About 7-8 miles from Mount Snow sits ths terrific Inn. Staffed by incrdibly friendly, helpful innkeepers, it was an utter delight to stay there. We ad a very clean, comfortable King room with jacuzzi tub. We had to leave early in AM and they offered to leave out food for breakfast. Great dinner recommendation at 1846 Tavern in West Dover. I'll be back.
My friend and I arrived at 11pm on a sunday. The inkeepers were not available so they left our roomkey and freshly made cookies on a table when we arrived! Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Just what we needed before our full day of snowboarding at Mt.Snow! highly recommend this place
We really liked this place!
we stayed in the Joseph Courtemanche Suite which was tastefully and cozily decorated. The bed was comfy, the fire place was great and the bathroom clean and big with a jacuzzi tub!
they also had a hot tub outside for us to use.
Jason and Alicia were super friendly and gave us lots of info on places to eat in town. I loved the fact they had a small bar in the living room/lobby area and Jason poured very graciously. Nice selection of Whiskeys!
lots of books and games around to play too!
The breakfast was fresh and delicious and the dinning room well spaced and nicely decorated too.
would def go back!
Wish we could have stayed longer! We stayed in the Joseph Courtemanche Suite and it was so beautiful and relaxing. The innkeepers are very friendly and make you feel right at home without being intrusive at all. I will plan on staying there again in the future. The homemade breakfast was very good (blueberry pancakes and bacon).
Spent a weekend in mid-February. Jason and Alicia were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. Breakfast was very good -- lots of choices and all of them made to order. Our room was comfortable and clean. All in all, a fine B&B; we would not hesitate to stay there again.
Jason and Alicia are the best Inn Keepers. We had such a great time, the bar area in the Inn was a big plus, since we arrived and there was 18 inches of snow the day before, it helped not having to run out to eat or drink. They sent us to the best places to eat.The horse drawn carriage ride was amazing. I believe that the Inn and the World need more people like Jason and Alicia. Can't say more than, it was a great time. Miss being pampered....
We stayed during August and found everyone very friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed to have been too much trouble to make our stay more enjoyable. We would thoroughly recommend the inn and would go back if we were in the area again.
I visited for the first time recently and enjoyed the warmth and service of Jason and Alicia very much. The room was clean, comfortable and just right for my short stay. The fire was cozy and living room setting just right too. Wish I could have stayed longer but suspect it won't be my first visit to this wonderful Inn in the beautiful state of Vermont. I highly recommend it!
This was our first time at the Wilmington Inn, and it surely will not be our last. We booked last minute, not knowing anything about the area, and fell in love with the homey, friendly atmosphere. Jason and Alicia were the consummate hosts, and our fellow guests were like-minded adventurers, making for a lovely evening of wine and games. The rooms were comfortable and private, breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect for walking into town. We can't wait to come back!
We loved the historical nature of the Inn. The innkeepers could not have been nicer or more welcoming. We got advice on where to take a hike and where to dine. The beds were very comfy. A little noisy if you're there when you want windows open but manageable. Recommended.
Jason and Alicia made us feel like a welcomed guest right from the start! The two of them are wonderful innkeepers! We enjoyed talking and sharing with them, they were extremely helpful in guiding us on the next leg of our trip, even printed out the map and directions! They gave us many helpful tips. This was our 1st night of our week-long trip and we could not have started off any better, especially the next morning which was also our best breakfast of our whole trip, sitting by the fireplace! We loved the choices we had for our hot breakfast and both were spectacular! We hope to come again soon!
What a great wknd. Romance, atmosphere, great hosts, & comfortable rooms. Jason & Alicia were fun to talk to & they had good knowledge of the area for sightseeing , shopping, or eating, both of them serve up a darn good breakfast,(awesome omelets guys). Seriously going back again. Fred & darcy W.
We stayed here recently for our five year reunion and could not rave about this place enough! John and Rachel are gracious (and fun!) hosts, the rooms, town, restaurant and tavern all exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back soon!
My husband and I rented two rooms for our family to stay in town as they had never before stayed at a bed and breakfast. We had not been at the Inn since it changed over from the Shutter--but it was better than ever! We spent a lot of time with our family while they were there because the rooms were so nice! John was very welcoming and made you feel like you were staying with family rather than at a strange place. The rooms were beautiful! Very clean, the beds EXTREMELY soft. It was the little touches that made things better, like the quilt patterns on the wall, the ceramic pitchers, the paintings--beautiful! Although there were a lot of people in the Inn, it was very quiet and my inlaws had a wonderful nights sleep. We had breakfast in the morning where John, his wife, and their son made breakfast. Breakfast was amazing! The best experience I have had by far. I highly recommend the Inn to any traveler--and local looking for a nice getaway or staycation!
The Wilmington has a lot of heart! I think thats the most important thing to any of these hotels. The owners and staff really go out of there way to make you feel welcome and the food is the best. If you want a good time to relex and eat, this is the place.
Top notch New England Inn! Very cute, clean and welcoming Inn, will definitely return. We loved the outdoor deck overlooking the river. The location is perfect, Wilmington is a small town with some nice local shops and restaurants. Close to hiking trails, Mt. Snow and Brattleboro.
The food at the tavern is amazing. We had the roast chicken and vegetable risotto, highly recommend. A must visit restaurant if you're in the area!
My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights while doing some skiing at Mt. Snow. The room was excellent, very nicely decorated, with an extra comfortable king sized bed. We ate at the Tavern both evenings, and we were very impressed by the interesting cuisine that was available. We did the blind 5-course tasting on Tuesday, which was fantastic.
Jenn and I took a slow and winding trip west from Boston to southern VT for our first anniversary. What a find, this inn! After arriving, we relaxed on the front porch with a bottle of wine and a cribbage board. In the evening John recommended dinner at Apres Voux (one of three restaurants open after the Irene flooding). The place was packed, we waited an hour and well worth it. John was a terrific host and bartender as I enjoyed the NE Patriots game at the bar in the main house. Dinner at the Wilmington was a delicious treat. Since we've considered driving out and back just for dinner. We still talk about the bleu cheese and sage risotto cake. Thank you Ishmael. Our only regret that weekend was that we did not met Rachel. We'll make sure we get that chance when we go back for some skiing nearby at Mt Snow.

Extremely accomodating, and very friendly, staff. Loved the food, enjoyed the wine and our picnic lunch. The owners were always available to see to small details which made us feel very special, as if we were the only ones staying there!! Thank you John
Entire staff was 'over the top' friendly and accomodating from the moment we arrived, making for an awesome experience. Rooms were nicely appointed, bright and airy. Food was delicious, portions were on the generous side and the wine was enjoyed totally.
A Very Nice inn - well located in an attractive town

Wilmington Inn and Tavern
A very nice inn, well located in the cute town of Wilmington.
Our room (The Wilmington Room) was spacious and comfortable the food was truly exceptional and John and Rachel were excellent hosts. John was particularly helpful in checking out our onward route along the devastated Route 100. Happily the road crews had worked so hard that the whole of Route 100 was driveable by the time we left.
The main dining room is wood panelled and very cosy. We ate in the inn both evenings and had two of the best meals in our whole vacation. On one of the nights a singer/guitarist performed as well and it made a memorable evening.
There are a few little bits of maintenance that need attention but it would be ridiculous to criticise this when the owners have been trying so hard to help less fortunate residents in the town in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. The town itself is coming back slowly to life and we very much hope that it will soon be thriving again.
Overall – highly recommended.

I purchased a certificate for the Wilmington Inn on Buy-With-Me. It was a great value just the room alone would have been enough, but we also received a complimentary bottle of wine and FREE DINNER! The food at the Inn is some of the best food I have ever had in my life. I have been to many restaurants in my life and the chef at the Wilmington Inn has them all beat. The room was small but comfortable and had all of the necessary amenities. There was live music the first night and a wine tasting the second night, both were great. Overall I would come back to the Inn and recommend it to all of my friends.

The price was right, the food was good, the bed was great... but this place needs a good outside cleanup. Odds and ends strewn about, quite a collection of "stuff" piled against the far side of the building, a few projects started with good intentions and seemingly dropped and little attention paid to weeding and landscaping. The place has GREAT potential but needs some follow through.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] We're just trying to get the place buttoned up before Jack Frost visits. Too many projects? Sure. Thanks though...we'll try and keep our efforts more 'behind the scenes' in the future!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Wilmington Inn for a nice weekend away and were very impressed . We stayed in the Windham room which was very nice and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. As we walked to our room we passed the garden growing some of the food we would be eating for dinner the next night. At dinner we ordered the Farmer's Feast which was delicious and very affordable. Our waitress recommended some excellent wine to pair with the food to create an excellent evening. The included breakfast was also excellent.
Upon arriving, my husband and I were delighted to find that our room was upgraded to a suite. The mattress was exceptionally comfortable and the towels were the thickest I've ever used. In the morning, breakfasts were made to order. I chose a wonderful omelette using fresh vegetables that was done to perfection although other wonderful breakfast choices were also available. The Wilmington Inn provided a most pleasant experience for us and I would certainly recommend it. John and Rachel are wonderfully friendly inn keepers who are making a most comfortable place for travelers.
We stayed in Molly Stark Suite. Love the trees and greenery view from all the windows, plus the skylight in the bathroom, great!
Also, close enough to walk to restaurants and bars, yet you still feel privacy and relax like you are in the middle of nowhere.
Too bad when we were there, the restaurant isn't open for the season yet :(
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] We are open! We have added a 4 course Farmer's Feast featuring 100% Vermont ingredients to our weekend menu in addition to our regular menu. The "Feast" menu includes all of our wonderful ingredients but the dishes are all "chef's choice!" Each dish is unique and not on the regular menu. $45 for the complete meal.

There really aren't words to describe what a wonderful time my girlfriend and I had here. John and Rachel are fantastic hosts. The room, with the whirlpool tub and king sized bed, were exactly what we needed to relax.
We listened to great music, drank delicious cocktails, and had mind-altering breakfast.
I cannot recommend this B&B enough.
My boyfriend and I were very impressed with our stay at The Wilmington Inn last weekend. Our room was pristine, complete with a seperate sitting room with a fireplace, as well as a large whirlpool tub in the bathroom. The innkeepers, John and Rachel, were very welcoming and made our stay all the more enjoyable. The dinner we had at the Inn's own restaurant was by far the best meal we had on our trip. We asked around town where to eat after having already eaten there, and most suggested we try The Wilmington Inn! Mount Snow was a short drive from the Inn, as well as area antique shops and restaurants. I highly recommend The Wilmington Inn for couples who want something a bit nicer and more personal than a hotel!
This was the first B&B we have gone to. Rachel & John were awesome hosts. Food was excellent. Our room and the entire Inn was very warm & cozy. This was my first time to the area & John could not have been more helpful with suggestions of things to do. My husband & I can't wait to go back.
My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Joseph Courtemanche street. My daughter travels for her work and wanted us to experience an authentic Vermont B & B eperience. (We live in Canada and always watched the Bob Newhart Show.) Rachel and John were very personable innkeepers who made sure to meet our every need! The evening meal was delicious and tastefully presented. The complementary breakfast was divine and use of local produce made it even more special. Should we venture back that way again, we would definitely stay at this inn.
Great breakfast, beds and location! Wonderful chef for dinner too!
We enjoyed the new pillow-top beds and the friendliness of our hosts. Rachel and John purchased the Inn in October 2009, and have made a number of improvements. They also changed the name from the Red Shutter in to the Wilmington Inn. They hired a wonderful chef, so we ate there 3 different nights! We were pleased to have air-conditioning, since the temperatures were above average. The owners plan further improvements. Our room air conditioner was old and noisy, and the previous guest had walked off with the TV remote, but we know that those things will be remedied. Our hostess makes a wonderful Mojito (but not for breakfast!). The bedroom and the bath were small, and there was no closet, but we chose an inexpensive room and were quite satisfied. We enjoyed walking around the little town of Wilmington, and enjoyed its fabulous location, close to the Marlboro Chamber Music Festival, Brattleboro and Bennington Vermont as well as the Clark Institute, Mass MoCA, and Shelburne Falls and Williamstown, Massachusetts. We will stay at the Inn again!
We stayed at the Wilmington Inn while sightseeing in Vermont. The food is wonderful with choices and local fare. The restaurant part was great fun experiencing the chef's choice of a 5 course dinner as the Tuesday offering. Our room was charming seemed to be recently updated with a new mattress. We loved the food, found John extremely friendly and helpful to plan our day trips.
If you are going to southern Vermont, then stay at the Red Shutter Inn. The new owners have created a beautiful inn perfectly located at the edge of town. The food from their chefs is truly fine cuisine. The peace and tranquility are just what we were looking for. A perfect getaway place.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Shutter Inn. Our amenities far exceeded our expectations. Our suite was very large and comfortable with a private deck with a very relaxing view. My first stay at this location, but not my last. The rooms were larger than I anticipated and the bed linens and pillows were so comfortable I wanted them for my home. The innkeepers are very gracious. The breakfast totally exceeded my expectations. Everything was delicious. We intend to return to enjoy dinner on the deck. Greta spot for a romantic getaway.
Wife's 50th, Put family (40+ peeps on Charter Bus and arrived at The Red Shutter 9:30 pm, snacks and Bar open. Breakfast Sat and Sun and B'Day Dinner Sat nite in the Inn Resteraunt. Party began at 5pm and ran till 2:30 am. Fantastic food, Giant Strawberry shortcake B'Day Cake, Servers fun and professional. The best multi-course dinner I've had outside of NYC EVER!...and I travel often. All fresh local food. Rachael and John are wonderful Innkeepers and couldn't do enough for us. Inn is quiet, comfortable, clean etc and a short walk to shops in town. "Warning Rachael, John and Lewie...we're all coming back same time next year...nuff said!" You have started a family tradition.

My wife and I have visited the Red Shutter Inn several times in the past 22 years. Their website is great for picking the room you would like to stay. We picked the Willington for the king size bed. But you can not go wrong in any of their rooms. The web cam is great to see the lobby and bar. The best part about going there is getting away from home but feeling you are home. John,Rachael, and the rest of the staff make every effort to make you stay enjoyable. Worth a visit and hope to go back in the near future.
I stayed at the Red Shutter Inn last weekend when we were going snowshoeing in the neighboring Green Mountains and Snowboarding on Mount Snow. My room was very clean and felt modern (new pottery barn-like light fixtures and carpet, luxurious sheets and puffy comforters and pillows) yet held the charm of a perfect Vermont Inn with matching maple antique headboard and bureau. The complementary breakfast was delicious and made to order with farm-fresh eggs, bacon, sausage and yummy blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup. We had fun choosing from huge tea selection including organic loose teas put in Vermont's Danforth Pewter tea strainers that we received in our own pots while we sat by either the gas fireplace or the window waiting for our breakfasts. In the evening the fire in the lobby area was roaring as we had a drink at the full stocked bar (including Lake Champlain chocolates to nibble on!). The next night the chef made us creamy hot chocolate with homemade whipped cream as we partook in the assortment of board games available for guests. The inn is located right in town and we liked being able to walk to the little town's restaurants, shops and bakery. The Innkeepers were super nice and helpful- we will definitely return.
My friend and I stayed at the Red Shutter Inn on February 16th for one night.
We arrived early and were greeted by one of the owners, Rachael, who was kind enough to let us drop our belongings off so we could head off to ski for the day and then return later that day to "officially" check into our room.
Upon our arrival in the afternoon, we checked into the room and made ourselves comfortable in the cozy bar/fireplace area. The staff was very helpful and friendly and addressed our needs which we appreciated. The owners (Rachael & John) had recently taken over this Inn and were diligently making positive changes to the Inn to enhance it. It has a lot of charm and is conveniently located in Wilmington, not far from Mount Snow and near some nice eateries in town. Their staff was very helpful in providing us with information and assistance about the area.
The room we stayed in was clean and the beds were very comfortable...I slept like a baby that evning after having 2 of the specialty drinks called Razmataz. The next day we checked out to find that the snow had been brushed off our car in the morning which was very nice!
We look forward to dining in the restaurant next time which was not open the night we were there due to a private function. However, we did have a great breakfast and the opportunity to sample some great appetizers and one of the dinner menu items during our stay which was delicious!
We look forward to staying there again in the future and would recommend this Inn to friends and family!
My husband and I recently spent the weekend at the Red Shutter Inn in Wilmington, VT. The new owners were terrific and very welcoming. We were asked repeatedly if we needed anything. They are doing some updates to the Inn, but have kept the charm in tact. The breakfasts each morning were excellent! I would recommend a stay at this Inn and will return.
The red shutter inn is a really cute place right in the village nearby Mt. Snow. The inn keepers were very friendly and helpful. I slept through breakfast (only served from 8-9), so I can't really speak about the dining, but there's a certain unique charm to the place.
The sign on the road is difficult to spot and I drove by it without noticing it. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms in the main house, which was small but cute. My only real complaint is the close quarters of the rooms to one another that results in some lacking in the privacy department.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] Thanks for your feedback! Yes, you stayed in our smallest room, the Chimney Hill, that is tight quarters but tight on the budget as well. We do have a number of spacious rooms, however: JC Suite, Molly Stark, Apple Hill, and the Wilmington. Again, thank you for your feedback.
