My wife and I went back in August and it was amazing. It is so close to downtown Newport and a quick walk across the bridge is the Reds game. Jim and Jan were awesome and very friendly to us. They told us all about the history of the home and the family and treated us to an amazing breakfast (it ends with ice cream)!! The handmade bath soaps were great and we would highly recommend this B&B!!

Jan and Jim went out of their way to make my daughter's birthday weekend an experience she will never forget. Their personal touches and kind hospitality were a real treat. We felt like we had stepped back in time with the tasteful decor and delicious breakfast. Taylor Gate is an easy walk to Newport on the Levee, the Purple People Bridge, and a great location for anyone who enjoys sketching and historic architecture. I highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed with Jim and Jan just before Christmas. The ambiance of the house with the Christmas decor and the piano player (cd in the piano) made for such a romantic atmosphere. The hosts are so warm and hospitable and provide an array of snacks (cheese, crackers, fruit, wine, chocolates, cookies, etc. . .) in addition to the delicious gourmet breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and the room is elegant. You won't regret staying at Taylor Garden and will probably return for a second trip.

I live about 30 miles outside of Cincinnati but stayed at Taylor Gardens to accommodate a late evening event downtown. Rushing in to change before the event I was met with a cup of hot tea and sweets to fortify me for the evening ahead. Soft music and hospitality allowed me to relax during my rush to go from work mode to dinner mode. Jim even fixed a necklace that I broke during my rush to get ready. Then brought shoes to me to save my poor feet from the 4'" heels I thought I could handle!! Even though the location of the party was within walking distance - Jim offered to come and pick me up after the event - I declined his generosity to drive over to get me. Returning "home" from the event (after midnight) I was greeted by Jan who had a lite refreshment and glass of wine waiting for me. Dispite the late hour they allowed me to put my feet up and gave me a chance to unwind. The next morning I was greeted by a wonderful English breakfast before I had to dash out to meet another weekend obligation. Jan tried to send me on my way with more food but I had to decline as I was so completely satisfied with the wonderful breakfast. What a wonderful place to stay. Jim & Jan are the best!!

You couldn't ask for a better B&B. Beautiful and elegant old house, tastefully decorated with so much to look at. The room was as special as the rest of the house - large, very comfortable four-poster bed, fireplace if you're there in colder weather (we weren't), and little snacks everywhere to munch on - as if you'd be hungry after eating the breakfast they have in store for you! There's a quiet patio in back. Take the time to unwind there for awhile. Jan and Jim couldn't be better hosts. No need is unmet. Here's the best part - the house is located on a quiet, shady street. But it's only two blocks - an easy walk - from Newport on the Levee, with its shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and the Aquarium. And don't miss the Hofbrauhaus just around the corner only a block away. You don't need your car to get around. Stay here. You won't regret it. And you'll want to come back!

Our stay was indescribably wonderful. Jan And Jim are perfect hosts, the rooms are a dream, and I felt like I was formally dining in Downton Abbey!!! Right across the river fron Cincinnati so it is a great location. The History of the home and the area was especially interesting as Jan is a direct descendant !!! A MUST stay.

We found this gem online as a weekend retreat for our anniversary and to attend a wedding. Jan and Jim were very welcoming, opened their home, knew all (or a lot) of history on the home and the general area, and made amazing breakfasts! We wished our stay could have been longer than the 2 night weekend! We will be back when we need time away and don't have the ability to travel far.

Coming from England I wasn't sure what to expect from the American B/B experience but I can honestly say it exceeded all expectations. On entering the bedroom was like going back in time to eras of past English stately homes. After settling in we were offered drinks with cheese and biscuits in the lounge accompanied by piano music. Having gone to Cincinatti to see a Reds game this was also an ideal location to walk to the game which my girlfriend and I did also loaded up with more cheese and biscuits supplied by Jan to see us through the game. Having enjoyed a very comfortable night in the four poster bed and refreshed in the whirlpool bath we appreciated the early morning warm muffins and juice Jan brought up to our room. Breakfast was wonderful, which included fresh fruit, egg souffle and French toast 5 star quality. I could elucidate for quite a while on just how good it was but I recommend you go there yourself to enjoy the hospitality and experince Jan and Jim have to offer at the Taylor Garden! An online review can't possibly express how nice my recent stay at Taylor Garden was.. Jan and Jim were gracious hosts and they clearly love what they do. This is evident in the beautiful home (one suite, which made the stay very private and comfortable), the delicious meals, and their over the top hospitality. I can't wait to return!
