Wonderful experience at CJI during some unusually warm, September days! Enjoyable breakfasts with company of other guests, friendly innkeeper service from all who work there, lovely ambiance. Needed daily AC window unit to run in room during majority of stay, mattress on bed is ok, with beautiful sheets that smelled heavenly. Lovely wicker porch with plenty of windows and a fan, relaxing, daily refreshments to enjoy. All in all, a beautiful, personable, B&B. Would return to visit again!
What a wonderful stay we had at the Maine Stay Inn! Our room was elegantly appointed and spacious; the breakfast each morning was superb. Coffee and tea were available throughout the day, and warm cookies served at tea time! The grounds were immaculate and our hosts were very cordial. We will be there again!
A fun place to stay if you are looking for quaint and historical. As a historical location you should expect a window AC unit and not a modern hotel experience. It added to our experience of the area and John & Kathy were very accommodating hosts. They gave us a good history briefing and a tasty breakfast!
Very pleasant stay at this charming place . Breakfast was always delicious from the frittata to blueberry pancakes and so much more ! Afternoon tea snacks of cheeses and bites were to look forward to. The owner was always present at the site and we learned that this was a dog friendly establishment so definitely in our next visit we will bring our dog. They also have bikes available anytime for use good for a family ride around Kennebunkport. The bedsheets are amazingly soft and comfy thank goodness they have some available for purchase I bought them and took them home as a good reminder of our family week vacation at beautiful Captain Jefferds !
... and as it turns out, the most fun. Not only can John cook up a storm, but Kathy is a gracious hostess who facilitates a nice breakfast conversation. The history of the house, it's character and charm, the friendliness of the host and hostess and the information to be had from Kathy about the whole area is all excellent. Our only regret is we forgot to buy some of her homemade granola to take home with us.
We stayed for the first time this August and were very impressed with Captain Jefferds Inn. First, my wife and I travel a lot and like to stay at nice places. Between us, we probably spend 100-120 nights per year in hotels and resorts. We were super impressed with this Inn for several reasons. First, the location cannot be beaten. You have ample parking and then can walk all overthe Kennebunkport village. Very convenient. Next, the Inn itself is immaculate. You could eat off the floors - literally not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere in the building. That goes for the dining room (breakfast) and sun room where they put out cheese/crackers and baked goods & teas/coffees each afternoon. The people working there were terrific, especially Steve who seemed to genuinely want to help in order to make your stay perfect. The breakfasts were excellent - full cooked breakfasts not just continental. One addition that I think would be nice would be to add a cereal / yogurt / fruit bar. We've seen a lot of B&Bs add this recently and feel it is a nice way to add some choice for the guests. All in all, though, the food quality was top notch. The Inn has good reliable free wifi and bikes you can borrow to explore the outer areas of Kennebunkport (such as the Bush compound, which is only about 1.5 miles away). All in all, we were very happy with our room and the entire stay. We will definitely re-book if we are back in Kennebunkport any time in the future.
I enjoyed my stay tremendously. The innkeepers were wonderful, Waldo their dog was friendly and became a quick new furry friend. I loved the old style rooms, furniture and beautiful quilts. The breakfast was better than perfect. I made some purchases in their quilt shop, and peeked over the fence to the Wedding Cake House. I recommend this wonderful place to everyone. I'll be back! :) C. L. Porter
The Maine Stay Inn exceeded our expectations. The cottage was clean and wonderful.Their location is quiet but a short walk to Dock Square. I would definitely recommend the Maine Stay Inn.
We were greeted by Judi who made us a dinner reservation right away. We went to Bandaloop which she recommended and it was delicious! Our cottage was very tidy and they had a nice plate of cheese and grapes for us. The breakfast the next morning was out of this world. A baked egg dish with spinach, homemade bread and homemade sweet potato hash. Everything is homemade there. The place is immaculate. They told us what beach to go to and gave us towels, too! We will be back.
My fiancée and I spent two nights at the CJI August 2015. I wish I could rate it even higher. We had a top notch experience start to finish. There eye for detail is impeccable. Anything you need for a stellar vacation is at your finger tips. We arrived fairly late and our concierge, Rachel, arranged a last minute dinner reservation for us. She made and cancelled reservations while we were there. Her recommendations for food, drinks, shopping and exploring were spot on. Our breakfasts were a little slice of fine dining. I loved the option of two different eating times. If you want to explore the beach, they will provide you with towels, beach bag, chairs, an umbrella, and beach pass. Bikes are always available for exploring Kennebunkport. Shopping and eating are within a few blocks of the inn. I have no negatives. We stayed in the smallest room, The Hideaway, which fit our needs perfectly. The inn and rooms are spotless and the grounds are beautiful enough to just sit and enjoy the New England air.
The Maine Stay was a wonderful inn near the center of Kennebunkport. Our first floor room had a separate entrance from the outside and a large deck with chairs, table and umbrella. Judi and her staff provided everything we needed and great suggestions on dining.
We've been staying at the Gazebo Inn for weekends for the past 5 years. We just spent our first full week August 8-16 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Our hopes and expectations for a relaxing week were fully met and exceeded. After enjoying a very yummy and filling breakfast (spinach with steak and eggs has always been our favorite), We spent most days enjoying the pool and hot tub set among beautiful flowers. You really forget there is a world beyond the pool area. Peter and Scott and all the staff know just how to balance meeting the needs of their guests without being intrusive. It doesn't get much better than having watermelon delivered to you while your relaxing in the pool. They even think of the small details like having bottles of sunscreen next to ample soft pool towels and bathrobes. Our room (barn 5) was perfect, especially for a full week. There is no shower like it! Speakers built into the ceiling in both the bedroom and shower. This room also has a full size refrigerator with ice maker. We've stayed in other rooms and they are all just as wonderful. Should you decide to leave the grounds there are great restaurants and beaches all nearby. Peter and Scott have always given us great recommendations. It's really difficult to put into words how wonderful the Gazebo Inn is. It is obvious that Scott and Peter enjoy what they do and take pride in the inn and the service they provide to their guests.
