On a long road trip, we phoned the afternoon we arrived. We were offered suites, whirlpools, but I kept saying we just wanted very simple rooms. Finally she offered a queen with a shower, but still expensive. I said yes, thinking it was the simplest they had. Later, after giving my credit card, etc. I learned nobody else was staying that night and there were two less expensive rooms. The owner wasn't there. Her new assistant was nice, but when I asked if we could do a small load of laundry, we were told $10 to wash plus $10 to dry. We passed. Later, I began to wonder about the tax on the room. Checking AAA, it seemed higher than it should have been. I assumed the new assistant figured wrong, but on returning, the assistant showed that the tax was pre-figured by the owner. Maybe AAA and the internet were wrong? In the morning, the owner was there cooking breakfast. For the first time ever in a B&B I had to introduce myself. She wasn't friendly enough to begin the introductions. And the brochure brags about the "English-style breakfast." Sorry, I've been in B&Bs in England and this was nowhere close: one small cup of sliced fruit, dry marble-shaped scrambled eggs, two thin flat slices of bacon and generic white toast. I got jam when I asked for it. We loaded our car, but the owner didn't even come out to say goodbye. I had to ring the doorbell to ask if she needed anything else from _us_. She said, haughtily, "My key??" When I explained I left it for her in our room, she finally said "Have a good trip. Come back." We won't. OK location, nice house, average B&B room, but expensive and I felt ripped off.

My girlfriend and I stayed for her birthday, in the Sussex suite and it was beautiful! It was on the very top floor and had a lovely view of the avenues. There was a romantic fireplace and an amazing jetted tub. We wanted to stay there forever!. The staff was so wonderful! Melinda made us feel welcomed upon walking in the door. She seemed sincerely happy to be of service to us and made us a beautifully delicious breakfast that she even brought to us in our room! The whole experience was fantastically perfect! We WILL be back!

The hostess was very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. However, the bathroom fixtures are in need of repair, the rooms are not soundproofed (as was advertised), the fireplaces are apparently only available for use during the winter, there was not enough hot water, and we had to choose between a comfortable temperature and noise during the night.

My husband and I flew from south Florida into SLC early October where we stayed at Haxton Manor for 2 nights prior to renting an RV for our camping trip to Moab. Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much from SLC but our hostesses and accommodations at Haxton Manor really made all the difference! The Brighton room was exactly as pictured - quaint and charming, with a relaxing jetted tub. We were the first to breakfast each morning, got coffee /tea and had lively conversations with our hostesses while they prepared food in the kitchen and continued into the dining room while we ate. They helped orient us on the street map guide and we were able to confidently drive our rental car around town. One afternoon, we sat in the comfortable library area to read and the living to chat. There were so many interesting nick-knacks, antiques and paintings to peruse. The location was great; we took several walks along South Temple enjoying the diverse architectural styles and eras. One evening we walked to the Wild Grape for a fabulous dinner. We completely enjoyed our visit, highly recommend it, and will definitely stay there again!

My girlfriend and I (now my fiancé) just got back from our Valentine's Day getaway to Haxton Manor and it was wonderful. The staff helped me plan every detail of our stay and the big moment. After two days of pampering I popped the big question in our room in front of the fireplace and when she said yes, there was somebody immediately at our door with two glasses and a bottle of champagne. It was the perfect icing on the cake. I want to thank the staff for making the most important day of my life so special. We will see you on our wedding night.

My wife and I were looking to get some alone time away from our six children for our anniversary and some friends of ours recommended Haxton Manor. The house was absolutely gorgeous and the history of the home is amazing. Our room was immaculate and decorated to perfection with luxurious bedding, a fireplace and jucuzzi tub. The two nights we spent there were some of the best of our lives. The staff did everything possible to make our stay special. I am already looking forward to our next anniversary.

This home is rich with history and has a wonderful story of being rescued from the charred remains of a fire. We loved looking through the photo albums and reading the old newspaper articles documenting it's transformation. The Inn is so comfortable, and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing retreat.
