Blue Heron B&B and Retreat Center

The Blue Heron is Victorian style bed and breakfast and retreat center located in rural Kentucky on a 30 acre goat farm. Business and church groups are welcome for day retreats and meetings. Individuals and small groups are invited to enjoy the bed and breakfast overnight. Large quest rooms all have private baths -one with whirlpool. One large suite includes kitchen and sitting area and is located seperate from the main house. Fireplaces on the first floor add extra warmth on a wintery day. A full homecooked breakfast is provided to overnight guests. In spring,the meadows and hillsides are full of wildlife and beautiful wildflowers. Great blue heron and red-tailed hawks soar over the farm. The beautiful surrondings encourage hikes to the meadow or leisurely walks to the waterfall. Library, sunroom and living room are all available to guests. Meeting rooms can accomodate groups up to 40. This remote quiet setting is also great for personal retreats or a weekend away.

    Take I-75 South from Lexington to exit 95 (Winchester/Boonesboro). Turn left at the end of the exit onto 627 going toward Winchester. Go 1.1 miles on 627 and turn right just before Marathon station onto 3377. Go to the end of 3377, approximately 2.8 miles. At the end of 3377,immediately after crossing the railroad, turn left onto 388 or Redhouse Road. Go 1.4 miles on Red House Road to E.Prong Road. Turn right on the E. Prong just before a short bridge. Go 1.2 miles on E. Prong to # 270- will be on the left- look for name on mailbox.

    The Blue Heron Bed & BreakfastOne begins to relax as you drive into the lane.
    Working goat farm is part of the Kentucky Farm stay program. Guests can assist the innkeepers in the care of the goats especially the baby goats (kids) in late spring and summer.Guests can relax in the living room and enjoy the warmth of the fire on a cool day.
    Sunroom where guests are served a full, delicious, savory breakfast. Homemade snacks are available in the evening. Innkeepers will accommodate special dietary needs upon request.Guests have access to the library on the first floor which contains many types of reading material.
    Conference room is a great location for family reunions, church or civic meetings. It can accommodate 25 persons.Heron's Nest suite has a private entrance with private bath, small deck and full kitchen stocked with breakfast foods and evening snacks. It has queen size bed and sleeper sofa. heron's Nest can accommodate up to 6 persons with prior notification; this allows innkeepers to make necessary arrangements. The suite is very comfortable for families, women's group or anyone staying multiple nights and desiring the comfort of eating lunch and dinner in. Breakfast, of course, is provided in the room rate.
