A splendid 18th-century villa set in leafy grounds with palms, rare plants and trees over a hundred years old was once part of the old Bourbon pheasant-shooting retreat connected to the Royal Palace in Portici. Portici is a good starting-point to explore sites of archaeological interest and great natural beauty; the ruins of Herculaneum and Pompeii and Sorrento and Naples and the enchanting islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. 3 Rooms each with private bath and television. Amenities: Parking available. In-room or on-deck coffee/tea, laundry facilities, sitting rooms, library, beautiful antiques. Gift shop on site. A B&B that looks and acts like a five star hotel. Great location...between Napoli and Sorrento. Just a good walk to the Herculanum (sp?) excavation site (better than Pompeii). Beautiful gardens and terrific hosts. Gotta go!
