Passing through Valdicastello Carducci and crossing a small bridge, a hundred meters down our small country road, the Piovane valley of Valdicastello opens up; and surrounded by ancient olive and chestnut groves you have arrived at ALMORA. Almora has a long history of several centuries, included in Italy's first land registry of 1791, it was lived in until the early 1970's in it's original state, without electricity or running water. Restored in 2009 by sculptor Kyleann Smith and restauranteer Dado Bigoni utilizing eco-compatible materials for both the building and the furnishings to maintain the original charming rustic Tuscan atmosphere. You'll enjoy the spacious rooms with wood beams and terracotta floors, beautiful bathrooms, eco-design beds with 100% organic cotton sheets and linens, relaxing atmosphere and abondant breakfasts of home made bread and cakes made daily with all natural local organic products. By bus or car, within five minutes you are in Pietrasanta, international center of art and artists, drawn by its marble studios, bronze foundries and the skill of the local artisans... and a moment later you are at the seaside or in the beautiful Apuan Alps.

The accomodation looked too good to be true on the website, but proved to be exactly as described. A bit tricky to reach, but the drive up the hillside was part of the charm of this property. We stayed in the suite which was beautifully restored, plenty of space for a family of 4. Kyle and Dado proved to be wonderful hosts. Would definitely stay there again. Many thanks! Kim

The most discerning worldly traveler would appreciate this inn because the restoration of this house is truly amazing in how the original charm of the building is preserved yet with all modern facilities. It is all very tastefully done and simple. There are several comfortable outdoor sitting areas where we got a sense of peace, tranquility and contentment. The artwork (by Kyle, the owner) is wonderful and well displayed everywhere. We were pleasantly surprised that the place seen in reality is even better than the photos. The homemade cake by Dado is fresh, light and quite delicious. Above all, we were very impressed with the owners who were most kind, hospitable and accommodating to us while there. We highly recommend this B&B and look forward to going back there when we are in Tuscany.

Private, stunning mountainside Tuscan home built in the 1700's. Restored to it's original beauty in a simple serene way. Hosts are young, worldly and kind and prepare fresh bread, homemade preserves and delicious breakfasts. Fireplace roaring at night with a bottle of chianti and olives plucked from the trees outside. Perfectly located for day trips anywhere in Tuscany.
