Only place we will stay in NOLA

5 on June 09, 2016

My girlfriend and I came down to New Orleans for a romantic get away from California. I previously have lived in New Orleans and knew about the Magnolia Mansion. I am truly happy we stayed. It was affordable, and our stay at the Mansion made our trip what it was, incredible. Jack the owner, Colman his business partner, and Tatiana the mansion manager made our stay very personal, and one to never forget. The mansion was clean, beautiful, and elegant. Everything you could imagine and more while wanting to stay in a 1857 New Orleans Mansion. The service we received was the best. We were made to feel like we were the most important people to ever step foot in that mansion. Jack shared with us that he just took ownership of the mansion about 1 month prior to our stay in June 2016. He has big plans for this mansion, including his new traditional Italian Restaurant named Altamura. Our rooms were kept clean, the continental breakfast from Manhattan Jack's (Jacks other restaurant) were incredible. We have already told all our friends and family that it is a must stay if they are planning on going to NOLA. Jack and his staff is has made us a life long customer. Its a perfect get away from the craziness of the French Quarter, and nestled perfectly in the Garden District. You have easy access to the street car line, which the location provides easy access to Uptown, and Downtown easily. Our romantic trip would not have been the same had we stayed anywhere else. It was quite and private, and had amazing service and made a new friend! Thank you Jack and the Magnolia Mansion Staff! We will see you soon!

Will Come Back After Renovation

We had a nice stay in a beautiful place. Owner was GREAT and VERY HELPFUL. There are few suggestions for improvement. Add hangers in the closet, bath tub could have been cleaner, was not able to adjust temp in room, more pillows, staff could have more helpful in suggesting local attractions & restaurants. The front porch and rocking chairs were wonderful. Great location near street car. The breakfast bakery items from Manhanttan Jack's were AWESOME. Can't wait to see remodeling.

More then I ever wanted.

Great staff, a beautiful mansion and very comfortable bed. The mansion makes you feel like you have gone back in time with its beautiful decor. Jack is very personable and friendly. Tatiana is sweet and welcoming. I highly recommend staying here.

Everything I had hoped for!

My husband and I stayed in The Vampire Lovers Lair. The room was everything I had imagined it. Staff was very friendly and addressed me by my name as well as took the time to get to know myself and my husband, what brought us to New Orleans, and if we had ideas of what sort of things we wanted to do while in town. I actually felt like I was a personal guest and not just a customer. Linens were very clean and the mattresses actually have protective covers on them, and not the crappy vinyl ones, actual comfortable cloth ones. While there isn't staff there on a consistent basis, you are given the key to the main gate and front doors, all of which instantly lock, so I felt very safe and secure and liked that everyone could come and go as they pleased even through the night. There were some areas around the hotel that could have used some maintenance, such as some cracked areas on the porch but considering the structure was built in the early to mid 1800's, I don't expect it to be perfect even under pristine care. I absolutely loved every moment of my stay at Magnolia Mansion and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!!

The staff was very friendly, helpful and most of all accommodating. The day we were to leave, we took a tour through the swamp, and the staff allowed us to keep our luggage in the room until we returned - well after the normal check out time. The house is an architectural beauty with so much exquisite detail. My husband who has been a contractor for over 30 yrs. and who has worked on many expensive homes in Los Angeles and Oregon found the detailed workmanship truly extraordinary. The staff was most helpful with giving up tips on some wonderful places to eat, and the best and cheapest ways to travel from the Garden District to the French Quarter. We will definitely be staying there again when we return to New Orleans!!

Vampire Lover's Lair

3.2 on January 04, 2015

We were called before arrival and notified that the room was ready if we wanted to check in early. We were warmly welcomed. Room was as advertised, Vampire Lover's Lair was beautiful. Breakfast, was also as advertised, nothing special. New Orleans is a destination for food and late night entertainment, so I'm not sure if people would come down no matter how good the food was. Security was excellent. One big negative, the television was a ancient tube style with a built in VCR; the VCR did not work. So if watching a movie is in your plans, forget about it.

Something has changed, not was the previous reviews proclaim

The reviews on this site are good for this, but the ones on Yelp tell the real story. This is not a friendly hospitable B&B, it is cold and riddled with rules that carry charges. The room we stayed in was not plush or ornate, it was side room, almost like servants' quarters out the back door. It was decorated like a low rate hotel. The heat did not work, nor did all of the electrical outlets. We had to be moved. The closet was used for storage rather than cleared for guests. The breakfast was a series of pre-packaged sweets from Costco with bread and cereal. The internet did not work consistently and we were told to go down the street to Starbucks if we wanted internet. There was little warmth to the staff outside of the housekeepers. Would never stay there again. Overpriced. We have a lot of experience with B&Bs, this is the worst we have ever experienced.

Satisfied experience

The staff was very kind and friendly. The room we booked was upgraded at no extra charge. We were told it was an outside room and we would be warmer inside the mansion because of the unusual cold weather. Everything was very clean and beautiful. The breakfast was casual eat at your own leisure. Options were yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal or breakfast sandwiches with a lot of choices for sweet breads. It was very comfortable to eat at your own convienence. It was a short walking distance to the trolley that made it nice as well.

Excellent place to stay,
