    City

    • Montepulciano

    • Distance to city: 4 miles

    • Directions to property:
Drive the A1 and take the exit marked 'Valdichiana'. After paying the toll, turn left at the roundabout and follow signs for Torrita di Siena. Approaching the town of Torrita di Siena, turn left at the first (and only!) traffic light (after about 5.5km). Continue to a roundabout (about 1km) and take the first right. Follow the road to the top of the hill and around a curve to the left, after 1.4km there is an intersection on the right that is not very obvious. Take a right turn and then an immediate left into a secondary road. Continue for about 3.5km and, having come a long downhill, the road tends to straighten with the town of Montepulciano able to be seen in the distance. Just before a bridge (found amongst a stand of trees), surrounded by vineyards, you'll find Follonico on your left up a short driveway.

This haven made our Tuscan Experience! After two weeks of travelling in Italy and Greece, Follonico was by far our favorite place to stay. Here Fabio and Suzanne made us feel like honored guests. They went out of their way to help us find the best places to visit. They brought us out local specialities while we hung out in the common room, insisted we drag their table outside for the perfect picnic, and found a cake for my husband when they found out it was his birthday! The rooms are so artfully designed with excellent mattresses, sheets, and towels. Everything feels new, yet comfortable. When we had to drive back though Tuscany later in our trip, my husband wanted to stop in just to say hi, that is how we felt after leaving. If we ever stay in Tuscany again, there would be no other option but to return to this retreat.

When we were searching for accommodation on our recent Tuscan holiday we came across the website for this B&B - the photos are stunning, and I was delighted to say that unlike previous experiences did not oversell or the reality disappoint. The countryside and views from Follonico are beautiful, the rooms beautifully presented and cleaner than clean! The hosts are wonderfully friendly and could not do enough for us. The breakfasts were much more substantial that the usual cappucino and croissant found in most Italian B&B's, and in comparison to most B&B's in the area is really quite reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Follonico to anyone wanting a taste of the 'real' Tuscan experience.
