Maplewood Inn Bed and Breakfast

I ended up at the Maplewood Inn by chance on a business/pleasure trip. What a find! The property itself is gorgeous (so New England!) and the house is beautifully appointed. Our room was so quaint and yet luxurious, with an oh-so-cozy king-sized bed with lovely soft linens and a huge bathroom. Add to this fresh-baked cookies, port and sherry, access to the kitchen 24/7 and a delicious made-to-order breakfast...I was in heaven! I can't forget to mention that the innkeeper was so sweet and welcoming (even when we arrived close to 9 p.m.). I left wishing I had time for a longer stay. The Maplewood truly was a treat!

We stayed in the Rose room, it had a bathtub/shower, king bed, and pretty antique loveseat, chair and coffee table. The bed was softer than our usual, still quite comfortable. Though the traffic noise was audible, we slept until noon the first morning! Paul had graciously greeted us at midnight due to an unexpected flight delay. Breakfasts were delicious and served between 8a and 9:30a. Fresh coffee was always available, and the freshly baked treats and nightcaps were a lovely warm touch. Located near Poultney, only a few minutes away from Green Mountain College, it made for a perfect home base. Highly recommend this inn, and hope to return some day.

Nicely appointed rooms. Extremely clean. Wonderful historic home with perfectly chosen furniture. Beds were a bit too soft for my preference but still comfy. Breakfasts were superb and held us until suppertime.

We came across the Maplewood Inn while looking online for a spot to stay overnight on our way up through western Vermont. Everything written by previous visitors was true. The Inn was immaculate, the rooms spacious and quite comfortable, and every possible convenience and comfort was attended to by our gracious host Paul Stagg. Our breakfast was made to order and perfect on a cold winter's day. This is a gem of a place, and one we will certainly stay in again if we come this way - or probably we will just come this way to stay in this fine B&B again!

I love to stay at B&Bs and the Maplewood Inn is a true treasure. Warm and welcome, with great rooms and a fabulous breakfast. Coffee and soft drinks always available and home baked cookies or cake for an afternoon or evening snack - WOW! Don't miss this place if you are in Southern Vermont!

My wife and I spent two relaxing nights at the Maplewood Inn. Great hospitality, great movies, fabulous breakfast! We would definitely go back.

Some B&Bs make a computer available to guests; some make a frig available - Paul Stagg, the Host at Maplewood, makes both available - AND the coffee pot is always on - AND he has a library of 1000s of DVDs you can select. The screened in gazebo is just a jewel. Cooked to order breakfast. And so many trails and lakes nearby for a hiker/biker to enjoy. Had just a wonderful vacation at Paul's Maplewood!

My husband and I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and after our stay at Maplewood I am willing to try again. The place is super clean, which was one of my concerns. We stayed in the "Rose Room", and the king sized bed was comfortable with a great mattress and pillows. The environment is comfortable but classy, and the food was outstanding. Would totally come again.

The inn is absolutely beautiful. It has country charm and is located in the small town of Fair Haven, VT. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding! Thank you so much, Paul and Scott for making my Daughter's Homecoming/50th Birthday Party at your beautiful inn so special. It was very relaxed, comforting and personal. You are dear friends to many yet you made time for all of us on this memorable occasion. The food was EXCELLENT! I will try to make your pineapple preserves with cracked pepper and cream cheese for my New Year's Eve party. Your new addition is so warm and cozy for entertaining. I wish you many years of sharing this beautiful inn with world travelers as well as local folks just needing accommodations for family and friends coming in town. I didn't break Angie's camera with that little fiasco of my trembling hand but I still wonder if the wine came out of your table cloth?

A gem of a Vermont Country Inn. Beautiful setting, tasteful decor and delicious food. Paul and Scott are very attentive, friendly hosts who have created a homey and relaxing retreat for any occasion, or just for a weekend in Vermont experience.

The Christmas charm, scent of gormet foods coming out of the kitchen to the elegant dining room table, dancing Santa, perect assortment of music for the dancing room and visiting parlor... everything was perfect at the Maplewood Inn B & B. The whole inn is beautifully done. Room very spacious and comfortable. Beds are great. Host Paul Stagg is a joy! French toast is great!

This is the third year we have stayed at the Maplewood Inn and have found it to exceed our expectations each year. We would not consider staying any other place when in the area. You are made to feel like family. It's the greatest!

Looking for calm and comfy get-away? If you want to feel like you're HOME but you don’t have to do any of the tidying-up or the making of a hot breakfast or that perfect cup of Green Mountain Blueberry coffee, in an exquisite country setting; this is the perfect B & B to choose. The Inn Keepers are as personable and accessible as YOU would need or want them to be. I have stayed there a few times and always feel like I'm HOME! I will visit every year on my travels back to Vermont.

The room we had (Rose room) was a nice size, immaculate and had a private, modern, full-sized bathroom. The innkeeper was warm and friendly but not obtrusive, and choosing what we wanted for breakfast was a plus!

A wonderful place to stay while enjoying Vermont's gorgeous scenery! We highly recommend this great B&B. We were treated exceptionally and fed wonderful breakfasts. The rooms were immaculate and inviting, and many amenities were always available. Scott and Paul have much to be proud of. We'll be back!

My stay at the Maplewood Inn was short, but very sweet. From the moment I walked onto the beautiful front porch, I felt at home. The inn is decorated so tastefully and is immaculate! Paul and Scott were gracious hosts and were very accommodating. I stayed in the Rose Room and thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in such a comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic. There was a wide variety of choices, which was good for me since I am a VERY picky eater. If I ever head back up to New England, I will definitely be stopping by the Maplewood Inn again! C.Hill

We stayed at the inn over an extended fourth of July weekend. It was our second visit and we will be back. Paul and Scott run an immaculate B&B and are very responsive in catering to our needs. We heartily recommend that all guests order the french toast for breakfast!

My spouse and I had a very nice stay at the Maplewood inn. We only stayed one night so we really did not have a chance to enjoy all that is offered. The breakfast that was prepared for us was outstanding and very satisfying . The inn is quite old. It was there when I was in grade school. It has been updated and maintained very well. One suggestion for future travelers would be to request a room toward the rear of the house as the road that runs in front of the inn is quite busy all night. Overall this was an excellent stop in our travel.

The Maplewood Inn was not only gorgeous, but it was so comfortable we felt like we were at home. The service and breakfast were outstanding.

I stay at the Maplewood Inn 4-5 times each year, am a frequent guest at B&Bs in various part of the world and last stayed at the Maplewood Inn in mid-May. The owners provide extremely gracious hospitality and the full breakfast with many choices is superb! The rooms are very comfortable and the inn is exceptionally clean. I find this to be one of the very best B&Bs in which I have stayed over the last 5-10 years. I recommend it highly.

Had occasion to be in Vt. for my niece's graduation. Stayed only one night at the Maplewood Inn and had a lovely experience. The common rooms were clean and pretty, the Rose room we stayed in was large and well appointed, and the service was very good with the Inn keeper near at hand but not underfoot. We skipped watching a movie from the DVD library which had hundreds of choices and played scrabble in the dinning room instead. It was a very homey and pleasant stay.

This was the 5th time my wife and I stayed at the Maplewood Inn as it is close to the college our son attended. It is in a nice quite location with clean, comfortable rooms. Each room has a private bath and tv, and there is a remarkable DVD collection if you are in need of a movie. Wireless internet service is also available. There is a nice sitting room complete with drinks. Also, coffee, soda, water, etc are always available. They do a wonderful job with breakfast as you get to select what you would like to eat. The gazebo out back offers a quiet location to just sit and relax. I would recommend the Oak Suite if there are more than 2 and the Patio Room if there are just 2 of you, as it has it's own outside entrance. When in Vermont, Maplewood Inn is the place I stay.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly from the beginning. I enjoyed the cleanliness and tasteful decor of the rooms, public areas as well as the rounds. I would stay at Maplewood Inn again and I recommend it to my friends

Had the opportunity to be able to stay in the patio room, which was above my expectations. I even had my own private entrance. The cleanliness was outstanding as was the price and service. The food was exceptional and if you went away hungary it was your own fault. I just loved the dining room. Every should experience why Maplewood Inn Bed and Breakfast is in the people pleasing business.

I would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to be pampered, treated with the utmost respect, and outstanding hospitality only adds to the B&B's beauty, the Innkeepers are very knowledgeable of surrounding shops and area attractions.

My family stayed at the MWI in Fair Haven in August of 09 and absolutely loved it! It was actually one of the highlights of our trip to Vermont. Comfortable beds, friendly hosts, delicious breakfast and just an overall beautiful and well-maintained Inn.We would definitely stay at this Inn again.....the Coche's of WV

My wife and I spent a week at the beautiful Maplewood Inn Bed and Breakfast. The innkeepers Scott and Paul took care of our every need. Their customer service is impeccable. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed and very clean. Breakfast is scrumptious and what delicious cookies are served to the guests. The atmosphere of the inn is very relaxing. My wife and I will only be staying at the Maplewood Inn Bed and Breakfast on our return visit. The Inn will far exceed your expectations.

We've stayed at most of the B&Bs in the area as well as many B&Bs in northern New England and this is one of our favorites. We have settled on this one for the Rutland area. It's clean, the rooms are spacious, and the innkeepers are very nice and always helpful. We can preorder breakfast from a menu and it is always very good. We visit MWI at least 3 times a year and I can honestly say that we have never had a problem. This B&B stands out from the rest. We just love the place.
