Thank you Jen and Dana for your warm Kentucky hospitality. I loved every day that I was at your farm and wish I didn't have to leave. All the animals were a delight, and I loved riding your well behaved horses. I will be back for sure.

My wife and I went stayed for two nights for our tenth wedding anniversary and it was our first B&B experience. It was, without doubt, perfect. The room was gorgeous breakfast, chosen from a robust menu, was divine. Breakfast conversation with Jen and her daughter Tatiana was charming and fun. The house and grounds are immaculate and Jen is a brilliant instructor when it comes to getting a novice like me on a horse. We had a beautiful morning ride all over the farm and my wife and I both agreed that we couldn't have made a better plan for our anniversary.

We attended the creation museum and then stayed at the First Farm Inn for the night. It was wonderful, warm, cozy and a great breakfast the next morning. The inn keepers showed us all around the historic home, and made us feel right at home. We attended with another couple who had never done a B&B and they were pleasantly surprised, and said they would do a B&B again.

My husband and I stayed at First Farm Inn for 2 nights as part of our anniversary trip. We loved it and wished we could stay longer but we had to get back to our kids. The food was great, the house was clean and in order and Jen was very friendly. The 3 of us took a ride for a good amount of time. While out we were able to gain a lot of information about the horses and their care (we plan to have some in the future). We had never been to a B&B before and this was a great first experience! We plan to return and will share with our friends and family. :)

Our family of 4 stayed in the larger room for a weekend in March in 2013. The weather a bit iffy, a bit of snow on the ground in spots, but warmer than what we left behind in Northern NY. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us, loved the large private bathroom, the books/games/DVDs in library were useful too. I was at a conference at the nearby Creation Museum, so my husband and kids took advantage of the horse back riding and exploring on the farm while I was busy. Oh, and the breakfasts... delicious!

My family and I choose to stay at First Farm as part of a Christmas gift to our 3 children, first time skiing at perfect North just 10 min. away. We couldn't have had a better time. The experience was great for our family in that we were able to relax in a comfy room at First Farm Inn that accommodates 5 with extra space even. Breakfast each morning was great and the kids will never forget the experience of riding horses in the snow (Hallmark moment)! If you like to unplug, enjoy animals, good people, and home cooked breakfast in a short getaway, First Farm lines up well!

I enjoyed some quiet time while my girls had a blast riding the horses, playing with the dog and cats, and swinging on the tree swings. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, fun to talk to. And a wonderful breakfast!

Horseback riding is a magical experience. Learning to control a 1,000+ pound animal and sitting nearly six feet off the ground is a real thrill, even more so if you only weigh 50 pounds! Parents and grandparents love watching their “babies” quickly gain mastery as the ride progresses. Evaluate your child’s maturity level carefully before you schedule riding. Kids must be at least five years old and have the ability to sit up straight and follow directions. A respect for animals, good listening skills and a significant attention span are necessary to enjoy the riding experience. Nervous or inexperienced riders each ride their own horse but are lead by the instructor. Our dog and kitties are child-friendly. We have games, movies and dvds to share with you as well as directions to Lazer Craze, mini-car racing, discounted tickets to the Cinci zoo and Newport Aquarium and more. Our big Treetops room comfortably fits a family of up to five. Discounts for midweek-multiday stays Sunday-Thursday. Call us and we'll come up with a special package for your family.
Share memories of your grandparents’ farm with your grandkids at First Farm Inn. Our old German farmhouse is similar to many in the Midwest, but updated with all the comforts of the new millennium, including WiFi and an outdoor hot tub. Pick two or three grandkids older than 5 and introduce them to the farm lifestyle, show them the barn’s hand-hewn beams and wooden peg construction, watch the neighbor’s cows and goats. Then learn to ride in Kentucky’s horse country. After grooming and tacking up while you learn about horses and how to communicate with them, we ride over the hills and through the woods keeping an eye out for other wild and domesticated creatures. After you make your horse comfortable, stretch out and watch the sun set from the outdoor hot tub. Wake up smelling the delicious all-you-can-eat breakfast. Visit Rabbit Hash General Store and experience shopping in the 1830s. Tour Dinsmore Homestead and Hillforest Mansion. Play board games from our extensive games cabinet or take a break with the movie collection. Check our list of family-owned restaurants or give in and visit one of the many chain restaurants within six miles of us. Families of up to five may share the big Treetops room. Call or email to set up your package. Discounts for multi-day stays Sunday-Thursday. Discounted lift tickets available for Perfect North Slopes, Dec.-Feb.
Spring is spectacular at First Farm Inn. While 100s of daffodils have always surrounded the house and yards, we’ve divided them and planted LOTS of new varieties of crocuses, hyacinths, and interesting colors and textures of plants in the yards around the house to create an even showier display. “Cool Blue Garden” created from stumps and rocks collected on the farm. Need an early spring fix? Breathe in the flowers at Eden Park’s Conservatory – and take time to enjoy the dessert wing, rainforest wing, orchid room and bonsai room. Use one of those first sunny days to explore Boone County’s Arboretum. Feel free to ask for starts -- irises, tall summer phlox, fennel, lots of varieties of flowers to add diversity to your garden. Look for midweek specials or plan a weekend getaway.
