No matter how long we stay, it is never long enough So say our Cape Cod guests who have come twice yearly for nearly a decade. A Storybook Inn is located on acreage in the historic district of quaint, historic Versailles, but in walking distance to shops and restaurants. (15 minutes from Lexington, close to artsy shops of Midway.) It is so refreshing to find an award winning historic Inn that is fantastically restored and unequivocally gorgeous but at the same time, not pretentious. We use as many local, organic ingredients as possible. Wonderful afternoon snacks. We have a staff that is ready, willing and able to assist you to make your stay more enjoyable. We can assist you with horse farm tours (please call ahead), dinner reservations, and en-suite massages by a professional Massage Therapist (by appointment). Our guest rooms and suite are very tastefully designed after Classic movies and scrupulously clean enough for the most persnickety germaphobe. The Inn is designed to be a delight to the senses with original oil paintings, tasteful furnishings and antiques but sensitive to travelers needs such as free wireless. You will see why our guests regularly tell us things like this recent review: After traveling extensively here in the US and abroad, staying in both small inns as well as top rated hotels, I would rate A Storybook Inn as the best small Inn or Bed and Breakfast I have encountered."

My partner and I travel worldwide, and we use A Storybook Inn as the barometer by which all inns and B&Bs are measured. Elise is incredible. Her thoughtfulness and obvious attention to detail are impeccable. Veronica is a delight! We always know that our stay will be restful - removing the stress of life completely. Thank you and we look forward to yet another return!

We spent three very relaxing nights at The Storybook Inn in late January. We have stayed at many B&B's over the years and this one rates near the top of our list. The property itself and guest accommodations were beautiful and had the historic charm we were looking for. It is very clean and had a very attentive, very friendly yet unobtrusive, staff. The location itself is also perfect. An easy drive to the Bourbon Trail locations, Keeneland and downtown Lexington. The breakfasts were tasty and beautifully presented. I would say this is Inn not to miss!

A Storybook Inn is my husband's and my favorite place to stay. Our first time was this summer for our anniversary. I decided to bring my daughter back for a special girls night. It was perfect. Love everything about the Inn. Delicious breakfast, immaculate rooms and house, hospitality is lovely and love the outdoor kitties! We will be back without a doubt.

Elise was a perfect guide to our stay, perfect in every measure from our arrival to departure. Elise's staff sends hospitality from their hearts to the guests, rare indeed. It was a terrific experience and we shall return. Elise, you blessed us richly.

We had a group of 6 from North Carolina on a bourbon trail, horse farm and basketball game trip and we could not have enjoyed our stay any more. We used the cottage and two of the rooms in the main house and it worked perfectly for us. They were very accommodating (one in our group was gluten free) and the food was out of this world. We will definitely stay again on our next trip. Only complaint we had was they could not help us affect the outcome of the UNC/KY basketball game..........otherwise it was a perfect trip.

From the moment of arrival everything about A Storybook Inn was PERFECT! We choose Kentucky for a short weekend to experience fall foliage. Our room My Fair Lady was so romantic. The restoration of this property was done meticulously with every detail accounted for from design to comfort for the guests. Every afternoon we came back to our room to a fresh baked scumptuous treat, specially made gluten free for me and regular for my husband...thats an example of Elise wanting her guests to feel at home. The homemade breakfasts(by Elise) were the best you can have with organic fresh and only the finest ingredients..all served in the most beautiful sun room, each table individually set to perfection and served with style and grace. Elise(the inn keeper) was intriguing with her stories ...and her grateful attitude started our day with a smile in the most positive way.The location is perfect, close to Bourbon distilleries, horse farms, wonderful restaurants, downtown Lexington and more....So much history in such a beautful area...a must for your stay in the area....We will be back!!

My husband and I so enjoyed our stay in the Gone with the Wind suite. From the delicious chocolate brownies upon our arrival, to the beautifully presented, absolutely delicious breakfasts of Red Pepper and Goat Cheese Frittata, fresh fruit, Pancakes with Orange Glaze garnished with pansies, and the yummy Cranberry spread appetizer delivered one late afternoon - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Just wish we had been there a bit more to enjoy the beautiful grounds and share a glass of wine with our FANTASTIC hosts, Susan and Jim. We will definitely be back!

Prepare to be royally spoiled in every way! Your stay in any of the five rooms will be a lasting memory because A Storybook Inn is "top-drawer" in hospitality, comfort, and superb beauty-everywhere you look. My dearest friend and I stayed in the Somewhere in Time suite which was like living a dream! Such charm, elegance and comfort! Breakfasts are nutritious, varied and a feast for the eyes, too. Elise, Veronica and Grace all made us feel special and welcome with every encounter and the homemade snacks each afternoon were always a treat. We also met Susan and Jim, interim innkeepers who fill in for Elise so she can have a short respite. They are perfect extensions of her with ready smiles, helpful tips and that southern hospitality!
As guests step into this suite, there is a gasp because of the obvious beauty and space in this suite. There is a richness of color and beauty of the sitting room and the "lantern glow" gold of the bedroom. The carpet, rugs, original oil paintings, [one of Vivian Leigh as Scarlett], the luxury bedding, the great views, and SPACE, and the large two person shower in the new bathroom, the walk-in closet with frig, wooden hangers, and thick bathrobes, antique desk, chinz sofa, LUXURY, LUXURY, LUXURY without being fussy. A room that men or women are equally as comfortable in. Rave reviews!

Somewhere In Time is our largest and most luxurious suite. It was the original owner's suite of this grand old house. HUGE is a word that comes to mind. Elegant is another descriptor. Fitting for the mood and feel of this elegant suite, Somewhere In Time has its own private hallway to get to the entrance of this secluded suite in the main house. During the renovation process, we often referred to it our Bridal suite or Presidential suite. And for very good reason! 19-foot long sitting room with original, restored hardwood floor, custom outfitted day bed, custom chairs, writing desk.

I love people. I love pampering people, especially ones that need a reprieve from too much work or just a time away from it all. I have a background in nursing, nutrition, Real Estate, and hospitality. I am gifted in interior design, gardening, and love great conversation. Love to travel and to read. I enjoy creating in the kitchen signature dishes with fresh ingredients. My friends have all commented that all of those traits point to the fact that Innkeeping is the perfect venue for me.
