I love people. I love pampering people, especially ones that need a reprieve from too much work or just a time away from it all. I have a background in nursing, nutrition, Real Estate, and hospitality. I am gifted in interior design, gardening, and love great conversation. Love to travel and to read. I enjoy creating in the kitchen signature dishes with fresh ingredients. My friends have all commented that all of those traits point to the fact that Innkeeping is the perfect venue for me.

Storybook Inn sits back from the street in a world all its own. One has to be here to fully take in the truly beautiful grounds and gardens. The historic home is one of a kind. Truly exquisite decor with service and pampering that makes the guests of Storybook always wish they could stay longer when it is time to go."Gone With the Wind Suite"
There is no plaque that says, "Rhett and Scarlett slept here" but you feel as if they could have! This large two room, very private suite, is a delight to the senses. Elegant but not fussy. Gorgeous tall headboard on this magnificent king bed. Sitting room that attaches is deep scarlet red, with a beautiful original oil painting of Vivian Leigh as Miss Scarletby acclaimed local artist Steve Sawyer. This thick mattress with tempurpedic built right in always gets rave reviews by ALL the guests who have visited the suite. Open the armoire. Watch classic or new movies from the libary on the DVD, or VCR, or catch the news or your favorite network show on Satellite TV. Towel warmer, hair dryer, and deluxe lighted make-up mirror. Chintz sofa, antique desk. Savannah daybed, antique chair, 2 fireplaces, and a large new ceramic tile bath with a large two person shower with dual shower heads. WONDERFUL SUITE
The drawing Room of Storybook Inn is a wonderful place to visit or read a book or play the baby grand piano that is kept in tune. Beautiful 31 foot spacious room with amazing detail. It is a refreshing room and not at all stuffy.

We pay homage to both the North and the South in this border state Civil War era home. There is a painting of President Lincoln on one end and one of General Lee. There is also a Civil War chess set for our guests. Sit here and access your laptop via our high speed internet, or step into the library and sit at the desk or down chairs.
So many visitors comment on the freshness of the rooms and the clean smell as opposed to musty, dusty and old. They also comment on how much light is in the home.
Storybook Inn is a haven of peace and is geared to making our guests feel...well...like they have stepped into a Storybook...a very tastefully decorated one. One B&B critic stopped by recently and said, "This is the cleanest, best decorated B&B that I have seenEnjoy the reflection of the flames on the restored Ash floor as you get cozy on the very comfortable leather sofa or wonderful easy chair with ottoman.Out of view is the cherry armoire that contains TV with satellite, DVD, and VCR. Movies available from the movie library in main house. In warm weather enjoy your coffee or tea on your large private deck with amazing views of the sunrise over a large expanse of acreage.
We pride ourselves on using fresh ingredients. We fresh squeeze our orange juice, our fruit is freshly prepared each morning, our whipped cream is fresh and "real." Our premium ground coffee is organic and loved by our guests. Our water is filtered. Our breads made from scratch, and our entrees freshly prepared each morning. After enjoying our breakfast, complete with beautiful ambience and music, and candle light, one truly feels they have had a "storybook" eating experience. And if you have allergies or special needs, let Elise know. She has a nursing and nutrition background as well, and is sensitive to meet the nutritional needs of you, our cherished guests.Beautiful Storybook weddings take place at the inn.
A garden wedding reception in the spring. The old brick ivy covered wall with the arched doorway is the entry into the "secret garden" that many brides opt to use for their wedding and reception.Beautiful My Fair Lady Suite with it high poster king size bed topped by a Sterns and Foster top of the line mattress set with hypoallergenic [sterile] featherbed is just one of the reasons that guests love this suite. Elegant, bright, welcoming are a few words that describe My Fair Lady suite. With garden views, candles on the hearth, a towel warmer, gorgeous antique French desk, wing chair and ottoman,walk-in closet with mini-fridge, thick robes, DVD, VCR, Satellite TV, a movie library, lighted make-up mirror, CD player with romantic CD's...are all a few reasons that make this one of our most popular suites! But truth to tell, repeat guests stay in different suites and each one is their "new favorite room."
This California couple did not want to leave on this, their 3rd day at the inn. This is one example of the full breakfasts that we serve at the inn. Fresh squeezed orange juice in season [April thru Oct], filtered water, Lemon Poppyseed muffins, Eggs Benedict with REAL hollandaise sauce, Sauteed Russet potatoes, Fresh herbed asparagus, fresh ground organic coffee using filtered water, an assortment of teas and freshly prepared fruit with every meal...i.e...Strawberry Parfait, Fresh sweet melons, Fresh pineapple/Banana/Whipped cream parfait, etc.Ah...Casablanca. Many people's favorite suite! MUCH larger than appears in photo! Golden hued Casablanca has thick sisal wall to wall carpeting, oriental rugs, antique Chesterfield sofa, carved sleigh bed and large armoire, build in cabinetry, walk in closet with mini-frig, thick robes monogrammed with Storybook, large antique writing desk. Leather and rattan chair by fireplace with footstool and side table. Windows going all across room facing wooded park. Bathroom has deep soaking tub, custom curtain on tub, and window. built in cabinetry. Unique "Casablanca" chandelier. Guests say that they want to move into this suite permanently! They also say and I agree, "pictures on the Internet are good, but they don't do the Inn or guest suites justice. Agreed!
"Sir Nicholas" the Inn mascot. Nick will be 2 yrs old in July of 2008. Even non-doggy lovers can't resist this sweet, very mellow fellow. He is also "hypoallergenic" which means he does not shed or cause allergy problems, loves to go for walks with guests, and acts as if he thinks that being an inn dog is a great life.Civil War chest set for our guest's enjoyment. This old Antebellum mansion that houses A Storybook Inn, was home to the same family from 1840's to 1966. The maternal side had fought on the side of the South and the paternal side, on the side of the Union. The war was not discussed by the generations of this family in order to "move on." We honor both sides in this border state, having also a painting of General Robert E. Lee and President Abraham Lincoln in our beautiful drawing room.
A Storybook Inn's dining hall is outstanding. A room so lovely with such rare architectural design, one must see it to appreciate it. With ornately framed oil paintings adorning the walls, large fireplace, the 4 large windows, and original deep coffered ceiling, Bose speakers hidden away on the deep molding, thick Oriental rug, Chippendale banquet table and chairs, 3 individual tables for two, lovely china, crystal, quality flatware...and oh yes, food as lovely to look at as to eat! The double French doors lead to the Victorian screen porch. All of this goes into making this rooms a favorite with guests. With fan windows over the and beside the extra thick, black glossy raised panel front door, this entry way is a fitting front entry to this lovely Inn. The columns remind one that this home was here before the War Between the States took place. Inside, it is a place of welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Come and see for yourself!
The bathrooms are detailed as well as the suites. This, the "Casablanca" bath, has a handmade fringed chandelier from the Middle East, a towel warmer, a soaking tub with shower, built-in original cabinetry, original porcelain floors, lighted make-up mirror, hair dryer, custom drapes and shower 9-foot long shower curtain, custom "Storybook" natural toiletries, and thick premium towels.A Storybook Inn's dining hall is outstanding. Victorian Screened covered veranda much the same way it was over 150 years ago. Faces out to the waterfall fountain in stone faced fish pond and rose gardens. A Storybook Inn in the Spring

Our wonderful guests enjoying one of our fantastic Storybook breakfasts. Wonderfully detailed original oil portrait of Vivian Leigh as Miss Scarlet O'Hara painted just for our Gone With the Wind suite.
