Rendola Riding is a small organic farm in the Chianti hills overlooking the Arno valley. It is easy to reach by car or by train, but when you get there you feel you are entering a different world… Rendola Riding was founded in 1969 by Jenny Bawtree, an Englishwoman enamoured of horses and Tuscany, and has since become a well-known Horseback Riding and Farm Holiday Centre. Situated at a thousand feet above sea-level on the slopes of the Chianti hills, it has marvellous views over the Arno valley. Guests stay in a lovingly restored Tuscan farmhouse. Some come to go horseback riding or walking, others to visit the art cities of Florence, Arezzo and Siena, and also the hidden treasures of “Minor Tuscany”. Yet others come simply to escape the stress of city life and take refuge in this oasis of tranquillity. Rendola Riding is not a luxurious villa, nor a country house hotel: as it is a family home the atmosphere is informal and friendly. Our guests become our friends and often return time and time again.

Innkeepers Description:
As I have a riding centre, I obviously like riding, particularly in this wonderful countryside with so many trails and no gates, but I like walking, too. Having helped to write the autobiography of a peasant farmer, Peter's Book (Arcadia publishing, 2003), I am very interested in local agriculture and traditions. I am also interested in medieval and Renaissance art and architecture.
