My husband and I stayed here for our 1-year wedding anniversary and it was all we could hope for! The Turquoise Room was beautiful and so comfortable and welcoming. The owners were so friendly and offered a great German breakfast...so much food that we had no room for lunch. Little touches here and there, like a wine hour, chocolates everywhere, water, sodas and treats in the room, and the guest names listed on the chalkboard out front made us feel special and welcome during our entire visit.

My boyfriend and I decided on a Friday night, after a hard week at work, that we wanted to get out of DC and head down to the Shenandoah Valley for a weekend getaway. We booked South Court Inn for Saturday night and jumped in the car early Saturday morning. This was our first B&B and it was a wonderful experience! Everything was clean, beautifully furnished/ decorated, which Anita did herself. The breakfast was much fancier and high-end than we were expecting. Tom and Anita gave us history lessons on their plate ware, old-time etiquette and drew their menu inspiration from actual historic menus. The descriptions enriched our experience, and maybe even made the food taste better! The room was very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. We had a great night's sleep! Overall- we really couldn't have planned it any better if we had spent more time.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was the perfect balance of comfort and privacy. The breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday was amazing; I have tried and failed to make the pumpkin spice french toast at home. Tom and Anita went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to make sure our trip was perfect. We decided to try the wine trail, and we had an wonderful time relaxing at the different wineries. We will definitely be staying at the South Court Inn again. We cannot thank Tom and Anita enough for making our first vacation so wonderful!

Tom and Anita are fabulous hosts. The room was comfortable. A welcome snack basket and mini fridge with sodas and water were nice perks we've not experienced before. Meals were FABULOUS -- looked great, tasted great, and were unique. The Thanksgiving package included dinner at the Mimslyn Inn in Luray. It was a delicious dining experience. Tom even made us pumpkin pie and yummy apple pastries for our second dessert! Great coffee to drink with the BEST PUMPKIN FRENCH TOAST made with croissants. Every course, from fruit to dessert, was what I would expect from a fine dining establishment. Tom and Anita have all the bases covered for a marvelous B and B experience. We've been going to B and B's for 10+ years for birthdays and anniversary, and South Court Inn with Tom and Anita Potts rates in the top 3 of all times.

We had a spectacular Friday/Saturday evening and Sunday morning stay at the South Court Inn. Our room was spacious and cozy; the interior of the house was full of interesting antiques, furniture, and decor, and they boasted one of the most massive dining room tables I have ever encountered. Breakfast was elegant and delightful on the taste buds. The Banana Foster topping for my french toast melted in my mouth, and left me salivating for more. The innkeepers even offered to cook additional eggs for those who required additional nourishment or wanted an alternative to the stated breakfast on the menu. We would absolutely stay here again...it really took our stay to the next level!

My husband and I recently visited South Court Inn while doing some hiking in the area. We loved our time there. The house was beautiful with great attention to detail. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable after a long day of hiking. Tom, the innkeeper, makes an amazing breakfast and loves to share the background of the dishes as well as talking about history of the house and the area over coffee. We look forward to a return visit.

I reviewed many different places for us to get married and we picked this one. With the court house right down the street, we picked up the papers, got married and Tom filed our paper work. As for the value, you cannot get everything we did for such a great price. And lets not forget the great hospitality.

We recently were married at the Inn, and our experience with Tom and Anita was exceptional. They took care of all the details and were very professional, which meant that we had a stress free day. We stayed three nights and the bed was amazing! The whirlpool tub was also a nice treat. But, the thing that put everything over the top were the amazing breakfasts Tom had for us every morning. The entire trip exceeded our expectations and we will recommend the Inn to our family, friends, and total strangers. Plus, we will definitely be going back at some time in the future.

Not bad, actually very nice. We stayed in cottage which is adjacent to main home. Cottage was aces. It was clean and the airconditioning worked well. Nice patio in back yard for me to smoke my cigar. TV worked and had 500 channels. Best part was breakfast. Tom was a great cook and I especially liked his homemade fruit spread. Also, close to Skyline Drive which is a must see. - Steve & Ronnie Lissner

My husband surprised me with a lovely get-a-way and we were spoiled at the South Court Inn. Along with the various treats of our anniversary package, every morning, we indulged in Tom's (the innkeeper's) marvelous culinary skills. Anita and Tom, both, shared wonderful history of the inn and the surrounding areas with us. The inn is nicely decorated and the grounds are beautiful. Anita and Tom were very personable and they made us feel right at home. We highly recommend staying here when visiting the area.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary here and it was also our very first stay at a B&B. It was a wonderful experience. The house is so beautiful and the couple who own and operate the B&B enjoy sharing the history of the house. The breakfasts were awesome, and we left the table very full, no need of even eating lunch. The whole stay was unique and they will be seeing us again.

WOW!!! Simply beautiful.. We decided to marry here honestly after seeing all the pictures posted online and the many wonderful reviews. Tom made us feel very welcomed and was there if we needed him. We married the same day we arrived and I was so nervous, I remember telling Tom as we arrived I was nervous I was going to screw the vows up, he reassured me he hasn't lost anyone and he doesn't plan on it. We had an amazing ceremony, thanks so much to Tom & Anita! Tom made us wonderful french toast in the am, we loved it!! We definately plan to return for our 1 year anniversary but this time we are staying longer. This was a perfect getaway- can't say how much I loved it! After reading all the reviews that South Court has received the only thing I am bothered by are the few reviews that were poor. They refer to Tom demanding payment as you entered, I can say as we entered we were welcomed and eventualy we paid- honestly every hotel we have been in when walking in the door you pay, so that was normal. Another thing people say they talk and talk re: what they did to the place and the renovations. Yes they did but in a tasteful way, we were interested in learning what we could. They not once overwelmed us or bothered us. Maybe because we are people that actually have respect for others and their property that we had no issus at all. Tom and Anita are very accomodating and very friendly. The only thing I am disappointed in is that we didn't stay longer and couldn'r because the cottage was already rented for the day we were leaving but next year, we will be there longer for sure, no doubt!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR WEDDING MEMORABLE FOR US!!

I spent my entire life dreaming of an elegant wedding. As we attempted to make this dream come true we were faced with the reality of the cost and burden this type of an event would place on newlyweds. We decided to elope. In my search for a romantic spot I discovered the South Court Inn. The Innkeepers, Tom and Anita Potts asked us what type of event we were looking for. The South Court Inn provided me with an elegant wedding that far exceeded my dreams. The Innkeepers went above and beyond with a tremendous amount of details to make my dreams become a reality. Our stay at South Court Inn was perfect in every way. This magical event will remain forever etched in our minds!

Tom and Anita are wonderful wedding/romance angels sent by God :) I honestly don't know how they do it all. But they are absolutely amazing. We got married April 17, 2011 at South Court and stayed 2 nights in the cottage. Tom made breakfast on time every morning at 9 a.m. sharp. We loved how he explained where his food ideas and silverware originated, since we love to learn about history. The cottage we stayed in was the best ever in comfortability, cleanliness, and privacy. We couldn't stay out of the hot tub, it was just so soothing. Our wedding was everything we could have asked for and much more. We wanted to keep it simple, elegant and reasonable. And Tom and Anita allowed us to do that by focusing on just us. I recommend South Court to everyone and anyone that will listen.

This was our second stay with Tom and Anita and it was even better the second time. We have stayed at many B&B's over the years, and many have been very nice places and we’ve had wonderful experiences but none measure up to the experience of South Court. The house is beautiful and magnificently decorated but still very comfortable. The food is sensational and is prepared and presented perfectly every time. The hospitality is truly second to none, as Tom and Anita give their warmth and attention, but allow you to ‘make yourself at home’ and provide you the space and privacy you often desire. The rooms (or the cottage, which we prefer) are comfortable and very well appointed. And the town is lovely, quaint and romantic. South Court is beautiful, amazing hospitable, very romantic, and… well… perfect.

We stayed at the South Court Inn for 3days/2nights and loved every second of it. The location is beautiful and the service is friendly as well as top-notch. Our stay was during the Fall and it was great to see the mountains with the foliage. The couple that run the inn were always available for advice on where to go and what to do in the area; not to mention their informative and entertaining stories and local history tidbits. The room was exceptional clean and breakfast was superb each morning (fresh produce and meats).

My husband and I stayed at the South Court Inn's cottage, which is a few steps away from the main house. We were both in much need of complete relaxation and the opportunity to sleep in. Mr. Potts brought the breakfast to the cottage for us every morning! THAT was such a much appreciated treat for us! The gourmet breakfast was fantastic - definitely don't want to miss the breakfasts. After hiking on the mountains (entrance to the Shenandoah is only 15 mins away from the B&B), we would come back to the cottage and have our afternoon coffee (which is full flavored and rich like proper coffee should taste :). At night, we went out to the backyard and looked at stars- if you live in the city you will appreciate this magical opportunity of seeing a sky filled with bright stars. After dinner we would soak in the hot tub and just let the hot water melt the stress away. We left South Court Inn rejuvenated and refreshed. Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Potts!

What a pleasant discovery on our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast! Beginners' luck I suppose. Luxury and pampering in the little things sure go a long way. Genuine hospitality, no expense spared in atmosphere and comfort, and gourmet cooking leave the hotel experience in the dust! It's a no-brainer! Highly recommended to the hotel-weary traveller, and obviously a great choice for romantic memory making!

We had signed us up with the full elopement package and was on cloud nine. Well what ever is above cloud nine is just what we found at the South Court Inn Bed and Breakfast. Tom and Anita Potts are two wonderful and genuine good souls who take great care to provide you with a beautiful home for you to stay in and offer your soul to rest and understand the true meaning of heaven on earth. Mrs. Potts does not like to think of her home as a museum but I can’t find a proper adjective good enough to describe her beautiful home. Her hand crafting and eye for decorating in the venue of the Victorian era of which the house was built is extremely amazing. The landscaping is just as impressive as well the wedding pavilion. Mr. Potts was wonderful with offering assistance to my wife from booking the package and all throughout the many correspondence made until our arrival. Once I met him I realized he is a man among men. Aside from his above average caring about all aspect of your enjoyment for the duration of your stay, he is a first class chef designing the most wonderful melt in you mouth but never leaving your mind breakfast’s, he is a first class photographer and a person of his word. I am so happy to have found these two people. South Court Inn Bed and Breakfast is not just a place to get away from it all, it is a place to find it all. Good loving people in Mr. and Mrs. Potts, Great comfort in a home, not just a room, and a home in which you feel welcome, amazing breakfast, wonderful views of the mountains, A beautiful home, wonderful care to detail the provide you with a lasting memory weather a wedding like ours or just a stay for a day or weekend. And I just can’t say enough about the two most wonderful people, great souls and loving couple, Mr. and Mrs. Potts. I would be honored to have them call me friend and I will return to see them again and again!

My husband and I spent a weekend at the South Court Inn B&B to celebrate our anniversary and our birthdays. We live in the DC area and were looking to get completely away from the city life for a few days of slower paced living. We wanted to stay in the Shenandoah Valley so we could visit several wineries and the South Court Inn in Luray was one of the first B&Bs that came up when I researched B&Bs in the area. What a great find! The innkeepers, Tom & Anita Potts, were beyond helpful as I corresponded with them during the weeks leading up to our stay. Tom kindly made reservations for us at one of the most popular restaurants in Luray, the Artisan Grill, even though I only asked about the reservation the day before we arrived. The night of our reservation, the restaurant was very crowded and my husband and I were able to be seated at a table right away. If not for Tom, we would have been waiting 45 minutes for a table. The breakfasts each morning were beyond delicious. Tom and Anita were very friendly and would tell stories of how they came to own the house and their journey of making it into a bed and breakfast. The house was decorated in Victorian era fashion and looked very authentic. The curtains throughout the house were actually hand-made by Anita. Everything about our stay at the South Court Inn was enjoyable and the atmosphere was exactly what my husband and I were looking for. I would recommend the South Court Inn to anyone who wants to get away from the busyness of life and enjoy friendliness, amazing food, and to discover a wonderful little town. We will definitely be making another trip back to the South Court Inn!

Gracious accomodations and hospitality. Outstanding breakfasts! We stayed in the 2-story cabin, which was fully-appointed. Tom's custom ground morning coffee was a great waker-upper. Other than the bed being a bit soft for my back, we couldn't have asked for more. Also, Tom's pointers about the best time to be on the Skyline Drive, and to visit the Caverns was really helpful and enabled us to make the best use of our time. Tom and Anita work hard at anticipating their guests' needs. Very memorable stay. - Jamie and Lynn, Aug 2010

Inkeepers Tom and Anita Potts have created a charming and comfortable private cottage for two next to their beautiful Victorian B&B in Luray, VA. Staying in the cottage offers the option of partaking in the breakfast offered at the B&B. We did not utilize this option, but were presented with a lovely blackberry breakfast cake that was delicious. We were accorded the privacy that we wished to have, but were welcomed to avail ourselves of their hospitality and services -- which also include discount coupons for wine tastings in the area, sample menus, provision of ground coffee, ice, and restaurant reservations. The B&B had a large DVD library that we could have used in our cottage as well as a selection of books that could be read. The cottage is tastefully decorated in a country French style. The towels provided are huge, and greatly appreciated when using the whirlpool. The mattress is very comfortable. The fairly private back patio provides shade for most of the day, and also offers an full sun area as well. We plan to return and recommend this cottage to our friends who want to get away without kids.

We decided to get married about a month ago, and to make it special and personal we wanted to elope and do so in a beautiful setting. We couldn't have picked a better place. It was lovely. Tom and Anita were helpful and gracious, and the ceremony was perfect. As for the room, it was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We stayed in the Margaret Bland room. I've worked in Hotels so I have a rather high standard when it comes to rooms and their care. It was spotless. The towels were pristine and I was even supplied with make-up remover towelettes. The spa tub was huge and perfect for two. I don't think there was anything about the room or my stay that wasn't great. Then of course there is breakfast. Absolutely the best French toast I've ever had. Hands down. (Of Course, my new husband claims it's second only to mine, but he's bias.) His favorite thing about our stay was hearing about the extensive restorations that Mr and Mrs Potts have done on the house. I missed that though I was preparing for the wedding.

I cant say enough about the breakfasts! The Bananas Foster French Toast was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had! It will be hard to beat...but I look forward to returning and seeing what else Mr. Potts cooks up. We look forward to returning next year and relishing the experience all over again.

We were looking for an alternative to the high dollar wedding, due to both the economy as well as the practical impossibility of gathering family and friends scattered nationwide. We remembered our visits to Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and stumbled upon this beautiful Bed & Breakfast quite by accident online. We knew immediately this was the right place for us. Anita & Tom patiently corresponded with us concerning the details of the event, and went out of their way to create the perfect atmosphere my bride to be had envisioned. Their quiet reserves of patience combined with a healthy sense of humor provided reassurance and comfort to our prenuptial nerves. The Victorian era that permeated throughout the house was the perfect backdrop to the wedding and fostered a romantic aurora for the honeymoon. The Ultimate Wedding package they offered was ideal; from the customized ceremony to the pictures & videos they provided, from the wonderful gourmet breakfast to the dinner at a local upscale establishment, from tickets to the famous Luray Caverns to Champagne Goblets fit for an aristocrat. We highly recommend this B&B to everyone we meet as the perfect romantic getaway for any occasion.

There is very little I can say that hasn't already been said. This place is amazing from the second you check in to the moment you check out you are made to feel special and welcomed. The house is beautifully restored to a 1890's decor with modern amenities. Every detail in the house and in the guest rooms was thoughtfully implemented. Despite the beautiful house rich with history and ornate details you were never left feeling like you were staying at a museum. The rooms themselves were very tastefully done with a focus on keep guest feeling comfortable while maintaing a victorian charm. The bed, sheets, blankets, and towels were of the highest quality. Breakfast every morning was deliciously unique and memorable served family style with the other guests. This place is vegetarian and vegan friendly if you notify them ahead of time. Anita and Tom were gracious hosts both were extremely friendly and social. At any time they were very eager to share local recommendations

Tom and Anita Potts went out of their way to make our Wedding Day special for us, exceeding anything we had imagined. From the initial ease of making the arrangements, to our actual weekend getaway, it was a wonderful experience. The home was very beautiful, and the room truly romantic. Our Wedding Day was rainy, but Tom and Anita made wonderful accommodations for us indoors, which proved to be a very moving and touching ceremony. We did not have any guests, but having Tom and Anita there gave us the sense that our family was there. The pictures were lovely and we are truly thankful for our experience at South Court Inn. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we have already booked for our First Anniversary next year. The home is just that, a home. Tom and Anita opened their home and their hearts to us, making us truly feel welcome. We recommend this experience to anyone wanting to get away to a beautiful location and enjoy respite in this wonderful B&B. The food was amazing and the service better than most 4 star restaurants. It was such a great setting to have breakfast each morning, with a touch of elegance to let each guest know how special they are. Thank you, Tom and Anita. You made our Wedding Day a very memorable and magical experience. We will see you next year!

The house was beautiful, filled with antiques and worth exploring. The cottage we stayed in was very clean. It had a Jacuzzi for two and an electric fire place. It was very cozy and comfortable. Hot breakfast was delivered to us and was very good. Very private, romantic and the Inn keepers were very friendly and accommodating. We came to elope and have a romantic time together. It was even better than we expected. Our two person wedding felt as elegant as if we had a big wedding. The pictures came out like a professional photographer took them. We weren't prepared with vows and the ones they gave us to say to each other were beautiful. We had an awesome wedding night dinner included in the price. I would recommend this anyone who wants a wedding without the hassle or needs a romantic getaway.

We had such a romantic time. Our wedding was perfect all the way down to each little detail. We loved the fact that we didn't have to worry about a thing. The dining recommendations were outstanding. Tom and Anita were the greatest with making sure everything was perfect. Can't wait to visit on our annisversary!!!

We were looking for a comfortable place to host a stress-free wedding with six family members. Luckily we came across the South Court Inn while searching our options on-line. They offered everything we wanted and Tom took our reservation by phone without any issues. Mr. Potts followed up on a few details by email and always responded quickly to our messages. The service was very professional. It had rained all morning before the wedding but Tom already had everything moved into the house and setup for a beautiful ceremony next to the fireplace. Our six guests were blown away at how cozy and relaxing the South Court Inn was on the inside. No detail was missed and Tom took over 100 professional quality photos. Mrs. Potts even had the CD and DVD ready within 30 min. All the flowers were fresh cut and prepared by a local florist. The wedding cake was delicious and also came from a local bakery. I can’t even imagine how much money and time we saved by planning our wedding at the South Court Inn. Initially we were going to have a traditional church ceremony but the details got overwhelming and we were completely stressed out. That’s when I called Tom about elopement options. He only asked me five questions and voila’ we had a wedding.

My fiance and I found this B&B off the internet. The reviews were great. We planned our wedding at the Inn. Mr. Potts was very detailed in his emails. When the day arrived it was everything as planned. Mrs. Potts was just as nice as Mr. Potts and the pictures that were taken turned out fabulous! The cake was delicious and the flowers were beautiful. We stayed in the Margaret Bland room, we loved the chandelier type light that hang from the ceiling and the option to dim the lights. The breakfast was outstanding and Mr. Potts made every effort to help with the lactose intolerance my fiance has. We are both very pleased to have choosen the Inn for our special day. Only thing we would have changed was we wished we had booked two nights instead of one! This was our first time at a B&B but have to say it is going to be hard to top this!

I love B&Bs, and there are so many things that go into making a stay at one a great experience---rooms, breakfast, location, owners. The South Court Inn excels at all of these! The rooms are all lovely and luxurious. The location is ideal in the quaint town of Luray with the Caverns, Skyline Drive, excellent restaurants, and wineries all right nearby. I've had some great breakfasts at other B&Bs, but Tom Potts really goes out of his way to serve up gourmet deliciousness! Croissant french toast, fresh fruit compote, profiteroles with berry sauce. Yum. But really, the best part of the South Court Inn, as it should be with any great B&B, is the ownership. Tom and Anita are warm, friendly, and passionate about ensuring their guests have a great time in the area and leave happy. Even before we arrived, Tom answered a ton of questions via email and gave great advice about places to eat and wineries to stop at on the way. I highly recommend the South Court Inn as the ideal place to stay while you explore the area! We definitely plan on going back.

For our 25th anniversary, our children arranged a getaway for us to the South Court Inn. They could not have picked a nicer destination. From the moment we arrived, Tom and Anita made us feel as welcome as family and as special as royal guests. They took care of our every need and were sincere in their desire to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The inn is fabulously decorated and furnished in authentic Victorian style. The grounds are well manicured. Everything is clean and well kept. Breakfast is a very special event. Tom’s gourmet fare is complimented by the period utensils and an assortment of turkey themed tableware. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere enchanting. Proximity to Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns, and some very fine wineries make the South Court Inn a great place to experience the best of what Virginia has to offer.

My boyfriend took me to see Luray Caverns for my birthday and after much research he chose South Court Inn for our overnight stay. The B&B is close to the caverns and Main Street but secluded enough to feel like a getaway. The landscaping is beautiful and inviting and parking is not an issue. We were greeted by Tom Potts, who was so well organized, prepared and helpful for our stay. Upon arrival, he had a printout of the personalized itinerary my boyfriend had planned for us. There was helpful information and directions for each item. Tom gave us the fascinating history of their beautiful home which I believe is part of the personal appeal of B&Bs. You can tell the Potts take great pride in their home and in their B&B services. We stayed in the Margaret Bland room which was beautifully decorated, not over the top. We enjoyed the king size bed, soft sheets, large TV, luxurious bathrobes and bath towels, and whirlpool tub. We also enjoyed in-room massages which I highly recommend! The next say, we were a little late for the 9am breakfast but the Potts did not seem bothered. The souffle was still warm and delicious! Quite an ambitious meal when Tom could have easily just served us something simple. It was quite a treat! The fresh strawberries and peaches were ripe and sweet. The pastry dessert with berry sauce was delicious as well. We truly felt like welcome guests in Tom and Anita's home and they made our stay very memorable! My boyfriend and I agree that South Court Inn is the best B&B we've stayed at and that it certainly lived up to it's great reviews.

My fiance and I had been looking for a couple of months for a venue for our wedding when we discovered The South Court Inn. From the day that we booked our package and families rooms Tom and Anita were more than helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure I had the dream wedding I have always wanted and a wonderful mini-honeymoon. The services and accommodations for the wedding were perfect. Tom and Anita were caring and professional. The rooms and Inn were beautiful, the food great, and the hospitality unrivaled. My family and in-laws all shared the same wonderful time and all would like to go back. We were there a week ago and are already planing next years trip to go back. I still can not belive the luck I had in finding The South Court Inn. I recommend it for any couple looking to get away and have a little fun mixed into the romance.

My husband and I wanted a relaxing weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary, and found all we could have wanted at the South Court Inn. The lovingly restored Victorian home has a peaceful, private, nicely landscaped setting, and sufficient off-street parking for all guests. Our room (Margaret Bland) was elegantly decorated, spacious and comfortable … even included a recliner and TV, amenities not often found at a B&B. The service was impeccable. Innkeepers Tom and Anita Potts were very welcoming and responsive to our requests and questions about the area. They arranged for tickets to the nearby caverns, made dinner reservations for us at a local restaurant, and provided maps and info on local attractions. The highlight of the weekend, however, was breakfast! Tom is a superb chef, and it is evident that his recipes and menus have been meticulously developed. The soufflé seasoned with fines herbs and the banana-stuffed croissant French toast were both delicious and beautifully presented. Plus, their specially blended coffee was so good, we bought some to bring home. If you are looking for peace and privacy, great service, and wonderful food, this is the place for you!

My wife and I spent a wonderfully relaxing three days there. We were in the cottage behind the main building, which features a hot tub, kitchen, patio, and big-screen TV with DVD. It was quiet, private, and beautifully appointed with a French flair--just what we were looking for. It's located on a quiet street right in town, convenient to Luray's shops, galleries, parks, and restaurants. The breakfasts were superb, the ornate Victorian ambience elegant. Tom, our gracious host, is a treasure trove of history and happy to share the property's development from a private residence to its current restored glory. One of our best B&B experiences ever!

We stayed in the Margaret Bland room and it was comfortable and well kept. Breakfast each morning (remember we had 5 breakfasts) was delicious. We have been to a couple B&B's and this was one of the best. The food was amazing, and a great added touch was Tom and Anita's knowledge of their victorian home and how they lived, as they described it to us during our meals as we ate with many of the same dish's as they did. Food was filling and very yummy! Not that we could eat more, but Tom and Anita were more than willing to cook up more for us. The house was renovated to look back to the victorian style and it made the setting. The room, Emma Glenn, was a quaint room with a 200 year old bed! It was comfy and made us feel like we were "back in time". We enjoyed live music by I assume the locals at the corner of Main street in town saturday night outside at the BB&T Center for the Arts.

We booked a wedding package and the innkeepers Tom and Anita made sure that the event was special beyond our wildest dreams. The ceremony was elegant and every detail was addressed. The Margaret Bland room was absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail at this beautiful inn is very apparent from the moment you drive up the driveway. Breakfast each morning is an event all its own. The food is delightful. The conversation about the victorian era as it pertains to the inn and the decor of South Court is very intresting. Waking to the wonderful sounds of music playing in the home was so a elegant touch. Thank you Tom and Anita for making our weekend wedding get away a truly special event.

We enjoyed our time at the South Court Inn. Tom and Anita were gracious hosts that were very accommodating in service and friendliness. In fact, they accidentally double-booked our original room that we were planning on staying in, but to make up the difference they paid our way at a very fine restaurant and gave us another excellent room. It made for a nice evening out on the town. The breakfasts we had were good, and the house is refinished in beautiful style. The gardens outside are also well kept and make the whole place look upscale. We toured the Luray Caverns, some of the better caverns that I have seen as well as took advantage of Shenandoah National Park located just down the road. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in the Margaret Bland room which was very nice. The bathroom was a little small for the room, but it was nice considering it was retrofit into an old house. The bed was a comfortable king. Overall it was a great experience for my wife and my first year anniversary.

South Court Inn provided my wife and I a great weekend getaway with the opportunity to renew our vows. Their attention to detail was superb as the package was even better than described. We had an excellent time in Luray exploring the town, the caverns and enjoying all the wonderful items that came along with our vow renewal package. Everything about the ceremony itself was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The vows used were beautifully written, the pictures provided appear professionally done, the cake was delectable, and the location for the renewal ceremony was stunning. All that was the ceremony itself and did not include the gifts, massage, and flowers which set the romantic mood for the weekend. It was a great weekend that will be an exceptional memory for my wife and I forever.

My husband and I just got back from eloping to Luray, Va. I found South Court Inn on line. I wanted an elopement package that included everything and they had it. We chose the "Elope to Luray, Virginia" Marriage and Honeymoon Package” plus stayed an additional night. The first night we stayed in the Mary Kennard room. Very beautiful! The bed and pillows were super comfy! The 2nd and 3rd night, we moved to the Susie Hodges Cottage. Again, very beautiful and the bed and pillows were super comfy. Each morning, breakfast was scrumptious! They served a different entrée each day. We had blueberry pancakes, frittata, and stuffed French toast, all scrumptious! They also make a fruit dish every morning. My husband said it was the best fruit salad he ever ate. Now he’s on a quest to figure out how they made the sauce that went on it. Restaurants in town were all excellent! On the night of the wedding we ate at The Victorian Inn (included in the elopement package). It was soooooo good. The innkeepers took almost 100 pictures of us on our wedding day and we had the CD and wedding DVD in our room about 5 minutes after the ceremony. They are very organized and have eloping down to a science! If you want an inexpensive, stress free, romantic wedding day this is the place for you. We want to go back for our 1 year anniversary. Also, the court house were you need to get your marriage license is right down the block. That was super easy too. You only need a drivers license and you need to know both of your parent’s full names (first, middle, last). That’s it. We picked up our official marriage license on our way out of town.

My husband and my parents and I spent a night at the South Court Inn B & B during our trip through the Shanendoah Valley. The home is BEAUTIFUL, the rooms are really comfortable, the innkeepers were gracious, the food was fantastic. We purchased an anniversary package for my parents who were celebrating 40 years - they were treated with a dozen red roses, personalized robes, crystal champagne flutes to take home, a special dessert, etc. It was a wonderful treat for them and for us. Mr. Potts, the inkeeper, sent us a list of fun things to do in and around Luray prior to our visit so we were able to plan our trip well. We had a wonderful time. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My fiancé and I decided to go to a Bed & Breakfast for our 6 year anniversary. It was our first time trying this. We arrived at the Inn a couple of hours early and were welcomed by the nice Innkeepers. They gave us a tour of everything and allowed us to check-in early which was very accommodating. This particular Inn has a separate cottage as well as private rooms in the Main Home. We decided on the cottage as it had a lot of nice features including a kitchen, Jacuzzi tub, fireplace, big TV's, comfortable furniture and a nice, cozy upper level bedroom. The main home was absolutely gorgeous. If you like Victorian history and beautiful antiques this is the place for you! Each morning we had breakfast in the main home where we had a chance to meet with the other guests and learn more about the Inn and how it came about. The meals were very good, the banana croissants in particular! The location of the Inn was perfect. The town of Luray has quite a few restaurants, fancy and informal. There are also the typical fast food restaurants nearby. We did a lot of sightseeing and visited Luray Caverns for the first time. Overall this place was wonderful. The Innkeepers were great, very nice and personable. We definitely plan to visit again in the spring and fall.

We chose South Court Inn for it's location and price but were pleasantly surprised by it's beauty. We were married in the main house of the inn by the innkeeper and it was a wonderful ceremony in front of the fireplace. We stayed in the cottage, separate from the main house, and enjoyed the comfort and privacy as well as the luxary! Every room is decorated in the fashion of the Victorian era. The food was amazing and the innkeepers warm and friendly. I recommend the South Court Inn as a romantic getaway or a place to unwind and relax.

This B&B is a charming, astoundingly decorated high Victorian-style home in a beautiful part of the Shenandoah Valley. The room we selected had a beautiful four-poster bed and a two-person hot tub - the (advertised) lack of a shower was charming, if perhaps just a tiny bit inconvenient for washing hair. The decorations were lovely and the owners' hospitality was very fine. The breakfasts were outstanding - gourmet quality - stuffed croissant French toast, omelets with fancy French herb blends, and the like! We staggered out of breakfast each morning. It was a wonderfully quiet, homey, relaxing weekend, that allowed my new wife and I to do plenty of touring by day and plenty of relaxing by night. Their DVD collection for loaning out is also remarkably extensive. (Tall men and and women take note: the four-poster bed in the Emma room is just a little bit short in length, but extremely comfortable!)

My boyfriend bought us two nights at an inn a year ago for my birthday and we were crushed when we found out later that it had closed. Fortunately, the former owner transferred the payment to Tom and Anita Potts at South Court Inn. We had an even better weekend away than we had originally hoped for! The inn and its owners are charming - and very accommodating while also creating a casual, comfortable setting. Best was the beautiful gourmet breakfasts each morning in the Victorian dining room - with all the frills and none of the formality. We had a lovely retreat weekend and recommend South Court Inn for anyone looking to escape the Luray for a few days.

Two weeks ago my husband and I wanted to get away from all the ups-and-downs of the economy. We decided through the B&B.com website to spend our leaf-watching autumn adventure in the Shenandoah Valley at the South Court Inn in Luray, Virginia. What a great choice! The Inn Keepers, Anita and Tom, take great pride in assuring that every aspect of their guests' visit is exceptional. The Inn is beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained. My husband and I opted to stay in the guest cottage, and really enjoyed the extra privacy and space that it provided. A highlight of the visit was the two-course gourmet breakfast served in the beautifully decorated dining room. The table was set with Bacarat crystal, lighted candles, and Victorian silverware. Thanks to the Inn Keepers for making this such a wonderful stay, and for all of your advice on local wineries and attractions!

My husband and I stayed at the inn for the weeked in the cottage. The accomodations were fantastic, and made for a relaxing, romantic get-away. The linens were wonderful. The bed was comfortable, and the set-up of the cottage made it feel like a little home away from home. Tom and Anita go out of their way to ensure a remarkable stay for all of their guests. Normally, I would give more details about the accomodations, but as wonderful as they were, the thing that will always stand out in my mind about this weekend is the two incredible breakfasts that we had. Words cannot describe how good these breakfasts were. On Saturday morning, we had a wonderful fruit salad in a secret sauce. The fruit was flavorful, and the sauce was amazing. The fruit was followed by pumpkin-stuffed french toast and slowly cooked sausage. It was a perfectly prepared french toast with a pumpkin chiffon in the middle. It was beyond amazing. The sausage was the best I've ever had. I was prepared for a disappointment on Sunday morning. I didn't think that Tom and Anita could ever prepare another breakfast as good as the first one. Wow . . .was I wrong! On Sunday, we had a Morrell Mushroom Souffle with bacon and toast. It was incredible. The souffle was light and airy and full of flavor. The bacon was cooked to perfection. As if that weren't enough, it was followed by a puff pastry served with a slow-baked pear with butterscotch sauce. Perfection! These two breakfasts easily fall on my list of top ten meals I've ever had. It was so nice to be able to enjoy this level of dining while also enjoying an overall casual atmosphere. Tom and Anita are very knowledgeable about Victorian service, and I loved hearing the stories that they could tell about it and about the house. If you are looking for a romantic and relaxing weekend, enjoy a weekend at the South Court Inn. Not only will you be pampered, but you will enjoy some of the best breakfasts you have ever had.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed hearing about Victorian times. The bed was very comfortable, along with the electric "fire place" heater and the robes. Very easy to find, great location. It was evident that the owners took great personal pride in the house, and had put a lot of time and effort into restoring it. Tom was also very helpful in suggesting wineries and gave us coupons. We would particularly recommend Rappahanock and Chester Gap. The Virginia wine "scene" is improving more and more.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn one night in September. We were celebrating my birthday by going wine tasting in Virginia. The Inn was absolutely perfect – quiet and romantic and beautiful. We had the Hayes Room, and the four poster bed was amazing. The Inn has a great DVD selection and we watched a movie in the room. I loved the colors of our room; the entire house really makes the High Victorian style come alive. It’s immediately apparent that Tom and Anita have devoted themselves to making their home as welcoming and authentic as possible. Breakfast was delicious. Tom and Anita told stories about the house and its furniture during the meal and I really felt like I learned about the history of the home. They were both extremely gracious, friendly, and accommodating. I totally recommend a stay at South Court for anyone looking for a romantic, intimate, and educational experience. Be sure to check out the caverns if you’re in the region as well.

Tom Potts is a magician in the kitchen, serving up tasty breakfast delights while accomodating at least three special diet requirements. We were looking for a memorable way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and found exactly what we were looking for at the South Court Inn in beautiful Luray, VA. Tom and Anita’s website provided all the information we needed, as well as, pictures displaying their wonderfully decorated Victorian home, to plan our special occasion. They also provided informational e-mails prior to our arrival preparing us for a wonderful adventure. We selected the Fantastic Anniversary Getaway package which included: Spa robes embroidered with our initials; one hour in-room massages for both of us, provided by Dot the local massage therapists who she did an outstanding job relaxing both of us; 1 dozen fragrant roses for my lovely bride; a pair of lead crystal champagne flutes, which just happened to match my wife’s pattern! Also included was a gourmet dinner at the Victorian Inn with a surprise chocolate dessert waiting for us in our room when we returned; and, a pair of custom-made South Court Inn mugs. As part of the package we were given the roses, robes, flutes, and mugs as keepsakes to remember our awesome stay! We stayed in the Margaret Bland room with a king size canopy bed, private bath, electric fireplace, oriental carpets, chandeliers, and a whirlpool tub bath. It was the lap of luxury and we felt very spoiled by all the little details Tom and Anita had taken care of! The breakfasts were nothing less than fabulous! Tom and Anita were excellent hosts as well as, gourmet chefs! We found Tom’s historical knowledge from the silverware to local history very impressive, interesting and informational! He provided this dialogue prior to both mornings breakfast! We highly recommend the South Court Inn to any couple looking for the ultimate and relaxing getaway to celebrate any occasion! Tom and Anita deliver what they promise!!!

A Perfect Stay in Luray! We had an beautiful wedding ceremony at the South Court Inn, with the classic house and gorgeous landscaping as a backdrop in every photo! It was the summer time, so everything was lush and green and in bloom. I've never been one for extravagance, so the idea of having a bride-zilla wedding made me look around for reasonable alternatives. When it looked like my only options were going to court, or flying to Vegas, South Court Inn stepped in! Tom and Anita are lovely people who put us at complete ease at a time that could have otherwise been nerve wracking, and that was much appreciated. Everything was all set up, from a bouquet to corsages for the guests, to picture perfect wedding backdrops, to the cake and the service! Even though we used the elopement package, we were able to have guests so I brought my family along for the experience. And believe me, they were so relieved when they found out I wasn't getting married in court! We stayed one night in the two story cabin, which is behind the house. It has its own backyard (huge), a hot tub, a living room, TVs on both levels, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, so it really feels like a little home away from home. I could see a longer stay there being completely comfortable for more than two people, especially if you're checking out all the sites in Luray. I had seen the sites before, and my husband isn't very outdoorsy so we spent our time cozied up in the cabin. We had a lovely breakfast at the Inn and left rested, relaxed and happily married!

We stayed here 1 night for a quick getaway last summer. The owners are delightful and very warm and hospitable. Delicious breakfast and history on Victorian dining. It's very close to the Luray CAverns and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Tom and Anita's have put a lot of work into making their home a true romantic getaway. My wife and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary in Luray and the Cottage was perfect. The breakfast was superb not only with regards to the food but also the experience; Tom took the time to explain the historical and cultural nuances of dining around the time to house was built. We also enjoyed the proximity to a number of great hikes and outdoor adventures! I can see why they have a lot of repeat customers and since it is nearby the metro D.C. area it makes a nice low-petroleum vacation.

How delightful! My sweetheart and I were married April 26, 2008 at the lovely South Court Inn B&B using their Elopement Package. We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights (added 1 night to the 2 night package) which gave us more privacy while enjoying numerous amenities. The ceremony was performed in the main house in front of the mantle by Tom (the owner) while Anita (his wife) filmed the event. The vows were just perfect – words directly from the heart. Additional photos and filming in the main house and gardens were included gave us a memory we will always cherish. My husband’s birthday was the day after our wedding day and I wanted to surprise him with his favorite cake, but did not have a clue how to handle it. This wish was expressed to Tom, who took care of everything. The look on my love’s face when he saw the birthday cake was priceless. The love that completely surrounds Tom and Anita is felt with their every word and action made this experience unforgettable. Sort of like the Aunt and Uncle you did not know you had. Your breakfasts are gourmet all the way, accompanied by wonderful ‘Victorian Age’ and ‘history of the house’ stories by Anita and Tom. The Victorian style rooms and furniture give you a feeling of stepping back time during our romantic history. Whether you stay in the main house or the cottage, this is a ‘must see’ experience and highly recommended.

While driving up the drive way I knew this was the place to stay. The landscaping was serene and beautiful! The innkeepers were friendly and hospitable, and showed us to our gorgeous room. Each morning we were treated to a hot and delicious breakfast, and the innkeeper educated us on victorian silver and the like. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. The only negative, and not one I considered so much as a negative then my 'worse' half, was we did not receive the chocolate dessert that should have come with the package. However; we were blessed in so many ways during our stay that this was a simple and minor oversite.

Visiting South Court Inn was truly a wonderful experience for us. While we did our research before choosing the bed and breakfast, we were truly unprepared for all the nice, thoughtful touches the Potts family put into our stay. Upon arriving for our anniversary getaway, we found the Susie Hodges Cottage was comfortable and immaculately kept. Although we learned the innkeepers, Tom and Anita, had a tough week with Anita’s hospitalization the day before our arrival, not one detail was spared. A plate of fresh fruit was set up for us on the table, along with two bottles of water, several large white fluffy towels and bathrobes were set out for us, with extras by the whirlpool tub, and they offered individual shampoos, soaps and lotions for our use. A quick, but thorough, tour of the home by Tom was greatly appreciated as he showed us how to use everything, including the fireplace. The cottage had a washer and dryer, silverware and even two wine glasses and a corkscrew. Our three-day stay was well worth it as we were able to relax and still interact with the rest of the inn’s guests at the delicious breakfast served each morning. Tom gave wonderful recommendations for restaurants - the Artisan Grill in Luray and Jalisco Mexican Restaurant in New Market - both had delicious food. The rooms in the house and the cottage were beautiful, as were the grounds, and we really enjoyed our time there. We will recommend South Court to all our friends and family!

When my husband and I finally decided that we should just go ahead and get married, we were very specific in wanting the occasion to be not over the top or made a big fuss over. However, we did want a real ceremony that we could remember and that friends and family could attend. South Court Inn was a life saver. This place is situated in the quaintest little town in Northern Virginia near Luray Caverns. The Victorian era house is located on a street lined with similar houses and owned by Tom and Anita Potts, the nicest and most open couple one could hope to meet. They arranged all the details for our ceremony, gave suggestions for dinner and other plans while in the town and offered to make reservations for anything that we wanted to accomplish while in Luray. They also carried out the ceremony flawlessly with Tom Potts acting as the officiant. The breakfasts offered with each night’s stay were wonderful, bordering on gourmet. And not least, the Potts’ offered my family staying at the Inn the ability to stay only one night over a weekend where usually they require a two night stay. I highly recommend the South Court Inn for its charm, the owner’s helpfulness and courtesy, and the setting which is all one could ask for on such as occasion.

Our small wedding at the South Court Inn was everything we could have asked for. Tom and Anita were welcoming from the start- they made planning very easy from the first phone call making the reservations to the subsequent e-mails. They have everything planned down to the best photo arrangements! Jason and I wanted a small ceremony that was personal and intimate, with our own vows as well as having our close family present which was very easily accommodated. Tom performed such a beautiful ceremony that was somehow very personal although we had just met 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, and the DVD that Anita made was wonderful to watch once we were home. All the small touches they do to make your day special, don’t go unnoticed- the corsages for guests, as well as the great chocolate cake and champagne flutes to go home. They also gladly placed our bottle of champagne in the fridge to chill while we went to dinner. The quietness that one often forgets about living in the city is cherished the morning after- we slept in and then enjoyed a great breakfast at our leisure being the only guests still at the Inn. The Inn is beautiful and quaint- with all the small touches of one’s own home, the perfect mix of comfort and charm. The rooms are beautiful with large, relaxing tubs perfect for newlyweds after the ceremony and dinner out! We highly recommend The South Court Inn if what you are looking for is a small, intimate, but personal ceremony either just the two of you or a small ceremony with a few close family members or friends.

South Court Inn is the perfect place to stay when visiting Luray, VA. I took my husband there to celebrate his 30th birthday and we had the best time. The Inn is beautiful, comfortable and quiet. The Innkeepers are very pleasant and have lots of great stories to share with their guests. The Sunday brunch was delicious and left us full for hours! We will definitely be back when we need another break from the city!

We stayed in the cottage, separate from the main house. Perfect for us due to the additional space and privacy, but close enough to the main house for breakfast. Everything about the cottage was very nice and cozy. Very quiet neighborhood, close to most everything in town. Beautiful view of the mountains from the front yard of the main house. Highly recommended, one of the best B&Bs we've visited so far.

My fiance and I were getting married overseas soon, but needed to have a legal ceremony in the U.S. first. Although it was "just paperwork" that we needed, I'm an incorrigible romantic and dreaded the idea of an "office wedding." The South Court Inn not only provided the perfect alternative, Tom and Anita created an intimate and personalized experience that far exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful ceremony, a lovely dinner down the road at the Victorian Inn, an entertaining chat with Tom over cake and tea afterwards... and we can't wait to go back! Our most heartfelt thanks go to Tom and Anita for making our wedding a memorable and special event, not just an "alternative" to the paperwork drill downtown!

I stayed for two nights at the South Court Inn in Luray, Virginia. I arrived very late and had no problem getting in and finding my room. Everything was set up to make my arrival and stay very pleasant. The house is magnificent, the décor is very elegant and inviting. I stayed in the Emma Glenn room, which has a gorgeous bed with a fluffy soft mattress and an abundant supply of pillows under a four poster canopy. It is just like the pictures on their web site. I slept like a baby. The bath has a whirl pool tub and the towels and bathrobe were soft and luxurious. I could get used to that!! Everything I needed was in the room. I found it very nice to get up, go down to the sunroom for tea and fruit before breakfast and listen to beautiful music coming from inside the main house. Breakfast was also very elegant with vintage glasses and silverware. They were very beautiful. The first day I enjoyed the breakfast of peach French toast with sausage and strawberries and yogurt specially prepared for me by Tom, the innkeeper. I also had a choice of drink. The sausage was especially good. The next day I had an omelet with special seasoning, diced potatoes, fruit, and toast and choice of drinks. It was a great way to start my day. I was able to have a tour of the other rooms in the house and plan to come back again to take full advantage of them also. They are very unique and again the décor is very special to each room. Tom and Anita are excellent hospitable hosts who made my stay memorable. Their home is worth coming back to and their hospitality can’t be beat.

My wife and I visited the South Court Inn Bed and Breakfast for a quiet, extraordinarily unique Valentine's Day elopement. We found Tom and Anita Pott's place on the internet and thought it was perfect. When we spoke with Tom on the phone, he was pleasant, considerate, understanding of our endeavor, and more than willing to help. When we drove up to the house, we couldn't help but feel as if we were arriving at someone's home, not just a bed and breakfast. The house was beautiful, well decorated, and full of history. The rooms were comfortable and cozy.. with many thoughtful amenities. With the ceremony provided by Tom, the wonderul food they prepared for us, the interesting stories of the house and history Anita shared as we dined, we couldn't have asked for more. We truly felt as if we were at home, away from home. Now Lisa and I have a fond memory of our wedding that we're completely happy with. If you're thinking of eloping, I urge you to call the Potts. If you're a couple looking to get away for a couple of days and forget the world, this is your place. Tom and Anita, we thank you very much. Maybe in a year, we'll see you for our first anniversary. -Thaddeus and Lisa

What a fantastic way to spend Valentine's weekend! My husband and I traveled from Maryland to join Tom and Anita for the extended President's Day weekend. We were pleased to drive up to a beautiful home, and to be welcomed by a cheerful couple who clearly take pride in their innkeeping duties. From the fine decorating to the exquisite breakfasts, we really felt like we made a great decision on where to stay. We felt very comfortable in their home, chatting with another couple in the parlor until late at night. We would highly recommend staying at the South Court Inn - where you are close to a national park, luray caverns, and wineries.

We were married at the South Court Inn on December 21st, 2007. We had spent weeks searching for the perfect place to escape for a few days from the bustle of the silly season and, more importantly, to do something very special for us… to elope. We looked at every place you can imagine, from the Gulf Coast to the mountains of Vermont, but something intrigued us when we stumbled onto the quaint little town of Luray and something just clicked when we found the website for the South Court Inn. The home was beautiful and inviting, true. The rooms were tastefully decorated and lovely, true. Tom and Anita hosted and presided over weddings, true. They helped us plan the simple, yet elegant ceremony, provided us with all the State requirements and procedures for the marriage, and arranged for us the most astonishing flowers and bouquet. But it was something else, something that neither of could put a finger on that drew us in. When we arrived the hospitality and accommodations were wonderful. We stayed in the lover’s cottage, which we highly recommend for its charm and its privacy. The breakfasts were divine, we were treated so very special, and Tom is such a charmer that he will have you enraptured in the first few moments after you arrive. But it was when we walked into their lovely parlor and the ceremony began that we felt the magic that had drawn us to this place. There is no way to describe the beauty and perfection of the ceremony Tom conducted for us, nor could we ever tell you the depth of feeling in the vows they had prepared for us. This would have been special moment for us regardless, but it was made truly magical by the place, the setting, the attention to detail, and most of all by the sincerity and warmth of our hosts. We will be back! D. and S. Mercer

My wife and I have just returned from a three-night stay at the South Court Inn using their elopement package to renew our wedding vows and found it to be a very enjoyable experience. Even before we arrived I realized that the South Court’s owners, Tom and Anita, were very patient and accommodating. We had some scheduling conflicts that went on for weeks and through it all they were extremely understanding and helpful. Their elopement package is all-inclusive and was an excellent value for everything we received. For a little more than what some people wanted to charge us for a one hour ceremony on the beach we had a three-night stay, (we added an extra night to the package), in a private cottage. Included with this were two tickets to Luray Caverns (highly recommended), two one-hour massages at the inn, and much more than I have room to list. Be assured we both felt we received a lot for our money. Tom performed the ceremony there at the inn in front of the mantle, which looked lovely decorated for Christmas. My wife and I both enjoyed how warm and personal the vows were, very romantic without being too mushy. Anita filmed the event and afterwards Tom patiently worked with us taking numerous pictures with our camera. The inn is a late 1800s farmhouse that has been converted to a bed-and-breakfast that is just filled with wonderful antiques. We ate breakfast in the dinning room each morning while Tom gave us the history of the house and some of the things in it, which I found quite fascinating. Tom is quite the gourmet chef who isn’t afraid to strut his stuff and each meal had us looking forward to the next. Tom and Anita are very service minded and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay very memorable. I would have to say that our stay at the South Court Inn more than exceeded both our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone, or return there ourselves in the future.

We loved the Margaret Bland room and the rest of the house. The room's furniture and decorations were gorgeous and the bed was very comfortable. The large living room was also decorated beautifully following the 1800 architecture. The breakfasts were delicious, especially the homemade sausage! The dining room place settings were antique and the hosts told interesting stories about how people in the 1800's lived. We liked the hosts discussions of the history of the house. We would definitely stay at this B&B again and recommend it.

While touring the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying two nights at the South Court Inn. We wished we could have stayed much longer. Tom and Annie are founts of knowledge and hospitality. Upon arrival, Tom shared the history of this great old house and property as well as his ongoing efforts to maintain it in period style. Our room, and all common areas, was very comfortable, immaculately clean, and well-appointed. Breakfast on both mornings was definitely the high point of our stay. While waiting for our call to the table, we were treated to the music and sounds of the Shenandoah Valley. The table was set beautifully with crystal juice goblets, Thanksgiving-themed dinnerware, and unique flatware. The immense table was accented with candlelight. We feasted on sliced strawberries in lavender-infused honey, banana-stuffed french toast, and sausage. Tom prepared a delicious herb omelet, bacon, and all the trimmings for our second morning. Our brief stay at the South Court Inn will be fondly remembered. We give our highest recommendation to this premier bed and breakfast, and encourage you to make it one of your stops on any trip to the Shenandoah.

We got married at the South Court Inn in 2006 and had a fantastic experience, so of course we decided to celebrate our first anniversary there this year. If anything, the place has gotten even better. Tom and Anita are wonderful innkeepers, and make sure your stay is perfect. They surprised us with an arrangement of roses in our room to celebrate our anniversary. Last year we stayed in the Emma Glenn room; this year we were in the Edith Hayes room. Both were outstanding -- beautifully decorated, warm, and comfortable. Tom is an outstanding chef, so breakfast is always delicious. Although the Inn does not serve dinner, Tom will be happy to make your dinner reservations at the nicest restaurants in the area. Trust his recommendations...our dinners were outstanding. All in all, we can't say enough about this wonderful little B&B. We will definitely be back for our next anniversary!

This B&B was wonderful. Tom (the owner) really went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We stayed in the cottage (located just off to the side of the main house). The cottage was very clean and beautifully decorated upon our arrival. We chose a wonderful package that included a dozen red roses upon arrival, a couple’s massage, spa robes, chocolate covered strawberries, and champaign flutes. Everything we requested was provided to us promptly. The main house was decorated just as beautifully as the cottage. Tom gave us a wonderful tour (and history) of the main house upon our arrival. He even showed us photos of how the main house use to look before its 3 year restoration process began. The main house now has all the comforts of urban living, while still maintaining its country charm. Breakfast each morning was a delight. While eating breakfast each morning, Tom made sure each party had directions to their destination for that morning. He also gave us recommendation for local dining, and provided menus to most places. I would HIGHLY recommend this B&B to anyone!!!!! We had a fabulous time, and we plan on staying here anytime we are in the area.

My wife and I chose the South Court Inn to renew our wedding vows, and it exceeded our expectations. The innkeepers, Tom and Anita, are pleasant and accommodating - they really made us and our guests feel at home. From the moment we booked our stay, they helped us plan the details of our ceremony and they were quick to answer any questions we had. The Inn itself is gorgeous, luxuriously decorated in Victorian style. We stayed in the relaxing Emma Glenn room, with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on and a wonderful two-person whirlpool tub. Our friends were equally impressed with the other three bedrooms in the main house. We had a small, intimate ceremony with six guests, and Tom did an excellent job with the vows. He also took many of our wedding photos, which we were very pleased with. The cake was delicious and my wife loved the vase of roses in our room. The gourmet breakfast each morning was a definite highlight. The table layout was impressive, Anita’s anecdotes about dining in the Victorian era were entertaining, and Tom is an artist in the kitchen. The inn has a large selection of books and DVDs, and a nice porch for people who enjoy watching the stars at night. The location was perfect - very close to the Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. I highly recommend the South Court Inn for couples who want a relaxing, romantic getaway. Thanks again Tom and Anita for making our stay so enjoyable.

This was our second stay at the South Court Inn. We decided to stay in the separate cottage this time and it was a very good decision to do so. The cottage was extremely private and relaxing. It was so nice to stay somewhere where there are no elevators or steel service carts everywhere you look. The house is on a huge piece of land that is constantly landscaped and groomed. Anyone looking for a great place to stay should look into staying here. I would recommend the cottage but all of the rooms there are equally good. The service there is also great. The Potts family are phenomenal cooks. You will enjoy every meal and miss them when you get back home.

The best combination of elegance and warmth in any B&B,hotel or resort. The Victorian era was wonderfully re-created here. The Margaret Bland room was fabulous. The signature "candle light breakfast" with Mrs. Potts stories of the Victorian era and B&B are delightful. Chef Potts(Mr. Potts)is a breakfast artist. They 24/7 "goody tray" in the sun room was a nice touch. We were impressed with the vase of roses, unique champagne flutes and bath robes that were our's to take home. We spent a weekend at the South Court Inn to be close to the Caverns. The room was delightful, clean and comfortable and the hospitality of Tom and Anita a real treat. Breakfast was the highlight, served on Victorian service and the meal was accompanied by a short talk about the various pieces of silverware that was used in older times. We really enjoyed going to the living room to simply "flop" on the furniture while looking at the large variety of magazines and books. Quiet, clean, cheery, elegant and worth the drive - - we had a great weekend. Al & Kim Schweizer, Newport News, VA.

The South Court Inn was amazing. The website doesn't do the property justice. This beautifully restored Victorian is the setting for the most romantic of weekends. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Meticulous attention to detail shows throughout the house from the gleaming antiques, and spotless rooms, to the gourmet breakfasts. The owners, Tom & Anita, were an absolute joy to be around! They are the most welcoming and genuine of people. They take the extra time and effort to go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. The time my wife and I recently spent at South Court B & B was wonderful. Although this was our first B & B experience, I can’t imagine a better stay. The Victorian era home had much to offer; from an endless selection of books to indoor and outdoor games to enjoy on a peaceful mountain day. Our innkeepers, Tom and Anita, were very pleasant and always trying to make our stay a little more memorable. The highlight of our stay at South Court B & B was the breakfasts (Tom rocks that kitchen) and the cottage. If anyone is looking for a way to spend a romantic getaway with all the amenities of a B & B but the privacy of your own home, definitely reserve the cottage. The cottage is a quaint retreat from the rest of your vacation that has a HUGE Jacuzzi tub, your own kitchen, and a comfy daybed to cuddle up with your sweetheart while watching one of the many movies they have on hand in the main house. If you’re coming from the city, the private back porch of the cottage has some of the best star gazing I have seen since I was a child. Thank you for the great experience. We look forward to visiting you again.

This place was lovely in so many ways... the decor, the begonias on the porch, the warmth and friendliness of the hosts, but my favorite of the "greats" was the "breakfast experience". The hosts are accomplished cooks and created a delicious and beautiful breakfast. So many items in this home were conversation starters including the elaborate silverware and serving pieces at breakfast. We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

If you seek a superb country inn with a genteel savoir-faire, then the South Court Inn in Luray, Virginia is for you. My wife and I stayed at the South Court Inn for only one night, but it was a wonderful night. We enjoyed hearing the history of the home, seeing and hearing the story of its transition into a sumptuous bed and breakfast and lament only that Tom and Anita do not serve dinner. They do, however serve a memorable epicurean breakfast. Ours consisted of a gourmet omelet served with thick bacon, preceded by a fresh fruit compote, fresh juices and custom-blended coffee, all served with more individual pieces of silverware than we realized existed. Make sure you take in the Lincrusta wainscoting in the parlor, the embossed tin ceilings, the eclectic turkey bric-a-brac, the beautiful oriental rugs, and the opulent bedchambers which together create a vibrant and lush Victorian ambiance. Whether you choose to stay in one of the four unique rooms in the main house, or the exquisite little French country cottage of this little gem of a country inn, you will not be disappointed. The South Court Inn can only be described as extraordinary: extraordinary in class, comfort, service, décor, style, and value.

The South Court Inn is situated in a picturesque setting surrounded by beautiful gardens that Tom has done himself. The B&B and the Emma Glenn room were nicely done, very rich but not to stuffy, the breakfast that Tom prepared was fantastic (egg souffle with morel mushrooms); both Anita and Tom did a fantastic job entertaining during breakfast with stories about the silver, the "turkeys", and even how he came upon the tastey morels. Tom and Anita are a charming couple and clearly love what they do (and it shows). The only thing to note - the Emma Glenn room description should indicate that it does not have a shower in the bath. The tub and the chocolate dessert, however, were wonderful!

My wife and I have stayed at a couple dozen B&Bs over the years in a number of different cities and the South Court Inn easily ranks as one of the very best. Even though this historic home was built in 1875, Anita and Tom Potts spent several years doing renovations resulting in a B&B that is decidedly 21st century, while nevertheless retaining its high Victorian ambiance. We were especially excited about our bathroom which offered a two-person Whirlpool tub for a relaxing evening soak, the perfect conclusion to a day spent enjoying the Shenandoah sporting life. And our bedroom featured a 35-inch television and DVD player, so we made great use of our hosts’ extensive DVD library at night. But what really distinguishes the South Court Inn from its peers are their truly gourmet breakfasts served by candlelight. Tom Potts is a talented and inventive chef with an extreme attention to detail. Each breakfast begins with a refreshing fruit concoction: on our first day we enjoyed a parfait assembled from yoghurt, perfectly ripened slices of peach, and a fresh raspberry coulis, and on our second day we had fresh peaches and strawberries steeped in house-infused lavender honey. After a brief overview of the unusual and charming array of silverware (inluding an antique orange spoon for our fruit dish and an 1850s era knife that was once a standard part of a U.S. officer’s mess kit), Tom whisked in our entrees. One day, we each had two hardboiled eggs served in the shell. The white was solid while the yolk was runny, and as per Tom’s instructions, we added a dab of butter, a crack of pepper from the pepper mill, and a sprinkling of sea salt- clever in its simplicity. The next day offered a four cheese egg souffle folded over like an omelette, while the last day had a true showstopper: a banana-stuffed french toast croissant. Each breakfast was complemented by excellent smoked bacon and toast with housemade strawberry preserves.

Our visit to the South Court Inn was absolutely refreshing! The house has an amazing history, yet Tom and Anita have brought it into the 21st century with whirlpool tubs and televisions with DVD players. The Potts’ are wonderful innkeepers: always there when you need them, but out of the way so you can enjoy a romantic vacation away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Their hospitality began even before we left our home with a welcoming e-mail filled with tips on where to eat and what to do in the Luray area. When we arrived in Luray, we were taken aback by the simple beauty of the town. There is a walkway around the town meandering along a stream and several of the buildings in town have been painted with vivid scenes- it is like walking through an outdoor art gallery. The inn itself boasts a relaxing front porch and several gathering areas downstairs. The bedrooms were elegant yet very comfortable with even the little details taken care of (hairdryer, alarm clock, luxurious towels and robes, writing paper, bottled water, a sewing kit and several other extras). Breakfast was fabulous with juices, tea, coffee, and 3 fabulous dishes (breakfast during our stay included strawberries and cream, banana stuffed French toast, and apple crisp). Tom and Anita entertained during breakfast with interesting stories about the house as well as a few lessons about Victorian customs. We left feeling revived and excited about our next visit to the wonderful inn.

I originally chose the South Court Inn because of its great location near the Shenandoah National Park since we planned to hike, kayak and bike ride. Not only was it convenient, but it turned out to be far more comfortable and welcoming than I had imagined. We stayed in the Mary Kennard room, which is comfortable, sunny and has a TV and DVD player. The breakfasts were delicious, and the innkeepers also made sure that snacks were always available - which was greatly appreciated after a long day outdoors!

When we first started looking for a place to exchange our marriage vows, we came across The South Court Inn, Bed and Breakfast. We didn’t want that “commercial” feeling, but still wanted a professional and yet “special” feeling as far as our wedding ceremony. We were treated with so much kindness, care and warmth with every question and detail answered and provided for. Not only for us as the Bride and Groom but for our wedding party of family and friends, as quests. So full of wonderful memories for all of us. As guest staying at The South Court Inn, it was the most wonderful experience. We were made to feel so comfortable and very well taken care of. Right at home and but better. Also, there is so much history there. The Innkeeper will gladly share all of it with you. We were told of so many things. Stories and information about the first and other previous owners. About the Inn, the Cottage, all the wonderful antiques that just fill the Inn, right down to the actual Victorian silverware we ate with. It is a beautiful place, owned and operated by a beautiful couple. Thank you Tom and Anita Potts for making our special day so very “Special” and for a wonderful place to stay. We look forward to our next visit as soon as possible. Certainly as a get away and our anniversaries for years to come.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the South Court Inn on April 5. This was our first time at a B&B and the experience was very nice. We were a little apprehensive at first, not having ever done this before, but Tom and Anita were wonderful hosts who made us feel right at home. They have a beautiful restored Victorian home. The décor is very tastefully done. Tom and Rita did a lot of research on the Victorian era to ensure that the house reflects the décor of the period. They gave us a brief history lesson on the period and the previous owners that was quite fascinating. After that, they left us to ourselves to enjoy the comforts. Our room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a wonderful medley of fruit, eggs, bacon, toast, juice and coffee, all specially prepared and also with some more history on the Victorian traditions on fine dining. All in all, it was a very nice experience. If we are in the area again, we will most likely return to the South Court Inn.

We feel so rested and pampered after our stay at South Court Inn. From the moment we walked through the front door, we were amazed at how beautiful everything was. From the extensive moldings throughout the house to the luxurious draperies created by Anita herself…everything was “brilliant”! Tom and Anita took such good care of us every morning with a creative and plentiful breakfast. After breakfast, we enjoyed the welcoming bath for two in our room before starting our day. During our 4-day stay, we enjoyed many of the local attractions including Skyline Drive, a couple wineries and antique’ing. Our late afternoons were spent reading in the shade of their large front porch overlooking their beautifully landscaped front yard and the view of the mountains. While South Court Inn also has a bountiful supply of books and DVD’s to borrow, we found ourselves so relaxed that we often went to bed early and skipped the movie. We were positively spoiled during our visit and definitely plan to return for another visit one day soon. I can’t believe how rested I look and feel….it was just what we needed!

The South Court Inn is a lovely home, spacious, well-kept, and beautifully refurbished. Each room has a distinct, romantic atmosphere, and there are several open rooms that invite conversation and friendly gathering. The size of South Court Inn, as well as the respectul, congenial hosts create a warm, comfortable, and welcoming experience.

I came here to attended a friend’s wedding here and found this to be quite intimate and personal. The cottage makes a wonderful honeymoon suite. I would highly recommend weddings here with Tom. The house and cottage were luxurious and a great escape the fast pace of everyday life. The food was excellent and they were able to deal with our group’s special dietary needs. One night was not enough! I wish that I could have stayed longer and enjoyed Tom and Anita’s hospitality for a bit longer. I would like to go back and explore the local wineries, caves, and the Shenandoah National Park. The area must be gorgeous when the leaves change color.

This was our second stay at South Court. We were married there over a year ago. My husband is in the military and our time together is short. When we decided to go away together for our anniversary during his leave, South Court Inn was the first place that came to mind. We stayed in the new Susie Hodges Cottage. Its absolutely perfect for a quiet peaceful weekend. When we arrived we had 1 dozen beautiful roses waiting for us. We woke up to breakfast waiting for us each morning. As for as the cottage itself it was beautiful, spotless and stocked with everything we would need for our weekend. Our experience with Tom and Anita and their beautiful home far exceeds any we've had at expensive hotels we've stayed in over our travels. Definitely recommend staying here if you get the opportunity, especially the Susie Hodges Cottage!

My wife and I took a one day/one night trip to the South Cord Inn to celebrate our Anniversary. Everything about the South Court Inn allowed me to relax. The friendliness of the staff was warm and inviting. Our room was spacious, the bed luxurious and big (king size). My wife was able to schedule a surprise massage through the Inn which was hevanly to say the least. I also appreciated the small touches. We had gone out to dinner and came back to find a lovely chocolate frosted yellow cake in raspberry sauce waiting for us. The food was fantastic and with breakfast came an enlightening history of Victorian era customs. My only regret is I didn't spend more time there.

Our stay at South Court Inn was absolutely beautiful! From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed! The house was gorgeous and SO historical (a history teacher’s dream!) –and Tom’s stories were great. We stayed in the Edith Hayes room and it was even more beautiful in person than it was in the pictures on their website. I would recommend South Court Inn to just about anyone in need of some R&R and a romantic getaway. Our stay was fabulous!

What a wonderful stay we had at the South Court Inn.. I surprised my husband for our 11th Wedding Anniversary and the renewal of our vows. We were both surprised... it was beautiful and everything we could have wanted. Tom & Anita think of everything.. right down to the wonderful towels & robes. I would recommend a stay at the South Court Inn for anyone wanting to have some quiet, romantic and relaxing time together.
