The farmhouse at Bartlett Farm has been in the Bartlett family since it was built in 1784. The house was updated in the 1990’s, while the surrounding farm is a work in progress. The farm has a menagerie of animals that require daily care and attention, including Fallow Deer, cows, ducks, chickens and a bison. This handsome home is without peer with respect to its collection of antiques and its architectural richness. Butternut Farm was built in two stages by Jonathan Hale, beginning in 1720, the year of his marriage. The interior of this classic Colonial house was painstakingly restored to its original condition by innkeeper Don Reid by exposing the original wide brick fireplaces, uncovering the broad pumpkin-pine floorboards and removing paint from the paneling on many of the rooms' walls.
