We loved everything about this place, from the hot apple cider and cookies waiting for you when you arrive, to the beautiful fireplace and warm cozy rooms. Our room was spotless, including the bathroom and shower. The flat screen TV on the wall was great. The bottles of water and all the toiletries was also very nice. The breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious from the abundance of warm home-cooked muffins, to the blueberry french toast. The innkeepers were wonderful. We will definitely stay there again the next time we visit Vermont!
We were very impressed with the Fitch Hill Inn. Our room was very nice, bedding is a little dated and the bathroom was remarkably small! Other than that it is exceptionatly clean and all of those little extras are thought of for you. Love the cookies/tea/apple cider that is left out for guests. There is coffee and a keurig coffee maker available at all times. Little toiletries for those of us who always forget something. The common rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast was very good - moderate in terms of amount, but I loved the ability to pick a time to eat. This is a very nice place and an excellent value.
A lovely place, with every amenity one could want and then some (bottled water, cream sherry, freshly baked cookies, tea and coffe available anytime, etc). Comfortable, quiet, with a delicious breakfast. Innkepers very helpful and efficient. One really couldn't ask for more in a B & B!
This appealing "doll's house", full of history and charm, is an absolute gem. Whilst travelling around New England for more than a month and staying in over a dozen B&Bs this one shone because of the obvious and genuine desire of the inn-keepers to "spoil" their guests with their extra care and hospitality. The bedrooms are absolutely lovely with their antiques and hand-made patchwork quilts and the whole house is warm and inviting. There is a wonderful breakfast awaiting you every morning and hot spiced cider and "just out of the oven" cookies in the afternoons. Bliss!
I stayed at the Fitch Hill Inn for 3 nights in the New Hampshire Suite. I was looking for a place where I could relax and de-stress after daytime sightseeing and the Inn was perfect for that. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of Stowe and very quiet in a country setting. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable. There was a gas stove for ambiance and warmth. I also enjoyed the large whirlpool tub. There is a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, sink, dishes, and coffee maker which allowed me to bring dinner back and eat in the room. Every amenity was provided for my comfort in the room as well as bottled water, tea, coffee, & hot chocolate. John's breakfasts were excellent. I spent a lot of time conversing with Julie...she is a warm and friendly host. Fitch Hill Inn is everything a B & B should be.
The hosts, Julie and John were very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with them. The room was excellent, down to the soft inviting bed to the microwave to the small refrigerator. The whirlpool was divine. Breakfast was terrific and very nicely done. The room where we stayed was very cozy. I highly recommend the Fitch Hill Inn for anyone looking to have the perfect B&B experience.
We stayed in the Massachusetts room for Columbus Day weekend. Julie and John were great hosts, breakfast was delicious, and the room was both comfortable and clean. I'd absolutely recommend this inn to a friend.
We stayed two nights at Fitch Hill in the Massachusetts room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Julie and John are wonderful hosts and offered little touches that anyone can appreciate. It's the type of place where you can just relax and enjoy the back deck or stay busy visiting the north Vermont countryside. One day, we went on our own "Tasting Vermont" tour, visiting the Cabot Creamery, Goodrich Maple Farm, and Ben & Jerry's. The breakfast each day was outstanding with lots of emphasis on maple syrup! I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts, as well as the wonderful chocolate chip cookies and lemonade Julie put out in the middle of the afternoon. Julie is very organized and has plenty of information about local restaurants, etc. It's a very nice place to stay when you are in northern Vermont.
Room Tip: The Massachusetts room is nice sized and has a good bathroom/shower.
My husband and I along with my brother and his wife stayed at the Fitch Hill Inn recently. We all enjoyed our stay and found John and Julie catered to our every need. We had a great time.
Year after year the wonderful experiences of past vists are always met. It's nice to come back and everything you appreciated in your last visit is still the same, it feels like coming home.
This B&B is simply fantastic. The room, the Vermont Federal, was comfortable. We stayed for 3 nights. Every evening, fresh cookies, tea and hot apple cider were offered. There was also many games, books, and DVDs available.
Breakfasts began with warm home made muffins, followed by a fruit-based plate, and the main plate. Different every morning, but always delicious!
While booking, there is the option to get a chocolate truffles box. If you like chocolate, get them, they are really good!
We'll definitely go back there.
I stayed at the Fitch Hill Inn during a weekend in September and it could not have been better. Julie and John were the perfect hosts, the accomodations were beyond comfortable amd immaculate! The breakfasts were outstanding (and so weren't the cookies I could not stop eating!). The only problem with staying at the Fitch Hill Inn is that it sets the bar so high it will be difficult to find it's equal!

We just spent a wonderful weekend at the Fitch Hill Inn. We decided to visit the Stowe area a week ago, and were lucky to find this gem. We arrived on Friday evening with our college aged son, and stayed in the Green Mountain Suite. We were warmly greeted by Julie, and after partaking of the fresh cookies that apparently are available every evening, she gave us an introduction to the inn then left us to settle in. The room was very nice, with lots of room even with the sleeper pulled out. In the morning we had one of the best breakfasts ever, starting with the baked pear, then a pumpkin nut muffin, followed by stuffed French toast (a single piece made with cream cheese between two thin slices of bread, the whole thing then dipped in the egg mixture and grilled, topped by a blueberry maple sauce. Delicious, and just the right amount of food (some meals are overly generous and leave you feeling stuffed, this was just perfect). We then went to Trapp Family Lodge for a wonderful day of skiing. Skied up to the cabin for lunch, then on around the trails. At our host's recommendation we went to the Bees Knees in Johnson for dinner, then went back to the Inn where we had a pleasant conversion with John and then watched a movie.
In the morning we had another good breakfast (berries on yogurt, blueberry muffins, egg soufflé), then went skiing on the trails by the high school. Though not as extensive as commercial areas, they as just a few minutes from the Inn, are well groomed, and free. For lunch we stopped at Sweet Crunch Bake Shop for some great sandwiches.
We were very lucky to have wonderful snow, great weather and overall as good a weekend as you can ever have, and the Inn was definitely a large part of what made it so good. We are very glad we stayed here rather than in Stowe, and highly recommend it to anyone planning to ski at Trapp Family Lodge (or at one of the downhill places as other guests were).
I've stayed here twice and both visits were spectacular. Julia and John are extremely friendly and made our stay as comfortable as possible.
The Inn is very clean and well kept. The beds are sooooo comfortable too! Breakfast, which consists of three courses, is absolutely delish! The freshly baked muffins are warm and hearty and the baked pear is unique and delicious. They also make their own bread, which is then used for stuffed French Toast! It's really fantastic.
Other great amenities include freshly baked cookies (which may be the best I've ever had), hot cider and hot water for tea or cocoa which are ALWAYS available in the front hallway. They also have a fridge which is stocked with Poland Spring bottled water.
Another great part of this Inn is their movie collection. They have just about every classic movie that I can think of! Though the majority are on VHS (i know...ancient), it seems somewhat fitting when nestled in the mountains. They also have DVDs, but not all rooms have a DVD player.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Fitch Hill Inn to anyone that is looking for a quiet, comfortable vacation in the beautiful state of Vermont. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that it's only 15 minutes from Stowe :)

Our stay at the Fitch Hill In was by far the best bed and breakfast experience we've ever enjoyed. The Inn offers an exquisite combination of luxury and down-home comfort. I particularly enjoyed reading my book by the wood burning stove, my teenage daughter really appreciated the excellent WiFi connection, and my husband (who suffered from insomnia the first night) was glad to be able to retreat to the common room for a cup of herb tea in the wee hours of the morning. We all agree that this inn is 100% Outstanding!
Julie and John provide an excellent B&B in the heart of Vermont convenient to most attractions. It was an excellent choice for our honeymoon.

The only regret is that we only stayed one night and didn't have the opportunity to take in all that this charming inn has to offer. I don't particularly like blueberries but the stuffed French toast with the blueberry sauce had me nearly licking my plate clean. Everything says "'y'all come back" and the only reason we won't is that we waited too long to make reservations. Thank you Julie and John for a wonderful, albeit too short, experience.
I love love love this bed and breakfast! When we entered, there was fresh cookies and cider waiting for us! Our rooms were spotless and comfortable, we had a lot of privacy and the breakfast was just delicious. John and Julie are wonderful hosts, definitely make it a point to stay here!
John and Julie make you feel like family. This was our first time to stay at a B&B, and thanks to John and Julie I see many more B&B stays in our future. The rooms are lovely and feel like home with Julie's quilts and John's woodworking treasures. Breakfast was quite a delight, the french toast was out of this world. We loved every minute of our stay. Thanks Julie and John. And thanks to my sister and brother-in-law for inroducing us to the Fitch Hill Inn. Mike & Kim Crock
We stayed for two nights in August 2008 and Julie and John made us so welcome. We had the most fantastic holiday driving across the USA from San Francisco, but the welcome we received here surpassed anything we had already experienced. The room was incredibly inviting and comfortable and, we have not stopped telling everyone about the fantastic breakfasts we enjoyed. Julie was brilliant and provided us with excellent directions to see the covered bridges but the most relaxing time was sitting in the garden with tea in the afternoon. A little piece of heaven on earth. We cannot wait to return and bring our best friends with us. June and David Greenway, Glastonbury, UK

I had the pleasure of visiting John and Julie's charming inn two times and was delighted both times. The home and the individual rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is spectacular and John and Julie couldn't be more warm and welcoming. You can tell that they LOVE what they do. If you're ever in or near Hyde Park, Vermont, give yourself a special treat and stay at Fitch Hill Inn!!!!
My boyfriend and I recently returned from a weekend stay at the Fitch Hill Inn. John and Julie are very friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts were amazing. The Fitch Hill Inn offered just the right amount of charm. It's location is great...just 5-10 minutes away from Stowe with so much to do. It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood which is just so relaxing. It certainly was a home away from home. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed in the spacious New Hampshire Room and loved it. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spotless and well-stocked with toiletries, and the jet tub was so nice. Julie and John even provide oils for use in the tub. The breakfasts were perfect, as were the afternoon treats. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for a nice long weekend. The Green Mountain Suite was lovely. John and Julie were the perfect hosts. Delicious breakfast every morning. A wonderful ski trip. We are sure to be back.
We stayed at the Fitch Hill Inn in late October 2007. The foliage was gone, but we really just went to relax for a weekend. I didn't want to spend the inflated money to stay in Stowe, and I found the Fitch Hill Inn online, it is only 9 miles or so away from Stowe. What a great surprise. This place was awesome. The inn is beautiful and decorated in typical country motifs. There is a sitting room with a wood stove and another room with a library of books, CDs, and videos. We relaxed listening to classical music while reading by the fire. The room, we stayed in the New Hampshire Suite, was great. The bed was comfy and had a nice warm quilt. The room had a whirlpool and a gas fireplace, as well as a mini kitchen, and a sofa. My favorite thing about the Inn are all the little details that the innkeepers put into running the property. Each room has a complimentary bottle of sherry, bath oils, bath robes, soda, and bottled water. Every afternoon, the innkeepers made fresh cookies and hot apple cider. Breakfast each day was delicious as well and three courses!! I will definitely stay in this place again!
A lovely home in a small town in Vermont. We have stayed in many B&Bs and this is one of the best! The food is delicious, rooms pretty and clean and the innkeepers are attentive to making your stay memorable!
My friend ( a local) told me about the Fitch Hill Inn. But she didn't tell me how fantastic it is! The owners are amazing--wonderfully informed about the area (but very willing to allow one to just sit quietly, too). I have serious food allergies and they seemed to ENJOY the challenge--they made my stay so wonderful. The Fitch Hill Inn is more like a boutique hotel than a typical bed and breakfast. Hotel lovers or B and B lovers would be equally at home. I can't recommend this place highly enough!!!!
