We booked the entire inn for our wedding ceremony and to house our parents and our bridesmaids. The beauty, tranquility and elegance of the Inn speak for themselves but added to the entire weekend. Eating the amazing breakfasts each morning in the conservatory was absolutely incredible. Waking and meeting our family each morning reminds me of younger days on vacations :). Our hosts for the weekend were Susan and Jim and they couldn't have been any sweeter or more helpful. Grace was also wonderful leading up to the event answering questions etc... We stayed in the Somewhere in Time room and were in heaven the entire weekend. The rest of our family enjoyed their suites in the house and our friends stayed in the guesthouse with their kids and fell in love with it the second they opened the door;they would love to model their retirement home after it. The surroundings are a perfect setting for an intimate wedding. We did NOT want to leave and are already making plans to come back next year for our first year anniversary or even would love an afternoon tea..... Thank you for providing a lovely beginning to our story!

My wife and I left this property yesterday and, while driving back home to Ohio, were talking about nothing but returning. This is a great property and worth an extended stay.

This was our third visit to A Storybook Inn. This time, we were celebrating our daughter's graduation from UK. When I realized I needed to book accommodations for 7 of us for graduation weekend, I didn't even consider anywhere else. I knew the guest house at A Storybook Inn would be perfect - and it was. The guest house is beautifully decorated, the kitchen is fully equipped, the grounds are gorgeous, the service is topnotch and breakfast at the Inn is unrivaled. Thank you, Elise, for making graduation - and Mother's Day - weekend everything we'd hoped it would be. We will be back next spring for Keeneland.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Storybook Inn, it is a fantastic place to stay, It has it all from wonderful rooms, excellent atmosphere, out of this world breakfast, and the most kind and nice people there that you would ever want to meet. You truly feel right at home, would definitely stay there again.

I wanted to plan a romantic weekend with a special friend and the Storybook Inn was exactly the right place to do so. The themed rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and appointed, extremely comfortable and 100% clean. We tried two and were transported to Casablanca and London. The deep south in the Gone with the Wind suite will be next. Do try the extra deep Jacuzzi! In spite of how comfortable the rooms are, you must get up in time for breakfast. Elise prepares a delicious variety of treats. Do not plan on lunch after that. Need anything at all: massage, tour guides, advice, roses and wine and sweets in the room, just ask. It will be done with class. There is much to see and do in the area and you're just a half hour from Lexington. The entire staff could not have been more accommodating. It was very private, we heard no one else though all rooms were booked and felt like it was our private house. The common area rooms are lovely and comfortable as well. The absolute only downside was leaving. You owe it to yourself and someone special to visit the Storybook Inn. SM

We stayed at the Inn from March 29-31. What a lovely property! The Innkeeper, Elise, is a wonderful, thoughtful, friendly and welcoming host. It is clear that she wants guests to relax, feel at home, and enjoy all that the inn has to offer. We stayed in the Guesthouse - it surpassed our expectations. Such privacy, space, conveniences, sleep quality, and quiet! It was the attention to detail that was A+ all around. From the helpful directions, the book, movie, and magazine selections, decorations, fabrics, bedding, furniture, and artwork - all of it just made us feel like we could relax and enjoy our time there. A Storybook Inn prides itself on cleanliness, and not just a regular clean like hotels or inns would do, but beyond. The bathroom with double sinks, air-jetted tub and separate shower was immaculate. Kitchen looked brand new. The homemade (and fresh!!) cupcakes with Italian cream and oatmeal cookies that were left each day for us on the kitchen counter in the Guesthouse were delicious. What a nice (and ridiculously yummy) touch. Elise is an innkeeper, but she is also a superb baker. Warm scones at breakfast - yes, please! The breakfast each morning was filling and delightful. Elise took us on a tour of the inn before we went to the Guesthouse. The common areas are so well done, welcoming, comfortable, and charming - and not in a way that is too much or over-the-top based on the name/theme of the Inn. This inn seems to exude approachable southern elegance. Due to the quality of A Storybook Inn and the overall experience, this place is a "must stay". We will stay here again when visiting Kentucky. It is convenient when driving around the area - a good home base! We say thank you again to Elise and A Storybook Inn for a perfect weekend getaway to explore the Bourbon Trail.

We spent 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Elise, Grace and Veronica made us feel like pampered friends. The breakfasts were 5 star and so filling we did not need lunch. Elise set us up with Martha for a great horse farm tour where we learned lots. She also recommended super places for dinner. We stayed in Somewhere In Time suite and it was quite plush and inviting. After dinner was so nice to relax in the comfortable sitting room. The bathroom was so large we never ran into each other!! Also loved dining in the conservatory watching nature outside. We would highly recommend this if you are in the area.

Unbeatable in every way. Elise even went overboard to accommodate my dietary restrictions. A real treasure. Elise does it right.

We spent the weekend of Valentines at A Storybook Inn. What a find! The food, service, and decor were fantastic. The Somewhere in Time suite is by far the most luxurious in which we have stayed. Every detail is obviously well thought out in advance. We hope to be back in warmer months to enjoy the exquisite gardens also. Thanks to Elise and her wonderful staff!

We spent the weekend January 18-January 20, 2014. The Storybook Inn is a great retreat from city life. Their breakfast(s) were fixed with plenty of organic ingredients and served with class. I highly recommend you come and see for yourself. They also take into food allergies which is a plus! Get away and get to Versailles.

We have stayed at many B&Bs throughout the country, and this one has set the standard by which to compare. Elise has done a wonderful job of making this a homey, beautiful, and lovely place to stay. The breakfast was wonderful, and the service was 5 star. The Woodford County area is like a step back in time to a peaceful, friendly atmosphere. This B&B is the gemstone in the middle.

Beautifully restored home, elegant furnishings and decor, and comfortable and homey atmosphere; delicious and elegantly-presented breakfast; the bedding was dreamy and luxurious and loved the twin 'rain' shower heads; and the "Gone With The Wind" suite was impeccably furnished! Interim innkeepers Susan and Jim were warm, delightful & helpful! Although the wind was howling outside on Halloween night, we slept peacefully and undisturbed. Highly recommend this outstanding accommodation!! Barb and Don Walker, Springfield, IL

Our recent stay at A Storybook Inn was one of the best B&B experiences we've enjoyed. The Inn is beautiful...from the lovely manicured grounds to the finely appointed rooms throughout. Innkeepers Susan & Jim were the most gracious hosts. Susan's breakfasts were extraordinary with much attention given to detail & presentation. And, oh yes, she willingly gives out any recipe you request. Jim served these delectable breakfasts & patiently answered the many questions we had about the inn & surrounding area. Their restaurant recommendations were right on. This region is a mecca for foodies who enjoy chef-owned restaurants serving local fresh food. Our heartfelt thanks to Susan & Jim for making our stay a memorable one.

Our stay at A Storybook Inn was exceptional from arrival to departure. Beautiful furnishings and grounds made for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The breakfast both mornings was delicious. Our innkeeper hosts Susan and Jim were very friendly and provided us with welcoming and warm hospitality.. All in all a wonderful experience! - Joan and Doug

We have been fortunate enough to stay with Elise at A Storybook Inn for roughly 10 years, for at least two trips yearly, one each Spring and Fall. As when visiting Lexington, like most, would spend time in the many hotels, but when we found and then stayed at Elise's home, we have never looked back. Each time we return, we feel as though we are returning "home". Elise and staff are warm, welcoming, attentive, and consistant. The house is beautifully appointed, and I might also mention, spotless throughout. Her breakfast is second to none, served in the bright conservatory, so even on a rainy day, one can enjoy the view of the pond and the yard. We are thankful Elise has this beautiful home open for us to enjoy! While the house is certainly beautiful on it's own, it is Elise and her staff, whom has made this the perfect place to stay. In summary, this should be the Bed and Breakfast to judge all others by.

My husband and I received a gift card from our daughter for a one night stay in the Somewhere in Time suite. Upon checking the website for availability and seeing this beautiful bed and breakfast we quickly booked and added a second night. Absolutely everything was perfect. Elise greeted us and was so gracious the entire weekend, and her breakfast delicious. The suite was amazing, bedding so comfortable, all of the rooms outstanding, and the grounds immaculate. We will return to this area and definitely stay at Storybook Inn!

After traveling extensively here in the US and abroad, staying in both small inns as well as top rated hotels, I would rate A Storybook Inn as the best small Inn or Bed and Breakfast I have encountered. The proprietor, Elise Buckley and her staff's level of service and attention to detail is phenomenal and leads to an exceptional experience. From the first class touches of home in the well-appointed rooms to the beautiful setting and grounds of the Inn to the delicious breakfasts served in the garden room this is The place to stay in Blue Grass Country. Don't miss this this spot!
5 on September 22, 2013
Far and away the best stay and hospitality we've ever experienced. The Inn itself is an absolute showplace in every respect - down to the most minute detail. Elise and her staff could not possibly have been more friendly, accommodating, considerate and hospitable. We felt welcomed and very comfortable throughout our two-day stay in the Huntsman's Chase Guesthouse with delicious breakfasts and pastry snacks that defy imagination and adequate appreciative description. It was very clear to us from the moment we arrived that A Storybook Inn was a very special place that had been very carefully conceived and designed by Elise to be elegant, beautiful and appealing, yet comfortable and fully functional. We found ourselves to be in awe the further and harder we looked; the details implemented by Elise were virtually everywhere, at every level. I titled this review Incredible!; however, our stay was much, much more than that, it was a travel experience we'll remember very fondly forever and vow to repeat. We heartily recommend A Storybook Inn to the most discerning travelers and feel confident they'll feel exactly the way we do about the Inn, Elise, Veronica, Sara and Grace. Thank you for one of the best times of our lives.

We stayed at Storybook Inn 9/9 and9/10. We've stayed in other B&B's, but this was, by far, the best one. Everything was exceptional.

Wife and I feel fortunate to have spent a night at A Storybook Inn. Actually, the reviews, including this one, fail to do justice in accurately delineating how beautifully appointed and meticulously detailed this property is presented. Elise, the proprietor, is a joy to be around and is in touch with the local people and actvities. Obviously she enjoys people and has a willingness to suggest best restaurants, sites and activities in the local area. It quickly became obvious why the Inn has won many awards. We certainly recommend A Storybook Inn and have firm plans to return for several days to facilitate a tour of the surrounding horse farms. You will not go wrong with A Storybook Inn. BTW, we stayed in the Gone With the Wind Suite.

A Storybook Inn is elegant, charming and beautiful. Elise, the Inn Keeper spared no expense updating this gorgeous home. It has old world charm with wonderful modern amenities. Breakfast each morning was top notch. A fine dining restaurant could not have done better. The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We have stayed in Bed & Breakfasts before but I doubt if we will ever stay in a property as immaculate and grand. We absolutely loved A Storybook Inn. Thank You Elise!

We had the pleasure of staying in the guest house while in town to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. The attention to detail was outstanding. Elise was very welcoming and helpful as this was our first trip to the Lexington area. The breakfast was worth the trip alone! Oh, and the daily homemade sweets that were left for us each day were fabulous!! Both the main house and the guest house are beautifully appointed. We can not wait to come back!

My mother and I had the pleasure of staying at A Storybook Inn. It was everything that the name of the inn implies. The inn was beautiful inside and out.....with attention to every little detail. The breakfast was wonderful and always with a presentation that was fitting for such a lovely setting. The staff was the best part! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. They were more than happy to help us find a good restaurant or plan our day. We also enjoyed the privacy that was available. We travel quite a bit and found this quiet retreat to be a wonderful escape! We can't wait to return.

From the innkeeper and staff to the decor, grounds and food, A Storybook Inn absolutely surpassed my expectations. Elise has thought of every minute detail and there is absolutely nothing I can think of she can be doing better; the comfort and satisfaction of her guests are priority one from reception to farewell. It was a pleasure staying at the inn and I would certainly recommend it.

Five women stayed in the Guest House of the Storybook Inn while attending our 50th year reunion from Margaret Hall School (now closed). The guest house was spacious, clean, beautifully appointed and just perfect for hosting our friends in the kitchen and living area. The breakfasts were outstanding - I'd go back, just for those! All of us were well cared for, including having fresh-made sweets left for us each day on the kitchen counter. Definitely could not ask for a better place to stay. Others stayed in the "big house," and they also found it a delightful place. I would definitely recommend it and would go back myself. Thanks, Elise, for the fabulous time!

To celebrate my oldest daughter's 10th Birthday, I searched high and low for the perfect place to stay in the middle of exquisite horse country. We found it! Our suite, "Somewhere in Time," was a splurge fit for my princesses. We stayed a week and not only did it feel like home, the staff was absolutely beyond exceptional! With huge smiles and the warmth of southern hospitality, we were welcomed beyond the normal standards. The breakfasts were outstanding and sustained us all day long. The customer service was a definitive "10" and the amenities perfect. I will drive business to Elise for sure in the future through my business and friend base and vowed to my girls to return in the next couple of years. I have stayed in the neatest Four Seasons Geneva Switzerland and Four Seasons Biltmore Santa Barbara, and A Storybook Inn gave them a run for their money. Thank you for making our stay so exceptionally memorable!

We stayed in the guesthouse. What a perfect set-up for 6 people and 2 dogs! The house is gorgeous with every conceivable amenity. The staff is extremely friendly and the breakfasts were all first rate. The experience was very cozy and relaxing. I hope to bring my family back for another stay and would recommend it to anyone.

My family of four (plus the dog) rented the Huntsman Guesthouse at A Storybook Inn last weekend, and it couldn't have gone better! The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and the perfect size for us to be 'together' and have our 'own space.' The inn staff was friendly and professional, the breakfast was amazing, and the grounds were blooming and beautiful! We can't wait to return :)

It was our anniversary and we stayed in the "Somewhere in Time room." It was fabulous! Bigger than some apartments, it had a sitting room a full bath with a jacuzzi tube big enough for 2. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The staff left you alone unless you needed something and were extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast Elise and her staff prepared reminded me of Brennans in New Orleans, well done both visually and taste-wise. I would give it a 10.

Our stay at A Storybook Inn was beyond compare. I travel A LOT and it's hard to find a gem like this!! From the moment we stepped into the Inn we never wanted to leave. Not only is the Inn spotless but they have left no stone unturned, fabulous breakfast, superb privacy, perfectly appointed rooms and smiling service through out our stay. All I can say is you will be Blessed if you get a chance to spend some time here. A perfect escape, worth every dime. Can't wait to return. P.S. Cried when I awoke back home and there was no smell of breakfast being cooked downstairs.

A Storybook Inn proved to be the most delightful surprise! We expected good things for our first visit, based on what we had read, but our expectations were so far exceeded! Elise Buckley has done a masterful job of providing such a lovely, warm, and welcoming environment, we cannot wait to go back. The Somewhere In Time Suite was like a piece of Heaven on Earth. It's so spacious and incredibly well appointed! The very large bedroom is so soothing and peaceful, with lovely decor and a bed to die for! There is a more-than-ample walk-in closet, a lovely large bath including double jetted tub, two dressing stations, and a spacious, invigorating shower. The separate sitting room is large and, again, so comfortable and welcoming. Who wouldn't want to curl up there with a good book?! The Inn is beautifully and tastefully furnished and decorated to the period. We loved spending time in the sunny conservatory overlooking the garden. And breakfast! The food was so delicious, we were tempted to sign up for both sittings! A Storybook Inn should be on everyone's list of destinations for a wonderful, relaxins getaway.

Visiting our niece and needed a great place to stay. We found it at the Storybook Inn. The property is exactly how it appears on the web site. Unbelievable, beautiful, and well-manicured. Elise, the Innkeeper, is a class act! So gracious and knowledgeable of the area. Her loves of cooking and interior design are very evident during your stay. The Inn's staff were very personable and accomodating. We stayed in the Casablanca Room and found it unique and interesting with the spirit of Bogart everpresent. If you are looking for the best when you travel then stop here. We will tell all our friends and family about the Storbook and we will most definitely be back!

We have stayed at numerous bed and breakfast and this one is by far one of the nicest ones we have stayed at. Elise's hospitality was awesome along with her staff. The breakfast and deserts were out of this world, coming from an executive chef. If me and my wife are ever in Kentucky again would stay there. Would highly recommend!

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Storybook Inn. We stayed in the guest house. We have traveled in the US, Caribbean, and Europe and have not stayed in a place that compares. The cleanliness of the entire facility is truly outstanding. The breakfast each morning was homemade, delicious, and clearly made with care. We are always critics when we travel but could find nothing that didn't meet or exceed our expectations. Thank you to Elise for doing such a fine job!

My wife, Lisa, and I came to visit our daughter in Versailles and great good fortune led us to A Storybook Inn. We stayed in the Cottage and it was perfect. Elise left the Christmas decorations up (including the tree in the Cottage), so that we could celebrate Christmas with our daughter just as we always did back home in Pennsylvania! I cannot say enough in praise of the facilities, food and staff. We will definitely be back! Thanks again, Chip

We live very close to the Storybook Inn, but we felt a world away during our time there. It was such a luxurious escape to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary this year. The Somewhere in Time suite is magnificent! I am spoiled forever. Cleanliness and safety are very important to me when staying at a Bed and Breakfast and the Storybook Inn was top notch in exceeding my expectations in both areas. The decor and amenities were fabulous; we truly felt like royalty, and we are not. The staff was very friendly and accommodating in every way. We would love to stay at the Inn every month if we could. For now, we will recommend it to anyone coming to the area and will make our yearly Anniversary celebration there a tradition. Loved it!

Since we moved to Lexington almost 5 years ago, my husband and I have spent X'mas apart. I promised to his family when we left NC that he would always go back for holidays. And, I have been keeping my promise since then. But, for the first time this year, Ted and I decided to celebrate our X'mas early. When we talked about it, I had no doubts where I wanted to be. Storybook Inn! So close to my house yet feels like we are a thousand of miles away. So peaceful, so elegant and so special. Wished we could stay longer but work and kids waited for me. Today is X'mas eve and while Ted is in NC, I feel that we had our X'mas together. Thanks to Elise and her wonderful staff.

My Wife and I recently spent a fantastic, fun, and relaxing weekend at your B&B. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate our 6th Anniversary! Being that I planned the trip and booked our stay as a surprise for my wife, it was my hope that she would be pleased. From the moment we arrived, I was sure from her reactions I had made the right choice. The elegance of the Inn, both inside and out, and the hospitality of the staff was beyond outstanding. My wife was "over the top" about the entire experience and we both can't wait to book our next stay! Special thanks to Rick, Teri, Veronica, and Inn Keeper, Elise who made our stay so much more than we could have ever imagined. Thanks to each of you and we look forward to seeing you again, soon! Four Stars!!!

This trip was to visit family & a "get-away" from some stressful health & overload issues and having stayed in numerous B&B's in the US & the UK, we needed to relax & A Storybook Inn looked like it may be the ticket. We certainly did get relaxation in as well as finding the very best B&B we've ever encountered! Not only is the decor inviting & beautifully done, but the whole experience is enveloping you in warmth & relaxation within its historic walls! And your every comfort is found within this circa 1830's graceful mansion complete with breakfasts that cannot possibly be any better! Elise exudes warmth & is the very best hostess while her staff are friendly & eager to please. The surrounding grounds are quiet and graced with trees, birds, water features, lovely gardens with paths through the grounds to enjoy in all seasons. This is what a top notch B&B should be and this is at the top of our list. The area abounds in gorgeous countryside, hills, horse farms, & wonderful roads for driving to nearby villages of antique shops, restaurants & boutiques. One simply cannot ask for a more restful experience in beautiful Kentucky. We only had to tear ourselves away for fear of becoming permanent fixtures in A Storybook Inn. Thank you all & especially Elise! We will be back!

Elise, Veronica and staff - many, many thanks for a much-needed wonderful stay at the inn last weekend! The level of quality is unmatched at any of the inns and B&B that Keith and I have previously stayed. The rooms are meticulously appointed, clean and pin-drop quiet. The dining....what can we say but "wow"! We, being vegetarians, much appreciate the obvious thought that went into the meals, including a welcome tea! We plan on returning each time that we are in Lexington as a retreat from family visiting. Many, many thanks! Bill

I can't say enough great things about A Storybook Inn! First of all, it is absolutely beautiful! No deceptions at all in the photos they have posted. In fact, the photos don't do it justice. Elise has gone to great lengths to make sure her guests are catered to in every aspect of their stay. Complimentary water and tea are available very conveniently located to the suite entrances, which I appreciated because I visited the station in my robe which the inn provided! And the robes...most comfy I've ever worn! I have a standard for cleanliness which I would say surpasses about 99% of the population and I was more than satisfied with the cleanliness of our accommodations and the entire Inn. It looked like someone had just finished massive Spring cleaning. We booked the Gone With the Wind Suite because it did not have a whirlpool tub as we have a policy to never ever use tubs anywhere that we stay. I can tell you with full confidence that we will be staying here again and we will definitely book a suite with a tub and be completely comfortable using it. And THE FOOD! Best coffee I have ever had in my entire life, and I'm a Starbucks girl. Fresh banana bread that I cannot even describe to you. Fresh squeezed juice, yum! Even my "meat and potatoes" country-raised husband was impressed with the cowboy frittata, fried potatoes, and thick cut bacon. I'll probably be contacting Elise in the near future to see if we can just come for breakfast :)

My wife and I booked a recent six-night stay at the Storybook Inn on the back of a great many superlative reviews and yet at the same time I was expecting to discover that many of the accolades about the Inn had been somewhat exaggerated. They were not. Everything about this establishment oozed quality. This is was true Kentucky hospitality at its very best. We only had a brief meeting with hostess Elise Buckley shortly after our arrival as she was just off on a no doubt well-earned short break to re-charge her batteries. But Susan and Jim Bickelhaupt who took over the running of the Inn during her absence were delightful ‘substitutes’. Susan’s sumptuous breakfasts, different on every day of our stay, were a veritable work of art – and delicious at the same time. She also took care of my special dietary needs. Before making my booking I had read the detailed descriptions of the suites on the Inn’s website and, as a result, we opted for the luxurious Somewhere in Time suite. This was only available for the first two nights of our stay, but those two nights left a really lasting impression. My wife and I felt like millionaires in this huge suite, enjoying in particular the ultra comfortable 4-poster bed and the two-person whirlpool tub. For the next four nights we stayed in the equally deluxe and tastefully furnished Casablanca suite, which also had a whirlpool tub. It was different in many respects to the Somewhere in Time suite and we enjoyed in particular its Moroccan style, and a very comfortable sleigh bed. My wife later commented that the beds in the two suites were probably the most comfortable we had ever stayed in.

We have just returned from a stay at Storoybook Inn. It was a peaceful setting, elegant in decor, fine gourmet cooking, and a friendly and helpful staff. The area provides a lovely view of "horse country", great restaurants, and historical sites to fill many days. We plan to return for a repeat visit.

My wife and I spent two glorious days visiting the Lexington area and consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to book the "Somewhere in Time" room at A Storybook Inn. Elise definitely has some very special talents. The Inn is designed down to the most minute detail and we felt like we were a king and queen. Perfection is a word that describes A Storybook Inn. The service matched the surroundings. HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone needing an overnight or a week near Lexington!

Everything about our weekend event was picture perfect. The rooms, the cottage, the grounds, the food and most importantly the Innkeeper who made everything flow. We had considered the traditional hall but we were glad that we did not. Family and friends from CA to NY attended and all were impressed with our event and it could not have happened to this degree of perfection without our stay at the Storybook Inn. I highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed in the cottage for our overnight stay on our way traveling thru the area - the team at The Storybook Inn went out of their way to have the cottage ready for us. We loved our stay, the cottage was absolutely wonderful and beyond our expectations. It is so nice to have such a wonderful place to stay while away from home!

Our visit to the Storybook Inn was one I will not forget. My husband surprisied me with an overnite stay here on our trip home from NY to AL for our 10th wedding anniversary. I have always wanted to stay at a B&B and with this being my first experince I think any others will have a hard time meeting my expectations after this! He booked the Casablanca suite and what an amazing room! The Inn lives up to it's name. Elise's attention to detail is unsurpassed. She hand dipped the strawberries in our room! Breakfast the next morning was outstanding.....homemade blueberry waffle with flaxseed oil, topped with organic peaches cooked in rum and butter and organic stawberries with fresh whipped cream....my mouth is watering just remembering how incredible everything tasted. It is a 10 hours drive from whre we are in AL to the Storybook Inn, but I would make that drive in a heartbeat to stay there again. Thank You to Elise and her wonderful staff for making our anniversary stay memorable. Michael and Deneen Balistere

I wanted to take my wife somewhere special for our 30th wedding anniversary, and I will say I am very hard to impress. I searched online for just the right place and I found it at the Storybook Inn! We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, so I was a little nervous about it. But upon driving up to the Inn, I knew I had chosen well. We walked through the front door and WOW.....it blew us away! Elise, the owner, took us through the house and then to our Somewhere In Time suite, and after Elise left, my wife cried with happiness. That said it all. Then, the breakfast each morning....one word...awesome. Again, it was the perfect place for us. The landscape outside, the elegant music playing downstairs, the food, the atmosphere....perfection. We stayed 3 nights, we did not want to leave. The pictures online are good, but really they do not do the Inn justice. Elise and Veronica who served us each morning were a joy to be around. We are already planning another trip as soon as we can. Again.....perfection is all I can say. Larry and Amy Rhodes/Tennessee

We chose Storybook Inn to have our wedding/reception due to the beauty of the Inn. I had no idea just how amazing our wedding day would be at the Inn until it actually happened. Elise could not have been a more gracious host. The service received here was top notch, the breakfasts were outstanding and there was so much attention to detail. Our wedding day felt like a scene from a movie. It was so beautiful and went so smoothly that it still, days later, feels like a wonderful dream. My husband and I will most definitely be making future reservations to celebrate our anniversaries. Thank you so much to Elise and her wonderful staff.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Storybook Inn September 2012 while we toured the Bourbon Trail. The Inn is everything anybody could want and more. Comfortable, clean and we probably had one of the the best breakfasts we have ever had, anywhere. Elise the Innkeeper not only was an fantastic individual, but a great tour guide for the area as well as a warm and inviting host who attended to our every need. I would not hesitate for a moment to revisit. It is everything it is described as and more!! Marc & Diane S.

We booked for three nights, in mid September for our trip designed to do the Bourbon Trail, as well as spend some time in Horse Country. The weather turned out to be perfect, and the tours were great fun, and educational. But we found ourselves looking forward to getting back to the Inn, as much as anything. Elise has done an amazing job of making the Inn representative of it's heritage, and one of the nicest, and most enjoyable places we have ever stayed. And trust me, we have been to the best hotels and Inn's all over the world. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.

Look no further! It really doesn't get any better than this! My husband and I had the privilege of staying in the Huntsman Chase Guesthouse for an anniversary celebration. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by true southern hospitality. No detail has been overlooked at the Storybook Inn! We were in awe of the charming and beautifully decorated cottage (a home away from home), the peaceful garden, and the delicious 5 star breakfast each morning in the beautiful Conservatory. Elise and her staff were so attentive and wonderful hosts. We cannot wait to return!

Kentucky is wonderful and we had a very memorable trip there. However, our stay at A Storybook Inn put our trip "over the top". It is the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast we have ever visited. The decor, cleanliness, comfort, serenity, and beauty both indoors and outdoors make staying here an experience that will not be forgotten. The breakfasts we enjoyed were delicious, of the finest ingredients, and presented so elegantly. Elise, the innkeeper, and her staff make visitors feel like royalty! We hope to get back very soon!!

Upon entering the Storybook Inn guests are enveloped in a fairytale setting of Southern elegance and charm. Elise is a warm and gracious hostess that makes your stay a treat from check-in until departure. Elegant décor, gourmet breakfasts, in home library, delightful garden setting……….all add to a tranquil and relaxing visit. The attention to detail and warmth shown to every guest makes one feel like a dear friend. Storybook Inn goes to the top of our bed and breakfast list….. we look forward to our return!

Six of us "life long" girlfriends stayed at the Huntsman Guest Cottage for several days. It was absolutely fantastic. Beautifully decorated, private bathrooms and also includes the most wonderful breakfast. Nice to walk to town and drive to the many nearby attractions.

My sisters and I recently returned from a weeklong stay at A Storybook Inn in Versailles, Kentucky. The Inn is a haven of Southern civility and charm, a reflection of the owner Ms. C. Elise Buckley. Surrounded by a wide expanse of lawn with lovely trees, the Inn sits well off the road and there is no intrusion of traffic noise. The Inn itself is an historic building built in 1838 and beautifully restored. As you approach down the long drive it is evident that a great deal of attention is given to the exterior surrounds. This same level of consideration extends into the Inn and once inside, you will never want to leave. The common spaces are lovely and while thought has been given to every detail, there is an inviting sense that assures one does not feel out of place. Everything here is immaculate – the chandeliers sparkle without a speck of dust, the wood flows shine. That sense of detail and cleanliness extends throughout the guest rooms as well – a testament to the high standards of Ms. Buckley and her exceptional staff. Business here is conducted in an unobtrusive manner and combines with the privacy of the entire property to contribute to an overall exceptional experience. Special Note: Ms. Buckley employed Susan and Jim Bickelhaupt of InnAssist to fill in for her during most of our stay and this husband and wife team did a remarkable job. The Bickelhaupts were outstanding and made it a seamless transition. Their business, an interim innleeping service which takes them across several states from their home base in South Carolina, is thriving due to their high level of professionalism expertise, and dedication.

With not one detail needing improvement, this is southern hospitality at its best. Enjoy!

After a fun but exhausting family get-together in Indiana in May we decided to take a break for a few days in Kentucky on our way home to South Carolina. Elise provided the perfect place to catch our breath, to take slow drives through beautiful horse country, to enjoy exploring shops, and to experience the various culinary delights that varied from a small town luncheonette to elegant Lexington restaurants. The best part of all was that our "home base" was the Storybook Inn....each day started with a delicious breakfast in the light and airy dining porch, the lovely home provided places to sit quietly and read, and our room was so comfortable and more importantly all of the housekeeping practices made an environment that was safe for my asthmatic-prone husband. We were continually pleased with the many touches that Elise made to enhance our stay, and we look forward to our return.....there is still so much to see and Elise is the perfect host and guide!

We had the pleasure of staying in the Huntsman Lodge at Storybook Inn, what a wonderful experience. Elise and Veronica made sure our stay was comfortable with their attention to detail and service. We have, and will continue, to recommend this treasure to everyone.

Our stay at the Storybook Inn was amazing. Elise and her staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. The food was delicious and all from scratch! Divine recipes! The Inn and room were spotless and comfy. The house and decor was beautiful and so tastefully done! Thank you Elise and staff for the best bed and breakfast stay ever for us. We felt we were treated like royalty :) David and Jamie Anderson from Murfreesboro, TN.
David and Jamie, you two were an absolute delight to host. We are thrilled that your stay with was one where you "felt treated like royalty" as that is our aim. We look forward to see your smiling faces again at A Storybook Inn!

I was quite nervous about booking accommodations online. However, after an e-mail conversation with the innkeeper, decided that this would be a good place for a longtime friend and me to use as a base for our Kentucky vacation. Now that our week is over, I can say that my only regret is that we had to finally leave. Our suite was marvellous in every way, the food was fulfilling and delicious and the innkeeper and her staff spoiled us rotten. This is a home-away-from home in a class of its own.
Brenda, you and Carol were great! I loved your mantra that you adopted for the week you were here, "I went to bed in Kentucky and woke up in Heaven." Looking forward to when you can bring your husband and stay at the inn and see the beautiful horse country that you so love.

We stayed over the mother's day weekend. The place was perfect and if you want to visit one of the best B & B's in the country this is the place to go. We rented the cottage so had it totally to ourselves. The place was perfect. Great food and special treats in the evening also with the wine.

Came upon A Storybook Inn from a contact person for the Kentucky Derby and online. Without a doubt this Inn is the best we have ever stayed in. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in glorious splendor!! My husband and I always said one day we would go to the Kentucky Derby and we did and it was a dream come true and staying at A Storybook Inn completed our dream!! Thank you Elise and staff we cannot say enough about our room (Somewhere In Time), the gardens, the breakfasts, the friendly and very accomodating staff and the beautifully decorated Inn itself...It was all like we were living a real live story...
Elaine, you and Dean were wonderful to host! I hope it is not the last time you come visit us in Kentucky all the way from Canada. We love Canadians. One day I will make it to Nova Scotia! All the very best to you! Elise

We stayed only one night at The Storybook Inn. I wish it could have been longer. The word Luxurious comes to mind when I think about the place, from the decor to the hospitality to the food and even to our wonderful sheets, the best I've ever slept on. We stayed in the Somewhere in Time room, truly memorable!
Ah, thank you so much for your kind words. It is our joy to provide an experience of luxury for you, down to the smallest details. Please come see us again! Elise

We are Bed and Breakfast fans and have stayed at numerous inns. The StoryBook Inn was a real gem. We were pampered by the owner and the inn was impeccable in every way! I would recommend this inn to only those that enjoy being surrounded by a beautiful inn and beautiul surroundings in a relaxed and regal atmosphere and pampered as royalty! Pat and Gary
Hi Pat and Gary, I hope your first stay was the first of many! We would love to host you again should you come this way again for business or pleasure. All the best! Elise

The southern style of the Storybook Inn was the perfect setting for our book club reunion last weekend. My college friends and I loved every moment of our stay at this exceptional B&B! The seven of us lodged in the beautiful Huntsman's Chase Guesthouse, the ideal base for our book discussions, our explorations of horse country, and our joy in being together. Each morning the breakfast in the mansion's solarium was a culinary masterpiece. The graciousness of Innkeeper Elise and her staff enhanced our happy experience. It could not have been any better and we resolved to return again! Paula Steenken

The beauty of this inn is impossible to describe and pictures don't do it justice. Our entire stay was superb from beginning to end. Luxurious accommodations, beautiful gardens and delicious food topped off with impeccable southern hospitality. Can't wait to return!

I did the planning for our spring break trip the first week of April, I have no idea why I picked the Storybook Inn, but my wife is still telling me how smart I am. We both enjoyed our stay, Elise, the innkeeper, is tops and runs a most enjoyable inn, to call it a B&B does not do it justice.
You two were so cute! I love it when couples have a great time getting away together for a time of respite and togetherness. Looking forward to your next visit! Elise

My husband booked us a stay at the Storybook for two nights last week. After 35 years of marriage, he has finally revealed himself as an intelligent, sensitive man with exquisite taste! The Storybook is not only architecturally stunning, it is also imbued with the refined and generous spirit of innkeeper Elise Buckley. From the fresh, organic eggs and home baked breads that adorn breakfast, to the luscious cakes and wine that beckon to guests from the sideboard each evening, the Inn is a feast of color, abundance, and good taste. The beds are lusciously fitted with sleek linens, and the rooms are decorated in a rich interplay of colors and textures. Yep folks, this one great place--just settle in and surrender to the joy of it all!

I spent three delightful days in the Huntsman Chase Guesthouse. What a fabulous retreat! The guesthouse was beautifully decorated and tastfully appointed. Everything anyone could possibly want was provided. Gourmet breakfast each morming was delicious and presentation was exquisite! A Storybook Inn was the most outstanding bed and breakfast I have ever visited. Elise and her staff were delightful and helpful in finding the things we wanted to see and do. The gardens were beautiful and time spent at the pond and waterfall was so relaxing and peaceful.
Thank you dear lady. We loved hosting your group of precious friends. It is my hope that those that planned on coming back later with their husbands will be able to do so, and also another girlfriend trek this way as well. All the best! Elise

I surprised my husband for our 13 year wedding anniversary with a night at A Storybook Inn. This was our first experience at a B&B. We are officially spoiled and I would find it hard to believe that any B&B could top this one! The Inn is even more beautiful than the pictures on the website. We stayed in the "Somewhere In Time" Suite and it was gorgeous. The glass Conservatory is beautiful and we had the best organic blueberry pancakes. Highly recommend dining at The Heirloom Restaurant in Midway and taking the Woodford Reserve Tour while you stay at this romantic Inn.
Sounds like you had a perfect Kentucky getaway. We are so very glad that we could play a key part in it! Come see us again! All the best! Elise

We stayed in the Huntsman Chase Guesthouse on February 10 - 11, 2012. The facilities, the innkeeper, and the staff define what a first class bed and breakfast should be. We have been staying in b&bs for 25 years and they do not get any better than A Storybook Inn.

We stayed in this luxurious bed and breakfast to celebrate my spouse's birthday the weekend of January 14, 2012 and look forward to coming back in the Summer. The grounds, decor, amenities and service are all top class. The innkeeper, Elise, is a caring and amiable hostess with a discerning eye for interior design and keen about anticipating her guests' needs. Everything from the decor of the public areas to the details in the bedrooms, including night lights and high quality toiletries and linens, were of superior quality and astonishingly beautiful. The succulent breakfast was a highly-anticipated good morning treat. Even the ingredients for the breakfast were carefully selected by using organic products. Elise is well-versed on the offerings and events of the neighboring towns. Her recommendations eased the anxiety of exploring unknown restaurants. If you're looking to be pampered and enjoy a historical setting....this lovely inn is a must stay!

We stayed in the Casablanca room for our honeymoon, while we did the KY Bourbon Trail. The location was perfect for us to stay there and hit the distilleries! We were really impressed with the breakfasts that we had in the mornings, and with the snacks and wine that were left out in the common areas in the evenings. The food was wonderful! The suite was beautiful and everything that we hoped for. We left some clothes hanging in the closet and the staff called us as soon as they found it. Unfortunately we were already out of the area, but Elise offered to ship us our belongings. We were really grateful for that! The whole experience was wonderful. We are glad we chose Storybook for our honeymoon!

We could not have been more impressed by the offerings of Storybook Inn. We stayed in the "Somewhere in Time" suite to celebrate an anniversary. The suite was beautiful. The entire house was elegant, rivaling any 5 star hotel. The breakfast and the service was as good as it gets. Do not let the low price fool you. We just looked at the price again thinking we were not charged the full price! You will have to look hard to find a bed and breakfast with this class and service. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer. When we are in KY, Storybook Inn is our new home.

We arrived at A Storybook Inn after staying at 2 other highly rated B&B"s. We were disappointed by those places but not with Storybook! I'm so glad this was at the end of our trip because nothing could compare to the luxury and feeling of this place. We had Elise to ourselves for breakfast the next morning and she graciously sat and talked with us and made us feel so welcomed. We plan to go back for an extended stay soon!!!

My husband and I loved our stay at the inn. The whole house was gorgeous and felt like stepping back in time. However the bathroom and our bedroom were modern and spacious. The second floor had a nice coffee bar and we popped popcorn to watch our movie. Elise and her staff were so nice. Come here to relax and enjoy the luxurious surroundings.

This was our first experience at staying at a bed and breakfast and we are now truly spoiled. The home was very warm and elegant. The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to do in the area. We found some lovely wineries. We stayed in "Somewhere in Time" and fell in love with this room! The bed and bedding was very comfortable. I personally loved the 2-person lounging jaccuzi tub. We truly felt pampered the entire weekend. The breakfast and service was outstanding! It was a wonderful experience and would recommend a Storybook Inn for your weekend get-away! We hope to return soon.

My husband and I stayed for a night to celebrate his coming home from 6-weeks on the road. It was a wonderfully romantic and relaxing time, and Tamara was exceedingly gracious despite her feeling sick. The breakfast was delicious, and we could have stayed in the sunroom overlooking the garden and sipping our coffee all morning! Except that we couldn't wait to get back to the comfy bed and bathrobes to wile away the rest of the morning, thanks to the late check-out time. We did have trouble getting enough warm water for soaking in the whirlpool tub, but that was still enjoyable and I forgot to ask about it. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

We celebrated our 8th anniversary at Storybook Inn, and it was the most AMAZING trip. We stayed in the guest house, and it was picture-perfect. Everything was clean, new, and updated. My husband and I were shocked at the attention to detail shown. There was a big, flat screen TV, a remote-controled fireplace, a sparkling-clean jacuzzi, leather recliners and couch....I could go on and on. We had a private back porch overlooking beautiful grounds, too. So romantic! Tamrarah, the inn manager was great, too. She was energetic and so attentive. She really made us feel welcome. I can't say enough about the breakfast, either. I felt like I was dining at a five-star restaurant!!!l If you stay at the inn, ask Tamarah to make Kentucky Hot Browns. They will knock your socks off! Dessert in the afternoon was wonderful, too. We definitely had a trip to remember. My husband and I have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts before, but never anywhere like this. We're already talking about our next trip! Stay here. It's worth the money! Jenny

What a marvelous setting for a wedding!!! Our families took over the Inn for one night to share the wedding of our eldest grandson! Elegance abounded, exceptional staff attended to every detail with smiling faces and nothing but joy was experienced the entire time we lived at A Storybook Inn! The parlor was perfect for the ceremony. The wedding dinner was exceptional, served in the Conservatory by absolutely delightfully happy ladies who love their work. The suites (not rooms, suites) are right out of movies, literally! The bridal suite, (Somewhere in Time) was a magnificent first night dwelling place! The other three suites are equally stunning and comfortable. If you have only one chance to visit a B & B make it A STORYBOOK INN!

My wife and I stayed here a year ago and thought then, what a wonderful and memorable setting for a wedding. Little did we know that we would, just one year later, gather four generations of our family at the inn for our son's marriage. A Storybook Inn, did in fact, become the setting for A Storybook Wedding! Elise's gracious hospitality and attention to detail enabled my wife to plan the very special event in just a few short weeks. Tamara and the rest of the staff made my family feel as if the mansion was our home. Because of A Storybook Inn, my son and his bride had A Storybook beginning to their life together!

This is nothing less than a first class bed and breakfast. We exclusively stay at B & B's and this would top our list of places to stay. Food is fabulous - all prepared with wonderful ingredients and you will always be asked if there are special desires or needs in your diet. The staff and owner are all fabulous - very friendly and extremely helpful. We have stayed her 5 times and will definately be back.
Hello! It is our pleasure to meet your dietary needs and our joy to try our best to exceed your expectations. Thank you again and again for choosing A Storybook Inn! Elise

Nothing could be finer then to visit the heart of Kentucky in the fall with a stay at The Storybook Inn. This stately mansion is located in Versailles,Ky which is convenient to everything. This was my second stay and my first since some significant renovations; which were most pleasantly surprising. We found the staff absolutely amazing and accomodating in every way. Even a late night rescue of the dvd player which allowed us to view "Gone With The Wind" from the "Gone With The Wind" room. What a treat. We got 4th floor seating for the last day of the fall meet at Keenland Horseracing and enjoyed Elise's(Innkeeper) favorite restaurant in Midway in the heart of the horse farms. What a glorious weekend all perfect i9ncluding the wonderful breakfasts prepared each morning. I highly recommend this Kentucky Treasure and give it my highest rating.
What a lovely recap of your stay with us! I am so glad that your visit was WONDERFUL for you! I love this gorgeous old place and love to share it with lovely appreciative people like you! Thank you for choosing to come stay with us. Warmly, Elise

Most beautifully and creatively appointed B&B we have experienced. Attention to detail is exceptional - Elise has gone above and beyond in anticipating her guests' needs. My wife and I spent 2 wonderful days at A Storybook Inn in the Huntsman's Chase Guesthouse which was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The highlight of our stay was the excellent breakfasts Tamara prepared for us, it was definitely the best banana stuffed French Toast I've ever had and my wife loved the Eggs Benedict. We were well taken care of and will definitely recommend A Storybook Inn to others.
A big thank you to you for coming to stay with us. We love, love, love how the new guesthouse turned out. So glad that you could come and stay with us and enjoy it. My sister and I returned to Storybook Inn after the renovations. We were enthralled, as we were the first time, in this magical place. It is so elegant, beautiful and sumptuous. Tamara is a breath of fresh air and really extended herself to make our visit even more perfect. We very highly recommend this delightful place to all our friends. I've traveled extensively, but I've never seen a more beautiful place than the Versailles/Lexington area. Storybook Inn fits perfectly in this surreal area. Oh, and the Eggs Benedict were equally superb. Thank you Elise and Tamara, for another unforgetable, magical stay.
Wow! What a wonderful review! You make me want to come stay at A Storybook Inn! I designed it in such a way that it would be very elegant but very comfortable for our guests. I am so glad that you loved your experience. Besides being beautiful far beyond the photos on the site, it FEELS so peaceful and wonderful here. I am so glad that you expressed in words your lovely, "unforgettable" and "magical" stay. Thank you, dear sisters! Warmly, Elise

Our stay was nice. The staff was very inviting. The food was excellent and there were wonderful treats in the evening. It was a beautiful inn. We had a lovely stay. I was a little confused about telling them that it was our anniversary and they did not really acknowledge that in any way. Other places we have stayed at least gave us a little card. Why did they want to know? Also, there were no candles in the fireplace and it didn't seem we could use it. Also, I didn't notice any aromatheraphy. I think the price was a little high so it made us notice some of the little things advertised that we didn't see. However, all in all, our stay was very nice.
Happy Anniversary to you! I (Elise)wasn't at the inn the evening that you were there. I apologize for our staff's oversight in not wishing you a Happy Anniversary. We love to do the well wishing and extra goodies. Did you tell the manager that it was your anniversary? Or fill it in on your reservation form? Whichever it was,I apologize that we did not extend anniverary wishes. I know that when we choose a place to spend special occassions, we have certain expectations. It is our norm to exceed expectations but I know how disappointing it can when expectations are not matched with what we had in mind. The candles that you mentioned, I have since taken off the website. I had just had them removed from the fireplaces before your visit. The fireplaces in all the main house suites were too close to the bedding, so posed a safety (fire) hazard, so I had them removed except for our honeymoon suite, where the fireplace is at least 16 ft from the bedding. The "aromatherapy" that you mentioned is in the air whirlpool. It would only be noticed if a whirlpool bath was taken. We regularly refresh the inner cannisters with natural oils, so it should have been current. The ratio of what the inn cost to outfit and renovate compared to the cost of the suites is quite low. We are told by some well-traveled repeat guests that our prices are too low commensurate with the huge cost of renovations and the outfitting of the inn, including 30 original oil paintings, art, antiques, additions, etc. I wish you many, many more anniversaries together and should you give us a chance to extend anniversary greetings to you again, we hope that we can meet or exceed your expectations. Warmly, Elise

We were fortunate to stay in the Guesthouse with 2 other couples and it worked out so nicely. The rooms were lovely and comfortable and we enjoyed having the extra space. I had called ahead to see if the grill was operational as I had noted it on the photos of the guesthouse. When we arrived there was not a grill but when we needed it on Sat. night one appeared so that the 6 of us could dine in the guest house and have a great time. They also made my husbands favorite flavor of birthday cake and delivered it to the guesthouse. They are most friendly and are attentive to your every need. It was such a delightful and beautiful place to stay. The staff is so very friendly and will meet your every need. It was a totally delightful experience and we hope to return again to this lovely part of Kentucky. The breakfasts were so delicious and we especially appreciated having a choice of times.

Everything was picture perfect. We are thinking about coming back for a renewal of vows. As a Chicago native, I'm used to modern chic and minimalism, but this country style coziness really converted me... and that's saying a lot.

This is an astonishingly well decorated and run B&B, the best I've seen, and I get around. Personal, yet unobtrusive; excellent breakfast without being fussy; the rooms are fabulously designed -- thematic without being cartoonish. Perfect balance.

When you enter the private grounds of STORYBOOK INN, you seemingly enter another "Era"...a fully renovated stately southern mansion with beauty and charm that visually says: "Welcome". Our family has lived in and travelled to many world spots and stayed at the very best Hotels and Inns. STORYBOOK INN provides amenities, details, personal service and attention that gives this Inn an edge as a five star facility. The Owner and Innkeeper, Elise Buckley, is delightful, gregarious, interested in healthy foods, the good life and truly knows her "hometown" of Lexington. We have been guests at Storybook over twenty times. Your first visit will be the start of a new "Inn" love affair. Sincerely, Dolores and Alfred W.
Dear Al and Dee: As I have gotten to know you over the years as guests, you have become my friends. For you two to have lived in many parts of the planet, to have traveled extensively and to have very discerning tastes, it is a joy to me that you choose Storybook again and again for your "between houses" stays. Besides that, I love your visits! It was with great pleasure that I read your wonderful review of your many experiences at the inn. A huge thank you for coming again and again and for counting me as your friend. Indeed Storybook has become your home away from home! Very warmly, Elise

What a beautiful inn! Very peaceful and relaxing. The town of Versailles is very charming and our stay was wonderful. We plan to return some time in the future! This was our first B&B and it was completely memorable! Would recommend it to family and friends in a heart beat!

Our stay at Storybook Inn far exceeded our expectations. First, our eyes feasted on the beauty of the Inn from the beautifully appointed room to the magical waterfall that was our delight to see each morning at breakfast. The food was superb, great taste and great presentation. But most of all we felt truly pampered...our every desire was attended to. If you are in the Lexington area, you must plan to stay at the torybook Inn. But, its worth making the Inn your destination alone. Linda Eckard

Truly an outstanding B&B. It was equal to, if not better, than any B&B we have ever stayed in. The house and facilities were in excellent condition. Every aspect of our stay was superb! We will surely be back.

Tamara was kind enough to offer us the Huntsman Chase Guest Cottage. It was beyond compare. We had friends visiting from Texas and the guest cottage gave us plenty of time to sit and enjoy each others company. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. The Storybook Inn is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed. Bob and Pam Houston (Oxford, OH)

We spent the weekend at A Stoybook Inn for our 17th Wedding Anniversary and completely fell in love with the house. The house is beautiful and spotless! The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful! We were welcomed graciously and felt completely at home immediately. It was by far our best stay at a B&B! I can't wait to return!

In all my travels I've never encountered a more enchanting Inn than Storybook. Elise, Tamara and Veronique have spoiled my sweetie and me rotten. The Somewhere in Time suite is spacious and gorgeous--absolutely stunning--and the food divine. Every comfort is provided for; every desire anticipated. The attention to detail is impressive beyond belief. The atmosphere is one of elegant comfort and gracious warmth. We are so happy here that we may never leave!

I will start by saying that we are not typically fans of "Bed and Breakfast" accommodations. A Storybook Inn took our breath away. All the benefits of a luxury hotel with the personal touch of an Inn. An unusual combination of stately without being stuffy. We stayed in the cottage which was beautifully appointed and spacious. The inn was spotless. The best part of the stay was Tamara, the manager who meets, greets, cooks, and goes out of her way to ensure your stay in the Lexington area is fantastic. She brings a great personality to the place, without encroaching on your own space. We recommend without any reservations and would go back in a heartbeat. A great place to stay for exploring horse country and bourbon trail. Only a 10 minute drive into the heart of Lexington. Staying in Versailles in a large historic home adds to the feeling of the trip.

My husband surprised me with a stay at A Storybook this past weekend. I really didn't know what to expect; I definitely couldn't have predicted the experience we had in the "Somewhere In Time" suite. It truly is the pinnacle of charm, luxury, and attention to detail. The grounds, interior decor, and service were more than I could have dreamed. The fragrance (possibly lavendar) permeated my senses and added to the overall experience of calm and luxury. I was amazed at the cleanliness, appreciated the warm welcome (and complimentary glass of wine), and savored the delicious breakfast. I longed to stay another day! We will certainly return in the future!

We have lived in USA and Europe and have stayed in many hotels, guest houses, and B&Bs over the years. Never have we been treated so royally at such an idyllic place. The service, food, and friendliness of the staff (including Tamara, Chance and Veronica) is only exceeded by the cleanliness of the entire Inn (they are obsessive about their cleaning, which delights us!). We had a 4 night stay, which gave us plenty of time to evaluate all the guidelines. A Storybook Inn exceeded our expectations in every category. Tamara is a gourmet chef with a servant's heart...and this is an unbeatable combination. We can't wait until our next visit! Barclay and Nancy Cox

We stayed for two summer nights in the Casablanca Suite, and we couldn't have been happier with everything. The room was very quiet and private. We did get a little cold; however, we probably should have let Tamara know to change the thermostat a bit, so we can't complain about it! The breakfast was incredible, and it kept both of us going until well after lunchtime. The fruit was fresh, the coffee delicious, and the eggs just perfect. We come down to the Lexington area for the Rolex and the Keeneland race meets, and if at all possible, we will be staying with Elise again!

My girlfriends and I stayed at A Storybook Inn and it was the perfect weekend getaway. Elise was wonderful in accommodating us while we were booking our stay. We had lots of questions and logistics and she took care of everything. Tamara exceeded all expectations- she greeted us with a smile and welcomed us to our cottage for the weekend with wine and cheese- what more could we ask for! The cottage is outstanding and exceeded all expectations- it was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Tamara made us the most wonderful breakfast, which was the perfect send off as we were all headed out of town and back to the real world! I have told everyone about this place since we left and I cannot wait to go back!! This is a must see/visit!

Everything was perfect! Talk about attention to detail! Really nothing else to say...if you enjoy beauty (nature and decor), peace and quiet, outstanding food (taste and presentation), and a pristine enviroment, you will love the Storybook Inn. Plus they couldn't have tried harder to meet every single need and request. I plan to tell everybody I meet on the street to head on down! It couldn't be better.

We stayed in the My Fair Lady Suite and had the time of our lives. Tamara and her staff made us feel right at home. And the FOOD! WOW!!!! I've had a lot of Kentucky Hot Browns in my life, but this was the best I've ever had! Can there possibly be a detail that was missed? We couldn't find one! Run, don't walk, to stay at this wonderful inn!

My sisters and I took our mom to this wonderful Bed and Breakfast to celebrate her 80th birthday!! As soon as we arrived; we fell in love! Tamara & Chance both have the most welcoming smiles and made us feel as if we were at home. The breakfasts are absolutely five star!! Chance delivers them with the sweetest smile and with love. Tamara worked on our schedules and helped with our tours of the area. She also pointed the way toward the best dining experiences near the home and we dined in style and loved every minute of it!! Honestly, we hated leaving and will definitely be back!! NO regrets....only PRAISE to the staff !! They deserve a raise!!

My three sisters and I took our mother to a Storybook Inn to celebrate her 80th birthday. Upon arrival you are immediately surrounded by an ambiance that speaks volumes in its beauty and tranquility. There is a peacefulness thats hard to describe. After having lived in England for 9 years and Belgium for 2 I have certainly stayed in my share of bed and breakfast. I can with no reservation report that A Storybook Inn is one of the best experiences you can have in a bed and breakfast. Tamara, Chance and all the staff make your stay as close to perfect as one can hope for. When you leave you are left with memories that last a lifetime, memories to hold to , memories that are unforgettable. Loved it there! Ellie , Frisco Texas

To celebrate milestone birthdays in our family we went on the Bourbon Trail. It was a great day but we were looking forward to relaxing at the Storybook Inn. The perfect day turned into the perfect evening. We stayed at the cottage behind the Inn. It was beautiful and our group of 7 enjoyed having the place just for us. The cottage had a welcoming bottle of wine and delicious chocolate brownies and strawberries waiting for us when we arrived. The grounds and gardens were very nice and inviting. The hospitality was superb. The hostess was very gracious and the smiles were welcoming. The fresh made breakfast served on the enclosed porch was a wonderful way to start the day. We are planning another weekend so that we can stay at the Storybook Inn.

We were at your inn this past weekend for a wedding. It was the perfect setting for a wedding. Everything about our visit exceeded our expectations. The rooms were beautifully decorated to match the movie-themed name of the room; the meals were delicious; the grounds beautifully manicured with places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Everyone on staff was friendly and ready to please, even going over and above the call of duty. We will be back. Thank you for making such a special occassion even more memorable. A Louisvillian

We are new to the bed and breakast circuit and this was a great first choice! Good location for touring horse farms and bourbon distilleries. The manager is a top notch cook and so fun and willing to do anything to make your stay the best. The setting was beautiful and our room so comfortable and lovely, as were the common areas. We would not change a thing about ti s wonderful inn!

Our recent stay in the separate "cottage" (spacious and elegant) of the inn was outstanding. The property is lovely, with immaculate accommodations and common areas. A gourmet breakfast was served in the conservatory, by a friendly and professional staff. Tamara made us feel like family.

What a wonderful place to stay! The room, service, attention to details, and food all exceeded our expectations. A young couple married just as we arrived and we were invited to join their champagne toast. What a welcome! The gone with the wind room was amazing. Really comfy bed. The kitchen at the B & B was recently updated and is over the top. We asked to dine at the kitchen bar and had a great time watching our breakfast being prepared. We are planning on returning and spending a whole weekend being pampered there. What a great experience!

My wife and I choose to spend a night at the Storybook Inn after seeing it on B&B.com and in our B&B Registar. What a night to remember and and a place beyond our wildest dreams to stay at. We stayed in the "Somewhere In Time" suite and it was really beyond our wildest dreams, especialy the breakfast. The Inn is beautifully decorated and the host is one of the nicest ladies I have meet before at a B&B. Off street parking is right at the door leading into the main section of the house. We loved our stay and look forward to staying here again real soon.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Storybook Inn is the perfect choice to transport yourself to a tranquil and relaxing state of mind, instantly. From the moment we walked through the door, Tamara displayed the perfect blend of personality and hospitality. The Storybook Inn leaves no detail unattended. It is an absolute delight!

A Storybook Inn is just outstanding. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, with beautiful grounds and attractive, usable common areas. Our room, Somewhere in Time (rooms are named after old movies) was like a luxury apartment. The Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich was a unique and special breakfast. Price is reasonable for what you get. ...was our wonderful 10th Wedding Anniversary trip to Versailles, KY, and our stay at "A Storybook Inn." Rest assured it is just like the pictures, only better! It is just beautiful and our hostess was the "mostess"! My husband & I stayed in the "Gone With The Wind" suite and it was luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, the robes plush, the "rainshower" shower head refreshing. They even had a lighted makeup mirror in the BR for me. Everything was immaculate. The new flat-screened TV had a lot of cable channels. They have a lot of books and movies if you want to partake of those. The grounds were well trimmed with lush greenery, flowers, and a rose garden. We had fun watching the squirrels and chipmunks. We went to nearby downtown Lexington that evening for dinner at "Natasha's" (very good) and I surprised my husband with the live weekly "WoodSongs Old Time Radio Hour" at the historic Kentucky Theatre (very entertaining). Wine, cheese, & brownies were waiting for us upon our return to "A Storybook Inn." Breakfast the next morning was in the conservatory and was delicious. The hostess complied with my desire for healthy food with fruit and yogurt and a delicious omelet with fresh veggies & asparagus spears (which were very tender--yum!); the coffee was also very good and the service excellent. Fresh coffee, tea, and snacks were also available just outside our room. There was a refrigerator inside the room and outside the room. Reservations and check-in and out were easy. We also visited the "Mary Todd Lincoln House" and "Ashland--the Henry Clay Estate" in Lexington. The Versailles and Lexington area are always nice to visit because there are so many fun things to do, good food, and historic places to visit. I would definitely return to "A Storybook Inn" and would like to try one of the other themed rooms. "After all... tomorrow is another day."

Tamara greeted me at the door and made me feel like this beautiful old house was mine to explore and love if just for a day. The Casablanca room was a bedroom, study, and cozy TV room all in one, perfect for watching videos and paging through old books from the library downstairs. The furnishings (including camel lamps, a bronze lion, and a beautiful elephant print in the bath) took me back to Africa. Coffee, popcorn, and cool drinks were on a sidebar just outside with a complimentary glass of wine and Tamara's tasy brownies downstairs. Breakfast (great eggs with chives and cheddar and pecan-banana pancaskes with sausage) was a wonderful wake-me-up followed by a stroll of the grounds to admire the giant trees and the waterfall water-lily pond. This is one of those few places that is actually even nicer than it looks on the post cards. One final note: even the Bible in the side drawer was special, a new international version which was lovely to read.

My wife, my parents and I stayed in the cottage for two nights while sightseeing in Lexington. The cottage was so beautiful we cut the sightseeing short to sit on the porch and enjoy the grounds. Absolutely amazing. We were overwhelmed by the luxury and beauty of the cottage. The breakfast (made by Tamara) was absolutely out of this world. We will be back for sure any time we travel to Lexington.

This inn is not only quiet, beautiful and placed in a beautiful setting, it is a place where you can step away from the rat race. The owner has created a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. We loved this inn and highly recommend it. The attention to detail was over-whelming. We were impressed and did not want to leave.

The Storybook Inn was fabulous. We arrived late after just being married on June 4 for a 2 day honeymoon. We were unsure as what to expect since we are in our 30's and have never stayed at a B&B before, but Tamra assured me that if we never left the Inn there would be plenty to do. She was so right. Every morning we awoke and went downstairs to a beautiful conservatory filled with sunlight, wonderful music and out of this world cuisine!! I loved all the surroundings that made it so peaceful, and definitely no STRESS!! Our room Gone With The Wind was so large, the pics on the site doesn't do it justice!! It is a perfect retreat for anyone, no matter what the circumstance, you will leave feeling relaxed and full of peace. Also I forgot to mention the staff were so incredible and gracious. The grounds were beautiful, and we loved all the chocolate, the desserts, the drinks, teas, coffees, etc. etc., checkers, chess, movies, books, and on and on!! We look forward to returning and have told so many people about it!! Thanks again for a wonderful honeymoon, it was perfect.

We stayed at the Storybook Inn as part of a trip along the Bourbon Trail. We rented the Huntsmans Cottage and it is gorgeous! New and very nicely done. Excellent amenities, including a full kitchen with basic supplies (even had coffee and chilled waters and soda in the fridge). This did not have a grill, like advertised (which I assume is going to be added since the cottage was new), but that was no problem at all as there a few area restaurants to get take out from, or we could just cook in the kitchen. Breakfast is included in the rental price and it was amazing! We loved that the menu wasn't pre planned and that we were always asked what we felt like for the next morning. Everything was delicious and service was excellent! The grounds are beautiful and the staff are super friendly and eager to accommodate every request. We will definitely be back for another visit!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at A Storybook Inn for three nights after a very busy and exciting time at the Kentucky Derby 2011. We were greeted with a smile and very pleased with the Gone With the Wind suite. Not only was it beautiful and spotless, but loaded with memorabilia paying homage to the film. Nice touch. Tamara was our host and she provided wonderful home-cooked breakfasts each morning. My husband is lactose intolerant and I don't eat eggs, so it was challenging for her. But she rose to the task of pleasing us. Thank you for the sausage milk gravy and biscuits which I miss having living in New England! Every afternoon we had wine, cheese, crackers and the best brownies anywhere. Boy do we have to diet after three days there! Not having ever been to the area, we depended on them to make recommendations for restaurants. They did a great job - we ate at Malone's, Dudley's, and Heirloom. Would recommend all three for great food and excellent service. I also wanted to go to a horse farm. It was a bit difficult because I was calling on the day we wanted the tour. Each person I spoke to that could not accommodate me gave me another name. We finally got in to Three Chimneys farm (thank you Laterri!). It was fascinating. They house Big Brown (2008 Derby winner) and Dynaformer (Barbaro's father) among others. We even got to see a breeding session. It is not easy to find anything negative to say about A Storybook Inn; however, the driveway is very narrow. It would be impossible for two cars to pass each other - one would have to back out! But it was not crowded, so we never had a problem. If we return to the area, we will definitely stay at A Storybook Inn. Well worth it in every regard!

We had everything planned for the weekend. Visit some distilleries one day and beautiful Keeneland Race Track the other. Well, it rained each day. We stayed until after the third race and decided to come back to the Inn to warm up. Everybody had the same idea. We sat in the beautiful sunroom with everyone in the Inn and had a wonderful time. We were all friends before the end of the day. Breakfast was worth the stay all by itself. Had a great time and want to come back sometime soon.

I wanted to do something special for my mom who turned 87. I stayed in the room called "somewhere in time" and it was absolutely wonderful. This is a very special place. It is gorgeous, elegant yet very cozy. I feel my mom was very happy and I will have this beautiful memory for many years to come. I will definitely go back there with my husband. I could even marry him again there :-) Beautiful setting for weddings. Thank you Storybook inn.

This inn is without a doubt the best! The details that were/are thought of in the execution of the creation of this bed and breakfast are fabulous! The inn's staff as well as the innkeeper herself feel like friends. They were very willing to research information that we needed about the area, about things to do and went the extra mile by personally calling us and returning emails so that we were sure to get the info. we needed to enjoy our stay. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts in the midwest region and we feel her inn rivals a famous hotel on an island in northern michigan. We feel this way because the service and the food and the details and the decor are truly superior to anything we have encountered. The only problem we will have now is that we will compare our stays elsewhere with this experience-and the other spots will probably lose. I know we can't make a weekend trip back here, (being quite a few hundred miles away), but now we have a reason to make the long trip-truly, this inn would be the reason!

My husband and I just recently celebrated a belated anniversay and my birthday at A Storybook Inn, and from the moment we were greeted, we felt nurtured in every respect. The owner and proprietor, along with the staff, so warmlly made us feel at home and took care of every possible need we might have. The Inn had just undergone an extended renovation and a couple of weeks before our visit, had reopened its doors for celebrations, vacationers, horse farm and racing enthusiats, and weddings. No doubt, I have left much more out, but for my husband and I, it was a lifetime treat that will remain in our hearts forever. There is no way to describe the renovations of A Storybook Inn! It is just breathtaking and you have to see it to believe how beautiful it is. It is a sanctuary where you just feel so nurtured and cared for in every respect. The beauty from such exquisite detailed planning, makes you feel you are in Heaven....or as one of the suites names implies...Somewhere in Time....all the south holds sacred! And enough cannot be said about the delicious morsels that come from the kitchen, from golden omelets filled with the best nature offers, along with beautiful fresh fruit compotes, and then if you are lucky enough to be celebrating your birthday while there, you even have a delicous cake of your choice, baked in the 'kitchen that dreams are made of'. Rejoice and give yourself the most precious gift....a visit and at a minimum, a two night stay at A Storybook Inn. Next time, my husband and I will opt for a week!! Much love to the entire staff for making us feel so much at home....

We had a great time at A Storybook Inn! The horse country is amazing and this is a great place to stay to enjoy the area. The food was amazing and the main house is stunning! We stayed in the cottage behind the main house. The cottage was remarkable! Everything you need and more! It is huge! So much room for a lot of people. We loved the extra touches like snacks left in the fridge and sweets in the kitchen for us to enjoy after a long day out. It was also nice to stay in and enjoy the house and family. Beyond wonderful experience!

We really enjoyed our two nights at The Storybook Inn; Elise and the whole team made us truly welcome and our room - Casablanca - was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast was a delight, delicious and perfectly presented. We also appreciated 'afternoon tea', which in our case comprised a welcome glass of wine and a piece of home-baked cake. A Storybook Inn is well located for discovering the Bluegrass region of Kentucky and for Keeneland; Versailles is a charming little town. We heartily recommend The Storybook Inn - you will not be disappointed!

I stayed at the Storybook Inn for three nights in May and couldn't get over the level of hospitality and care demonstrated by gracious host, Elise. Every aspect of my stay was the definition of perfection. The home is exquisitely decorated and extraordinarily clean, the grounds are expansive and lovely, it's quiet, and last but not least, the food was outstanding. Breakfasts were a delicious treat each morning, with attention paid to healthful preparation and accommodation made for my special dietary needs. Evening treats were a temptation gladly indulged. Elise and her gracious assistant made sure I lacked nothing. Can't wait to come back!

My wife and I stayed 6 days in the Huntsman Cottage. We were joined the last 2 days by our daughters, ages 11 and 14. Elise and her staff were warm, gracious, and hospitable - even Nick the Poodle. The Inn is beautiful and inviting. The breakfasts are delicious and filling. I could not recommend this B&B any higher.

What sets this Inn apart from the rest is the ambiance and relaxation. From the moment you step inside the hallway, you feel instant sense of warmth and comfort. The rooms are immaculate. The beds are comfortable and warm, and if you do not feel like getting out of them, you will once you have had Elise's breakfast. Complete with fine crystal, and the finest of settings, you will be amazed at the creations served to you each morning.

The Bluegrass area of Kentucky is one of the most spectacular places in the world, and A Storybook Inn is the perfect place to experience it's charms. It's location is perfect. The service and ambiance were above all expectations. My room was magical, and I truly was able to escape back to a kinder, gentler pace of life. Hope to be back soon, and see the evolution of the seasons.

This place is a hidden gem! we Stayed at the farm and it was so peaceful and incredibly charming, clean and up to date. We ate breakfast at the INN and Elise was so sweet and her breakfast's were out of this world. what we liked most about the food is that she has alot of knowledge on healthfoods and eating healthy and she made her breaksfasts incredibly delicious but still maintaining the health factor. I had no idea healthy could taste so irresistable! The rooms at the inn all were themed nice too. the Casablanca room was our favorite in appearance. Although we did not stay at the Inn, Elise gave us a tour one morning after breakfast. I would rate this beautiful place 5 stars and would recommend it to everyone we know. we will definately go back if we are in the area again. it is a great place to stay if you are traveling to the Bourbon trails.

After getting married at Storybook Inn two years ago, we returned this fall for our anniversary. This Inn is truly a gem and couldn't be located in a more beautiful part of Kentucky. Elise and her wonderful staff made our stay a memorable one. My husband and I hope to return many many times!

This is the best B&B we have ever been in. The accomadations were wonderful. Everything was better than a 5 star hotel and we plan on returning. The food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and presented. The little touches (drinks, snacks, wine, heated towel racks, hairdryers, bathrobes) make this establishment stand out from the rest.

I recently had the pleasure of spending two idyllic nights at A Storybook Inn. The Casablanca Suite was gorgeously decorated and incredibly comfortable (great bed!) and the Inn & Innkeeper are gracious and welcoming. I particularly loved the scrumptious breakfasts (peach bread pudding with fresh berries; eggs Benedict with asparagus) which I enjoyed on the enclosed veranda overlooking the garden and koi pond. Lovely!!

Our experience at A Storybook Inn exceeded every expectation we had about staying in a bed & breakfast. From the moment we walked in the door, the charming staff made us feel like family - the kind that goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome in their home. Indeed, this beautiful old house is a home. The very walls seemed to reverberate with joy and love. Our brief stay was a respite from our hectic lives. We felt so at peace that we did not want to leave. A Storybook Inn is a special place. Elise, the innkeeper, and Caroline, the cook, are beautiful, faith-filled ladies who listened to God’s call and are doing exactly what they were meant to do – cherishing their guests as though they might be entertaining angels. We are definitely going back!

My wife and I have stayed in many B&Bs over the years. Our litmus test for hotels, restaurants and B&Bs is the question; “would we come back?” Storybook Inn is of the few B&Bs where we look forward to visiting again. The Inn is wonderfully and tastefully decorated and at the same time very comfortable. The large outdoor screened in patio overlooking the grounds and gardens is especially relaxing with a glass of wine. The breakfast was great and Elise has obviously been blessed with the gift of service. She has not missed any detail of comfort and convenience. We appreciate the “Casablanca” experience she has afforded us. Brights, Atlanta

My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at A Storybook Inn. The entire place was immaculate, and the breakfast was sumptuous. My husband special ordered an all fruit breakfast, and they gave him a big, beautiful bowl full. The tea served with breakfast was extraordinary. We stayed in the Huntsman's Chase Cottage where there were extra goodies everywhere from bubble baths to banana bread and chocolates to the choicest of fruit. The hostess, Elise, was exquisitely gracious, and she even offered to take photographs of us around her elegant home. What a wonderful time we had!

We love A Storybook Inn! We recently returned from our second stay, and it was just as wonderful as the first time - maybe even more so, if that is possible. We have already booked for next year's trip and cannot wait to return. Thanks Elise!

My husband and I stayed at the Inn during our first outing to the Kentucky Derby. The accommodations were wonderful and the staff so delightful, we could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. The house and gardens themselves are spectacular, but Elise and team make the Inn truly special with personal touches that make it feel like home.

If you have not experienced A storybook Inn, then you have missed one of lifes best pleasures. Elise may just be the warmest human on earth, then throw in the best breakfast with warm and charming suites and cottage, and you have the dream vacation. She also made the best birthday cake I have had in my 37 birthdays, a mouth-watering peanut butter and chocolate cake to die for. The vacation of a lifetime.

A friend and I recently stayed at A Storybook Inn and were enchanted with every aspect of our visit. We could not have asked for greater hospitality or comfort. All our needs were anticipated and accommodated. The inn is lovely in every way and the innkeeper oversees its operation with meticulous attention to detail. The breakfasts are truly extraordinary.

Storybook Inn surpassed all of our expections - especially the meals and friendly service. The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious and very clean. Elise couldn't have been more helpful and Carolyn is an outstanding chef. I wouldn't change a thing

Elise obviously loves being an innkeeper! She and her helper Carolyn think of every detail when catering to their guests. They are so warm and gracious, and my sisters and I felt very welcome in the beautifully appointed surroundings. The beds were so comfortable, we could hardly get up in the morning ... but we knew a magnificent breakfast awaited, so that's what motivated us! We look forward to returning!

We've been to many bed and breakfast inns in the past, but nothing matches A Storybook Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were treated not only as family, but as honored guests. Our accomodations were superb - I can't think of a thing I would change. Every detail was thought out - there was even a flashlight in the bedside table drawer. Our room was lovely (Gone with the Wind suite) with a huge king sized bed, sitting room, and bathroom with a double shower. We were there for three days and every breakfast was perfect and delicious. Fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, and a different entree each day that was gourmet quality. You definitely don't go away hungry, which has happened to me in some B & B's. The grounds were beautiful - an enclosed garden with fountain, a huge fenced front yard with a beautiful carpet of green lawn, ample parking in the back. An added bonus was a park (one block away) that had a little stream and walking trails - perfect after our breakfast. All in all, I would definitely go back to A Storybook Inn the next time we're in Lexington. Elise (the proprietor) and Carolyn will make you feel very special indeed. I highly recommend this B & B.

WOW! The B&B that you'd picture in your mind's eye, with the incredibly gracious and hospitable staff AND owner, beutiful decor, inviting atmsphere, delicious food, courteous and lovely guests....well, THIS is that place!!! This was our first visit but surely not our last. I had tried my best to make this a trip my wife would love, and Elise and Carolyn made it such a pleasurable experience, my wife wanted to move in!! If you have the opportunity to stay at this gem of a B&B, do yourself a favor and book it without hesitation. Just don't take my dates!!! :)
5 on April 13, 2008
In a recent trip to Lexington Ky. my wife and I randomly booked 3 nights lodging at the Storybook Inn. We can not begin to say how pleased we were with our choice. With many B&B stays in our past we have never encountered such high standards of lodging, meals, and service. The accommodations were impeccable, the breakfast outstanding and the service second to none. The Storybook Inn is definitely a place we will frequent when visiting Lexington.

We wouldn't hesitate for a second to refer friends to this warm and peaceful escape location.

My family and I had the distinct pleasure to spend a few days in one of the most beautiful B & B's we have ever visited. Although we frequent B & B's all over the world, our preference over Hotels, the Storybook Inn surpassed even our highest expectations. Beautiful original artwork, and decorated to the "t" with historical furniture pieces. Truly gorgeous, yet cozy and relaxing for breakfast in the formal dining room or reading in the parlor or library. Do not miss an opportunity to visit and stay in this B & B as you will feel you have been invited into one of the stunning southern homes as a guest rather than a patron.

What a magical weekend! Elise made the weekend really special. Not only were candles lit and music playing in the room upon our arrival, but Elise took the time to help us make dinner reservations and plan some sightseeing trips as well. She is just lovely. She made us feel right at home. The house was exquistely decorated but yet very comfortable and the food was delicious. We stayed in the My Fair Lady suite but are hoping to try out Gone With the Wind on a return trip. Thank you again, Elise!!

My husband and I were able to get away to A Storybook Inn recently after far too many months of hectic schedules. We had a wonderful time. The Inn is gorgeous and the room was more than ample and charming. The ammenities of the Inn were wonderful even though we chose not to use many of them as we ventured off for dinner and an evening out in Versailles and nearby Lexington. I would highly reccomend A Storybook Inn to anyone and I know that we will back!

Never have my husband and I stayed in a B&B like this one! We spoke with Elise before our stay and she carefully tailored every detail of our trip so that we were comfortable. We had a snow storm during our stay and we were secretly hoping to be snowed in so that our stay could be extended! To help us enjoy our winter weather, Elise even went so far as to go and buy sleds so that we could play and enjoy the snow! The food was incredible and planned to our preferences. The homemade treats set out throughout the house was definetly an added bonus. We fell in love with the man of the house, Nicholas, an adorable BIG poodle that had the sweetest disposition. The rooms were remarkable and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. A Storybook Inn has set the bar so high in B&B standards that I am not sure we could ever stay anywhere else! We cannot waite to go back!!!

Rachel and I have stayed in about a dozen B&B's, and A Storybook Inn is easily tops among them. The house and suites are very clean, and remain comfortable while being decorated exquisitely. We had our wedding there, and took advantage of the beautiful seasonal decorations to add to the atmosphere. We were able to comfortably fit 30-40 people inside the Storybook Inn, with room for more. For a springtime wedding, the surrounding courtyard and grounds would be available to accommodate more guests. Elise was thoughtful, courteous, and professional, and Rachel and I look forward to our next visit to A Storybook Inn.

The Storybook Inn is a lovely B&B. Elise has thought of everything to make your stay memorable. The Inn is extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The beds are oh, so comfortable. Breakfast served on the screened porch or in the formal dining room is delicious. Elise was very attentive to my husband's special diet. She is a knowledgeable and gracious hostess - very helpful with dinner reservations and advice on what to do and see. This B&B is outstanding!

Wow! Words cannot describe how wonderful this Inn is. The bedrooms were immaculate, as well as the rest of the house. It is a grand old fortress that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. The Innkeeper, Elise greets you with a warm smile and really goes out of her way to see to your needs. She gave us great tips on where to eat and sights to see. She makes herself very available and answered all of our questions that we had about the area. We experienced many of Elise's special touches during our three day stay. We had fresh flowers in our room, and complimentary chocolates, popcorn, sodas, and water were available for everyone. It was especially nice at the end of the day to come "home" and have a glass of wine and a fresh baked goody. The breakfast's that Elise prepared were delicious and plentiful. She has a wonderful helper named Carolyn. We looked forward to breakfast in the mornings on the porch as Carolyn always had a smile on her face, and couldn't do enough for us. Her and Elise are a great team and they make it look easy to run a Bed and Breakfast. Their only goal was making sure our stay was the best it could be. In our hurry up world of today it was wonderful to be pampered, and to truly feel that you were put first. Thank you so much. All the Best, Greg and Sandy

My husband and I travel often and have stayed at many "4 Diamond" and Registry Select Inns, etc. - A Storybook Inn is by far the best we've ever experienced! Elise forgets no detail in insuring her guests enjoy a luxurious and unforgettable experience. The Inn and surroundings are so incredibly beautiful, and with the care and attention given to every detail - it's no wonder this place is called "A Storybook Inn"!!!

We only stay at B&Bs and Inns and were fortunate to discover and stay in Storybook soon after it opened in 2005. Since then when we visit the Lexington area we look forward to staying at A Storybook Inn and letting Elise take care of us. Elise is a warm, gracious, beautiful person who truly enjoys taking care of her guests. Being from the area, Elise knows the best places to go for everything. The rooms at Storybook are just as fabulous. I love the attention to detail and the wonderful mattresses on the beds. It is hard to leave all this royal treatment behind when it is time to return to the real world.

My husband and I spent a weekend here for our 28th wedding anniversary and were extremely impressed. We have visited many B&Bs across the country and this is by far one of the very best. Elise is a gem and knows exactly how to fill the needs of her guests. Being an outstanding cook doesn't hurt either! We will definitely return to Storybook in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at this B&B, and it is now my favorite of all we have visited. It was a terrific combination of an elegant atmosphere and "at-home" feeling. The beautiful home was spotless, had a wonderful library and relaxing sunporch, and an excellent massage therpaist I utilized. The innkeeper has a true passion for sincere hospitality and I was blown away by her "healthy decadence" at breakfast. She was such a joy to talk with and the home and little town was just the little retreat away we needed. We will definitely return to try another room!

But for us, it was the tranquility of the Inn that we most enjoyed. We departed, realizing that we had discovered a very special place, a place truly worthy of a return visit.

Neither words of extraordinary eloquence, nor images of artistic acclaimation could adequately capture the rapturous delight which I experienced during my all too brief stay at the appropriately named A Storybook Inn. The incomparable beauty, comfort, and service are what await all who are fortunate to visit this oppulent oasis in the heart of Kentucky. The Innkeeper and her staff extraordinarily anticipate and graciously satisfy their guests' every need with unmatched southern hospitality and charm. The Storybook Inn without a doubt the most elegant place I have ever stayed. There are no "cut corners" in this Inn and everything from the beautiful decor to the details that make each room special shows evidence of "only the best." Elise is the most gracious hostess and I felt pampered and special throughout my stay. The incredible breakfast was fresh, wholesome, delicious and presented as if by a French chef! I will never forget this restful retreat and will DEFINITELY be back again!

I could not have been more pleased with our September wedding at Storybook Inn. It is truly one of the most beautiful garden settings I have seen. Elise was so helpful and courteous from planning to the wedding day. The inn inself is magnificent. You definitely feel like you have stepped back in time at Storybook (without giving up the modern conveniences of course!) My husband and I visited several potential locations for our wedding and nowhere even came close to Storybook Inn.

The Storybook Inn is truly a wonderful getaway! We stayed in the Gone With The Wind suite for our anniversary, and it was heaven!!! The inn's decor is very well done, lovely artwork throughout. The breakfast was gourmet all the way; the first morning Elise served amaretto french toast with fresh berries and real maple syrup, delicious. There were snacks and wine set out every evening for us to enjoy. And lots of extra amenities in our suite. The massage therapist that comes to you at the inn was the icing on the cake! Many wonderful little shops and resturants just moments from the inn. And of course the beautiful Kentucky horse farms!
