The Olde Staunton Inn provided my wife and I just what we we were looking for: a comfortable room in a charming Victorian era home within walking distance to town, a friendly host who made a great breakfast - far beyond our expectations of the typical Continental fare - and who was easily able to engage us in conversations about Staunton area and all it had to offer. Staunton was a great find for us. Will definitely plan on a return visit.
My wife and I stayed in one of the 3rd floor rooms--our friends were in the other one--for three nights in early March, 2013. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and quiet. When we returned in the evenings, we enjoyed sitting and chatting with our friends in the library. Breakfast could not have been better. (Ask about the unique dining table.) David took my gluten-free diet in stride. David is an attentive, easy-going host. We have stayed at a higher-priced B&B in Staunton, but will definitely return to the Olde Staunton Inn if we have the opportunity.
I was a little apprehensive as this was my first stay at a bed and breakfast (my husband has stayed at several in the past). Let me just say that David was an awesome host. Our room was large and comfortable with ample closet space. Breakfast was great and the options varied. I generally do not eat breakfast but the homemade quiche was hard to turn down! David was spot on with his recommendations - whether it was for local attractions or restaurants. We stayed for three days and only used our car one time. We walked to the Woodrow Wilson birth home, the theater, restaurants, shops, etc. We even felt safe walking home from the theater at 11:00 at night. We definitely plan on returning and give David an A++ for his hospitality.
Breakfast was supper, great areas to relax in with very good accommodations...only draw back was having to walk-up stairs to rooms...after having to walk-up outside steps. David was most accommodating with information about restaurants and directions to places to visit. The 1910 home was located close to downtown for easy access to all the shopping needs. Having a full house on our stay made seeing and talking with new people interesting. We would definitely return for the antiquing experience.
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The innkeeper was very friendly and helpful in suggesting hikes and dining locations, and the breakfast was great. Shenandoah national park is ~30 minute drive. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to hurricane Sandy (which was heading directly towards our home in NJ), but we would certainly like to return to complete our visit at a future date!
We stayed in The Blue Ridge room, and the room was kind of tight and is the smallest room in the house. For the money, you cannot go wrong. The location is walking distance to the downtown, the breakfast food was great, and the host is personable and interesting, but not overbearing like some B and B hosts. Would go back again.
[Resource Id: InnkeeperResponse, Set: reviews] It should be noted that these guests made an online reservation for our smallest and least expensive room. We regret if they felt "cramped";however, the room is exactly as descibed and pictured.(The Inn was at 100% occupancy the night of their stay.)
The morning of their departure they chose to "sleep late" rather than take time to enjoy our extensive breakfast offerings. Instead they asked for "bananas and muffins to go", so we feel that any evaluation of our dining is inappropriate.
It was a quick, one night trip. The innkeeper recommended a place for us to dine - was very good. Easy to get to and parking was not a problem. Def. recommend and will use again, if ever overnight in Staunton again.
Our bedroom was larger than most B&B rooms. We had a sitting area in it. The room was very nicely decorated and clean. I had a bad cold when we arrived, but, regardless, I felt right at home. The breakfast was good too and the innkeeper made us feel welcome.
We often choose a B&B to get the"feel" of a town, and this one is exceptional for that. The lovely old home has been carefully restored by the innkeeper, David, who welcomes all guests with his quiet, gracious manner. He provides many suggestions for visitors new to the town and enjoys talking with guests at the breakfast table, where he serves ample, delicious food family-style, certainly more than standard "continental." Staunton is an architectural gem and the Shakespeare Theatre is very lively. All in all, a great get-away.
I couldn't have been happier with my 3 night stay at the Olde Staunton Inn except to have been able to stay longer. The Inn is even nicer than the photos! Every detail is thought of and every comfort provided. I loved being able to walk to my niece's wedding at St. Francis of Assisi Church as well as take walks all around town and on the Mary Baldwin campus. I took advantage of the free shuttle several times, too. Breakfast was delicious and hearty. I didn't need lunch. David was a delightful host. I can't say enough good things about my stay.
We stayed here for two nights after driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Olde Staunton Inn is the perfect place to rest and to explore the historic town. We relaxed on the large, private porch and in the library and sitting room - we find it really important to have somewhere to sit away from the bedroom. Dave offered lots of information about local sightseeing and restaurants (we chose a self-guided walking tour and the Woodrow Wilson museum) and was most attentive throughout our stay. The breakfasts are excellent and enjoyed chatting with Dave as we lingered over that last cup of coffee. highly recommended
I recently spent 4 nights in this lovely B&B. I was in town for my reunion at Mary Baldwin College. Many of my classmates stayed at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel. When I met one of them at the hotel, it was big and cold compared to this cozy B&B that was in a good location for getting around town as well as to the college.
David is a wonderful host. I found him both helpful and accommodating. Over the 5 days, I watched him handle the changing nature of his environment with grace and ease. He was always available to offer a helpful hand. I did wake up every morning to wonderful smells coming from the kitchen below.
The only reason that I would give an overall rating of this B&B a 4 rather than a 5 is due to the amount of steps that I needed to climb. I am recovering from knee surgery. But I realize that this is part of being in an historical house so my overall rating is really a 4+. I will definitely stay in this B&B when returning to Staunton.
The inn is very quaint, and the innkeeper is friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty. (It was described as Continental, but during our stay it included homemade quiche and freshly baked muffins!) We loved that the inn was an easy walk to downtown Staunton. Definitely a great stay!
My girlfriend & I stayed at this B&B for a romantic weekend getaway, and thoroughly enjoyed the place. The owner is quite friendly and he cooks a great breakfast. The house itself is a very beautiful old home and the room was quite spacious. Staunton itself is a great destination. There are other B&B's right in the heart of downtown, but this house is still just 2-3 blocks from downtown so I think the location works out well. It's also very well situated near Mary Baldwin College's gorgeous campus. Plus, the City has a free trolley service circulating through downtown that stops right in front of the B&B. Last but not least, this B&B was the cheapest out of the 4-5 B&B's we had looked at in Staunton. I would definitely stay there again.
My wife and I spent the weekend at the inn and had a very peaceful and relaxing time. David's recommendations for restaurants were excellent and we had a great meal at both places. Highly recommended.
we stayed at olde staunton inn for one night and loved our time there. david, the owner, was so flexible (he let us check out a little later then check out time). he was also extremely helpful in recommending places for us to eat and exciting things for us to do. the inn is conveniently located walking distance from restaurants, shops and the blackfriars theater. we never drove anywhere! the room was beautiful and clean, the bed was so comfortable, and the price cannot be beat. it is a great value, and a wonderful place to stay when visiting staunton.
My husband, son and I stayed at Olde Staunton Inn over the Thanksgiving weekend, and we enjoyed our stay very much. David, the owner and host, was very gracious, kind and helpful. He gave us several suggestions on places to go with our 5 yr old son, including an amazing playground that was a short drive from the Inn. He also had wonderful suggestions for places to eat, and the breakfast he provided each morning was the largest selection we have ever seen at a B&B, and quite delicious. Our room (the William Beverly) was very quiet at night, and it was even big enough for us to set up our twin air mattress for our son (the loveseat is a pull-out sofa bed, but we preferred using our air mattress since it sat lower to the floor). We definitely enjoyed our stay at Olde Staunton Inn, and all three of us enjoyed chatting with David. We will definitely stay here again!
My husband and 5 yr old son and I stayed at Olde Staunton Inn over the Thanksgiving weekend, and it was the best decision we made! We stayed in the William Beverly room, which was spacious and charming. Even though the loveseat has a pull out bed, we brought our twin sized air mattress for our son to sleep on. There was plenty of room for his mattress and for us to walk around the room.
David, the owner and host, is very gracious, kind, helpful and accommodating. He directed us to an awesome park/playground for our son, which was 2-3 mins from the Inn. He also had many wonderful suggestions for us about places to go (family friendly that would be of interest to our son AND to us), places to eat, and things to see.
Our room and bathroom were clean and tidy, the room was very quiet at night, and the breakfast every morning was a much bigger and more delicious selection than any other we have seen at a B&B.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Olde Staunton Inn, and without a doubt, David was the icing on the cake. We will definitely stay here again!
In town for business, and looking for a place to get away. The Olde Staunton Inn met those expectations and more. The house is very comfortable, and the innkeeper, David, is a fabulous host. Found the amenities that I needed, along with quiet rest between hectic days. Walking distance to some great restaurants, and breakfast was generous and delicious. I'll visit again, and I don't hesitate to recommend.
Outstanding B&B in Staunton. Great historical House with lovely decoration. Innkeeper is very obliging. Gorgeous breakfast with delicious home-made hot muffins. Perfect location to explore historical Staunton. Thanks to David for a wonderful stay.
This place was amazing. It was conveniently located in historic Downtown Staunton; perfect for walking or the free trolley is right next door. David, the innkeeper, is super nice and full of helpful recommendations. We will definitely be back for another stay.
We found the Olde Staunton Inn on B and B.com and were very happy with our too short stay. The building has been lovingly restored. The rooms are attractive, comfortable, clean, quiet. Ours even had an electric fireplace! David was genial and offered assistance in finding places to see, places to eat, etc. He provided an excellent abundant continental breakfast with fresh fruits, juice, cereals, breads and pastries. We love the Staunton area and will return regularly--to the Olde Staunton Inn.
This was our first experience at a B&B. Our Inn keeper, David was friendly, warm, professional, knowledgeable and just an all around wonderful person. Our accommodations were excellent and we loved the charm and quaintness of the Inn. Our breakfast was delicious and well balanced. David was a wonderful host and attended to all of our needs. When we are in the area again, we will definitely stay at the Old Staunton Inn.

We were looking for lodging during JMU's Parents Weekend and came across this property. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owner and escorted to a delightful, large room with a king bed, jacuzzi bath tub/shower and cable tv. Included with the room was a lovely breakfast with assorted pastries, a variety of fresh fruits and quiche. All in all, I would highly recommend staying at the Olde Staunton Inn.
We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast but this one convinced me it's the only way to go. We traveled to Staunton by train from Ohio. David picked us up at the station and drove us to the Inn. He was very helpful in every way. He even took us to rent a car the next day. We used the car one day for a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to visit relatives and spent our second day exploring Staunton. The Inn is just a few minutes walk from historical Stauntons restaurants and shops.
The rooms are very comfortable and you hear no noise from other rooms or the street. The food was excellent and we enjoyed visiting with David and our new friends visiting the area from Hawaii. The next time we come to Staunton this is definately where we will stay. Our stay at the Olde Staunton was a great experience we will always remember thanks to our gracious host. Thanks, David
We had a wonderful experience at the Olde Stauton Inn B&B. Dave, the owner was just the best. He picked us up at the Amtrak station and returned us at the end of our stay. He has restored the home beautifully, and it is clean and very comfortable. He serves a delicous, healthy breakfast each morning and gave us some great pointers on places to visit. The Inn is within walking distance of all the downtown area. If you don't want to walk you can catch the trolley right next door. This B&B gets 5 stars from us! It will always be our choice when we visit the Staunton area. Love it!!!
Why stay in a sterile hotel when you can stay in this beautiful B&B in the lap of luxury? David, the innkeeper has kept the historic essence of this 1910 property but added all the modern conveniences. He is also an excellent breakfast maker with homemade breads, lots of fresh fruit, and a to-die-for quiche. He recommended a walking tour of Staunton that was the highlight of our visit. If you haven't visited Staunton before, you will be delighted by the beautiful architecture of this colonial-era town. Don't miss this one!
