine and St. Charles Streets provides access to great restaurants and transit to downtown. Juanita was an excellent hostess, very personable and responsive to guests' needs. She provided fresh fruits every day, including local strawberries. I highly recommend the Duchess B&B and encourage folks to support local business owners!

The Dutchess made for an absolutely perfect stay! The house is gorgeous, rooms are beautiful and clean, and Ms. Juanita is the most wonderful host! She was so gracious and helpful, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Location was spectacular - beautiful uptown neighborhood, we could walk easily to Magazine and St. Charles. Thank you Juanita for making our first trip to NOLA so memorable!!!

Beautiful B&B, with an exceptional Innkeeper, Juanita. We came to The Duchess for an anniversary getaway and Juanita went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We arrived later than expected and she put us in a room with a king size bed and larger TV. She even went out and got champagne and strawberries. She was like a tour guide herself, as she gave out information and recommendations about the city. Juanita is awesome and I highly recommend her B&B.

I stayed here for the JazzFest. Great location. Took a bus (or streetcar) to the French Quarter, took the bus to the JazzFest, took the bus to the zoo. Met the neighbors, Juanita was helpful and friendly. She also set up a good spread for breakfast. Nice relaxing stay.

We stayed here for a week for the second weekend of jazzfest 2010. Wow! The place is beautiful. The furnishings are high end not your typical hotel furnishings. We were a group of 5 adults so we rented out the entire downstairs. We enjoyed sitting out on the front stoop and meeting our upstairs guests and most of the neighbors came over and introduced themselves. It made us feel like we were locals. Juanita not only made us feel welcome. She went out of her way to take care of us. When she heard one of our group couldn't drink milk; she got lactaid milk and put it in the refrigerator. She arranged for us to go on a tour of NOLA that was so amazing. We went to the restaurants and places where Juanita recommended and were never disappointed. All of this within walking distance of great restaurants and services on Magazine Street. I recommend Joey K's for lunch just up the street. We will definitely be staying here again. We feel like Juanita is a friend for life.
